Berona Report 28 Sep 2009 23:08

Good morning everyone. I've been busy answering someone who sent me a pm from Trying to Find. Seems like he is new to the boards, so I made a few suggestions.

Sue - how was the AGM? I imagine that you are still going to be active in some capacity or other. What is it this time?

Allan, it WAS expensive, but it's so long since the last time, I can't complain. I told my daughter that I would not skimp on something which sits on my face all my waking hours - but she took one set of frames away from me very quickly, saying "No, Mum - you don't want diamantes". I said "why not?", but I hadn't seen the price! - She had!...and just as well she was there to choose the frames because the drops in my eyes made me see only a blur when I looked in the mirror. I didn't know I was going to get drops put into my eyes. Just as well we used up another hour before I tried to drive home!

I keep thinking of Linda and hope she is coping OK. That's a long time until the funeral isn't it?

Should imagine they will see a lot of sore eyes on that sight then!

Just watched an interesting programme on tv. A pommie comedian Ross Noble, doing a tour of Australia on a motorbike, doing gigs on the way.

Started in Sydney area, Wollongong, Melbourne, Canbera, Adelaide, across South Aus to Bunbury, Perth, up north and across to Darwin, down the East coast to Brisbane, and back to Sydney.
That was a very long way on a motorbike.

Good morning Sue and Berona

I wouldn't even know where to start with OH's family; they went to England from Europe at the end o WW2 as displaced persons

Sorry Sue - I have just re-read your post about the AGM. Hope it all goes well. There's always someone who wants to throw a spanner in the works, isn't there? Good luck.

Hi everyone,
It's bedtime for me. Today I got a ticket to see Twelfth Night at the local Theatre.I was the first person to get a tickeet so I could have sat anywhere.
I hope your AGM goes ok Sue.
I've been looking on Ancestry London info and I found my Grandfathers
Wedding Certificate. The fact that I've got a photocopy of it is neither here nor there but it was nice to see it on screen.
I like your witty sayings, Allan

Thanks, Berona - will let you know what happens. Your post re new glasses has reminded me that I also need to have my eyes checked. I'll go in tomorrow and make an appointment. Dread to think of the cost.

Tec - I've PM'd you.

Allan can you not get some info. regarding incoming passengers? Do I remember you saying your OH's family are from the Ukraine?

Diane - it's good to see you. I hope things are looking better for you. I've been thinking of you.

Thats correct Sue. We have OH's papers including her german documents from when she was sent there during the war.

However, her mother and father weren't married at the time but met at the DP Camp. I'll have to check whether we have any of her father's documents, He died just before I met my OH which is a shame..I would have liked to have met him

Allan even if you haven't got documents you should at least write down all the facts and family stories you know of.

I'm trying to keep up tonight, but my brain is on a go slow, if I ignore someone, it is not intentional, so excuse me.

Good Morning Berona, I don't see you as a diamonte type lady, maybe I'm wrong - don't take offence , please, but when I think of an Australian lady with diamonte frames, well, all I see is Dame Edna - no Berona, please don't get them. It will destroy my image of you.

Sue, I think the lady you mention was in one of my organisations - I think they like to rock the boat to seek attention, but usually end up with egg on their faces - good luck with your AGM - I always found them "interesting"

Hello Patricia, Hope you enjoyed Twelfth Night, and got the best seat in the house.

Diane, What a lovely surprise to see you here, we have truly missed you, and hope you are feeling better.

Tec.

Hi Everyone,

NIce to see you posting, Diane.

I missed Julia in Derbyshire's thread, but got the gist of what is happening. What a dreadful thing for her grand-daughter. I hope they get that monster.

On a different note, we had a bushfire less than a kilometre from our house. A crop duster was dropping water (or someone said it was foam). We also had the water bombing helicopter. One person in our street left with his boot tied down, full of stuff. We weren't told to evacuate, but I hosed down the house in case of embers etc. My hubby came home and went down to a bloke who was close to the fire to see if he could help, by then it had moved across and was threatening houses further away. I sat on the back of the ute and watched it all. Anyway, hubby had a grand tour of this blokes massive shed - now he wants one!

I hope Tec and Allan are no longer feeling flat. Good luck with the meeting and the nuisance lady, SueMaid and as Berona is now broke, maybe we should pass the hat around!

Stay beautiful!

Starting another post - jumping site again.

While we were talking to the neighbours from across the road last night, we were telling them how we went to my great great grandfather's old property in NSW and that the current owners weren't home, so we took heaps of photos and nicked some of the soil to show my Dad - turns out they used to live next door to the current owners when they lived in Qld and are friends with them - whoopsie!!!!

Have a lovely day/evening everyone.

Allan Report 28 Sep 2009 23:45

Good morning Alison; i hope that the bush fires are now either out or under control

Sue, that is one of my projects..to write down various things that have happened: the sort of things that I have been puzzling about, for example how I met my OH, the places we have lived etc

Thanks but I'm not still flat, but round again, and could do with getting back into shape - goodness knows I get enough exercise.

Well it would have to be an extremely optimistic bushfire that wanted to cause any damage is SW WA: the rain is pouring down again.

I feel sorry for my Daughter: she has just got back from a fortnight in Coeal Bay in the State's Mid-West. Temps up in the 28/29C. Today's forecast temp for Bunbury,,14C. Pea and ham Soup anybody?
