Mo in Kent Report 18 Jan 2014 18:55

Hello girls,
Just popping in to say hello to you all.
I am still not feeling to good. I went and saw the doctor on Friday morning, and he listened to my chest and lungs....he was not very happy, and sent me straight to the hospital for a chest xray, and has put me on a new set of anti-biotics.
The results should be back within five working days, but I am not feeling any better I am afraid to say.
Hopefully I will be up to chatting more tomorrow.
Take care everyone, it was so nice to read all your news.
Love and hugs Mo xxx

Hi Ann, yes I found the same at both the Nottingham and Staines stores......in fact both stores also have a fair sized area given up to cake decorating, there seemed to be loads of cake tins, moulds, icing etc..... in both the stores, great if you are into that kind of thing.

I've just had a quick look on the card making sites, I'm looking for something different that I can use for Easter cards (not that I make many) but can't see very much of anything on them. At the moment I miss going to the craft shops in Derby, especially one of them.lol!!

Hello All. Jean Lol, birthdays are bad enough without them coming round every 6 months!!!

Marie, good to see you, it seems we are all getting extremes of weather. We in the UK will shortly be growing flippers. However, a plus is that it is not cold. I hope the house sells soon or your garden may not get watered. You will miss your grandson, hopefully he will stay in touch by e mail. I do hear sparodically from mine, usually when they want something :-D

Sallie, glad you were able to get out for a short while, disappointing not to find anything to buy, I thought htat the last time I went to Hobbycraft, they seem to have cut right back on the card making stuff and there was loads of knitting.crocheting and bead making stuff. I have bad about four very easy cards this week, not many but a start.

Mo. Hope that you are better now and that you had a slice of cake. Lily looked pleased with her present in the FB photo.

Hi Marie, lovely to hear from you and to know that you are all alright. I see from the watching the news of the cricket how hot it is over there.....it would be far too hot for me, I'm afraid........still all the rain we are having is terrible, feel so sorry for all the poor people whose homes have been flooded, lets hope that they can get some financial help to get their homes sorted.

Talking of rain, I slipped on the wet floor of the bus two weeks ago and tore the ligaments in my left leg, so having to rest it a good bit of the time. It's slowly getting better and I can hobble along slowly with the help of a stick.lol!! Still the doctor at the hospital did say it can take up to six weeks to get better. Thank you for asking.

Enjoy the farewell B B Q for your grandson tonight. Wishing him a safe journey to Melbourne and hope that he will find a teaching job very soon. Sending him very best wishes for the future.

Hope all you girls are all okay today.

Speak to you all later.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Lol!! Jean, better than having it arrive 5months too late. I don't know what it is lately, but I seem to be having trouble remembering birthdays......it must be old age.

Jennie wanted to go to Hobby Craft this afternoon, she is going to try making some bracelets, so we decided to go too. I had a slow walk with the help of a stick around the card making area........a bit disappointing didn't seem to have much of anything new there at all.......so didn't spend any money at all, which is very unusual for me.lol!!

I shall be glad when my leg is better, as it's still a bit painful getting about, but if I just stay at home all the time I'll go crazy.

Sylvia, hope that all went well at your SinL's Memorial Service. Have a good trip home tomorrow.
Also hoping that you have received better news of your daughter over the last day or two. Thinking of you all.

Mo, hope you are feeling a bit better. Were you well enough to gob to Lilly's party yesterday, or did you stay at home and get a slice of cake?

Jean, hope that both you and J will enjoy the afternoon 80th birthday tea party tomorrow. It will make a nice change for you both.

Ann, hope all is well with you and T. Are you busy making some cards now? I shall be happy to start making them again.

Marie, hope everything is alright with you and your family.

Huia, hope you are feeling a bit better now and are able to get on with a few things that you want to do.

Speak to you all soon.

piece of cake down the cyber hatch Mo It is a fruit cake and looks and smells good, just hope it tastes good too. Cheeky daughter says she thinks she is in a parallel universe, one where her mother makes cakes.

Ooops sorry I missed you Ann, we must have been posting at the same time.
Okey dokey, what cake have we got in the oven then, come on, share with aunty Mo.
Things made back in the 60's 70's, were made to last Ann, and will outlast lots of modern day appliances.
Like you, I can't remember the last time I made an actual cake.
These days it's cheaper to buy one, than buy all the ingrediants. Cor I am getting lazy in me old age.
Don't forget to put my piece of cake in the cyber hatch for later. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Sylvia, my condolences to you and your OH and family on the death of your SiL. She is at peace now. I hope your OH gets to the memorial ok. And I also hope your daughter gets better soon.

