Sallie Report 27 Apr 2014 19:16

Hello girls, just popping in to see if you are all okay today. I haven't got any news, it's very quiet here. Weather is fairly bright with some sunshine, but there is a cold wind with it.

Mo, hope you are feeling less tired today, little ones seem to think we can run
about like they do, thinking that ' Nana is a great playmate '. lol!!

Also hope that your son is feeling better today. Do the nurses have to call every day?

Ann, your granddaughter is like all the youngsters these days, they like to wear something new straight away.lol!!

Jean, if you are looking in, I hope that you are feeling a bit better, take care of yourself.

Huia, Sylvia and Marie, hope that you are all alright too.

Will chat to you all tomorrow.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 26 Apr 2014 21:25

Oh goodness me, poor Jean has been through the mill just lately. I do hope she starts to feel better very very soon, and that she gets to see either the dentist or doctor soon.

Ann, we were out with Lilly and her mum the other day, and I decided we would have lunch out.
Nearly £20.00 later, supplied with a coffee, tea, small bottle of coke, carton of ribena, two rounds of sandwiches, and three cakes ooh and a bag of crisps.
Enjoy yourselves in Milton Keynes with the family Ann.

Yes Sallie, we had Lilly today, and we are fair worn out. If I ran up and down the garden once, I did it a thousand times, and yet she still wanted to carry on, where do the little ones get their energy from.
She didn't want to go home, when it was time for her to.
When the district nurse came to change our sons dressing, he told her that the plaster was loose, and decided to pull it of himself, and in doing so, he pulled out all the wadding from inside the wound as well. DIL nearly fainted on the spot, when she saw his wound, remembering that she is 8 months pregnant, not a pretty sight to behold in her condition. The new baby is due on the 26th of May, and son was worried she would go into labour with shock. LOL

Night Night god bless everyone, take care, Mo xxx

AnninGlos Report 26 Apr 2014 20:33

Yes, she wore it out this evening when we took them for a meal, couldn't afford that too often either. Still they are both good kids, mini adults really and good company.

Sallie Report 26 Apr 2014 17:30

Ann, I too thought that it might be an abscess, not nice things to have, I've had a few over the years, so hope Jean hasn't got one.

I expect your granddaughter really loved it this morning, it doesn't hurt to get spoilt now and again...bet she is thrilled with her new top.

Love, Sallie.xxx.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Apr 2014 17:07

I hope that tooth is not an abscess, that can happen when you are run down. I hope she feels better soon.

Yes we are enjoying the company of our grandchildren, granddaughter came to M&S with us this morning, that cost us coffee, cakes etc and an £18 top.still we don't treat her very often.grandson is watching rugby with OH. :-D

Sallie Report 26 Apr 2014 16:55

Hi Ann, hope that you and T are enjoying the weekend with your grandchildren, and that the weather is good for you.

Heard from Jean this morning, she is still not feeling very good, she is now having problems with one of her front teeth, it hurts a lot when she is trying to eat, so she hopes that she can see the dentist very soon. She has still got the cold sores around her mouth and also still feeing very tired. Not sure if she has seen the doctor, but I know that she has been told that she is very run down.

I hope that she will start feeling better soon. She hopes that she will feel well enough to post in the next few days.

Huia, as Ann said, it sounds as though the tubes on your hearing aids are too long.

So far we are lucky as the Audiologist changes the tubing at every appointment.

Although, they have now changed the appointment system, instead of ringing up and making an appointment, we now have to go to the walk-in clinic where they will
change the tubing or whatever needs to be done. If the tubing and aids are alright, they will then make an appointment with the Audiologist for me. So I am going to the walk-in clinic on Tuesday anytime between 9 and 1pm, so will see what it is like.

Mo, how are you and Roly today? Hope that you are both alright. Did you say that you were having Lilly today? I can't remember if you did or not....old age is creeping in. LOL

How is your son today? I hope that he is starting to feel a bit better now.

Hope everyone else is okay.

Going to give Alun a hand in the garden now, so will see you later.

Love, Sallie.xxx

AnninGlos Report 26 Apr 2014 16:28

Sorry just realised that Sallie is right, I haven't written on here for a few days, I have been reading though, must have thought I'd replied.we are in M Keynes with the grandchildren.

Hope Jean replies to you soon Sallie.

