Hi Jean, wondering where you were, sorry that you have had the dreaded vertigo---lets hope that you are over the very worse of it now. l have been looking in each evening but not posting. Let's hope that you are able to use your new die later on today.....you'll then know that you are much better.

It's our day for doing the weekly shop, so will go as soon as Alun arrives home.
Not a job that I like, but it has to be done.lol!!

Mo, I know you and Roly have Lilly today, you will both have enjoyed having her but feeling a bit worn out by the time she goes home.lol!!

I hope your new fire is in and working alright now. Even though we have central heating, I still like to see the glow of a fire...sometimes still seem to live in days gone by.lol!!

Ann, how are things with you and T? Hope that you are both alright.

Huia, hope you are feeling a bit better and not so tired now.

Well, must go and get ready to do the shopping, might look in again later on.

Glad that you and Roly are safe with no damage Mo.
Sounds like you ere lucky and also that you had secured everything. We put our garden table etc in a safer place but luckily the storm missed us.
That was sad about that young girl wasn't it? We saw it on the news, poor lass, so young. :-)

Mo in Kent Report 28 Oct 2013 19:36

Hello girls,
Thank goodness the storm is now gone. Last night it was horrendous, lashing down with rain, and the winds were awful and frightening.
At six thirty this morning, I went out in the garden to ensure that everything was safe, fortunately it was, apart from my peg tin, it had blown off the garden table the lid had somehow come off, and the pegs were all over the garden, but that was nothing to worry about.
But when I looked over the garden fence, next doors wooden garden table, was laying down the bottom of their garden, smashed to smithereens, the big heavy duty boxes they store all their garden tools in was also smashed. The brown wheelie bin that the garden refuse goes in, was laying on it's side, with all the food and garden scraps, spread everywhere. We were so lucky to get away scot free really.
A young 17 year old girl was killed, in a village near us last night. A tree fell onto the caravan she was staying in, whilst her parents were renovating their house. How sad, she was so young.
Luckily we didn't have any power cuts to make the situation worse.

I was in the kitchen earlier, and I could hear water dropping onto the extension roof.
When I went into the garden, the header tank overflow was pouring with water. So Roly has had to go up in the attic to sort out the ball valve, thankfully it has now stopped. Now that we are on a water meter, that was all we needed, to waste water is sacrilege.

I hope all our friends are safe and warm, following the storm.
Bye for now my friends, take care. Love and hugs Mo xxx

ooh I thought I had added to this thread recently, looks like I haven't, sorry. I have been reading though. Glad your appointment went well Mo and the results were good. I don't remember eading where the cyst is but good to know it is just a cyst, hope you don't need any further treatment anyway.
glad you enjoyed your meals out and your birthday.

Jean, if we eat out we normally go at lunch time as we like to go on the bus and don't feel that town is so safe in the eveings with all the people in and out of pubs and clubs.

Leg is recovering well after the minor op. Just like a ¾ inc h scraze, uncovered now and not painful unless I rub or knock it.

We seem to have escaped the storm, it was very wet over night and breezy but no real storm despite being on amber alert.

Hello girls, hope that you are all okay after the night storms. It wasn't too bad here, just some heavy rain showers.

Mo, it looks as though you have had it quite badly there in Kent...hope that you are not without power.

I haven't heard anything from Richard, so things must be okay there.

Speak to you all later.

Take care.

Hi girls,

Thank goodness all went well for you at the hospital on Friday. Let's hope that you will have no more problems with it in the future. I can imagine worried you were, I know I would have been the same as you.

Sounds as though you and Roly had a lovely meal out with your family,
yesterday evening. It's great having the family all around you. Was Lilly there, or was it adults only>

It's lovely having the 'littlies ' visit ....butit is very tiring, but still wouldn't be without them. Hope all goes well for you on Wednesday, and that you won't be too tired.

Have you found out when your friend's is yet? Thinking about her family and that it all goes well for them.

Jean, thank you for the info, I'll have a look on the website to see if I can find any size 3 shoes that I like in my size.

I bought the Cheery Lynn Christmas die, ' Merry Christmas and Holly Sentiment',
I haven't tried it yet, but I've wanted a Christmas Sentiment die for a while.
It's fatal going into the one craft shop in Derby, they sell most makes of dies, with a good selection of dies.

I hope that the coming storms won't be as bad as they have forecast, I'm sure that D will be fine and she will show her common sense if it is bad. I'm just the same worrying about Richard, where he goes to has lots of trees, so warned him on the phone to take a lot of care around when he's out in the care in those areas.

Ann, hope that you are feeling much better today and not in too much discomfort.

Hope that they won't keep you waiting too long for the carpet estimate and that they will fit it very soon.

Huia, hope you are feeling better and not so tired now.Did you get to Hamiliton okay and enjoyed your time with the family.

Well girls, take care!

Speak to you tomorrow.

