Sue,
I hope the little lad is soon well.......... give him a paintbrush, and maybe he could "help" Grandad. - job be done in half the time!

Allan,
They're off to Perth, living it up, being Cool Cats in the city.
If I were a cat, and I lived in your house, I would run away.

Good morning everyone. Please leave Allan alone...I wonder if he would like me to knit him a beanie to protect his head? It must be cold in the winter and would get blisters in the summer, if he didn't look after it. He hasn't told us how long it is yet...but Allan, I don't think stealing fur from the cat is the answer.

Sue - hope the grandchildren are soon over their 'bug' and all healthy again.

Diane - I agree with Tec that you are under a strain and I hope you will sort it all out soon and be happy again.

Linda - What can I say here that hasn't already been said? Just that it's good to know your Mum is coherent and reasonably peaceful and in no pain. Also, that we are all thinking of you, not just when we come onto this board. Be thankful that you have had your Mum for this long and that if it is time for her to leave, you have all of those wonderful memories to keep you strong. Take care.

I don't think that would be a great idea, Tec. He drew on the wall in his room with a bright red crayon the other day. He wrote his name and numbers 1 to 5. My daughter said he wrote them perfectly and she was torn between telling him off and praising his writing skills. He was told off:-) I reminded her of a time when she also drew all over the wall at around the same age because I'd sent her to her room.

Allan,
How far are you from Freemantle?
That was my very first site of Australia back in 1958, it was "different" to anywhere I had ever seen.
Maybe it has changed?

Good morning, Berona. Two grandchildren with the bug - one to go. Poor little things - it's not a nice bug. It saps their energy and they've both been so miserable.

I've got to address a group of volunteers this morning about changes to their working conditions. They will need extra training and they are very very resistant. Most are threatening to leave if they have to retrain mostly because it will include a very small amount of computer knowledge. I can understand their feelings but are we ever too old to learn new skills?

Good morning Berona,

Thank you for your support...I shall wear it with pride!

Tec, we are about 150 kms south of Fremantle. I think that you would still recognise it, particularly the port area. The Orient Hotel is still going strong, as is the Esplanade, although now as a 41/2 star hotel.

I much prefer Freo to Perth as it has a special atmosphere, very few high rise buildings and retention of old buildings.

I don't like the man but credit has to go to Alan Bond for preserving may of the old buildings when he established the Notre Dame University campus in the town. Many of the buildings are now used for classes but the pubic do get access during vacations.

Good Morning Berona.........

Why are you suddenly so protective of Allan? I know, it's in case you end up sharing your apartment wih him. Hope he doesn't disturb you when he leaves on his walks in the middle of the night. If you catch site of him in that get-up, you will be disturbed.

Allan........Berona asked you how long your head is?

Sue, no we are never too old to learn. Whilst I found the recent Auditor's course hardwork I felt as pleased as punch when I got my certificate.

It was also of note that may of the younger course members also struggled as the concept was an entirely new one for all of us

Allan,
I remember some of the old buildings. I remember the shops with like a Victorian style glass canopy, for want of a better description.
The town did have a special atmosphere then.
There was a pub called the First and Last, for obvious reasons, I wonder if that's still there?

Maybe the cats only got that far

Before all this talk about my head gets out of hand (sort that one out) I should point out that I do possess more than one hair. I habe also painted a few rabbits on my head as from a distance they look like hares!

Allan

PS Berona, no need for a beanie, but thank you for the thought: I wear my Paddington Bear Rainhat all the day

Sue,
Yes - I am too old to learn - my brain refuses to cope with anything else.
I am just happy with what what I know now.

Allan Report 14 Sep 2009 23:10

Tec,

The First and Last doesn't ring any bells but the name may have changed. Also some of the hotels are no longer licenced and are used as back-packers hostels

Behave you fellas - Berona keep an eye on them:-))

Just got kicked off here, had to sign in again, twice.

Allan, Methinks you should have left home with the cats,

Now we have a headless, hairy legged maid in strange clothes.
It just gets more and more bizarre.

I think we could write a successful comedy script with this

Allan Report 14 Sep 2009 23:44

Tec, at least I still get to wear my hat...and I don't have to stretch my arms to put it on.

The Headless, Hairy legged Maid is abroad once, more haunting the Welsh moors and mountains, striking fear into the hearts of the sheep.

'Tis a dreadful sight to behold and locals do say that once the apparition is seen people become as rocks, with ever a faint twitch whilst trying to contain their shrieks.....of laughter!