Huia, it sounds as though you have the tubes for your aids too long. Sallie the aids will stop working if the tubes get brittle, or blocked with wax, or your ear may need syringing.

Huia

Huia Report 25 Apr 2014 20:51

Sallie, are your hearing aids the ones that sit behind the ear with a tube going down to the bit that goes in the ear? I have that sort, and keep getting a kink in the tube from trying to push it into the ear. Then, of course, it doesn't work. I have just bought another 4 tubes for $12 which would be about 6 English pounds, give or take. One tube has just lasted one day before it got a kink in it. The silly aids keep trying to slip out of my ears. I am fed up with them. Good luck with getting yours sorted.

Sallie

Sallie Report 25 Apr 2014 20:42

Mo, I can't get over that they released your son without sorting and giving him his medication first. Anyway, I hope that the antibiotics have started to work and that he is at least feeling a bit better than he did.

I know the last time Jennie was in hospital, once she was well enough to be released, they moved her and her things to wait in a discharge lounge near the ward she was on. They desperately needed the bed as they had had to admit so many people with a virus that had caused them a lot of problems. Of course that was why Jennie was in there, as it had given problems with her Crohn's.
They were short of beds and some patients were on trollies in the corridors outside the wards.

She told us that she wasn't the only patient that had had to wait in the lounge, as they wouldn't discharge or release anyone until they sorted out and given them their medication. I don't think any of them were too bothered, they had a good natter and a laugh, they thought it was funny being ' chucked out of there ' as they put it.
We can't complain about the hospital at all, they have looked after Jennie well and
also looked after me well when I was having both R and J. I had problems with high blood pressure each time during the last six weeks before they were born.

I sent Jean a pm yesterday afternoon, but she hasn't opened it, so I hope to goodness that she is alright.

Jean, if you are looking in, I hope that you are starting to feel better.....miss seeing you on here and miss our ' little chats ', so hope that you will soon feel a lot better.

Not sure if Ann is away for the weekend, it seems a while since she's been on here.
Hope that both her and T are alright.

Been speaking to Huia on the Friendlies thread, looks as though she is getting out and about quite a bit, I don't blame her, it's good that she is enjoying herself.

Marie, hope that all is going well for you and your family. Did you manage to get sorted out with your glasses, after all.?

Sylvia, hope that your leg isn't as painful has it has been and that the massage you are having is helping you.

I have to go to sort my hearing aids out on Tuesday, anytime between 9-1. They have changed things a bit, now I have to go to the walk-in clinic where they check to see whatever the problem is and if they can sort it, there and then, if not they will make an appointment with the audiologist for me. I just hope it won't be too long before I get one, as my left hearing aid isn't working at all and my right hearing aid seems to be making the top just inside my ear very sore, so can't keep it in too long.

We haven't heard how Jan is over the last two days, so hoping that all is going along alright for him. Liz did say that Sheila will let her know if there is any news and then she would post a message.

Thinking of Jan and Joyce, and hope that he is improving each day. <3

Yes Mo, I think Alun is looking for something extra to do now that he is fully retired, so I think he thought a bit of family research wouldn't come amiss.lol!!

Must go and have a cuppa now, so will chat to you all soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 25 Apr 2014 16:47

Sallie, our son was released from hospital yesterday afternoon. I was very annoyed, he had not had any anti-biotics since the day before.
When he was allowed out, Roly went to pick him up, but they had not sorted out his medication, and they had to go back for it.
He waited till 5.30 that evening,to be able to go back and he had his first biotic then.
Disgusting, considering his wound was full of poison when they operated on him the day before. But then thats the Medway hospital for you, no wonder their performance is under review.

I do hope our Jean is getting better. It's been while now since we have heard from her.

I have to go now girls, take care, speak to you soon. Hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 23 Apr 2014 23:20

Hi Mo, I hope you son will soon start to feel better once the antibiotics start working.

I'm sure that Lilly is missing her daddy, bless her, as I'm sure that like Jennie was and still is, a daddy's girl.lol!! Do you know how long he will have to stay in hospital?

Yes it was lovely here this morning too, but this afternoon it clouded over and we have had rain on and off since then.

Mo, I will check on the times of the trains and let you know......hope Jean will be happy to see us. LOL. Although I'm sure she will.

I hope that she is starting to feel better, I will send her a pm to find out things are going for her.

