Huia Report 8 Aug 2014 06:09

The doc offered me more antibiotics for my finger but I was reluctant to have them so she prescribed an antibiotic ointment, also various pain killers for headaches.

When I got home in the afternoon Phil's hospital phoned to say he is still on oxygen and they didn't think he would recover from this chest infection, so I decided to go through and spend the night by his bed. They moved his room-sharer into another room, and gave me a recliner chair to sleep in. I dozed from 7.30, off and on, until a nurse hurried in just before 11. He had died. I was so relieved about that. I spent the rest of the night in the chair, but had trouble dozing off for several hours as I kept thinking of all the people I wanted to ring and other things to do, but I did get a bit more sleep until a carer brought me a cuppa at 5 a.m.! The doc arrived about 8 to confirm the death. He dashed in, spent 5 or 10 seconds (or so it seemed to me) then dashed out again without saying a word to me. I was rather surprised. Several people have said they thought it was rather rude.

I have arranged for Phil to be privately cremated on Monday morning.

Mo, glad to know that your colonoscopy was okay with no slight difference to be concerned with.

Jennie's colonoscopy was fine, we were at the clinic by 8.45 a.m., she went straight in and said she had it done by 9.35 a.m.......although it got busier later on.
I was more worried about her having this colonoscopy because I thought that she might have have had an operation, after being in hospital in May.

I hope Roly has had his specs by the time, he must see it nice to have them at long last.

Huia. hope that all went well at the doctors for you today. Did you have to have more antibiotics?

Hope you enjoyed your time at Christchurch last weekend, we will have to
keep check on your results, in September.

Elizabeth, nice to see on here, again, we are fine thank you, hope that all is well with you and your family.

Will speak to you all again soon......take care.

Love, Sallie. xxx

Voting isn't until 20 Sept., Mo.

I am off to doc this morning as my finger still seems to be a bit infected, and I also have my headaches back.

Mo in Kent Report 6 Aug 2014 18:40

Sallie, my G.P chased up my results of the colonoscopy, and there were slight differences, but they are not overly worried, and I have to have it done again in five years time.
I hope and pray that Jennie's goes well tomorrow morning. Oh bless her, I bet she is getting fed up of siting on the porcelain seat by now. I felt like I had been left with an impression of a loo seat on my BTM.
Oh and guess what, the opticians phoned Roly today, he can go and pick his specs up tomorrow. Considering he had to wait ten days the first time round, I am wondering if they sent them off at all, and hoping that Roly will be a numpty, and say yes they are better this time, when in fact nothing has been done with them.
Don't worry, mummy Mo will give him his orders before he goes....( not that he will take a blind bit of notice of what I say.LOL)

Huia, how did the voting go, did you make it this time my love. I am going to have a look on F.B right now, to see your photo's.

Byeee everyone, take care, Mo xxx

Huia Report 6 Aug 2014 01:36

I arrived home 2 days ago. I have been cropping and downsizing and uploading my photos to FB, 3 albums on there but a few more photos to add to the last one.

Sallie, is Alun (sp) on FB? Can I befriend him so you can see my photos?

Sallie

Sallie Report 5 Aug 2014 22:10

Hi Mo, I think that the optician was making excuses too,not having had any lunch may have made a small difference to his eyesight, but I don't think it would have been as bad as it was.

I have been wondering for a while how Flo was, I hope that the infection will soon clear so that she can have the magnetic screws fitted for her new nose. Please wish her all the very best and hope that things will be a lot better for her soon.

Also thinking about Ann, and hoping that things are not too bad for her at the moment and that she is not finding her monthly transfusions too difficult to cope with.

Jennie, has an appointment for a colonoscopy on Thursday morning, the consultant she is under is doing it as she wants to check how things are after her last ' flare up' in May. So crossing my fingers that things will be okay.

Did the hospital ever manage to chase up the results of your colonoscopy? I hope so and that the results were okay.

Hello to everyone else, hope that you are all okay.

Take care.

Love, Sallie. xxx

Mo in Kent Report 4 Aug 2014 18:29

Well Sallie, the update on the glasses saga is as follows. The optician checked the glasses again, and the readers are the correct prescription, but the distance ones were wrong.
The right eye is slightly wrong, and needed changing for a stronger lens.
Because of Roly's diabetes, he reckons that could be a reason for the the difference.
When his eyes were tested, we hadn't had any lunch, and he thinks that could have made the reading wrong.
Personally, I think he was just making excuses, to cover his error. But we will find out in five days time, when he has to pick the new glasses up.
The strange thing was, that when he tried the readers on again, he could read the smallest letters, and was unable to last week.
Cor lummy, he is an awkward so and so sometimes. LOL

Ann, how is T now ? I am trying to remember when he will get his results from his blood test.

