Well girls ,Jeff has had a great 80th birthday, He collected his new car today, then we gave him his special gifts... first one was a special edition bottle of whiskey from S
then we bought him a suite at Old Trafford Friday night 20/20 match including buffet tea..S is going with him...then we gave him a very special watch ,all our married life he has longed for one ,so S,D and myself put together and bought him one, we are going to let him pay for our family tea out on Saturday as we are broke now :-D :-D :-D :-D
but it was a delight watching him especially the watch....he had loads of cards and a balloon from the littlies next door... poor C has a virus and couldnt come but we are hoping he will be o.k. for Saturday...so what a very good day it was for all of us....

thank you for the cards ....love jean xx <3 <3

Mo, nice to see you posting, miss hearing from you. Hope that you are not feeling too bad at the moment, and that you feel okay for your daughter's big day on Saturday.

We had to pay to get Jennie's wedding dress shortened and when we brought it home a week before the wedding we found that one side of the dress was shorter than the other. My cousin arrived the day before wedding so she sorted it out for us, thank goodness

I'm sure you will be fine reading the poem in the service, it's nice that your daughter asked you to read it, it obviously means a lot to her to want you to do it. I will be thinking about you on Saturday.

Good luck with the Colonoscopy in two weeks time, thinking about you Mo and sending you lots of hugs and positive thoughts

Jean, hope J will love the birthday surprises that you and D have planned for him
tomorrow.

Happy 80th Birthday J. Hope you will enjoy your special day.

Hope all our friends on here are all alright.

Going to Richard's tomorrow until Thursday, looking forward to it.

Mo in Kent Report 16 Jun 2014 15:56

Hello my lovelies, how are you all ?
Well, it's been pretty hectic around our house. I went with our daughter for her final wedding dress fitting on Saturday.
And guess what, even though at the last fitting, daughter said she thought the dress was a bit too long, the tailoress said all she needed to do, was walk with her head up, and she wouldn't trip over it.
Wrong, she nearly fell and broke her blessed neck at the fitting, so the whole thing has got to be shortened before this Saturday, her wedding day.
Despite the fact that the dress cost £1,400, and the fact that the length had been bought up by our daughter, they still have the nerve to charge her £75.00 to alter it, absolutely disgusting, but then what else could she do but pay it.
A friend of ours charged our daughter £75.00 to alter four bridesmaid dresses for her, and that was not done as a favour to us either, thats her normal charge for alterations, and a lovely job she has done on them as well.
We are really looking forwards to the ceremony, and I just hope and pray, we don't have the upsets, we had at our sons wedding. Mind you, the daughter I upset, will not be there, she has refused to attend, and is still not talking to me...oh well thats life I suppose.
I am a bit nervous, as our daughter wants me to read a poem out at the service. Goodness knows how it will sound, if I get my words all mixed and muddled, as I am prone to do lately. It will be something they can all laugh about later in their lives I dare say. LOL
I do hope you are all keeping well. I will let you know how the Colonoscopy goes in two weeks time.
Take care one and all. love and hugs Mo xxx

Don't know anything about Camelias Jean, maybe if you ask on the garden thread on the hobbies board somebody will know. so pleased for you that all your tests were good.

We are just back from the 3 Counties show at Malvern. A really good if hot and tiring day, got there at 0945 and left at 2.30pm. and I am sure we still didn't see all of it. We certainly missed some of the ring events.

However it was appalling to hear an announcement that they were having to break into cars to rescue dogs left. No dogs allowed in the showground because of all the animals, except for those doing the agility and obedience shows/classes.

If anyone watched BGT we had three of the Bold Dog motorcycle team there, they are really fearless.

Good day so far, doctors says all the tests I had are very good. and there was a lot...decided to continue with the new tabs for the time being, just need to sort a card out for J, all his birthday arrangements are in place, so wednsday he will be bowled over...
the theme is cricket well some of it, he is a big fan of the game....all will be revealed
;-) ;-) ;-)

Very hot here although its clouding over, I bought a hardy Fuscia plant this morning ,so need to feed it, The Camellia Daff sent me has gone berserk, its huge, how do I trim it its a huge bush now and taking over the little bit of garden at the front of the house,
it had lots of flowers early on and they all dropped off, dont think it will have a second showing though...I do have some feed for it but I dont want it get any bigger unless it can be trained upwards.....

hope you are all o.k. love Jean xxx <3 <3 <3

Mummo, lovely to see you on here, hope that everything is alright with you and your family.
I don't have any problems with the NHS aids, apart for the odd time when I've had a spot on the edge of my ear. the aid rubbed and made it quite sore. I did have a private one about five years ago,.an in the ear one but couldn't get on with it at all, the audiologists and the staff there were not very helpful at all.

Ann, the doctor seem to think that they are getting money for each referral for an assessment hearing test. I know that she was annoyed with them, she said there has to be money at the end of it somewhere.

