You two in a padded cell - the mind boggles:-))

Yes Allan - that's our Prof. Clingan. Leading oncologist in our area and a man to be much respected and admired. Absolutely no sense of humour whatsoever:-)))

I know I'm later than usual but I have a good excuse! I came on and read the posts quickly because I was worried about Tec, then I went off to read Sue's item, and here I am at last!

Tec - I hope the Duchess is improving. Take care of her. I must admit that your first post had me think "Poor Tec has gone off the rails", but I'm glad to see you back to normal.

Sue - your article is very good. You should be rightly proud of yourselves. Just please don't move into a fabulous mansion and ride around in chauffer-driven limousines - that would show that your fame has gone to your head and you would probably stop talking to us. I take it that's you in the middle? Good one!

My car passed inspection, even though I didn't wash it. It would have looked out of place. All other cars in the workshop were covered in the same red dust!

"Tec, I think that we would be the only two sensible people in there!"

I was wrong - it's Allan who has gone off the rails.

Good morning Berona.

Now, please don't gang up with Sue to cuff my ears, but I hear that there is a possibility of the dust storm returning!!

I do hope not

Just because I worked for a few years as a Village Idiot, there is no need to typecast me! :0)

Morning all

Tec...Sorry Mrs Tec has been unwell, my best wishes to her xxx

Morning to Allan and Sue.

We have been having a lot of rain over the last couple of days.
Today is our Aussie rules grand final day, its St Kilda verses Geelong.
I would like the Saints to win, so I will watch it later on today. It is forecast for another day of heavy rain so it should make the game interesting!!!

Good Morning Berona, Hope you are well today,

Berona, I went off the rails a long time ago - thought you might have guessed by now.
Will you visit Allan and I in the asylum?

Glad your car passed muster

Good Morning Carole,
Thank you for your kind good wishes to Mrs Tec.
Hope the rain stops in time for the match today.
There's a railway station in Melbourne called St. Kilda,,
I had many sad farewells on that station with my Aussie girlfriend, and nearly froze to death, but that was in another life. I was young and foolish then - now I'm old, and more foolish!

Good morning Berona - glad you get to keep your car on the road another year.

Good article isn't it? I felt very proud to be part of such a great organisation and yes that's me in the middle. The other two ladies are part of our group too. I asked if one or two other people could be included in the photo as I thought it important that all our members be acknowledged.

There was a dust haze over the mountains this morning but it has lifted now. Windy again so we'll see what happens.

I'm taking my mum to the local garden centre as all the new plants are in stock now. It's actually one of the few interests we share so it's always a good morning out.

Hi Tec
That railway station is the team playing in the grand final today, they are sort of the under dog that is why I hope they win. It is supposed to rain all through the game.

Morning to Berona, sorry you snuck on while I was typing earlier :-))

Sorry, Carole - I went a made a cuppa in the middle of typing and missed your thread. I read in the paper that they were making no changes to the teams because of the weather. If you could send a couple of nights rain to us I would be very grateful. Good weather to sit and watch the game:-))

"Geelong skipper Tom Harley says the Cats are ready for anything St Kilda is prepared to throw at them in Saturday's AFL grand final at the MCG.

Melbourne's recent spate of wet weather, with the prospect of hail, heavy rain and strong winds expected to lash the ground after half-time on Saturday, has both teams braced for an ultra-physical clash.

While the Saints are appearing in their first grand final since 1997 and only their third since their one and only premiership win in 1966, the more experienced Cats are appearing in their third straight grand final as they aim for a second flag in three years having ended their 44 year premiership drought in 2007."

Found this on Yahoo news, Carole.

I'm afraid that I am a disappointment to most 'real' Aussies...I'm not really all that interested in Aussie Rules. Like jane, i will take myself down to the shops when the match is on. No Crowds!

ps I am not much interested in soccer either. Too many horrible memories of playing as a schoolboy in the middle of winter...frozen pitches. it was like playing on gravel. One tumble and off came the top layer of skin. And the strip was so thin that you turned blue. We looked like two teams of smurfs battling it out!

I'm not into Aussie Rules or Rugby League either, Allan. Now soccer is our game - our boys played, OH used to coach and is still a sports strapper for our local soccer team.

Allan,
Did you ever have to do cross country running in the snow and ice,
I was very skinny in those days, and honestly thought I was going to die on those runs..........
Those Masters were a sadistic lot........
I suppose it was what they call character building...........

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 25 Sep 2009 23:48

Tec, you have released repressed memories which I would rather forget!

Cross-country running; Yep, compulsory with masters stationed at intervals to ensure we didn't nick of for a sly smoke. There was a school team which was run by the Physics master he was about 60 even back then (I'm talking 1959-1964) BUT he ran in the veterans team for Sale Harriers whci in those days was the top Running Club in England.

I did join the school team, but only to improve my marks in physics as I had sussed out that the lads on his team always got better marks.

I never aceived any ranking, and in fact after some races (those where I hadn't lost my way on the course, he would walk past and mutter "And the last shall be the first, Mortimer, the last shall be the first"!

Tecwyn Report 25 Sep 2009 23:56

what memories they are - enough to make you cringe and recoil......
though I laughed at your physics master.

We had a science master who was deranged - he said it was a waste of time teaching us anything, as we were the degenerate offspring of the flotsam and jetsom of society, and would all be destroyed when the bomb dropped...........I just loved him.......what a nutcase