At the moment, I have so many hospital appointments in my head, with both my friends, and my daughter suffering with her back problems.
My friend Flo, is still not healed enough for her to have the magnetic screws fitted for her new nose. Bless her, she has had an infection in the wound, and it's taking ages to heal. That 's the worst thing with getting older, we take ages to heal.
Ann, who has the bone Cancer, is still plodding along, and has to have her transfusions once a month.

Well girls, I will say bye for now. Love to all, Mo xxx

Sallie Report 4 Aug 2014 14:55

Mo, hope Roly's eye test has gone well this time and that he will soon get the glasses that is the correct for him. I'm wondering if the optician has written someone else's prescription by mistake, so of course when they checked it with the glasses it would read the same. How on earth did they expect him to drive home with them on and then to give them a couple of days to get use to them...never heard anything like it . I'm sure they will be extra careful this time though.

Hope that you and all the family are all okay.

Ann, I hope that T isn't in as much pain today as he's been in and that his blood test results are back and the doctor now knows what is wrong with him and are able to treat it.
Hope that you are okay too.

Jean, if you are looking in, I hope that the problem with your voice is slowly improving and that you you are feeling a bit better.

Also hope that all the family are okay too.

Sylvia, hope all is well with you and OH.

Huia, I expect that you are home from Christchurch by now, hope it all went well for you.

Also hope that Phil's chest infection is improving.

Marie. hope all is well with you and your family.

I haven't got any news, but just thought that I would look in to see how you all are.

Will chat to you all again soon.

Mo in Kent Report 3 Aug 2014 19:22

Helloooo everyone.
It's little old me, just popping in to see how you all are.
Nothing exciting has been happening here, just another day as per norm.
Not seen any of the family, they are all busy doing their own things I dare say.

I forgot to tell you the story of Roly, and his new glasses. When he had his eyes tested, he was told he needed both reading and distance glasses changing, as his sight has deteriarated since his stroke.
So Friday we had to go and pick them up....wrong.... when he tried them on, they were worse than his old ones.
They checked the prescription, and yes the correct lenses had been put in.
So Roly was told he had to let his eyes become acclimatised to them, oh no, that was not going to happen.
If he couldn't see with them before he took them home, how on earth was he going to be able to read, and drive home.
So back we go tomorrow, to get his eyes re-tested, we cannot understand how his sight could get worse in a matter of 10 days. We think the optician must have written the wrong reading down, and why pay for something that is going to be no use at all.
So wait and see what happens tomorrow, if you see a big cloud of dust coming from the Kent area, you will know Roly has lost his cool with them. LOL

Bye for now girls, hugs Mo xxx

Hello girls,

We went to Derby this morning, Alun needed to get his hair cut, I was going to leave mine for another couple of weeks, but with it being early it was fairly quiet and Lisa, who always cuts my hair for me was finishing some one else's so thought I might as well get it done then.

It was raining here this morning but started to brighten up this afternoon and now it is a lovely bright sunny evening, still warm but cooler that it has been, thank goodness.

Ann, sorry to hear that T is still in a lot of pain, I bet Monday can't come soon enough for him when hopefully the doctor will know what the problem is and can give him some medication that will soon sort out the problem.

Sylvia, pleased that you have managed to get a new monitor, although it is a rectangular screen when you are use to square ones. I'm sure that it won't take you too long to get use to it.

I haven't got any news really, but thought it would be nice to look in.

Hope everyone else is okay.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Hi Mo, and everyone

Yes, quite a surprise when I realised it was my brother's actual house, not just "one on the right street" :-)

I can't see more than the Google street view of the house where I was born nor my grandparents' house across the street ................ I'd love to see how either one of the houses has been altered inside! The one where I was born and lived in until 1951 did not have an indoor toilet (let alone bath) when we left it!

I had computer trouble this morning ............. the screen would not light up.

On the off chance that it was the monitor that was in trouble .......... we took it down to Mr Go Go Geek, our computer whiz

................... now I have a new monitor!

It is taking some getting used to ..................... it is a 22" rectangular screen, whereas I've always had square screens in the past.

Everything is stretched out ........... looking at photos of people is rather like being in the fairground Hall of Mirrors :-D

We still have our hot weather ............ but it has clouded over this afternoon, so it is now hot and muggy :-(

take care everyone

Isn't it just Mo?

Sallie glad you had a good day in Wales, good to get together.
Tony's leg is no better, still very painful just wish we knew what it is. He rested it most of today as well.

