Hello girls, a bit cooler here today, thank goodness. It was 33 here yesterday, and heard from Richard and Christie last night, they told us it was 37 there,but they do live near Heathrow. Like me, they both don't like the hot weather, but Alun, Jennie and Michael love it.

Jean, like Ann, I haven't heard of that new die cutting machine either. I don't use the eBosser at all, I much prefer to use the Grand Calibur.

I have to make two cards for my friend's grandaughter. she will be twelve on the 14th of this month, trouble is, I can't find anything to suit her age, everything is either too old or too babyish.

Hope that they will sort out the conservatory roof for you tomorrow, it's awful to have water coming in, whether it's from a leaking roof or any other way. Also hope. the electrics are okay now

Ann, by the sound of it, you are going to be very busy over the next week, trying to finish the Scrapbook of your cruise, to give your son by the end of next week. I'm sure you will get it done in good time. He will love it.

Mo, hope both you and Roly are okay and coping with the hot weather.

Sylvia, hope all is well with both you and OH and that your arm is healing well.

Thinking of Huia and Marie, and hope all is well with you both.

Well girls, I am ready for a nice cuppa now, so will chat again soon.

Take care.

Love, Sallie. xxx <3 <3

We had a huge storm last night it poured down very heavy too ,we had a problem with all the plugs clicking off J put it back on and it went off right away.....bit of a problem it was well past our bedtime , and we heard dripping water in the conservatory there is a small leak in the corner, this morning we rang the company up and they are coming tomorrow, D got up early and tried the safety switch for the plugs and it stayed on, thank goodness, the time was almost up for the freezer, but it seeems ok now.. we will get our lecky man to have a look , but J rang , and it would appear he is on holiday . so fingers crossed it will stay on until he gets back :-| :-| :-|
I have another lot of cards to go in another hospice shop next week Ann, nothing arrived yet but dont worry I am sure it will turn up, we only have one post each day.

the scrapbook will be nice to show your son, pics will be nice too ;-) ;-) ;-)

Busy busy Sallie, glad you are ok anyway. I am trying to get a scrap book done of the cruise for our son. Need to finish it be end of next week.
Overcast here today and showery although we could do with a good downpour for the garden, as it is it is just damp. still warm but cooler than yesterday when it was 31 in our garden. Loved having the sun though.

Mo hope all goes well for Rolly's op. Always worrying at any age but will be thinking of him

Jean you did well supplying two shops, well done. And yet another machine to play with, haven't seen that one. Still I don't get much use out of the ones I have got so hadn't better buy more.
By the way did you get the stamps, though I'd get a big book rather than a couple of small ones. :-D :-D

Hello Sallie so pleased to see you are o.k :-D :-D once the card making bug gets you time just flies ;-) ;-) I have just bought the little Sapphire cutting machine off C/C ,and have been sorting out all the many smallish dies I have ready for when it arrives, it will be good as I will be able to sit whilst doing leaves and such like, its such a dinky little machine and will be quite useful , I wont need to use the big machines every time....

It seems a while for Aluns date to come but at least it may show its not that over serious..Lets pray that is reason.... athough the waiting is hard...

So sorry to hear about Christies mother, I do hope it can be treated and a good result follows.....

I managed to take two lots of cards to the various hospice shops, all going down nicely , so will do some odd ones now and then , also getting the Christmas cards done, I have a boxful already but will need a lot more...just made a Silver wedding card for our Goddaughter .... cant believe she has been married that long...
our Diamond is due next March :-0 :-0

Mo, hugs for Roly, its a bit daunting whatever age you are when ops are to be done so extra loving care for him and you also.... <3 <3 <3

wiil be thinking about all our friends here and abroad, take care in the heatwave.

love and hugs Jean xxx <3 <3 <3

Sallie Report 1 Jul 2015 02:24

Hello girls,

Sorry not been on here for a while, I have been busy trying to get some special cards done. I have made new baby, sympathy, anniversary, and wedding cards and also making Christmas cards in between the others.

My cousin's funeral is on Thursday which is in S. Wales, but we are not able to go down to it, I'm afraid. My brother and sister in law are going to it, so they will represent us. We are not able to stay overnight and It is too far to go down and back home again in one day, as it would mean Alun having to drive four hundred miles in one day.

Christie's nan was diagnosed with throat cancer on Friday,so Christie has been very upset . Richard told us that she cried over most of the weekend. I felt so helpless, not living near enough to be there for her.

