just watching the news and see there was a earthquake in Kent I hope Mo and family are o.k. what a fright, a lot of folk would wonder what was happening....

talking of weight (not a word I like) I lost one and a half stone before christmas and now find I have slipped back into the old ways and put the lot back on, very depressing at my age, its so much harder to come off :-( :-( :-( but I struggle so much with walking so I will have another go and see if it helps.... D and I do Slimming World usually,. really all the same as you do Ann and Sallie....so onwards we go ;-) ;-)
now what to have for breakfast.... see you later...

love to everyone Jean xx

Jean, like Ann I too thought that it wouldn't be very long before you would make some more cards. lolol!!! Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the cards you have just made.

Hope you all enjoyed the home made beefburgers for your tea. Did you make them Jean?

Ann, I really need to lose some weight, the medication I am on has made me put on a good bit. I would like to be able to stop taking it, but at the moment I know that won't be possible. I am also on a high dosage, so it has made it a lot more difficult to get the weight off.

When I diet, I still use the Weight Watchers diet from a good few years ago, fish, chicken, salads, vegetables and fresh fruit. I find that I can lose a steady two to three pounds a week. while I'm on it. But can't lose as much when I'm on this medication.

Hope that both you and T are managing to lose weight okay.

Mo, hope that both you and Roly are okay. I hope that Roly's blood pressure is staying down and that he is feeling a bit better each day.

Hope that everything is alright with Lilly and that she hasn't tried to open any more windows lately. Just want and hope for her stay safe.

Huia, pleased to see that your internet is now working okay. Hope that you are getting along alright. Are you still working in the charity shop?

Sylvia, hope you and OH are enjoying your daughter and grandson's stay with you and that the weather has been good for them.

Marie, we haven't heard from you for a while, hope all is okay with you and your family.

Well girls I am going to bed now, so will chat again soon.

Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes.

I just knew Jean, and then you don't do anything by halves do you? I look forward to seeing them.

glad you liked the photos, I did only put a couple of Luke on there because they were all similar.

Burger and chips sounds nice but we are trying to stick to fish, slads and chicken for a few weeks as we have found that is the best diet to lose weight with. :-)

Not good enough is it Huia?

I have photos from Hampshire and the latest of our garden both on facebook and on my blog.

Huia

Huia Report 20 May 2015 01:55

I have been blocked from a community page on FB because I dared to criticise the fact that they did not say where the photos came from. It is a legal requirement for a lot of them to state that. I am not the only one, my friend from whose page they took the photos had also pointed it out to them and he was blocked, and Gail, who I believe was Ruby from Oz on here, 'liked' my comment before it was removed, and she is now also blocked. If there is any more illegal copying of my dad's photos without my permission and an acknowledgement, or of photos from my friend's page, I will try to contact FB and get them removed, and also the whole page. What is wrong with including an acknowledgement?

That is good Huia, strange the other people didn't tell you that, guess theyw anted to make the money from you. Hopefully you will be able to be on here a bit more now.

Sallie It is good to see you back with us, sorry you have had a blip but at list you were able to make some cards. Aluns appointment will soon come round now and, as Jean says, it is the not knowing that is a worry.
Jean, I am sure it won't be long before you get itchy fingers again and start making more cards.

Mo, hope you are ok and the family too.

We had a lovely long weekend in Hampshire and it was great to see Luke walking/running around. He is still such an amenable child and gave us a big smile when we walked in the door. He has a good memory and we are sure he remembered us. The weather was mixed but Saturday was glorious so we were able to walk and sit by the sea. Back later, got to go shopping for food.

Hi,Sallie, glad you are back with us , its like losing an arm if you are missing :-D :-D :-D
hope Alun can get good results when he goes to the hospital, It must be a worry its the not knowing that causes the upset......

I have not made any cards for some time I have a huge stock of ready made ones, so have spent time going through every drawer and box throwing bits of scrap away ,I would never use most of it...came across all manner of things I had forgotten I had, sorted all the diecuts into cello bags so I can get at them easier, and bought some new storage drawers they hold A4 sizes with lids so all i need to do now is label what each drawer holds.. got them off C/C two lots that stack on each other.... looks much neater now....

I am always glad when the visit to the eye clinic is o.k. I have new glasses too. just need to get my weight down and hope it helps with my walking. not easy at my age its hard to shift the bulk ;-) ;-) ;-) plus I object having to do it :-| :-| its my liking of sweet stuff that lets me down, that and little will power :-( :-(

we will continue to pray for Alun and the rest of your family......so lovely lady try and stay strongand keep making the cards :-D :-D :-D

Hello girls, sorry not been on for a while, but have had a bit of ' a blip ' lately, so haven't been able to post much on here and GR at all.

Mo, I hope that Roly's blood pressure is staying down and that he is feeling a lot better.

Oh dear, it doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened with Lillie trying to throw the cat out of their bedroom window. She is a little monkey, and as you said, 'what will she think of next '?...........it seems nothing is too hot to handle, for her.lol! But it is very worrying for you all, Your son and daughter in law need to have their eyes in the back of their heads.
I hope that she will settle down soon, Mo.

