Hi All,
Have come back from my "tweetment" (thank you, Allan!!!). There are 8 patients booked in for my next date - we only have 6 chairs + 1 lounge chair, which I had today, so I am coming in a day earlier next time around to ease the strain a little.
I wonder if Berona, you like Gladioli's (not sure how to make that a plural). We could call you Dame Berona!! Do you sing? Do you have a nice strand of pearls? Am I getting too cheeky - blame Tec and Allan - they have influenced me badly!!
Diane, someone once told me to eat an onion sandwich to help to get to sleep. I don't think I tried it. A nice glass of red wine is always good I think. (well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it)
SueMaid, what are your objectives this year? Will you try and get the portable dvd players do you think? I watched a Murder She Wrote dvd today. It sure passes the time.
Anyhoo! Guess I'll go and have a lie down, bit tired today.
Cheerio to all.

Dame Berona-- that I like. Berona will probably never speak to me again, but I hadn't picked her as the diamante spectacles type, more your blonde valkyrie. Barry Humphies had some clever personas. Mrs Edna Everage was only a normal housewife from Moonee Ponds until our then prime minister anointed her Dame Edna, household superstar. I always found Sir Les Patterson rather revolting, but liked Sandy Stone. He was an elderly, deceased gentleman dressed in pyjamas and dressing gown and reminiscing on his life. Like Tec and Allan, I seem to have been a bit down recently. It could be SAD, except that our days are getting longer not shorter, and they never get very short anyway in this latitude. I find the changeover to daylight saving upsets my apple cart. Don't know why, possibly just that, having got used to waking up in daylight, I have to wake up in the dark again for a few weeks. Thinking of you especially Linda and Diane, also Alison who is not having much fun. Nice to hear from you, however.

You're right, Colin. I will never speak to you again if you call me Dame Berona!...I never think of the title Dame as being very flattering because I heard it first as a youngster, watching Hollywood movies, when all girls were dames.
Yes, Alison, I do like Gladioli, but that's about as far as it goes! No string of pearls, no diamante glasses, no purple wig - and no hairy legs. Come to think of it, maybe Allan would make a better Dame Edna than I would!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks Colin, I'm ok. I make sure I have fun every day (luckily for me, the old saying "small things amuse small minds" is actually true!
Bye for now Folks!

Hi, Colin - you don't post often but when you do you make me laugh. You have such a dry sense of humour which I always enjoy:-))) By the way I hate "Sir Les Patterson" - my least favourite of Barry Humphries personas
Alison - you know that attitude is everything so keep smiling and making us laugh.
Berona I never think of you as a Dame - I'm not like those dreadful men Allan, Tec and Colin. When we go on our cruise we will out number them and I bet they won't be so cheeky face to face:-)))
Diane, come and visit whenever you need a laugh - we don't seem to go away so we'll be here when you want to chat.

Hi all,
Alison, I hope that all wentwent well with your 'tweetment' and that you are now a bit more chirpy!
How many more personas can I have? The maid with hairy legs, Dame Edna, the wheelie bin whisperer, Dr What!
Colin, I think that you share Tec's sense of humour...I like it!
Diane, please keep visiting, you keep us sane!
Regards to all
Allan

Humble apologies Berona, please forgive me. I certainly do not picture you in a purple wig. Your dislike of dames is understandable. A friend of mine used to hate being called a lady. To her, ladies were toffy people who curled their little fingers just so when they were drinking their tea. Funny thing is, by that definition my best friend is a lady. She says that when she lived at home her uncle (who lived with them) used to stir her up by calling her a snob and curling his pinkie in the air as if holding a tea cup. After 20 plus years in a unit I am well used to body corporates, or as we call them, Thought police. One of the worst examples of one I heard about of their stupidity was with someone who had the temerity to replace their old, venetian blinds with vertical blinds. They took her on, and were sent packing. Mind you, I am part of the thought police at our block (8 units) but as only three of us turn up for meetings we usually get on fairly well.
It's been fun to read Sue, Tec and Allan's thoughts on committees. I worked for one company decades ago that we reckoned took its name from its business practice. Meetings, meetings and more meetings. In my experience, most of them pointless. Or, management inspired so that the company toadies among ordinary workers could spout off about what a great company it was to work for. Don't get me wrong- it was a good company to work for, but I didn't need non-union employees, toadies of management, saying how great it was and implying they didn't need the union. I wasn't a member of a union, but I could see what management was doing. Grump grump grump. All this was 24 years ago! Have a good day, upside people and Uzzi in sunny Spain, and have a good evening down unders. I worked last night for one night only. It upsets my sleep pattern more than the regular shift pattern of a few months ago, when the job was in full swing. The client is now only getting some tidying up as they uncover asbestos. But while I had today off to recover I think I am getting too old for night work. I don't need the money, and while it is nice to have time off during the day I need to sleep more and more to recover.

Colin, it may be a sign of age!
I remember years ago when I was in the Army Reserve in the UK. A mate of mine and I went up to Newcastle for a regimental dinner.
It started at 7.30 pm after drinks (and a few on the way up there!) and I still remember drinking several brandies when I sat down to a bacon and eggs breakfast the next morning...not to be recommended!
Now, 9.00pm and I feel kn*ckered every evening

The board is very subdued today with the updates on Jean's situation. I feel very sad as Jean has fought this cancer long and hard and has such a fight ahead of her.

Good morning and good evening all.
Hi Sue - I agree with you about Jean. She is normally so firm in her outlook, I hope this continues while she faces it all. What a blow it must have been to find that some of it has gone undetected. I feel for her very much.
Notice I'm early to-day? My computer is behaving. I threatened it! Just think - next week we will be an hour earlier and have that much longer to talk to the Brits - that is, until they go back to standard time - then we'll have TWO hours! No stopping us then!

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,
I hope very much that the support of Jean's family and friends will give her the strength and continued courage to fight her illness.
I didn't realise that the time changes would give us poms more time to talk and torment you lol.

Good evening/morning everybody,
I don't think that I have 'spoken' with Jean, but just by reading the posts it is obvious that she is a special person. I hope that things turn out right for her.
The more a thing changes, the more it stays the same: when I took the voluntary redundancy/early retirement the Development Services Dept was split into three seperate sections (Building, Health and Planning). Yesterday as part of my relieving work I attended a meeting of the Development Control Unit which has personnel from various sections commenting on proposed developments. They were STILL discussing projects which had come to Council 10years ago and still hadn't been resolved. I just lost and started laughing and had to leave the meeting.
All the officers involved hadn't been with Council at the time these projects (some against my advice) were initiated and they couldn't see what I was laughing at.
The Shire of Dardanup should be renamed the Shire of Mills Of God!

I'm a big boy now, with broad shoulders, and a thick skin, (just thick really) so can take whatever you throw at me. Allan, Colin, and I, are impervious to ridicule.
What do they call fairies in Australia?
England it's fairies, Wales = Tolwyth Teg, Ireland = Leprechauns, Cornwall = Piskies
