Well, I'm not offended by blonde jokes, cos when I do have hair - it's red - with some greys sneaking through!

I had to laugh at Allan's earlier post about putting everyone in alphabetical order - I had done that previously!

Dust not too bad, SueMaid. It's just hazy looking, but you can taste it. Still, it's not as bad as being in the sheep yards with a mob of sheep! I'll be disgusting and tell you, that after a days work in the sheep yards, blowing your nose is not pretty! Ewwwww.

Hooroo Everyone.

Hello Anne,

Welcome to SueMaid's thread! How did you cope with the dust yesterday?

I had better go. I've been waiting for a new desk to be delivered. It came while I was posting and now, I can go into town and do the groceries.

By the way, I have some Scottish ancestors. I would LOVE to go to Scotland one day!!

Cheerio

Anne - welcome to our thread. Please join in often although we're a mad lot:-)) Hope you haven't got too much dust your way.

Alison - do we really want to know about blowing your nose after a day with the sheep;-)))

Berona Report 24 Sep 2009 06:00

I thought I escaped the dust by staying indoors yesterday! Huh! To-day, I opened the roll-a-door of my garage to take out the wheelie bin - and voila! dust everywhere! - and it had been closed and locked all day yesterday!

Seems the dust seeped in through the top of the door! Then, after I dusted the bin before taking it out to the street, I had ideas of taking the car to get an inspection certificate, but it has taken me so long to make it presentable, I'll be going to see the mechanic tomorrow! That dust isn't easy to remove. Now, I find that some of my plants need to have their leaves wiped - watering just isn't enough.

Hello Ann, nice of you to join us. We are very talkative early in the morning (Oz time). That's when we can talk to the Poms before they go to bed. We then talk to each other intermittently between doing jobs and going out - until the Poms join us again. This is a great board - we talk on any subject - and we don't fight! Sue has to give the boys a clip around the ear now and again, but that keeps them in line!

*giggling naughtily*

SueMaid - I could write a very descriptive post of the contents of a hanky after doing sheep work. All you need to do is ask!!!

Speaking of sheep work, the Obituary I put in of my Dad is in the Country Life today. We haven't been able to find later photos of him, on his own, so I put in one of him in the sheep yards. One of my cousins immediately started to cry when she saw it, as she said that is how she remembers him.

Hope Linda and Diane are going ok.

Ciao now

I'm having visions of Berona wiping her plants clean Hyacinth style!!!

Good afternoon all

My son got his drivers license today! as of this minute he is driving around on his own for the first time. As he was leaving I told him no speeding or drink driving...
He's so blase..."don't worry Mum, Ill be fine" of coarse I'm sitting here worrying.

We had a great day in Daylesford!! the girls had a fantastic, if wet trail ride, while my son and I got drenched walking around the lovely town, I was so cold I had to buy myself a jacket. It was quite mild when we left home and not a cloud in the sky, but as soon as I crossed over to the other side of the hills the weather just changed. Its always the way and I'm never prepared, at least it gave me an excuse to add to my wardrobe!!

Welcome to Anne, I hope you come back and visit us often:-))
I'm with you Allison I would also love to visit Scotland!!

Enjoy the rest of your day Aussies/have a beaut day poms;-))

Alison, I have a feeling that you are quite a wicked lady:-)) Stay beautiful!!

Carole congrats to your son for getting his license. I have to say I never stop worrying and if the weather is bad I expect a phone call to let me know they are safe - and my eldest is 35!

Berona we have swept and hosed the front verandah chairs, table and decking and also the plants and it's made little difference. The front window sills have been cleaned and they are ok but the windows are quite dirty. The garage isn't too bad as it's protected by a big gate but the gate's filthy.

Gosh, stay away from this thread for 24 hours and you never know what is going to happen.