Yes, it's a shame that Jan is so poorly, I hope that there is an improvement in his condition today, so that it will put his and Joyce's mind at rest. He really is a very nice person, friendly and happy and we feel comfortable when in his company.

Sylvia, at least you now know that you haven't got more osteo - arthritis, although I'm sure it must be just as painful.

Let's hope that with your OH massaging it for you and the physio that you have each week, it will soon feel a lot more comfortable for you.

that counselling for your daughter and son in law will be a success.

Where is everyone else? Have they all gone into hiding? LOL Any way hope that you are all alright.

Well I'll love and leave you all now. Chat to you all soon.

Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes.

From, Sallie. xxx

Special thoughts for everyone that is poorly. <3 <3 <3

Mo in Kent Report 23 Apr 2014 21:55

Hello there everyone,
My laptop threw a wobbly on me, and I had to sort it out myself. We were going to take it up to P.C World, but clever clogs here sorted it out herself. Don't ask me how I did it, coz I haven't got a clue. I did do a defrag, and then had to update windows, it told me I had bug in the system.

Our son is in hospital...he started with a small spot under his arm, and in two days had grown to the size of a golf ball.
They took him down to theater this morning, and drained and packed what they are saying was an abscus (sp).
He is in a lot of pain, and on morphine and anti-biotics to help the situation.
Little Lilly is completely lost without him, and kept asking for him, so we took her up to the hosptal this afternoon to see him. Bless her, she was so good, and kept telling us not to make to much noise because people were poorly.

Sylvia, I do hope your O.H takes it easy on your injuries, you don't need any more bruises, after what the physio did to you my love.
People will think O.H is beating you LOL

Sallie, what time train are we going to catch to get to Jean and J's house. Don't tell her we are coming, it will be a surprise for her, she may not open the door if she knows it's us knocking. LOL

Do you know what girls, the weather went up to 20 degrees here today, but it's now tiddling it down with rain. How unbelievable can our weather be.
I must say night night now, as I am crean crackered. Hugs to you all. Mo xxx

Just remembered, I must say hello to, Ann,Huia, Marie, Dutch +Jan (who is poorly)
And last but not least our leader Jean <3 <3 <3

Hi Mo, and everyone

It turned out to be a lovely day today ............ not the forecast rain, but sunny and quite warm :-)

I was at the physio today and discovered that I have another problem with my knee .................. a sports injury :-)

The physio thinks I should get a T-shirt with "I have a sports injury" on the front of it
:-D :-D

I have a hamstring problem :-D

It all makes sense after he'd explained it ................. think of the old spiritual song,

Ankle bone connected to the shin bone
Shin bone connected to the knee bone
Knee bone connected to the thigh bone
Thigh bone connected to the hip bone
Hip bone connected to the back bone
Back bone connected to the shoulder bone

---------
In my case, the hamstring that runs down the outside back of the thigh connects near the top of the fibular.

I have had a displaced fibular for weeks ................ and this has now affected the hamstring

He massaged and pummeled away at it today .............. and said it would help if OH could do something similar starting on Thursday. He said I would probably be bruised, so OH would know where to "massage hard" :-D

At least, it isn't more osteo-arthritis

The problems with daughter are still on-going ................ they're having counselling, which hopefully will work

take care everyone

Sallie Report 21 Apr 2014 19:18

Mo, that's okay, I was getting worried not having seen Jean on here for a few days, especially knowing that she still hadn't recovered fully from the virus she had while she was away.

Glad that you and Roly enjoyed your day out to the coast today. it's ages since we have been to the coast anywhere. .

When we were living in South Wales it wasn't to far to go to the coast, especially when we lived at Neath, we could see most of Swansea Bay from our dining room window, the view was wonderful. Living in the East Midlands we now have to go a good many miles to get to the coast. Never, mind we have lovely places to go all over Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, so we are happy with that.

Richard and Christie were on holiday from work last week, one day they went to Brighton and another day they went to Bournemouth, they really enjoyed themselves on the two days. Not sure how long it took them, but they only live about half a mile away from the M4 and not very far from the M25,

Mo, if you are up to it we'll both get a train up to Lancashire and wait on Jean and J hand and foot, they will have a holiday of a lifetime in their tent with us looking after them.lolol!!

Joyce posted a thread this afternoon, saying that Jan is ill and that his brothers had to take him into hospital. He'd been kept in as he is quite poorly and by what Joyce said he has problems with his kidneys.
I hope and pray that it isn't too serious and that he will soon get well.

