Hi Carole,
Good luck on the horse if you're still here.

Good morning Carole

Funny things, hands: My MIL who was Ukrainian and used to working in the fields, was forever touching my hands!

She couldn't believe how soft they were (I was doing clerical work) compared to those that she was used to!

The easiest way to get off a horse is not to get on in the first place!

I just love this thread. A mixture of craziness and solemnity - with every one talking across to each other in posts that take a while to type - then 'submitted', only to find that four others have got there first - and are talking about something totally different! It keeps the mind active. Taking in the serious information, then getting a laugh.

I have to laugh and leave you now. Haven't done any grocery shopping for two weeks - but can't put it off any longer. I'm beginning to feel like Mother Hubbard. Sleep well, Poms - Have a good day, Aussies/Kiwis.

Well! I have gone off being an Oz for the week at least......the Irish in me veins is a calling me and I have to weigh up the pros and cons

Hi Susan10146857. You should be comfortable being Irish. A lot of them came here as cons. Some as pros (sorry). Any significance with all your numbers? On another site I use Tommy (my baby nickname) plus my postcode, but that is only four numbers.
Sue Maid, I have not been on because I was a bit embarassed by your description. Serious? Moi? Although I like intelligent, and am flattered that you fiind me interesting. Thank you for saying you like my posts. Sometimes the creative urge gets me and I have to waffle, although I think the modern term is blog.
Tec, I thought you semi-offered me the position of butler. I don't know how to buttle, but I don't think I am old enough. About Allan's vintage, and I also have hairy legs. Mine are blond, possibly because they never see the sun (long trousers even in summer). The hair on my head on the other hand is dark brown (still) so I am doing well. Obviously picked good genes. Father's was dark until he died; but then he was only 54.
Mother's father was white but had a good head of hair in his eighties.
Too much skiting?

Morning all,

Allan if you only have one hair on your head, is it about three feet long and wrapped round and round to cover your bald pate? The ultimate comb over

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 14 Sep 2009 09:59

Hello everyone:-) I love this thread too, Berona. Only thread on here that can discuss - in depth - the one hair on Allan's head.

I just made a mushroom risotto for tea and did a darn good job at it too. OH pronounced it delicious. I'm rather pleased with myself:-))

Colin I do hope your weren't offended by my description - I meant it in the nicest possible way. I actually think you have a quietly wicked sense of humour but you certainly appear to have a serious side. You have to come and work for Tec and the Duchess - we're all going to wreak havoc and you know that's going to be fun:-)

Linda how's your mum doing?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Sep 2009 10:26

Good morning Sue,

Mum is much the same, but the blood test results are showing that the infection is on the increase again and they still are not sure where it is coming from. She is on three different types of intravenous broad spectrum antibiotics, so on Saturday, they altered one of those, but they have done that before to no avail.

Yesterday they were worried because her urine output has fallen dramatically. they keep giving her fluids through the drip but her body is so water logged that it is a fine balancing act. Her arms and legs are so swollen and she has fluid in her lungs as well as the pneumonia. I noticed that the wrist band had caught her arm and there was liquid dripping out through the scuff. This happened to her last year when she was in for a month, then she accidentally caught her leg with her finger nail and the fluid poured out for days. It was brilliant because the swelling in one leg went right down, she was seriously considering scratching her other leg to do the same.

On a positive note her blood pressure was better yesterday, it was 97 over 63. On Saturday, they took it while I was there and it was a magnificent 64/34

She is very tired, but is chirpy enough,so I will just have to see how she is this afternoon.

Sue,I hope they were not mushrooms you picked yourself in the woods!!!!

I have just realised the time,so I had better get on the move, catch you later

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 14 Sep 2009 10:38

The mushrooms I put in OH's serve were from the woods:-))))

Sorry to hear that your mum still not too good. Good to see that her blood pressure has gone up though - 64/34 is scary.

My daughter regularly gives my mum a pedicure and she noticed mum's legs were very swollen. She was concerned enough to tell me so I talked mum into going to the doctor's. She said she could feel the fluid running down her legs. It turned out to be her medication - but what really annoyed me is that the doctor told her awhile back that it was normal in a woman of her age. That's why she didn't do anything about it. I think if I hadn't been there he would've sent her on her way again.

Berona Report 14 Sep 2009 11:22

Colin - I think you will make a good butler. Make sure you wear the white gloves though. That upstairs maid with the hairy legs needs to be watched!
Otherwise, it should't be hard buttling (? is that a word?) and you would have others there to see that the lord and master isn't too hard on you.

Linda - I have been wondering how things are with your Mum. She sounds like she is a fighter - and I'm sure that is half the battle at times. Good to know she is still chirpy. We are all thinking of you.

SueMaid - how is your grand-daughter now? She wasn't too well at the weekend. Hope she is better now.

Sue/with numbers - You have been listening to the sad Irish songs - that's made you decide not to be an Aussie this week. You can still join us on here anyway. Everyone's welcome.

Allan Report 14 Sep 2009 12:23

Linda, my thoughts are still with you and your mum. I'm afraid my faith in the medical profession took a nose dive when my pulmonary embolism was first diagnosed as gall stones. I survived despite medical intervention.

I'm proud of my one hair...I would never tear my hair out in a fit of rage:)

Berona, am i the maid with hairy legs or spiderman? I get so confused.

I was even telling a joke about a squid on another thread recently

Sue, we should go mushroom picking in Ballingup, but we would have to avoid the Police. Any risotto made with those mushrooms would be an experience

Carole, I joke about my 'one' hair....I actually have two

Regards to all,

Allan
