Mo in Kent Report 26 Feb 2014 15:36

Oh Ann, I do hope you start feeling better very soon, theres noting worse than when you have things planned, and health issues get in the way.
I hope T managed to get the bird tables sorted. We have lots of birds at the moment, dropping in for a bath, getting their winter plumage sorted I assume.

I am well impressed with our weather at the moment...(fingers crossed that I am not going to put a hex on it)
I have had two lines full of washing out today, and got them dry.
It's funny how little it takes to please me, lol
I am now sitting with my feet up, resting my leg that still aches. ( oh poor me )

Bye for now girls, take care, Mo

Hope you haven't had to dig yourselves out Sylvia. Is this snow later than usual for you?

Jean what a pain having the electric go wrong at a weekend. Hope all is working well now.

Mo Lily is probably just punishing her Mum for leaving her. glad you liked the flowers. real April weather here today with sun and showers. T is trying to dodge the showers to mend the bird tables which are rotting in the garden.

I am not going far and doing as little as possible as I feel grotty with a sore throat. I am hoping it will be gone by Thursday as we are supposed to be going to the craft fair at Malvern.

Hello everyone,
Yes Sylvia, we do have chains here, when selling and buying property. All it takes is for on person to for one reason or anothet pull out, and it upsets the apple cart something awful.
We were so lucky when we bought our house, that no one dropped out. The hold up was with our solicitor, who said that because we have got a joined alley between ourselves and next door, it could cause problems, should the nighbours decide to move, and take property else where, stupid woman thought our neighbours would do something like this, and our house would collapse. You should have heard what Roly said to her, but we still had to sign papers to say we accepted the property as it stood, ( or fell lol)
Som pleased that your prospective buyers were able to get through to the cabin, and fingers crossed they get a mortgage approved.
I hope you don't get snowed in my love, take care.

Huia, if there was nowhere else for Roly to sleep after an argument, I would make sure he got into the kennel love. lol I don't think he would complain if it was snowing or chucking it down with rain, at least he would have shelter of some sort. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ann, I saw the flowers on F.B, they are lovely. It's surprising how many flowers have been fooled by the weather.
My bluebells are getting taller, and I noticed that I have gotsome young pansies coming up, and goodness knows where they came from, as I pulled all the old ones out after they finished blooming at the start of winter. And one of my fuschia bushes has a few blooms coming as well.

Sallie, it doesn't surprise me about people not having the correct entrance money the other day.
I used to do quite a few boot fairs with my daughter, and sometimes someone would want to but a thing that cost a £1.00 and give us a £20.00 note.
After a few times of doing them, we made sure we took £5.00 and £10.00 notes plus smaller change with us. We learn't the hard way, but we made sure we had the notes hidden about our persons......if they had the courage to frisk us, good luck to them. :-D :-D :-D

Oh Jean, sorry to hear about your mishap with the lecky. These things always happen of a weekend when it's hard to get someone out to put things right.
Did you get your hair cut, or was it just a wash and blow dry? It's my turn for a cut next week, thank goodness, I hate it when it gets in my eyes.

I had to go to the doctor today, I have had a pain in my leg since last Thursday, and started to worry about it.
The doctor tell me it's my quadro something or another muscle, and not, as I was worried about a DVT.
I have got cream to rub in, and take paracetamol, for the pain.
I didn't think at the time, but as Roly told the doctor unashamedly, I had dug out the plants from the raised flower beds, with a big spade last week, and I must have pulled the muscle, and didn't realise it.....stupid me.
My leg felt like I had run a marathon, and that was a definate no no, armchair running is my limit these days.
We are both getting lazy in our old age, a walk up to town is our limit, so a walk along Blackpool prom now Jean would definately be out of the equasion.

We had a brilliant day with our Lilly yesterday. She was as good as gold, but as soon as she saw her mother, she started getting a strop on, so we left pretty darned quickly.
How can a child change so fast I just don't know. We have got her on Saturday again, so fingers crossed that she comes to us in a good mood again.

Bye for now lovelies, take care, hugs Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone

It's still snowing here ............. and the weather forecasters have just "amended" the forecast for today.

They originally said that "light snow will end about noon and be replaced by rain"

the new forecast ............

....... "heavy snow all day, stopping about nightfall, temperature staying at 0C, and accumulations of 10-30cm in the Metro area"

we've had about 2½ cm in the last 2 hours, for an accumulation so far of about 9 cm :-O

Apparently, the cold wind blowing out from the north east has not changed direction

Don't you like it when meteorologists have to apologise for their wrong forecasts?
:-D

take care everyone

Dare I say it Sallie, model railway exhibitions always seem to bring out the weirdos!! Son used to belong to a club many years ago.

Mo Congratulations to your daughter and her fiance on the coming marriage, so good to know she has found somebody who is good to her. I hope they will be really happy together.
Have you survived your day with Lily?

Sylvia fingers crossed it all goes through smoothly. Yes we can still get chains here.

