MrDaff Report 30 Dec 2010 21:55

Meeting went ahead, but with key Dr not there (off sick....do doc's allow themselves to get sick???).
Outcome: Daff to be discharged on 10 Jan, the delay being to allow Social to get the care package together and implemented, and that will start on the 10th.
Medically she remains under the same doc's and will have to attend the leukemia day clinic for regular checks etc.
As far as the 'confusion' is concerned, that is probably not going to change - what's gone is gone, though I'm not convinced Daff will see it like that and there is a large part of our brain that is not used..... that side of it is for me to pondered on....
Physio's and Occu' Therapists happy with Daff's progress and see no reason for her not coming home, though I've stated that until she is home then any care package is based on assumption, and the SW agreed. The package being put in place is flexible, and can be adapted day by day, even hour by hour.
Long way to go, but now the horizon is becoming a ridge....and i love climbing anyway !!

Rgds,
R.

Sounds like you have them under control Major R. Hopefully it will all come together. I am not convinced that what has gone has gone. I was only reading yesterday of somebody badly injured with a brain injury that usually kills. She has gradually little by little regained some of her 'lost' functions and memories can with patience be re-learned. Many people who have suffered a brain haemhorrage will have found their way back. I am sure that once Daff is back in the real world she will be fighting to reclaim herself. If their is any way T and I can help please do not hesitate to call on us.

Onwards and upwards!!! Roll on 10th January.

Yes good news, does this mean troops will need to plan an escape route again, BC was very good last time with her parashute bloomers.

Must get into shape now and polish me boots and smarten uniform up.

Hoping the climb won't be too steep.

love to you both and ~~~~~~~~madly to troops

Jan the 10th is on my calender now !!!! Not long to go Mr Daff.Unfortunately Drs do succumb to illness now and then as OH has done today lol.The dreaded lurgy that is going around.
You never know .Once Daff is home for good little things around the home may trigger something in her memory .
Thanks once again for taking your time to keep us all up to date with the latest info. xxx

I'm so pleased that you now have a date to focus on Mr Daff , I feel sure that once Daff is back in her home surroundings she will start to regain some more of herself . Little things about the house are bound to jog memories and just the sense of being " home " will help her immeasurably .

My thoughts rest with both of you x

Only time will tell regarding the memory. It is well known for peole to get their memories back slowly. My OH lost his memory for the past when he had electrotherapy 30 odd years ago. He has gradually regaine a lot of it though I can remember more about his family than he can. he will suddenly come up with a statement of what he and his Dad would do. Memories since the treatment seem mostly to be in place. So dont give way to despair, Daff still knows she loves you and the family and thats all that counts in the end.

Wonderful news and I agree with the other troops - Daff will go from strength to strength in her own home and surrounded by familiar people and things will certainly gain back much of what seems lost.