Sallie, just keep resting that leg

Mo sorry you are poorly, hope you feel better soon.

I have a cake in the oven (No it really is a cake!)

Why am I telling you this? Well I do like to report unusual occurences. I can't remember (we are talking years here) the last time I made a cake. Realised we had eggs going out of date, can't eat them all so I was forced to make a cake. Actually it was a miracle that I had all the other ingredients so hopefully it will be a fruit cake. Now, want a laugh? The cake tin is one of my original (must be 50 years old) and I used my Chefette which my OH bought for me Christmas 1967. And the recipe book I used was not one of my modern ones, it was a little free one from McDougalls dating back to about 1960.

Rest in Peace Daf.
Sylvia, I am sorry to hear of your loss, but bless her she is not suffering now. My heartfelt wishes to yourself and hubby.
It will be nice for you to see your daughter and grandchild again, even though it will be tinged with sadness following the memorial service.
I do hope your daughter is not seriously unwell my love, but then she must be if she has been admitted to hospital, sorry for being so dim Sylvia.

Sallie, get Alun to bring some of your craft things down for you, for when you get bored with your knitting.
I hope you are resting that leg of yours, and not chasing Alun round the house like a mad thing. lol
I might treat myself to a cake on the day of Lilly's birthday party, a slice of cakes not enough for little piggy me. :-D :-D :-D
I will pass on your wishes to Florence, and thank you my love for remembering.

Huia, I am sorry we missed your birthday love how remiss of us.
And how sad that Phil is going down hill drastically, it's no wonder that you are feeling a bit down at the moment sweetheart, bless him Phil has lasted a lot longer than even you expected hasn't he.
That shop of yours must love it when you are working, they see Dollar signs when you walk in the door. lol ;-)
I hope the sparky can get your stove working for you Huia. They cost so much to buy now don't they. Even if you got a reconditioned one, you can't guarantee how long that would last either can you. I know there are places here, where they will give a one year guarantee on recon goods, but it would be just my luck that it would break down, one year and a day after I bought it.

Well girls, I will say bye for now, take care one and all. Mo

Sylvia, have replied to you on Shaun's thread, but thought I would just say again how sorry I am to hear that your Sister-in-law passed away last night. My thoughts and sympathy to you all.
Also, sorry to hear that your daughter is in hospital, I hope they are able to find out what the problem is as soon as possible. Sending her lots of Get Well Wishes.

Huia, lovely to hear from you. I can imagine how difficult it must be for you to see Phil as he is, as you say he is not living life as he should be. I feel so much for you.

Alun's brother-in-law isn't very good at all either. I Don't know how Lynda can keep going seeing him as he is......he is 68 and it's ten years since he was diagnosed, but it seems a lot longer to us all.

Hello to everyone else, and hope that you are feeling a bit better today Mo.

Speak to you all later.

Huia

Huia Report 15 Jan 2014 06:26

I have not been posting very often. I have felt rather lethargic. Besides which, I became a year older last Saturday. Phil had his birthday the previous Saturday. He is 84 now. I hope he will not last too much longer. I think that is why I feel so lethargic, a touch of depression that he just seems to be going on and on. He doesn't have a real life now. He has to be fed, and I think he forgets to swallow as he is so slow, so when I am there I rub his throat and ask him to swallow.

Sallie, our shop is going very well, thanks to me. I usually buy several things. Last Monday I bought 3 tops and a necklace and a couple of other things. Maybe I should stop working there, I don't have enough room for all these clothes.

Today I was looking at stoves and looking at other options. Over a year ago my 2 small hotplates were playing up, when I tried to turn the heat down nothing happened, so I cant use them, but I brought a double hob up from the caravan and have been using it until I get round to phoning the electrician. Now the oven itself is not working. I am hoping it is just a blown fuse from the thunder storms we had a couple of months ago. Having investigated options and prices today I now must find a sparky to come and look at it to see if it is fixable for a reasonable price, otherwise I might get a small oven (about the size of a microwave) as I rarely use mine these days. But then, I need the power points on the big one. Anyway, I will see what the sparky says.