Mo in Kent Report 26 Oct 2013 22:33

Hello everyone,
Sorry Sallie, I forgot to let you know how it went at the hospital yesterday.
The specialist said the results of my blood test were good....pardon me, but what was the blood test for, she said that it was to see if the cyst was cancerous, and luckily for me it wasn't.
They don't intend to do anything about the cyst, but if in the future it should start to give me pain, then I am to go back to the doctor, and get me referred back to the hospital.
Thank the good lord, it has been a worry, but now I can relax, and enjoy life again.
Thank you all for your support.
I am pleased you had a lovely time away Sallie, but there is no place like home is there.
My daughter has problems getting shoes as well. She is between a 2 and 3, depending on the make, and in some shops all she could get at one time were childrens shoes. But these days, children are more fashion concious, and retailers are following what youngsters want, and buying in more fashionable shoes in smaller sizes.
We couldn't get Zoey's christmas present in Ar*os after all, so we went to Toys R *s,
it cost more, but it was what our grandaughter wanted for baby, so we got it whilst we could.
As for the darts, we lost, but I was lucky to win my singles game, and my partner and I won our pairs. So I don't feel to badly about us losing, it was only by one point anyway.
We have been out for a lovely meal tonight, with the family. I had sizzling chicken, with BBQ sauce, mushrooms, corn on the cob, tomato's and chips, it was yummy.
Everyone else had a dessert, but Roly and I were absolutely stuffed, and couldn't eat one.
We had our Lilly for four hours today, it was sooo lovely. We are also having her on Wednesday, but that is for the whole day, and it tires us easily, I do prefer to have her for just the four hours, but circumstances means that we have got her this Wednesday as well. Our son has got a health and safety course he has to do that day, so he can't miss it.

Well girls, it's time for bed, so I will say goodnight god bless. Love and hugs Mo xxx

Hello girls, we are back from Richard's, has a lovely day with him, unfortunately Christie had to work as she has only been working there for six weeks, so couldn't get any time off.

We went to Reading first thing on Thursday morning, then after shopping and an early lunch there, we decided to go to Windsor, (I love it there) where I bought a couple more Christmas pressies. After a lovely meal out we started our journey home. Yesterday we were out and about quite a bit, and been to Derby this morning....think it's time to settle down now and to get few jobs.lol!!

Mo, how did things go at the hospital for you? I hope everything went alright for you. I tried late yesterday evening to get onto This thread, but for some reason, kept getting the Error message......I know it wasn't my laptop this time.

So sorry to hear about your friend Jean, I hope that she didn't suffer towards the end and that it was peaceful. R.I.P.

Hope you and your team won the match on Thursday night.

Also hope you and Roly managed to get baby Zoey's Christmas present from Argos the other day.....and you didn't get it wrong.lolol!!! I sometimes think that the younger generation think we are not capable of following simple instructions.lolol!!

Jean, hope all went well with your eye appointment and that there was no problems.

I still haven't had time to look at that site on YouTube, but hopefully will be able to look at it tomorrow.

Thank you we had a lovely day with Richard. Jennie came with us so that she could share the driving with Alun, but drove there and back home again......she enjoys driving, it relaxes her. Richard did the driving while we were down there, it's easier to let him drive as he knows all the short cuts around the areas. I think Alun was glad to drive our car again on Thurday night.lol!!!!

Ann, hope that you are alright after your hospital appointment and that haven't suffered too much pain.

Well, I even looked for shoes in Reading and Windsor, with no luck at all....beginning to think I'll have to manage on my old shoes.lol!!

I bought a new die this morning, I didn't really need to buy anything but once they showed me the new Cheery Lynn die, I couldn't resist it.

Huia, hope that you are feeling less tired and were able to get your shopping done, and were able to visit Phil on the following day......hope that he is going along oaky.

Did you enjoy your visit to see your two grt.grandsons. I'm sure that you see a difference in them both each time you visit them. Trouble is they seem to grow up so quickly and wonder where the years have gone.

Sylvia and Marie, hope that you and your families are all well.

Take care everyone.

Thank you Jean and Sallie. My friend Jean passed this lunch time, with both of her daughters present, god bless and rest in peace Jean.xxx

Well, the ongoing saga of the fire.....the old one is out, but the new one is not what we expected unfortunately. But it will do for now, and I daren't say to much, or Roly will flip his lid after all the lugging and hauling he did, to get the old one out.
At the moment, we have a gaping hole, where the old fire came out, I just hope and pray no birds decide to fly down the chimney, to pay us a visit over night.
Oh good grief, if I get up in the morning, to find the lounge covered in soot, I shall scream, and even worse if I discover a bird.
We have put the old fire outside the house, waiting to see if it will vanish as quickly as the old radiator did, when the workmen put it out. lol

Thank the lord your eyes are o.k for the next six months Jean. You can continue with your wonderful card making my love.

I hope Sallie and Alun have had a nice time down at Richards, she will be back before we blink I know. :-S :-S :-S

Must go now girls, got a bit of clearing up to do, before I get ready for darts.
Take care everyone, love Mo xxx

Oh Mo, how awful for your friend Florence, I hope and pray that the operation and treatment will go well for her. Feel sorry for her son, bless him for all the support he has given his mum and then for his dad to be so unfeeling and harsh towards him. Will be keeping them both in my thoughts.