I walked round the garden in the sun this morning and was surprised how many flowers were out. I took a few photos and, if you don't go on facebook, they are on the photo blog.

Feeling a bit under the weather today, a bit achey and with a sore throat. I am hoping I am not hatching a cold. I also have the dentist tomorrow for the second half of my deep clean. :-(

Sallie Report 24 Feb 2014 16:59

Hello ladies,

Hope that you are all alright today after the weekend.

Mo, I should imagine that both you and Roly are feeling shattered by now, with having Lilly for the day today. As much as we love the little ones, it is a very tiring job looking after them. As I say, we can't do things nowadays that we did ten to twenty years ago, which is a pity, but there you are it's all a part of getting older, unfortunately.lol!!

Pleased to hear that your daughter is getting married again, and this time to someone that is good to both her and the girls. It will give both you and Roly peace of mind, Mo.........no matter how old our children are, we still worry about them.
Not too long before the wedding either, let's hope that they will have a lovely bright and sunny day for it.

Well we managed to take a lot of pennies yesterday Mo, the only problem was that we kept running out of change which had never happened in other years. Although a lot of people only had twenty pound notes. or so they said. and only wanted one ticket, which was only £3. I don't think the club will ask us to do it another year, we were too much trouble.lolol!!

Sylvia, you are right about ii being a hard day's on the desk . Mind we had a few ' odd bods ' to deal with too, One of them wanted to know if it was free for him to go in as he was a senior citizen and that he paid his council tax, so he shouldn't have to pay. When we told him no, he then wanted to know if he could have free food and cups of tea in the café the club had there.
I think it took about twenty minutes before he actually went into the hall where the layouts were, he actually stayed for most of the show. Think he stayed to keep warm, as that was the only free thing on offer.lolol!!

I haven't been able to do too much today, as I've felt really tired and my leg has been playing up, with it being quite painful at times......although it is heaps better I still have a few problems with it.

Ann, glad to hear that you and T had a lovely day out on Saturday. I love the Cotswolds, use to go there when I was growing up, I especially loved Bourton-on-the-Water, although it is many years since we have been there.

Once we have had our dinner, I am hoping to finish another card off, I will the get Alun to send the to you.

Huia, shame the kennel not being big enough, as I think it was a good idea of
Mo's.lol!!!
Just wondering if you have taken it in to the hospice shop yet? Hope that you will be able to sell it quite soon.

Jean, where are you? I hope that you are alright. I expect you are busy making cards. I must really start to get a move on, as I have lots of birthday cards to make for March and also must start on the few Easter cards that I send.

Hope all the family are alright too.

Well I must go and start to make our dinner now, so will speak to you all soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

It would need to be a small man who would get into the dog kennel. It is only a medium size one. I doubt if even my brother in law would fit in and he is short.

Off to get ready for town now. Be good and if you cant be good be clever.

Hi Mo, and everyone

Mo .............. that's great news about your daughter. You must be very happy that she has found a "good 'un" this time :-)

Huia ......... I'm sure that dog kennel will sell very quickly. I like Mo's suggestion for its use :-)

Sallie ............... I hope you have recovered from your hard day's work on the desk. And, I'm not joking about it being "hard work"! Benn there, done that!

Jean .............. hope all is going well with you.

it snowed all night, very lightly, it is still snowing now (almost 11:30 am) ......... but it is now sticking and accumulating. We must have close to 5 cm on the sun deck.

It's not showing much sign of stopping :-(

I heard from our realtor yesterday evening ............... the prospective buyers got in to the property yesterday, on their snow shoes ............... and more importantly, got out again :-)

Their agent says they are still interested, and are now going to apply get a mortgage.

Depending on their financial state, that may or may not be a sticking point.

Luckily, we don't get those "chains" that you used to get in the UK .......... do you still get them??????

well, the Olympics are over ....................... and Canada won the gold in the Men's ice hockey early this morning :-D

I did NOT get up to watch it ................ it was on out TV from about 4 am to 6 am :-)

take care everyone

Ann, the photo's you took at the arboretum are really lovely, I had a look at them on F.B..

Huia, the dog kennel is bound to sell quickly...even if a disgruntled woman buys it for her husband, and when he is in the dog house, he can sleep in it. lol

Sallie, I hope you took lots of pennies at the railway clubs annual show. I should imagine lots of dads took their young sons along to view the exhibits.

Guess what girls, you remember my telling you of my daughter whose husband left her for another woman a few years ago...well, surprise surprise, she is getting married again in June, to a fantastic man, who treats her and her children like queens.
We are soooo pleased for them both, but totally relieved that the expence doesn't come down to us this time round. lol

Not only did we have Lilly yesterday for the day, but we have got her again tomorrow and on Saturday morning...whew, we will exhausted come the end of the week.
As much as we love her to bits, she can be very hard work some days, god willing she is a good girl tomorrow for us.