Michael's brother and his partner had a baby girl early hours of Saturday morning, she was six weeks early and weighed only four and a half pounds. I've made the cards, so will have to go and get her a present soon.

Alun still hasn't heard anything about having an angiogram, it's.five weeks since he seen the specialist.

Mo, crossing my fingers that all will go well for Roly on the 10th. My friend Janet is having a lot of pain with her knees and hips, she only has to walk a short distance and she is in agony, she can;t even do the shopping anymore. So don't know how on earth she is going to manage. I know that her doctor told her that eventually she will need to have her hips and knees replaced, but she said that she doesn't want them done.

Jean, hope you managed to get your hair done and deliver your cards as well.

I also seen that programme on New Zealand, it looks a beautiful country.I would love to go there one day, but I think that's as far we will get.

Glad to hear that the conservatory roof is keeping it a lot cooler for you so that it is a lot more comfortable to sit in now. It is too hot here for me,I have the fan on for most of the day.

Sylvia, hope the antibiotics will clear the nasty insect bite that you have on your arm,
It must be very painful and uncomtortable. Thinking about you.

Your holiday that you and OH are planning for the autumn, sounds wonderful, both Alun and myself would love to have a holiday spent travelling on a train. I envy you both.

Ann, the photos of your holiday are lovely. I love the dress you are wearing when you and Tony went for your special meal.

Sending love to Huia and Marie amd hope that you and your families are all well.

I'm off to bed now so will chat again soon.

Take care.

Love and best wishes.Sallie. xxx. <3 <3

Hi

I have my hair pinned up in a very short pony tail :-)

The doctors (I saw both the Resident and his superior) suspect I have Erysipelas, a bacterial infection of the skin, resulting from that mossie bite. I'm on a 7-day course of antibiotic (1 4xday)

The doc marked the outer limits of the redness and rash, and another mark on my lower arm and on the upper arm. If there is no improvement in 48 hours from when I saw him, or the redness has gone past the outside marks ......... I have to go to Emergency to get a stronger antibiotic by intravenous.

I also was told to buy the lowest dose of an over-the-counter histamine usually taken for allergies, and take 1 or 2 every 4-6 hours.

Tomorrow, July 1st, is Canada Day ........ the 148th birthday of the formation of Canada

I do hope Sallie is o.k Jean, perhaps she is enjoying time with her family.
It's not like her not to answer a p.m, so fingers crossed.

Sylvia, I do hope the doctor has sorted out your nasty bite. It's awful when we get a midgey bite, and it wont be eased, but getting a swelling under it after such a time does need investigating.
I am envious of your future journey,personally, I would love one of the train journeys that you both make....green with envy, thats me.

Jean, I had my hair cut again today, and have made an appointment for four weeks time for the next trim up.
I like it done very 4/5 weeks, to keep it in shape, and with it being so hot, it's a lot cooler. Mind you, in the winter, my ears do tend to freeze.

I will say cheerio from a boiling hot day here in Kent, am off to prepare a nice salad for our tea tonight. Hugs Mo xxx

The new roof seems to be working o.k. it was 25 outside and a nice 20 in the conservatory, ..J is sitting in there reading at the moment....bless him.....I had better go and get dressed ready to go out.. see you all soon, I have sent two pms to our Sallie and they havent been opened yet I do hope all is well with them all....

Hi Mo, and everyone

We're sweltering here .............. high 20s for most of last week, and it will be the same this coming week. The nights are the worst. We don't have air conditioning, so fans to the rescue!

Jean .......... you asked about long trips. I have to get to work planning our next trip. We've never seen the Prairies (Saskatchewan, Manitoba) in the autumn, nor the mountains. So we decided we would see about taking the train ........... you know how we love the train :-D

The current plan is to make the trip in early October, when harvesting should still be on. But we haven't decided what esle to do ........ I don't want to got to Toronto and come straight back!

Re chicken sausages .............. we eat turkey sausages that we get from our butcher. I don't know whether he makes them himself or has a supplier. But we buy 8 or 10 frozen ones at a time, we only eat 3 a meal so we always have a supply in the downstairs freezer.

We're so lucky ............. I phoned Dr's office at 10 am with a "can you fit me in this afternoon". The response was that they were very busy but she would see what they could do. She phoned back in about 10 minutes ........ appointment at 1:50 pm this afternoon :-) I've just had a quick lunch so I can be ready when OH arrives in about 30 minutes to take me there.