Also sorry to hear about your other friend, I hope that she won't suffer too much and the end will be peaceful.

Don't worry about loading your worriesn to us, we are your friends and are here to listen and support you. Will keeping you your friends and their families in my prayers and thoughts.

Mo, I thought the appointment re cyst was sometime towards the end of this month.
I hope all goes well with your appointment and that it can be easily sorted
GOOD LUCK!!! <3 <3

You never know Mo, you might get the fire fitted tomorrow. :-D :-D :-D Let's hope so.lol!!

Jean, I have had a look at your pics... cards are all lovely as always. Thanks, Ill try the shim as you have said and will have a look at that site on YouTube.

Our bedroom needs decorating, Alun has been going to do it since last February and still hasn't been done....was going to do it this week while he was on holiday...looks as though it won't be done this side of Christmas.lol!!

Talking about cleaners, we have a Henry, it's really good, but I find that it's a bit heavy and awkward to get it upstairs, so thinking of getting a lighter one that I can use for my craft room, as you know it get's in a mess at times.lol!!!

Ann, did you and T manage to get a new cleaner this morning? Hope you got what you wanted at B&Q too.

I won't be around tomorrow, as we are off to Richard's, picking Jennie up at
6 o clock in the morning, so off to bed soon. Will speak to you all on Friday.

Mo, some more GOOD LUCK wishes for Friday.<3 <3

Take care everyone.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 23 Oct 2013 21:17

Hello my lovelies.
Talking of B+Q's Ann, we went there today, being Wednesday and pensioners saving day, we went to look for a fire for our lounge.
When we had the radiators done last week, we had our gas fire capped off, and decided we would like a flame electric fire instead.
Just have a look said our Roly....well we ended up by buying one, and saved ourselves £16.00.
Now all I have to do, is wait patiently for Roly to fit it, remembering that we bought the bedside cabinets when I was still at work, back in 2008, that are still sitting in the garden shed lol.

I have had two lots of very bad news today. Firstly my dear friend Florence has been told that the growth in her nose, is definately Cancer.
They have said that she could have radio-therapy, but that it probably wouldn't work.
So she has to go into East Grinstead hospital, for it's removal, and plastic surgery on her nose.
I know what a wonderful hospital East Grinstead is, with all the work they did on WW2 troops, after being badly injured by burns etc, but it's still such a worry.
And to top it all, her husband has still not returned from Dubai, and wont be coming until she has the actual operation.
I feel so sad for her and her son, who broke down today, when he had to explain to his father what was truly wrong with his mother. His father told him to grow up and be a man. For goodness sake, this lad has been his mothers support all through this, and had a right to be upset when trying to explain things.

Then we had a phone call, to tell us that another dear friend has only days to live.
We went straight to the hospital, to see her and her daughters, and I am hoping that she makes it through to Friday, when, god willing I will see her again, as it's the day I have to see the specialist myself re my cyst.

I am sorry girls, I shouldn't load my worries onto you, but it helps to get it off my chest, but I promise to be more cheerful tomorrow.
I will also tell you if the fire has been taken out of it's packaging, and if there is any progress in it's being installed. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Night Night god bless, love and hugs, Mo xxx

JustJean Report 23 Oct 2013 10:14

Thanks Ann, we bought a new cleaner its a Henry and its great my Gtech packed in so we got a lightweight plug in vac for everyday use and love it .

we also are thinking of getting someone to redecorate the lounge and probably get the carpet and suite cleaned later, every thing looks dull but the thoughts of doing it yuk.....we also need a new covering in the kitchen, we had a leak and the covering soaked all the water up so had to go to the tip. does it never end :-| :-| :-|

lousy day here again, but forecast for tomorrow looks brighter so we will have lunch out I think , ....no we wont, my eye appointment is 1.50pm and we waited two hours last time I went . just hoping the cataracts are behaving themselves....

good luck with the buying have you any special colour in mind?

see you later.. love jean xx

Morning friends, pouring down here , still not a lot we can do about it...

Sallie, I put the magnetic shim on top of the card with the dies face up underneath, if your dies move about, put them on the card face down stick them down then turn the card over and put the shim on then your A plate, there is a tutorial on you tube showing how to do it..... with thicker dies you just need the A plate, but do use the waved paper ;-) ;-) ;-) I have a pic of my last card with the new dies I will send it to you and Ann soon as I can...sorry Ann this should really be on the hobbies board, but I have no Idea how to cut and paste so here it is....

Jean, yes I tried out my new toy this evening........not too bad, I think it's a case of getting use to it.lol!!

Not sure about the magnetic shim though, it slips even though I use low tack masking tape.......not sure if it's the shim or the waxed paper that's causing it to slip.
Do you have any ideas on how I can get around it, pretty please?

Ann, I looked in the M&S outlet on Sunday, but the shoes that I liked started at size 5.... .I'm sure I will get some soon.lol!!

Going to have a nice hot drink now and then it's off to bed.
