Mo in Kent Report 5 Mar 2015 13:35

Ann, I must put a colour on my hair very soon. After I have my hair cut, as you know I keep it short, the grey soon shows through, especially at the sides, and by my ears, and the grey makes me look so washed out, so I need a colour boost to cheer me up when I look at that stranger in the mirror. LOL

Sallie my love, thank goodness Alun was able to have the ECG done at your doctors surgery. The doctor would be shown the result straight away, so it's an encouraging sign if the doctor didn't ask to see him there and then.
When Roly had his stroke, his blood pressure was absolutely sky high, and the doctor phoned the hospital straight away, and got him admitted there and then.
My poor brother had to wait a good few months before he was admitted for his triple byepass, but then he showed no outward signs of there being any problems, it was his GP who discovered the faults in his heart.

Jean, have I read your post correctly, £15,65, or did J pay £15.65 for the books. Goodness me, you would need to take out a second mortgage if they cost the first price. ( I bet that was a typing error really, but did make me re read the post lol )
Is it this coming Wednesday you have got your oral check up my love.? God willing things will be fine.xxx

We are going to the nursery to pick our Lilly up this afternoon. Mummy and Daddy have got the vicar coming to see them at three, to arrange Ava's christening.
They are so lucky the church is available to them on Eater Sunday. Time was this was not allowed, due the the sunday services held on this day.

Bye for now my lovelies. Mo xxx

I have the oral check up next week, so thats a treat to come.

hope everyone is doing o.k. just a few things still to put away and a bit of washing so will do that then may have a play with my latest stamps and dies,so will chat later take care ....Love Jean xxx

Sallie Report 4 Mar 2015 23:14

Hello girls.

A bit late coming on here tonight, I have had a busy day today, what with the doing the weekly shop this morning week, then made a couple of cards before going to the doctors with Alun. Well Alun had the ECG done, it didn't take very long, he now has to wait to see or hear from the doctor. One of the Sisters in the surgery did it, so the doctor now has to look at it.

Jean, I am sorry that you and J had to leave your holiday earlier than you should have, because of the heating not being adequate enough. You are both much better off at home where you are warm and comfortable.

Well at least you had a meal out, to celebrate your 59 th anniversary.

Sylvia, lovelyto hear from you. You seem to be enjoying some good weather over there.

We have a couple of bright and sunny days, but the wind t has been bitterly cold. It's great to see the evenings getting lighter.

Mo, My mother was just like yours, she always insisted that the clothes were always well dried and well aired, because if you put damp clothes on, you would get rheumatism or arthritis. I don't think that a lot of younger people take much if any notice of that these days.

Ann, yes I am doing really well with card making now, It's great to be able to make them again.

I haven't heard anything from Joyce for a very long time, like Jean I don't go on Facebook.

Hello to Huia and Marie if you are both looking in, hope that you are both okay.

I am going to make a hot drink now and try to get to bed a bit earlier than I have done for a very long time.

Goodnight to all our lovely friends.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Oh Jean, sorry you had to lose the last few days, still no point in being cold and at least you had a meal out. It is bad though if the heating is inadequate in a holiday flat. I presume you didn't find a craft shop? Glad you liked your cards.

Mo, Joyce has been on facebook with a birthday message for her son today.

It was sunny here today but very cold. I had my hair coloured so goodbye to grey for a while

Mo in Kent Report 4 Mar 2015 17:51

Oh no Jean, what a shame you had to come home early, but there was no point in being cold all the time love.
I messaged Joyce on here Jean, but have not heard back from her yet. I am not sure if she responds to messages now, and her F.B is I presume used for games, as there are not many comments on there. I will try to message her on there tonight, just in case she is looking in and not posting herself.
Stay warm sweetheart, and get the chill out of your bones.

Hello there Sylvia.
We have been very lucky in our part of the U.K, no snow as of yet, and today has been glorious.
I pegged all the washing on the line, and it was dry within a couple of hours, so much nicer than having to have it hanging on the clothes horse for a couple of days.
Like you, I do not iron all the clothing or undies, or bedding come to that. It is normally just Roly's shirts, and cotton items that need the creases smoothing out.
My jeans and trousers are normally wash and wear, as long as they are well dry obviously.
My mum used to say that things had to be bone dry, before wearing them, and I have always followed her words of wisdom. She told us we would get rheumatism if things were damp when worn. So I don't know how I ended up with Arthritus instead of rheumatism, as all our clothing has always been thoroughly dried. LOL
I wonder if the old wives tales we were told, are told to youngsters these days.