Jean, my hair is short too and I wear glasses, and can't see the aids at all, the only thing is that it looks as though my ears push my hair out a bit....I don't mind anyone thinking that I have big ears.lolol!!

Love, Sallie. xxx

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Jun 2014 21:26

My hair is short Jean but all you can see of my NHS aids is the transparent tube. Sometimes I don't get the left one in properly and it is uncomfortable but I know how to realign it. You have to persevere to adapt to it. Jeffs should not be loose that is bad fitting. All counties aids are different though. When my sister had a NHS one it was nothing like mine.

JustJean

JustJean Report 12 Jun 2014 21:22

~~~~ to Mummo~~~~ J has one aid and it wont stay in, so he very rarely wears it , D has acute hearing so there is always a conflict about the tele, I have two aids, nhs ones although the left one irritates my ear , I mentioned it last time we went and they took no notice, now I cant find the aid probably in the waste bin, so I should go back ,but will have to pay for a new one,a friend had a great in the ear aid from spec savers , now he has got the nhs one, and loves it... swings and roundabouts...I could do to have a check up too, so will ring them soon..I wear my hair short and always think the aids are a bit to big especially when we wear glasses too...
Sallie. How strange once going to the hearing clinic you shouldn't need to be referred again.
Mummo wow I will have a look at that site thank you. Glad Ed now has his aids my sister couldn't get on with the NHS aids (Hampshire she is still in Fareham). But she went to Specsavers and doesn't get hers free. Any idea why? She is over 65 and in receipt of DLA.
Good evening ladies :-D
As you know l do enjoy reading this thread so thought l'd tell you about Ed's hearing !!!!!
well he was meant to wear hearing aids but could never get on with them so rarely wore them and over the years they have fallen apart so he went to our new doctor who referred him to Spec savers who now do hearing as well as glasses but to cut a long story short within 3 weeks he has his hearing aids and they fit lovely and he is wearing them and the icing on the cake they were FREE. :-D
Ann thought you might be interested on a group on facebook called Fareham Nostalgia, you just put that in you search bar and it should come up, you have to join the group but its really interesting, last week they was a photo of a V. E day party in St Michaels Grove.
Take care all, x
Ann, I went to see the doctor this morning and gave her the letter that I received from the audiologist, to give to the doctor. She could not understand why the audiologist had referred me to her as I have been with the hearing centre for three years so wondered why she couldn't give me an appointment for a re-assessment hearing test herself. Anyway the doc looked in my ears just to make sure there was no wax.
Very nice doctor, she is fairly new to the practice so this is the first time I have seen her. I told her that the audiology clinic had changed their appointment system and that it was much better the way it was. Now the doctor has to refer me to them for
an appointment which they already knew that I needed. Hope you can understand what I mean.lolol!!!
Hello to everyone else, hope that you are all okay.
Love and best wishes to you all.
Sallie Report 11 Jun 2014 23:40
Ann sorry, just noticed that I didn't reply to you on 5th June about hearing aids. As you probably remember me saying any problem I could ring the hearing centre direct and they would give me the earliest appointment they had for our surgery. But because my hearing has got slightly worse, I have to make an appointment with a doctor so that he/she can confirm that I need a hearing test as it is three years since I had the last one..
I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow morning, she is new to the practice so hope she is okay.....doctor I usually see is partly retired now and would have had to wait nearly four weeks to see him.
Jean, lovely to see you post. Yes I need to sort out my card making stash, I keep telling myself I am not going to buy anymore, as I have more than enough as it is. Trouble is I see new dies, embossing folders etc.. and I can't resist.lol!!
I bet J can't wait to get his new car, great that he will get it on his birthday, and such a special birthday too.
We had a flood here on Monday, I have never seen rain like we had. Both the back garden and front were under nearly two foot of water, all in a matter of ten to twelve minutes. So we now have to have new carpet in the hall, stairs and landing, not sure if we can claim off the insurance company....Alun is going to ring them tomorrow.
This morning we did the usual weekly shopping and the this afternoon we went to Derby so that I could get my hair done. Long way to go to get my hair cut I know, but no appointment needed and I like the same girl to cut my hair.
Will say goodnight now, speak to you soon.
Take care.
Hi All what slackers we all are with this thread. I often post on the Welsh thread and later think it was this one so then this one gets neglected or vice versa.
Yesterday my car passed its MOT (£39 special price at the moment). T's car was fixed and they phoned us first thing in the morning so we could pick it up when we dropped mine off. his cost £167 which I thought was quite good. The sensor was £98.
We went to Dunelm and the range while waiting for my car. Bought two new pillows and pillow protectors for our bed. A few craft bits, not much else.
Today T is playing golf and he had a late start so won't be home until 2.30 at the earliest. I went for a long walk round the village. I think it was probably about 3 miles, all flat luckily. So my legs ache now. Trying to get a bit of practice in case we manage to fit in any walks next week. T does have a short but steep one he'd like to do. :-(