Sending good wishes across the water to Sylvia, Marie and our Huia.
Wouldn't it be nice to hear from Joyce (Dutch ) some time soon. I do catch up with her on face book sometimes.

Well I will say cheerio for now my lovelies, take care, Hugs Mo xxx

Huia, I am sure that will sell and is a bit more out of your way.

Mo, pleased that you were able to play darts, and do well too, hope the vertigo is staying away now.

Sallie I look forward to the caard photos. Hope the model railway show went OK. And the meal afterwards

Jean, I haven't had faggots for ages but I do like them. I did put your last lot of photos on the blog, except for one that was a bit out of focus.

Had a lovely day out to Batsford arboretum yesterday and the photos are on the photo blog and on my facebook page.

The other day I scrubbed and washed the outside of our old dog kennel (it had lichen and dirty spots on it). This morning I gave it a new coat of paint. I will take it to the hospice shop tomorrow in the hopes that it will sell. Phil made it some years ago from aluminium lined with corflute. It was for a medium size dog and I feel sure we will get somebody wanting to buy it.

Sallie Report 22 Feb 2014 23:52

Hi Girls,

Mo, so pleased that you are feeling better and that you were able to play in the darts match on Thursday evening.

We have a had a few bright days lately so have been able to dry the washing out on the line, as you said it smells so fresh when it is dried outside.

Tomorrow, we will be at the model railway clubs annual show. Both Jennie and I have been roped in to take the money at the door, so we have to be there by 8.30am until it closes at 5.00pm. I decided earlier in the week that the four of us would go and have a meal after it finishes, won't feel like cooking when we get home.lol!!

Jean, I use to love faggots years ago, but we had them from the family butchers that both my mother and nan always bought their meat from......he made them himself but only on a Thursday, they were delicious....only problem was that there was always a big queue from 12.00 lunch time as that was when they came fresh out of the oven.
When we were on school holidays me and my friends were always sent to get them, we always complained that our mums never sent our brothers to get them, and that it wasn't fair.lol!!
Anyway, faggots do not taste the same these days as they use to.

Well Jean and Ann, I have made two cards at last, I think my brain had got rusty as it took me a while to get into doing them. I shall get Alun to take photos of them and then send them onto you Ann. Hope I can remember how to send them.lol!!

Sylvia, pleased that you have sold your cabin. Let's hope that the sale will go through without any hitches.

Also pleased to know that your daughter is much better and that her and her OH are managing to work out their problems.

Huia and Marie hope that you are both alright. It's a while since you were on here Marie.

Well I must have a hot drink and then it will be time for bed.

Speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 21 Feb 2014 19:13

Oi Jean, you saucy monkey,I may be the proverbial bad penny, but you wont get any change from it these days. lol ;-) ;-) ;-) Love ya honey.
To tell the truth Jean, I haven't played darts for a couple of weeks now, I have been going along to support the team, and last night I actually played in the threes, and played the best out of the three of us, and thats saying something considering I am out of practise. If I had played whilst I had the vertigo, I would have needed to throw a spear to hit the board, as it would have been bouncing around the room.

Goodness me Sylvia, it has taken ages for the cabin to sell, and now the buyers have left it late in the year to view it. But as long as they buy it, for the asking price, it has to be a bonus for you my love, no haggling or anything like that.
Lets just hope that the person who is going to walk the property doesn't get lost in the snow, and can manage to find it in the first place.

Huia, I am not sure what causes this dizziness that both Jean and myself suffer from occasionally, and I do know that both she and I are dizzy lizzies at the best of times, without having to go through this blessed vertigo every time the balance goes.
I hope you are o.k now my love.

Hi Sallie, what have you been up to today ?
Surprise surprise, I managed to get the wasing out on the line, and it actually dried as well. Holy moly how wonderful it smelt when I bought it in from the line, so lovely and fresh, rather than getting it dried on the clothes horse.

Oooh I have just read back about your faggots Jean, we haven't had them in donkeys years either, and after your experience, I don't think we will bother.

Have a great weekend everyone. Hugs to you all, Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone

Mo ........ glad to see you back xxx

Jean ........... I haven't had faggots in more than 50 years! I think I liked them! :-)

Huia ............... you would have enjoyed seeing your gt grandsons. Hoep your granddaughter recovers well.

The sun is shining here :-)

We've just had an offer on the cabin and land ......................... it is at the asking price, so we have to accept it.

However, we've had to ask them to delay our acceptance of this initial offer ................. they wanted it by 5 pm today (or about 3 hours from now), but OH is away overnight, then has appointments tomorrow.

So our realtor is telling them we won't be able to respond until 5 pm on Saturday.

They want closure by March 26 .......... subject to them getting a mortgage.

They haven't even seen the darn place other than in photos ........... it's covered by 3+ feet of snow, and no-one will be able to get in easily until early April :-)

Apparently some other guy is going in either tomorrow or Saturday to "walk" the property on snowshoes ...... don't know whether he will get over all the 20 acres :-)

take care everyone