Tomoorow Roly is going to the hearing clinic, to get his aids sorted out. The right ear aid is not as good as it could be, and both aids need retubing. Luckily, they retube every six months, free of charge, as Roly is always messing about with them, thats probably why they are not working properly.
Lord help me tomorrow, he will hear all the swear words I mumble under my breath at him, after they are sorted out. lol

Bye for now girls, speak to you tomorrow. Mo xxx

Hi everyone we came home early the winds were very severe and bitterley cold , The flat we were in was cold also , our ceiling height at home is approx 8ft high, the height in the flat was approx 15ft high, so any heating was not enough, I was sitting with the car rug round me, so J decided It would be better to call it a day, we did manage to have a meal on our 59th anniversary, we were near to a pub and the meals were good, we had Sausage and Mash and a sweet too....lol..... :-D :-D :-D :-D but now we are home and warm...thank you all for your lovely cards ...now its the unpacking to tackle, wont take long we didnt take much, Mo will you add my thanks to Joyce for her card also I dont do F/B love to you all Jean xxx <3 <3 <3

Hi everyone

another lovely sunny day ............ it will get up to about 9C today, down to freezing last night and tonight. But the moon was beautiful

I'm just a lazy so-and-so .......................................

I hardly iron anything :-D :-D

I haven't ironed since very soon after we got married

........... certainly not sheets, towels, hankies or underwear like my mother used to do

His shirts are all non-iron ............. they are washed on cool wash cold rinse gentle cycle, taken out of the machine, shaken and hung on coat hangers to dry.

He says "they get wrinkled within 5 minutes of putting on, so why iron them?" !!

I do have one or two cotton skirts that need to be shown an iron after being washed, but that is about it.

Mind you, we have a top loading washing machine ................... and I think they are much better at not creasing clothes.

The few times I have washed clothes in England, it's always been in a side loader........ and our clothes have come out terribly creased :-(

I've never had a drier ................... we have lines in the laundry area of the basement, and we peg everything on them to dry.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 3 Mar 2015 16:48

Oh goodness me Ann, I hope the stamping ink came out of the carpet.

Roly doesn't know what the iron is used for lol but mind you, I tend to leave his shirts to build up, before I iron them, as I hate doing them, I stood and ironed six a couple of days ago.
Roly's answer is, "Well I have got loads left in the wardrobe, there is no rush for them" I bet he wouldn't say that if he had to iron them himself.

Good grief Sallie, how did you manage to eat three chops, I have trouble eating two at a push, and then they need to be covered in mint sauce.
But I can imagine your face when they were put in front of you. Probably shock and horror hit you big time.

Must go now, speak to you tomorrow girls. Hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 3 Mar 2015 01:14

Mo and Ann you have been busy ladies today, well done! Our windows need cleaning too, they are filthy, so hope we can get to clean them soon.

Mo. I am so sorry to hear that the situation with your daughter still isn't any better. It's hard to understand how she can carry on being the way she is.

Pleased that you both enjoyed the meal out for your anniversary. Your size of the dessert you had reminded me of the second time we were in New York on holiday. We went into an Irish Bar which was a very nice restaurant,I decided to have lamb loin chops, expecting to have about two or three, but when it was served there were no fewer than eight on the plate along with all the veg, My family thought it was funny as I have only got a small appetite....needless to say I only managed to eat three of the chops.

Ann, I hope that T managed to get the ink out of the carpet? Not sure if stamping ink is difficult to get out of clothing, carpets etc.

It's nice to be back into card making again, the trouble is, I would much to prefer to be making the cards than ironing and all the boring jobs that needs to be done, lolol !!

Huia, good to see that you still managing to post. It sounds as though the charity shop
is keeping you very busy. Take care and try not to overdo things.

Jean, if you are looking in, I hope that you and J are enjoying yourselves and that the weather is good to you.

