AnninGlos Report 21 May 2014 21:37

Our day today. Drove to Abbotsbury down the very scenic coast road, the sun was shining and the views were glorious, looking right down along Chesil Beach. We arrived at the swannery at about 10am and started the day with a coffee before making our way down to see the swans. There were still a lot sitting on unhatched eggs which was a surprise but also a lot of babies, one pair had eight babies and one had only one, she looked a very small young swan so that was probably why. Luckily there were no patients in the casualty pen but there were a pair and quite a few babies in the 'foster' pen. There were also moorhens with babies, these they had to keep away from the swans who will attack them if they go near the cygnets.
A lot of the nests were on the paths and we had to be careful walking past these as the cob could get aggressive if he thought we were too close. It was a lovely day to be there with the sun shining on the Fleet and the white of the birds sparkling in the sunlight.
Sadly the February storms had caused a lot of damage which is slowly being rebuilt. The sea apparently flooded right over the Fleet and into the swannery and across the fields twice, a week apart. We walked back to the car, deciding not to wait to watch the feeding having seen it twice before. Stopped to look at the model of the bouncing bomb.
Had coffee and crisps in the car then walked down the lane to the children's farm in St Peter's Abbey grounds. Looked at the huge barn now a big play centre then walked around taking photos of the animals. Walked back to the car and drove to West Bay (Broadchurch on TV) for fish and chips by the quay. They were delicious as usual. We walked out along the pier to take photos and sit in the sun.
The day ended with a beautiful sunset. :-)

Hi Mo, and everyone

gosh, I have been so bad at popping in on here :-(

Mo .................. I hope you are enjoying your holiday, and that the weather has been good for you.

Sallie ................. I am so sorry to hear about Jennie's problems. I hope they can sort them out without her having to have another operation.

Ann ............. it sounds as though you are enjoying your holidays, from what I have read on other threads :-)

Marie ................. it's lovely to hear form you, and to hear that you have settled down in your Unit.

Huai ..................... what are you like?! I rad about your mishap. Not nice! xxxxxx

Jean ................. hope that you are feeling better xxxx

Elizabeth ............... it is always lovely to see you :-)

We are chugging along quite well. My leg is still being a nuisance ............... although it only hurts now when I sit down or stand up, and aches a bit when I walk. Hopefully, that will soon stop!

We go away in 3 weeks to Montreal for a meeting. We're taking the train both ways :-) . I want to be walking more comfortably by then!

3 days after we get back, we have to drive north for the spreading of OH's sister's ashes on the ski hill, and the ceremonial drinking of the contents of her liquor cupboard (or as much as we can!).

Our daughter is coming over from the East Coast, with her son, for that weekend ....................... it will be a long trip for her and our grandson. It will take 14 hours for her to get there on the Friday, and 11 hours on overnight flights to get home on the Tuesday.

But she wants closure ............ and also realised that this could well be the only time when she will be able to meet with all her 3 cousins and families at the same time, and the only time that grandson will meet his generation of children altogether. They all live in different towns, and, as you may have gathered, travel is often long!

She and her husband are still going through counselling, and making progress, although M is now on mood changing medication 'cos he obsesses about things.

take care everyone

Sallie. Poor Jennie she must be in pain, yes no doubt you will worry. I suppose it is no good me saying that you worrying won't help at all! I hope they can sort it without the major op. My Mum had a bag fitted when she was 80 she could have had it reversed but refused and it never stopped her doing what she always did including going on holiday. She lived with it for another five years.