Hope that your granddaughter is feeling a lot better after her tummy upset and that all is going well for her.

Jean, hope that you and the family that are all okay. It was lovely to have C for a few hours, I bet he loved sitting and having toast with you, it was something new to him, not having had him there so early and in time to join you for breakfast. Bless him.

Yes, I am still making some cards, it certainly helps me to keep going. I am desperately trying not to go into craft shops, so that I can use up some of my stash before buying more, but it isn't always easy.LOL!!
Jennie did start making cards but soon lost interest in doing them, I'm afraid.....wish she had kept on really.

Jean, pleased that your appointment at the Eye Clinic went well and that you don't have to go back for another six months.

Sylvia, it will be lovely for you and OH to have your daughter and grandson staying with you for a week, it will be nice to have them to yourselves, without your son in law being there.

Have you got any outings planned for you all for that week? Hope that the weather will be good during their stay.

Ann, you have been busy in your garden, I'm sure it looks beautiful now. It's always nice to sit in the garden and admire all the hard work you have put in, to make it look like it does.

Sounds as though you both enjoyed your day out at the Malvern Festival and Garden Show and managed to buy quite a few plants.

Huia, hope that all is well with you and that your internet is now sorted out and hope that you are no longer getting the ' Error ' message coming up,

Marie, hope that all is wll with you and your family. Sorry I missed your birthday on the 11th, hope you had a lovely day.

Two weeks today, Alun goes to see the Heart Specialist I shall be glad when he has
been so that we know what is what. At the moment he is having problems with keeping his blood pressure down, it won;t be too long to wait now, thank goodness.

Must go and have my dinner now, will speak to you all soon.

Love to you all. 3 <3 <3

Hi Mo

They will be here for a week ...... it isn't the absolutely perfect time for us. OH has 3 weeks in the eyar when he is committed to full days at the university, and this is the first week of those :-(

Still he has managed to hand off some of his duties to others ................ and it is lovely to see them regardless of our our difficulties with the timing!

They do grow fast! Daughter sent us a photo last week of him after "a hard day at preschool". He was relaxing on the settee, a book on his knee, and wearing long pants, shirt and tie!! That was his choice of clothing :-D

She says that he astonishes her sometimes with the questions he asks, and the things that he has noticed ..... things that she has not spotted!

Oh lovely Sylvia, having your daughter and grandson to yourselves, without your S.I.L's interference.
How long are they coming for ?
I can't believe that your grandson starts full time kindy in September. But then having said that, our Lilly also starts full time education at the same time. They seem to grow so quickly don't they.

Oh Ann, I really had to laugh at your escapades over the previuos days. Men don't like to admit that their waistlines expand with age.
Roly is always saying that he has got a slipped chest, since his pectoral muscles dissappeared, I say he's got a beer barrel, not and eight pack. Mind you, he has not had a drink since his stroke back in 2013.
Poor T must have had a bad day, leaving his card and watch behind in the shop.
The number of times I have walked away without my Tesco club card is unbelievable, and then had to get a new one, such a nuisance.

We had our great grandaughter this morning, for a few hours. Oh she is so funny. For a girl of only four, she is way ahead of herself mentally. She was pretending to book me a holiday on the internet....(with no computer I might add ).
She told me my flight number, what colour my plane would be, my destination etc, such a vivid imagination.
If I wanted to book it myself, she told me I had to click onto certain icons, and print out the booking form.
Good lord, she watches her mum and my daughter when they are on the net, and manages to copy them, in fact I think she knows more than I do. LOL

Well I will say bye for now girls, take care, love to you all, Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone

we are still having warmer weather ........ although it was a bit cloudy today with some early morning showers.

It is supposed to clear up by the weekend, which will be nice as our daughter and grandson arrive on Friday evening. I think you all know a little about the problems we have with s-i-l, especially when we go over there ......... so it is nice to have time to chat with our daughter. I fear this will be the last visit they make "out of school time", as grandson starts full day kindy in September.

Monday is also a Stat Holiday here ........... Victoria Day, celebrating Queen Victoria's Birthday :-D

I'm sure I've mentioned it before!

Ann ............ you had a very full weekend!!

AnninGlos Report 11 May 2015 17:04

Hello girls, lovely day here today so been pottering in the garden which is starting to look really nice as T has been working very hard out there.

Haven't been on much lately as there seems to have been quite a bit to do, plus we have been out and about quite a bit so what have we been up to.

