Member Since: July 2008 Posts: 211 Send Message	I'm not really sure what board this should be on but it's really a general query and I'm not looking for help. Chasing up on my gr grandmother's family I discovered that her mother re-married (no record of what happened to her father) and had another family, while Fanny was brought up by her mother's parents. The oddity is this: in 1861 mother and stepfather are listed with a daughter, whose birth I found, and a son, William, whose birth I can't find. The other children's births are registered and above board. I found a baptism for him about a year after one would expect - but with parents listed under a different surname! In 1841 there was a William living with the mother, her husband and her parents, probably a brother. I have found a birth for a William in the right district, right year with William snr's surname. There are a number of marriages for people with the parents names as listed in the baptism but none which jump out at me as being the right one - all in different districts from all the birth registrations. I have thought that perhaps something happened to his parents and that the sister took him on, having him baptised with their surname but giving the correct parents' names. What do people think?