Mo I hope you too will avoid the op. :-)

Hi there everyone,
Sallie, the mechanic turned up last night, at about 6.30. Plugged his machine in, and found that the car had got lots of faults, that thank goodness he was able to put right by his machine. So now we have a nice working car.
But we have decided to hire a car for the week, just in case.
I am just so glad that it is sorted out, and that we could cancel the appointment with Fords, as it would have cost us so much more by them doing it. And no doubt they would have...ahem...I imagine found faults that were not there.
Every fault this mechanic found, Roly knew what they were ie the key fob, it needed a new battery, and Fords told us we needed a new key, not the case as we found out, and the rear break light fault, Roly had to change the bulb ages ago, but it also showed up as well.
We don't understand why it took this long for these faults to show up, but they are sorted now, thank the lord.

Poor Jennie, I can imagine the pain she has been in. Thats why they are checking me out at the end of the month, the pain is horrendous at times, bless her heart, give her my love.
They told me quite a few years ago, that I may end up with a bag permanantly, but I am praying it doesn't come to this, like Jennie is no doubt.
My grandaughters boyfriend had the same operation, a couple of years ago, and they put him back to normal last year. He is fine now, and can eat lots of things he was unable to before. Not a nice experience for a lad of 21 as he was then.

Well it's that time of day again.....time for tea....{_}? {_}? {_}? {_}? @ @ @ @
enjoy.
Bye for now my friends, take care.

Sallie

Sallie Report 12 May 2014 21:52

Hi Mo, thank you for your good wishes for Jennie. It hasn't been a good day for her,
the Consultant she is under had had a good look at the CT scan she had on Saturday, and wasn't completely happy with it, She suspects that a part of the colon is narrowing, and if that is the case, Jennie will have to have that part cut out and may have to have a bag which will hopefully be reversible. Just depends on how bad it is and how near it is to, sorry not sure what she said, on whether it might be a permanent thing.

So we are all hoping and praying that it won't come to that. Trouble is, I won't be able to stop worrying now until things are sorted for her.

Oh dear Mo, it doesn't give you much time to get your car sorted for your holiday.
I hope to goodness that they will get it sorted in time, otherwise it will mean more expense for you. But I suppose what matters is that you and Roly have a car that is safe for travelling in.

Weather hasn't been too bad here today, although we did have a few showers earlier on, but we still have the chilly wind.

Thank you Mo. as you know I'm always ready for a cuppa and would love a biscuit to go with it. lol!!

Well I will chat to you again tomorrow, take care of yourself.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Oh Sallie, poor Jennie, I do hope she will be able to come home soon my love.
Piles are painful on there own, let alone her other problems being added to the pot, give her my best wishes, and that I hope she gets well soon.

At the moment, we are waitng for a diagnostic man, to come and take a look at our car.
If he turns up that is, if not, we have arranged with Fords to take it to them on Wednesday, but that does not give us much time, for them to do any repairs that may need doing.

We have had a most gloriuos day today, weather wise, fingers crossed it stays that way.
Our spare bedroom looks like a charity shop, with clothes all ready for packing. For goodness sake, we are only going for one week, but with our weather as changeable as it is, I need to pack for any changes that may occur.
I suppose I could not pack anything, and just buy as I need things.....LOL, I don't think so somehow do you.

Time for our afternoon cuppa now, anyone like one...{_}? {_}? {_}? and a biscuit to go with it @@@@ I know our Sallie will LOL
Speak to you soon, hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 11 May 2014 22:15

Mo, thanks for your get well wishes for Jennie. Friday they found out that she had a water infection as well as the ' flare up ' and the problem with very painful
piles. Then from just after visiting had ended at half past eight her temperature went up and it was almost after two in the morning before it went down.....it then went too low so they had to put more covers on her to get her warm. Jennie said that both the doctor and the nurse were wonderful with her and watched her until her temperature was back to normal.

I hope that your car will be sorted in time for your holiday. Things tend to go wrong with the car when we need it for holidays or long journeys.lol!!

Hope that you are feeling alright Mo, and will feel the same way while you are on holiday.

Hello, to Ann, Jean, Huia, Sylvia and Marie, hope that you are all well.

Will look in again tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes.