Well, I'm off to bed now, I'm really tired now.

Goodnight everyone and take care.

Cooeee Ann, I nearly missed you love.
Goodness me, you and T have been bust bees today as well.
Our outside windows get done by our window cleaner, but the insides have to be done by us.
Our neighbour bought themselves the same machine as we have for doing their windows, so tomorrow, I shall black my nose, and see if they have done theirs yet LOL.
Having the Karcher does make cleaning so much easier.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 2 Mar 2015 17:50

Hi Mo, well our windows ARE filthy, we really must get around to doing them. Trouble is it is no point doing them when it is going to rain. and when it is sunny we forget. today T has put back up the bathroom blind that fell down, and shampooed some of our carpets, mainly prompted by me getting some stamping ink on the landing carpet after a stamp pad broke up and got everywhere, and he also fixed one of his car lights that went.

He also ironed the sheets and pillowcases washed yesterday and I did another wash load and got it dry half in the conservatory and half on the line.

We managed to fit in a visit to The range to buy the car light bulbs and some carpet shampoo, and to PC World for a new monitor for me so we have had a busy day.
I hope Jean is enjoying her break and that the weather is ok.

Glad you liked your card Mo.

Sallie, you have been busy card making as well.

Huia I am sure you will find an occasion on which to wear the necklaces. :-D :-D

Mo in Kent Report 2 Mar 2015 17:42

Unfortunately Sallie, things between my daughter and I seem to have gone to far, for there to be any resolution. As long a she doesn't ignore her dad I can endure it. I am here if she wants or needs me no matter what.
Our meal was lovely, I had a rack of ribs that I thoroughly enjoyed, and we shared a lemon merangue dessert. It came in an enormous glass dish, and when we looked at it, we said we will never eat that, but we did. People at the next table were laughing there heads off at us, as I kept having to stand up, and dig into the bottom of the dish to get to the ice cream....yummy it was delicious.

Huia, are you still doing your campaining? Perhaps you could wear some of your new necklaces then.

I hope Joyce is looking in, as I would like to thank her for her card that arrived today. I might have to go onto F.B to thank her.

We have been very good today, washed all the net curtains, and Roly did the inside windows with our Karcher, the house seems to be lovely and bright now that the sun can shine through the window panes. I make it sound like they were filthy, but they weren't really, just needed refreshing thats all.

I hope that our dear friends who are away, are enjoying the rest and relaxation.
Take care, Mo xxx

Hi girls,

Mo, pleased that you and Roly enjoyed your Anniversary yesterday. It sounds as though you had lots of cards and flowers....hope you had enough vases to put them all in.
lolol!! Also hope that you all enjoyed your meal out.

I am glad that you got your card safely.

Mo, I thought that everything was now sorted between you and your daughter. It is such a shame that she is carrying on not speaking to you. I can't understand why she is carrying on being the way she is.

Sylvia, lovely to see you on here again, we all miss seeing you. I didn't realise Ann had gone to Cornwall this weekend, I knew she was going soon but not this soon. lol!!

Let's hope that your daughter and grandson will be able to visit you in May as planned, and that all will be well with your son-in-law so they.

Thank for your good wishes for Alun. He is having the ECG on Wednesday but
waiting for an appointment to come through for an echocardiogram.

Huia, lovely to see you post again, lets hope that it will work okay from now on.

Are you still working in the in charity shop? Hope that your cough will soon be a lot better.

Jean and Ann hope that you will both enjoy your holidays and that weather will be good for the both of you. Take care.

Will speak to you all tomorrow.

Hello there Huia and Sylvia.

Fingers crossed your computer behaves itself Huia. Hopefully you will soon be able to get back to your normal way of sleeping.
I love to sleep on my right side, but lately, I am waking early on my left side. It does surpise me as I do tend to have difficulty turning over, and normally wake up when I turn over, and heave myself over. My joints get stuck in one position, and crack like nobody's business when I do try to turn over. Poor old thing arn't I. LOL

Oh Sylvia, I had to laugh when you said that you will need to pay for your daughters
flight. It's amazing how often the bank of mum and dad still has to be raided by our children, even at their ages. I personally was worried when our sons car went wrong the other day, there was I, adding up the cost before he had even asked, but forunately for us, he paid for it himself for a change.. But then they are our children, and we have always supported them from birth upwards.