Ann, hope that you and T are both alright. Is your daughter and son in law still with you? I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend together.

Alun and I have spent a good bit of time over the weekend doing some family history research. Found one or two things that might help, but it is like looking for a needle in a haystack, lol!!

Sylvia, I hope that your leg is improving so that it will be right for your holiday in Montreal.

Also hope that the counselling is working for your daughter and son in law and that they are now able to start working out their problems.
Hope your little grandson is alright too.

Huia and Maria, hope all is well with you and your families.

Well must go now, so will chat to you all again soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.

Love and hugs to both Jean and Jan. <3 <3 <3 <3

Thank you Sallie for updating us about Jean. Bless her and J, every time they go away on holiday, they manage to have caught something by the time they get home.
Jean, DON'T go away again my love. Put a tent up in the back garden, and get your neighbours to supply you with cups of tea, then phone up the local take aways for your dinners.
Failing that, Sallie and myself will get on trains and come up and wait on you hand and foot. Ooops hope I haven't put my foot in it Sallie LOL

Well my friends, we decided to go down to the coast this morning.
It was glorious, the temperature was up to 17 degrees, the sun was shining loevly.
We had a walk along the front, went up into the town, then back onto the front, and by this time, the tide had come in, cor luv a duck, the wind got up, and fairly blew us back to the car, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
It was so nice to sit and watch the families on the beach, and the children making sand castles.
It doesn't take much to please me these days. We had a lovely lunch out, and I have just finished cooking the chips to have with yesterdays cold meat, yummy.

Well my friends, take care, speak to you soon. Hugs Mo xxx

Mo, families they are the worry of our lives sometimes, but we wouldn't be without them. I agree with Ann about your daughter being the loser as she has cut off you and a couple of her siblings......don't think that she can be very happy.

As you say Mo, it sounds as though she could be going through her menopause, so that explains why she taking everything that is said to her as personal and being angry with everyone.
As you say Mo, all you can do is wait patiently, not a very easy task though.

Ann, thank you for your lovely Easter card......can't remember if I thanked you or not, sorry if I hadn't.

I was a bit worried about Jean, as she hadn't been on for a few days, so I sent her a pm last night.....she replied this morning. She is suffering from tiredness and isn't feeling very well at all. I wouldn't be surprised that she is still suffering from the virus she picked up when she was in Llandudno. As you all know these viruses can stay in your system for quite a few weeks and can sometimes cause a couple of problems for some people.

Jean if you are looking in, hope that you will soon start to fell better. Look after yourself and take care. <3 <3

Hope everyone enjoyed the Easter weekend.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

I agree with you Ann, but daughter can be a very stubborn woman. She has changed so much over the years, going from a timid mouse, to a tiger who would bite your head off, for no apparant reason.
I seriously wonder if she is going through the menopause, as I was a real nightmare when I went through mine.
All I can do is sit and wait patiently.

I am not sure what is happening with our weather, it's been pouring it down all day, for goodness sake we have had enough of the wet stuff recently.
Still it is April isn't it, April showers and all that.

I hope you have all had a lovely Easter Sunday. Bye for now, Mo xxx

Hi Sallie,
Yes our daughter was sent an invitation to the wedding, but she has not responded to it at all.
The daughter who is getting married, didn't expect her to go, but felt she must invite her.
Eldest daughter is still not speaking to the one who is getting married either,oh and also one brother of hers.

Lol, the old biddies made me chuckle, but you are not amongst them my love, you are still a spring chick.
Hugs my love, Mo xxx

Sallie Report 19 Apr 2014 17:38

Mo, glad that you received my card.....there was I thinking that they were all still sitting on the counter at the back of the post office. Still it has taken long enough to get there, considering that it was posted first class on Tuesday morning. I think those ladies at the post office really need to retire, they have worked there for years, we have lived here for 35years and they were there then except for one, the others are now a load of old biddies.lol!!

Well I know I'm an old biddy myself, but at least I'm not as miserable looking as they are.lol!!

Hope the some of the problems with family and friends are getting better for you.

It's a shame that your daughter still won't speak to you Mo. Let's hope that she will come to her senses soon and see how much she has hurt you. Is she invited to your other daughter's wedding? If she is, maybe she will talk or at least acknowledge you there.

Hope you and Roly will enjoy a peaceful weekend.

Happy Easter to you and your family.