Allan talking to rubbish bins - that will get you a walk on part in Dr Who.
Now I know why my screen jumps around – it is you trying to line your papers up.
Alison and the contents of her hanky - that will get her on a medical alert program - perhaps Rapid Response Team would be required.
Carolee –Well done on your son getting his licence. Daylesford is a lovely little place which has a secondhand book shop down by the water side, where one can also get a bowl of soup etc which was lovely on the cold evening I was there. Luckily Daylesford just missed the ravages of the fires in Victoria.
Berona – wondering whether we will get dust as well as wind - think I mentioned dust won’t get through our customs. But wind – well best not discuss that problem. Dust your wheelie bin!!!!! Is this after Allan’s talked to it or before?
Suemaid – Star of the media and screen – soon to have her own star on Allan’s driveway. Well done Sue, will get out the autograph book for when I come over there.
Colin – Pink snow you say – you sure that wasn’t the Aussies pouring beetroot over them. Or maybe it was the water from the pot that the savs were cooked in.
Hello to Anne and of course Sue and her numbers and Tec in the Woolly Hills.
I have seen the threads for Jean – did not know her but I also can sympathise – people do go through some battles with cancer. I have been through it with quite a few members of our family. It all seems so cruel and damn pointless but then what illness isn't?

It has rained with a vengeance on and off all day – we went to the library and parked in a 20min spot but had to stay for over an hour. We would have got drenched getting back to the car which was parked right by the library. Luckily the parking wardens were also sheltering from the rain somewhere. Yes we have a lot of green areas in our suburbs but some parts of the country can get very dry and brittle looking in the summer.

Fondest thoughts to Diane and Linda

Perse.

Me? like Hyacinth???? Oh my goodness, NEVER!!

I'm going to bed soon - and I know I'll have nightmares now!

I never hen-pecked my OH or made him wear a tie to breakfast - nor have I sent any vicar scurrying to hide somewhere. I get on well with the postman - although I'm sure he can't read English - but I do like the idea of candlelight suppers. I have the fine china, even if it doesn't have the periwinkle design!

SueMaid Report 24 Sep 2009 22:04

Good morning/evening everyone:-) Hope you are all well. I've woken to a glorious morning - sunshine, no wind, no dust.

We attempted to wash down the front verandah yesterday afternoon but the dust won't budge so we will have to get out our heavy duty broom and give the decking a good scrub. The railings and furniture are also still covered in what now looks like red paste. I think we need a good downpour of rain. Even the plants still look dirty despite a good hosing.

Well now that I'm yesterday's news it's back to the nitty-gritty of what I do. We have our AGM next week and although we have an independent returning officer there are still things we need to do. As in most organisations there isn't a line up of people wanting to go on the committee.

Hello all. Another bright, sunny day is descending upon us. I have to make another effort to clean the red dust from my car before I take it to get the inspection done. There shouldn't be a problem, though. The same mechanic serviced it only recently.

Hope you Brits have had a good day. Pleasant dreams to those leaving us - and Aussies and Kiwis - have a nice day!

Good morning/evening everybody

Welcome Ann, this is a user friendly thread with a few mad moments thrown in: please visit often.

I had a heck of a job getting on line today and in my usual frustration sarted hitting the keys a myriad of times then spent 10 minutes trying to delete all the programs i had inadvertently loaded. Finally tuyrned the puter off at the wall and started again.....

Peresephone doe the above sound as though I am Dr Who material? more like Dr What, I think

I hope that Linda and Diane are both well.

G'day Mates!,

SueMaid - sometimes there is a naughty little elf within me, just waiting to burst out!

Berona - I luuuuurve Hyacinth. She's always polishing her leaves. When my sister and I were doing the Order of Service pamphlet for Dad's funeral, we put on the back that a "finger booffet" would be provided afterwards. (it was midnight, the night before the funeral - guess we were over-tired!)

Persey - It's been 20 years since I did sheep work, so there's no worry with the hanky issue!

Apparently the dust storm will be returning but not to the degree it was on Wedndesday - so don't clean up yet!

Cheerio to all. Hi to Pat who popped in before.