We have had a wonderful Anniversary weekend, the house is looking like a florists, and cards are everwhere, wonderful.
Roly is fast asleep in his chair now, bless him, he can't take the pace anymore.
Thank you all again for your cards and best wishes.
I will say goodnight for now. Mo xxx

Huia Report 1 Mar 2015 01:28

My computer seems to be behaving fairly well at present, so HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Mo and Roly. I just hope this will post.

My scratchy throat seems to be improved. Whether it is the antibiotics or the slightly different medication the doc prescribed for the reflux, or the fact that I have propped up the head of the bed and am not sleeping on my tummy I dont know. Maybe when I finish the antibios if the throat returns I will know, or if I start sleeping on my tummy again (my preference). Time will tell.

Now fingers crossed that I dont keep getting the error message.

Hi Mo and everyone ..................

I hadn't realised that it is so long since I posted!!

Mo .............. hope you and Roly had a lovely day yesterday xx

Sallie .......... I hope that Alun gets sorted quickly!

Jean ......... enjoy your holiday

Ann ....... I see you in Wales :-) I hope you enjoy your break in Cornwall.

OH and I will celebrate our 48th anniversary later this year ................ but we first met 56 years ago :-)

Life is trundling along here, everyone seems fine. Our daughter and grandson hope to visit at the end of May, but she hasn't yet made the final decision ........ it depends on how her OH is doing. Of course, I have to pay for their plane tickets :-( . But it is lovely to see them.

Our weather has been very strange .................. either warm and wet for days at a time, or warm, sunny and dry for days at a time. Seriously, the temperatures have been much warmer than normal ever since before Christmas.

Take care eveyrone

Well what can I say, apart from thank you, Sallie, Ann and Jean, the cards are really beautiful.

Goodness me Sallie, how did your brother manage in those temperatures, I bet it was such a shock to his system coming back to our cold wet weather.
You will have so much news to catch up on, when you do meet up.
Yes my gang are doing o.k thank you. One of our sons is off to Mexico on Monday, for a holiday, it's their anniversary the day after they fly out.
Youngest son, is having problems with his car, but fortunately he is on holiday at the moment, or he would be snookered in getting to work, and has time to get it repaired before he has to go back to work.
Our Lilly has started sleep walking, thank goodness they have got a stair gate at the top of the stairs, or she could possibly fall down them.
Baby Ava is a real beauty, she has now got two teeth, and a head of dark hair, most unusual for our family.
She shuffles round the room on her bottom, we don't think she will crawl at all.
Eldest daughter is still not speaking to me. She sent an anniverary card via our next to eldest daughter...oh well thats life.

Hi there Elizabeth, thank you for popping in to see us.

Going to have a quick bath now, ready to go out for our evening meal. Bye my friends, hugs Mo xxx

Mo, yes my brother arrived home from St. Helena on 4th February. With the temperatures there being between 32 and 44 degrees celsius, it took him a couple of weeks before he could get acclimatised again.
We haven't seen him since he's home, so are hoping to go down to see him in the next couple of weeks.

Family are all okay, thanks Mo. I hope that all your family are well and with no worries.

Michael is working all over the weekend, trying to earn some extra money. with it being a long weekend for Jennie, she rang us this morning to ask if it would be okay to come to Derby with us tomorrow morning. It will be nice to have her to chat to.

Happy Anniversary to you . and Roly. Hope you will both have a wonderful day.
Love and hugs to you both. <3 <3 <3

Elizabeth, always lovely to hear from you. Thank you for your good wishes for the weekend. Hope that you and your family will have a good weekend too.

It's nice to be able to chat on here once again, hope now it is onward and upwards.

Jean, hope that you and J will have a safe and good journey tomorrow. Enjoy your week and hope the weather will be kind to you.

Huia, hope that the virus will soon go and that you will feel better.

Hope thaty our internet will soon get sorted and that you will be able to send replies and messages all of the time.

Ann, is your daughter still staying with you? Hope she managed to get some thing that she wanted, at the craft show too.

Well I must go to bed now so will chat tomorrow.
