Hi, Carole - thank you for the birthday wishes. It's tomorrow the 19th - today is actually my grandmother's birthday. She would have been 96. We're not doing anything special - a family dinner is the usual and always nice.

I used to like school holidays too. The break from routine and also having them home. Summer holidays meant camping at Forster/Tuncurry. The family still reminisce about our holidays. OH would work over Christmas and New Year so we had extra money. Those were the days:-))

Colin thank you for the grevilleas - I hope you didn't steal them from someone's garden. I had to smile about your comments re the Hot Matches. My OH has an Elizabeth Brown in his tree. I've been matched up with every Elizabeth Brown in existence:-))

Carole, enjoy the school holidays.

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,

Sue,...Happy Birthday to you - Happy Birthday to you, hope you have a lovely day. Sending you flowers, chocs, strawberries and champagne - enjoy.

The best lead I ever had was through Hot Matches, regarding my mother's family, who were proving very difficult. I contacted someone who was related to that family by marriage. He was so helpful, and had such valuable information. Now I always check, you never know.

Another glorious autumn day here - Im working in the garden today, repotting bulbs. I like to have pots of spring bulbs dotted about my front garden - miniture daffodil, snowdrops etc.

Berona...... Thankyou for asking, my eyes are brown, to match my labrador's, not sure what colour goes with brown, I'm sure you will know a perfect match. Don't eat all that lettuce, your nose will twitch, and your ears grow long..

Diane sent a message, and said to say "Hi" to everyone.

Have to get back to my potting while the sun shines.

Hello to Allan, Alison, Carole, Colin, and anyone I missed.

Speak to you later - bye for now,

Tec.

Rise and shine, Aussies mates - and time to wind down for the evening our Pommie friends:-))

Tec, thank you for the wonderful gifts - I shall enjoy them:-)

Diane sent me a lovely birthday message and also asked me to pass on her thanks to everyone for thinking of her.

Good morning to all others - and good evening to those who have not yet slept!

Tec - if your eyes are anything like a Labrador's - you must be very lovable! I'll give some serious thought to the colour of your nightcap now.
I've decided to make the last stripe on Allan's a candy pink - so that when I sew it up and leave a little hole in the centre - if you can see his skin through it, you won't notice it!

Good Morning Berona,
What an amazing picture you did for Sue, how did you do that?
I see you are a lady of hidden talents.
My labrador is lovable, and soppy. As for me, well I'm just soppy.
Hope you are skipping about today.

Good Morning Allan,

How be you this fine day?
Been meaning to ask - do you get platypus ducks in your garden?

Thank you Allan:-))

Some gardening advice please. I bought a pot of lovely lillies last year. When they died off I left the tubers/bulbs in the pot and they've come up again. They look strong and healthy but probably too many for the pot. Can I divide them at this stage or is it too late? Would I be better just transferring the lot into a bigger pot?

No Tec, the cat ate the last one so I ran over it in the car..

We now have a duck filled flatty puss!

Sue...........
I also grow lillies in pots - asiatic variety.
If they are already showing growth, then personally I would transfer them to a bigger pot, otherwise you may disturb the root system that will also be growing. You could take a chance in dividing them, maybe all that would happen is that you set them back a few weeks.

Allan,
You have reduced Mrs Tec to hysterics, bad for her at this time of night.

Allan

Allan Report 18 Sep 2009 22:56

Sue, I'm not sure about that, but if you are going to transplant to a larger pot I'd divide a few off and see how they go

We have a cyclamen pot plant that keeps coming up year after year without any attention from us.

Advice from an English Gardening Guru when asked the best time to take cuttings...when you are least likely to be caught in the act!!

Berona Report 18 Sep 2009 23:03

I'm no authority on tubers/bulbs, but if they were mine, I would have a go at dividing them, rather than take the risk of them becoming pot-bound. There is limited room enough in a pot and limited nutrients. Otherwise, you will need to keep the nutrients up to them.