Hello everyone,
Firstly, Sallie, I am so sorry to hear that Jennie is in hospital, and I hope and pray the anti-biotics kick in soon, to relieve her pain. Bless her, Crohn's is such a painful disease to have to cope with, it's bad enough having to suffer every day, but when it flares up bady it's agony for her.
We are of up to Great Yarmouth Sallie, thats if our car is sorted. If not we will have to hire one for the week...more expense when we don't really need it.
The engine management light keeps flashing up, and we are afraid of the darned thing conking out on us.
Monday we have got to phone Fords, to see if they can sort it out before we go away, so fingers crossed for us.

Ann,your accomodation sounds fabulous. We are hoping and praying the caravan we are going to, will be as good as the previous one we had. The person who owns it, upgraded last year, and moved to a quieter spot on the site.
Now sit back and enjoy yourselves, and try not to embibe to much of the cider, we don't want you suffering from the falling down problems that can occur after drinking to much of it. lol

Dear Elizabeth, I do hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend, and that you are all keeping well.
Have you anything special planned for the next bank holiday weekend?
Fortunately for us, we will be travelling home, just as people will be making their way to their destinations friday week, and god willing we will miss most of the heavy traffic.

Huia, I loved your Photo's on F.B,what wonderful scenery where you were staying. I bet it was so lovely and peaceful for you.
How's things with your Phil now ? I don't suppose there is much change for the better my love, but I just hope he is faring better in health than he was.

Well my friends, I will say cheerio for now, take care. Love to all, Mo xxx

Hello girls,

Jean, thank goodness that your abscess is a lot better, hope that the soreness will soon go off. Good that everything went well with your eye test and won't need to go for another six months.

Mo, nice to see you on here, hope that you are okay and not suffering any pain.

Where are you and Roly going for your holiday? Wherever you are going I hope that the weather will be good to you and that you have a lovely break.

Huia, it will be nice to see your photos on your avatar, thank you for doing that.
If they are all like the one you have on now, they will be really lovely.

Ann, great to read that you and T have arrived safely and that you are pleased with your accommodation, must say it sounds a lovely place to stay.
Enjoy your holiday and hope that you will have some good weather.

Mo, I haven't heard any more news about Joyce and Jan, if and when I do I will put
it on here. Hope that things are better for them both.

Sylvia, it seems a while since we heard from you, I hope that everything is alright with both you. Take care.

Marie, I hope that all is well with you and your family, it's a good while since we heard from you too. Take care.

Michael had to take Jennie into hospital last night, problems with her Crohn's again and also very painful piles. She is on a drip, of antibiotics, steroids and painkillers and will be in at least for the weekend.

Well, must go and get ready to go and visit her, so will speak to you all later.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello my lovelies,
I am still at home at the moment, we go today week,...hoooray it seems ages since we had our last break away.

Ann, the heat wave is going to arrive mid to end of this month, so hopefully, we will both get some of it whilst we are away.
Have a lovely time both of you.

Jean my darling, I am sorry to hear that you are still having a few problems. Wouldn't it be wonderful, just to have a few weeks feeling normal, being able to enjoy the weather, and good health for a change.
Perhaps if and when the sun does come out, we will feel more like our old selves sweetheart.

Huia, I must get to check out your face book photo's. I bet they are as good as you normally take love.

Hi there Sallie, are you and Alun having a holiday this year? I hope you are both keeping well.

We have got a gloriuosly sunny day today, but it is spoilt by the very heavy winds.
I tried to sit outside for a while, but the wind kept blowing the pages of my book, and I was unable to read in peace, so I decided to come on here, to let you know that I am still alive and kicking.

A BIG HELLO, to Sylvia, and Marie if they should look in, as it's been a while since we spoke to them.

Has anyone heard how Joyce and Jan are getting on now.?

Have a lovely weekend girls, just in case I don't get the chance to get back before it's over.
I will speak to you before we go away though.
Love and hugs to you all, Mo xxx