Sallie

Sallie Report 1 Aug 2014 22:16

Just a quick look in to see if you are all okay.

We had a lovely day in Wales yesterday, it was nice to have a family get together, so we could all catch up with each others news. Went to visit my cousin in the home she is in, her daughter was visiting her too, so we then all went to meet the rest of the family for a meal out. It all went well and my cousin seemed to have coped very well with us all there. Both her daughter and myself thought that she might get a bit agitated with so many people around her, but she was okay.

It rained nearly all the time we were down there, it was dry and quite nice to start with, but then it started to rain at lunch time and didn't stop very much until we left.
Apparently it had been a hot and sunny here all day, Michael came to look after the dog, and while he was here he cut the lawns, and watered the garden and all the pots for us. Of course we had heavy rain last night, so the garden and the pots have had a good soaking.

Mo, hope that Ava is a lot better now and hope that Lilly is okay too.
Also hope that you and Roly are okay too.

Ann, hope that T is in less pain than he has been and that the doctors will soon get things sorted for him.

Sylvia, that was a coincidence actually zooming in on your brother's old house, it must have brought back a few memories to you.

Hope that you and OH are both okay.

Jean, hope that your voice is not as bad as it has been. Let's hope that whatever it is it will get sorted very soon.
Hope that J, D and the rest of your family are fine.

Huia, hope that all is going well in Christchurch for you and that you are enjoying being there.

Marie, hope that all is well with you and your family.

Hope you will all have a lovely weekend.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie. xxx

LOL Ann, thats typical, especially if you wash the windows or the car, it's guaranteed to rain as well.

AnninGlos Report 1 Aug 2014 17:11

Lavender should survive the heat Mo but 6 years is good for one in a pot.
It has been raining here for about a half hour so the garden should be refreshed. guess who had the hose out this morning watering the pots and hanging baskets and beans? :-S

Mo in Kent Report 1 Aug 2014 16:37

Oh good news Ann. Thank goodness you didn't have to hang around for to long.

Today has been another scorcher, but Roly had a phone call from a friend in Bury, and it was tipping it down with rain there...oh I wish it was us.

I have had to cut our Honeysuckle bush right back today. The poor thing has turned very woody, and I am just hoping and praying it will survive till next year.
It was in the garden, when we moved here all those years ago, and the area of the garden it's in, looks so sparse now.
It looks like I shall have to replace the Lavender next year as well. That has also been in it's pot for at least six years, but I think it's had it's day now.
Oh well, it looks like I shall be a busy girl next year, replacing plants that this years weather has killed off.

Have a lovely weekend girls, whatever you have planned. Hugs Mo xxx

Mo, the walk in clinic is part of our local hospital. In the end he decided that it was as easy to walk (with a stick) as from the bus to hospital is no further than from the car park. He took it very slowly and stopped for rests. Got it done anyway. Didn't have to wait long at all because he had been sent by a doctor.

Huia sorry to hear that Phil is ill, hope the antibiotics are making him comfortable. Hope you have a good trip.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 31 Jul 2014 21:42

Sylvia, I tried googling the road all my family lived in at one time, only to find it had been demolished, and new houses had been built, and was nothing like I remembered. LOL
You were so lucky in your search Sylvia, and I bet the price of the house has now risen considerately from the £48,000 it sold for back in 2000.
When we bought our house, we paid £48,000 back in 1989, and it's now worth at least £160,000, and thats with the drop in the housing market..

Ann, it doesn't surprise me that the doctor couldn't find out the cause of T's painful leg. It's about the norm these days unfortunately.
What a pain having to go to the drop in centre for the blood test. I don't know if the same is happening in your area, but our local hospital has stopped doing blood tests whereas they had done them for donkeys years.
We now have to go to our medical centres, but we do have a choice of three close to us.
When I was at the hospital the other day, I couldn't believe how many people were waiting to be seen at the Medoc drop in centre, thats the emergency doctors, instead of going to their own G.P's. I suppose they couldn't get an appointment at their own practices. But I thought services like Medoc, were for emergencies only.

Good luck Huia, in your quest for candidacy. I seem to remember your trying for it last year my love, I hope you have more success this year.
I hope you managed to shorten the sleeves of your garments, but I bet they look very elegant on you.
I am sorry to hear that Phil is unwell again. Poor chap seems to be going through so much recently, but then, he isn't as active as he was a few years ago, and will be prone to anything thats going around.

Sallie, I hope you and Alun have had a lovely time in Wales.

I will say goodnight god bless you all. Love Mo xxx