We have a lot of mossies and other very small biting insects that we call "no see'ums" around here (that's very unusual) .I got a mossie bite on the inside edge of the crease on my elbow about 10 days ago that seemed to be healing as normal, then starting itching again on Wednesday. By yesterday evening, there was a large red patch, some "spotty" areas, and a swelling under the bite.

I had an old tube of Phenergan in the drawer, and that helped last night ............. even though it was way out of date :-( . We can't buy it over here, so I have to buy it in England ..... we were last there in 2008!

But thought it better to get into the docs ............ OH is busy tomorrow so wouldn't be able to take me, Wednesday is Canada Day and a holiday, and Thursday will be the "new residents" first day

Mo ........... I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Roly. xx

Mo in Kent Report 29 Jun 2015 16:46

Oooh Jean, you are being a good girl eating, or should I say, drinking all your fruit and veggies in this way.
I love veg, but am not so enamoured by fruit so much. I know it's good for me, but unless it's really solid, I can't eat it. I know that sounds daft, but if we get nectarines or peaches or conference pears, they have to be so unripe it's unbelievable, but thats how I like to eat them. Maybe not good for the digestion, but at least I eat them that way.
I suppose you could have a chocolate milk shake instead of eating a bar of choc. The same calories I expect though.

Roly has been for his pre operation assessment today, so it's all set to go on the 10th.
For some unknown reason, I was under the impression it was next Monday, not the Friday, so a few more days grace for him.
Bless him, he is not looking forwards to it, but it's a needs must situation.

Whew, it's too darned hot here at the moment, never satisfied that me, I moan when it's cold and moan when it's to hot, a typical Brit.
Hope you are all well, sending best hugs and wishes to Sallie, Ann, Sylvia, Marie and our Huia.
Bye for now, Mo xxx

Morning all, drizzly rain here so far but the weather on the tele is saying we are in for a heatwave :-D :-D :-D :-D Mo your newly potted plants will need umbrellas to keep them from scorching and plenty of watering too, ;-) ;-) ;-) it will be you and Roly that will need to be careful.... drink a lot of water ....which brings me nicely to my new way of getting my five a day ( veg and fruit ) I dont like many vegggies and only certain fruits , so now I have read about healthy ways of getting all the nutrients we need,Smoothies !!! we have a blender never used it although D has made soups, also one of the smaller blender type thingies, so last week I blitzed lots of fruits and had a glassful for lunch ,,,, loved it so each day I have one in place of the usual boring sarnies at lunctime, did the veg one yesterday and it was quite good so I will keep it up , and see if I feel any different, there are loads of recipes all healthy stuff and we know what is going in too ;-) ;-) ;-) ....I wonder if there is a healthy chocolate one :-D :-D :-D...

I wonder how our friends over the water are doing, I saw a bit of a programme of New Zealand Rotorua Island it was so beautiful, Huia you probably know it well...

Thank you Marie for the Psalm, my all time favourite it was nice to read it in a different way l am glad you sent it :-) :-) :-) hope you and all your family are o.k.

~~~~~~~ to Sylvia, same wishes for you and those you love, are you off on any long trips again? ~~~~~~~~
I hope all is well too with our Sallie and family, how is the card making getting on?
Ann, you looked lovely in your photo's. I love the dress you wore for your evening meal with T.
The scenery from the ship is breath taking, the sun rises and sunsets were wonderful.
Well what wonderful weather we are having at the moment.
We have been busy planting our pots in the garden, whew, it was sooo hot out there we had to do it in small doses.
I just hope we don't get any sudden frosts now, to kill the plants off.
Have a lovely weekend girls, take care of yourselves. Hugs to all, Mo xxx
Ooh I had not heard of chicken sausages, but then we don't shop in Asda. Hope you enjoyed the meal Jean.
Sallie, so pleased for you that youa re feeling better and have been 'released from the counselling for a while. Hope you manage to maintain the improvement.
Mo, If you do ever get the opportunity /cash to do a cruise, do one from nearer UK. Ours was from Miami and the travelling really overshadowed the cruise. We left home on the Friday and stayed overnight near Heathrow, the flight was 8 hours to Miami, then we gained five hours of course so were very tired that evening. The cruise was only 6 nights so by the time we were in the swing of it it was time to leave the ship, then we had to hang around Miami international waiting for an evening flight, which got into heathrow at 11am and we lost 5 hours there. So the travelling and concequent jet lag was very tiring. coming home we paid out £540 to upgrade to Premium seats which gave us more comfort and allowed us to sleep but not everyone could afford that. So my advice would be, if you want to do a cruise, do it from Europe. :-D :-D