On 7th May, polling day, we had no need to vote so went into town instead as I had a chiropodist appointment. Popped in to M&S and they had a lot of reduced items. Was very pleased to find a Per Una lacy top in a pretty orange colour which fitted well. Then I also found a pair of white jeans in the classic range, which also fitted well, but which, of course, were not reduced. Tony bought a pair of summer weight trousers and a short sleeved shirt. Of course, being a man who ‘knows what fits him’, he didn’t try them on and when he got home they were too tight. “But they are the same size I always wear!”.’ But you have put on weight’. “But my old ones still fit” Explained that they have given with wear. “Oh”.
On the 8th May it was the Malvern Spring festival garden show. We left home at 0830 and got home just after 3pm. Unfortunately we arrived at a time when we were directed to park as far away from the gate as it was possible so a long walk in. It was a long day but an enjoyable one. We headed first for the food hall where we bought Asparagus, cheese, pasties and sausages. We then had a cup of coffee before splitting up for an hour and wondering round on our own. I had a quick look around the plant stalls outside before making my way to the Flower arranging hall where there were some beautiful displays. People are so clever and so artistic. After we met up we bought a few plants then headed for one of the halls where we could eat our pasties for lunch. There was a really good amount of seating available this year both inside and out, we were very impressed. There were as usual, however, long queues for drinks and food.
After lunch we walked around buying climbing fuchsias, Hostas and Aquilegia before staggering back to the car. Well I went as far as the gate while Tony trekked off to get the car and move it into one of the spaces left by people who had gone home early. Back in then for a final look around and a visit to the show gardens which is always interesting. There was a party of school children in there at the time, about 7 years old and they were enthralled by a couple of the gardens, one that was very bright and one that was based on Alice in Wonderland. I had a quick look at the classic cars before we started to make our way out. We stopped en route to look round a country craft marquee, which was a mistake as we had a bit of a fright in there.
As we were walking past a stall selling up market shoes and sandals, which I was looking at, I turned in time to see a rather tall man, in I would say his sixties, falling towards me, he appeared to have tripped over the camping stool he was carrying and didn’t seem able to regain his footing, the marquee was carpeted and there was a slight slope which didn’t help. Tony was behind me but I literally jumped sideways as the man fell, in the process he took his wife down with him. It was a good job it was the shoe place as there was no counter for them to hit and they didn’t seem to be hurt as people, in the shoe ‘shop’ helped them to their feet. Frightening thinking afterwards how much worse it could have been with many of the stalls having expensive glassware etc on them. And a good job the crowd had thinned at that point, if he’d fallen on me he would have done some damage.
Anyway, we continued on round and on back to the car and home.
Saturday 8th May We had to go to town to change the trousers that were too tight for Tony. Instead of going to Gloucester we went to Cheltenham. At the same time we went to look for a replacement watch for Tony as the one he uses a lot because it has luminous hands (handy for when we are in hotels etc without a bedside clock), had given up the ghost. Anyway we found a relatively cheap one almost exactly like the one that was broken and only costing £29.99. Changed the trousers after convincing him to try the new ones on, no problem there, and went for a snack lunch in Wetherspoons; where he found he had left his credit card in the watch shop. Phoned them and they said it was there and they’d keep it for him. After lunch we returned to the shop where they produced the card and one of the male assistants (who had not been there before when the watch was bought,) asked him if he had the watch. He replied that yes he had the box. I looked on in amazement as he got the box out and handed it over to be shown that there was no watch in the box. Goodness knows where his brain was, he was so busy chatting to the assistant (male) about various watches that not only did he leave his card in the machine but he’d paid for an empty box. Words (almost) failed me!!!!
We then got the bus home which was late because the driver was late for his shift and therefore full because a long queue had formed at a lot of the stops. The driver then decided to make up lost time on a long straight stretch which was most uncomfortable so not the usual successful laid back shopping day we are used to. And to cap it all, arrived home to a red card in the door, necessitating a drive to the postal depot

Jean so pleased that you got to see Charlie and spend time with him, hope you continue to be able to see him.

Huia that was a nuisance, I hope that you continue to be able to visit us until you get your phone jack and Broadband connection.

Sallie where are you??

Sylvia...... saw you on the Aussie thread so know you are ok.

Mo Hope Roly is ok and BP is ataying down. It is sunny and quite warm here today but with a strong wind that is threatening to blow the Aquilegia and Alliums down. And, as you say, going to turn cold again, of course it is, we go away for four days on Thursday!!!.

Hello all. The computer seems to be behaving itself tonight, so hopefully I can post this.

A week ago I signed up for broadband, and the following day went in to town to pick up the modem. When I got home I connected everything up the way the book said, and waited and waited but nothing happened. Next day I phoned the phone company to tell them it was not working. The woman told me to plug the ethernet cable into the phone jack. I told her that it would not reach the computer if I did that. I have a long extension lead going from the phone jack in the far end of the kitchen into this room where I then have various devices into which my medical alarm and computer etc are plugged. When the woman finally cottoned on to the extension lead, she said it was the problem, it could not cope with broadband. So sometime somebody is going to come and put in a new phone jack in this room. I hope it will be soon as I had to ask my previous dial-up provider to reconnect me. I am wondering if they have beefed up the connection in the hopes that I will stay with them. Anyway, enough for now, keep your fingers crossed that I dont keep getting the error message.

Mo its good to hear that things are on the up for you both, and also that your estranged daughter turned up, shame so much time was wasted, we still struggle with S ,s partner. but as long as we see him and C, we are quite happy.....
