Mo in Kent Report 11 Mar 2011 21:08

Oh my god Sylvia, this is such a disaster.
We have been following the devastation on our news. Watching houses fall into the water like they were matchsticks, the boats in the harbour tossed around like flottsom, cars being picked up and thrown around like they were childrens toys.
The earthquake in NZ,was bad enough, but this is terrible.
Stay safe Sylvia, Huia and Marie.

Hi all
xxx

There has possibly been a second unrelated earthquake in Japan, near Nagano. It might be an aftershock from the first one, but it is on a different fault line. I haven't heard how strong it was, possibly about 6

I've also heard on the radio that the coast of Japan has moved about eight FEET

The outer coast of BC is still under a Tsunami advisory.

Victoria and Vancouver are safe, becaaue we are protected by Vancouver Island, but from Alaska to the northern tip of Haida Gwaii (aka Queen Charlotte Islands) south along the outer coast of Vancouver and then down to California is still at risk

Granted, the waves seen so far have been negligible, but later waves can be larger than the first ones to arrive. This is why the original Tsunami warning was downgraded to an advisory, which will remain in effect for several more hours

The first waves to hit Hawaii were:- 3 metre waves hit Kauai, 1 m waves hit Honolulu washing up onto roadways but not reaching hotels, and 2 m waves in Maui. Larger waves could still arrive.

The first waves hit on the Orgeon coast about 90 minutes ago.

One danger not often noted is that the underwater currents become stronger, and more erratic ............... so there is a ban (as much as can be enforced!) on small boats going out to sea.

With Marchlands Mo, maybe I liked it better because I recorded it and watched the first two back to back, so I quickly got the hang of the plot. It was the sort of plot I enjoy too.

**************************************************
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR CAZ.
**************************************************
I hope you have had a good day,to enable you to have enjoyed yourself.
What did you think of the new series of Monroe then Caz. I quite enjoyed it,
all i'm hoping is that it doesn't take a nose dive, and end up like Marchlands did.

As you said Ann, Marchlands was o.k, but getting used to all the different families at first was quite confusing, till you got into the plot.
Enjoy your holiday love.

Well Sallie, that was a surprise, getting your hearing aids so quickly.
Will you have internet connection down at Richards next week.
I hope so, or we will miss you.

We have been to see baby Lilly today. My word she's getting soooo big.
Considering she is only eight weeks old, she looks like a three month old.
I gave her, her bottle, and she fell asleep half way through it again. I am wondering if I bore her to sleep,by chatting away to her at feed times. lol
She then slept all the time we were out shopping in town.

I hope all our friends across the water remain safe, after the earth quake
earlier today.
I know on the news they said that OZ, NZ and a few other countries were on high alert following Japans quake.
Oh lord what is happening to our world, keep us all safe lord.

Take care my friends, speak to you later. Love Mo xxx

Mo, I quite enjoyed Marchlands although felt it jumped around a bit too much, flash backs should be more spaced and longer not lots of short episodes.

Sally glad that you have your aids. Did you find it a bit loud at first? Lol!!! Enjoy your weekend in Wales. And your time with Richard.

Sylvia, poor little MJ colds make them so miserable don't they. Hope he gets better soo.

Caz, Happy birthday. I hope that your back will behave and the pain will ease for your birthday.

Sallie Report 10 Mar 2011 19:46

Hi Girls,

Well I've had my hearing aid, and it's great to be able hear properly again.

I thought that it was only to be a fitting today, so was surprised when I got the hearing aid ......I have to go back in about six weeks time, just to make sure that all is okay.

Caz lovely to hear from you, I just I wish I could wave a magic wand for you and Joyce to make you both well.

I hope your back pain will ease for you so that you are a bit more comfortable, at least.

Lets hope that all has gone well for Chloe, bless her......I'm sure that Joyce is worried sick, with her granddaughter's phone being switched off and not being able to find out how Chloe is.

Ann, just in case I miss you, hope you and T will have a good holiday, also
crossing my fingers that you'll have some good weather.

Alun is off next week, so we are going down to Richard's on Monday, as he's also on holiday from work next week .....it's his 29th birthday on Tuesday, so the four of us are going out for the day and then have a meal out in the evening.

At the end of the week, we are going to Wales to search some records at the Gwent Records Office.......I hope we'll find what we are looking for.lol!

Hope everyone else is alright, speak to you later.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hello girls I am here, I've not been too good with my back, couldn't sit down properly it is so painful even laid down which used to ease it. Joyce hasn't said anything about Chloe, she tried to ring her granddaughter but her phone was switched off, I will be speaking to her on Saturday so will find out for you, unless she rings me tomorrow. Joyce herself is having trouble with cramp in her legs but it's all the time not just at night, otherwise she is OK.
Mo I'm looking foreward to that Monroe tonight, I like James Nesbitt, hope it's as good as it looks.

Oh Sylvia poor little MJ, fancy getting a cold. I blame mum and dad, it can't be little mans fault, bless him.
They wont give him any ant-biotics unless it goes down onto his chest. It just means keeping his temperature down, but it's not fun having a runny nose on your birthday is it.

Sallie, how did it go with your hearing aid fitting. Do they give it to you straight away, or do you need to go back for further fittings.
There has not been any news about Joyces great grandaughter has there.
Unless Caz has put something on her thread and I have missed it.

I want to watch the new series thats starting tonight on ITV at 9p.m, it's called Monroe. James Nesbitt is one of it's stars, and I think he is a good actor.
Sorry to out overseas friends, they won't know what the heck I am talking about.
I just hope it's better than Marchlands, the programme that it's replacing.

Going to do our dinner now girls, speak to you soon. Love Mo xxx

Morning All,

Just a quick look in before I go for a fitting for my hearing aid. It's a lovely dry and sunny day here, hope it's the same where you all are.

Sylvia, a belated Happy 1st Birthday to MJ. Bless him being poorly for his birthday, hope that he and J and M will soon be better.

Mo, I hope that both Caz and Joyce are alright too, as we haven't heard from them for a while.
I wonder if Joyce's grtgranddaughter had her kidney biopsy on Tuesday, and if everything went alright for her.

The doctor said he'd get in touch with me in soon, it seems I have a choice of hospitals I can go too, Derby, Nottingham or Ilkeston, I would prefer to go to either Nottingham or Ilkeston. The doctors practices in Ilkeston tend to use the Nottingham hospitals when they refer patients........we've always used the Nottingham ones, so prefer them.

Right, I'd better start to get ready to go out, so I'll speak to you all later.

Hello girls.
Sallie, have they said how long you will have to wait for your appointment
with the Specialist.
I hope it's not going to be to long a wait for you.
Have you managed to get all your weekly shop done. Our will be bought on Friday, providing we are not in the middle of painting the kitchen.
Now thats going to be interesting, as Roly has put the paint away in the shed at the moment. And I know what normally happens when things get put in the shed, yes, they stay there.

Talking of painting the kitchen, Sylvia, has your OH done yours yet.
Has the snow cleared from Quebec yet.?

I wonder if Caz and Joyce are o.k, as we have not heard from them for a few days.

Today would have been my mums birthday, so I have had a few hours of quiet solitude remembering her.

I hope that all is well with you, and that all of you in the U.K have been enjoying the glorious weather.

I will say goodnight god bless you all. Love and best wishes Mo xxx

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I haven't got back to you before now, but with being poorly last week, I didn't do any cards, so over the last couple of days I've had to try and catch up with making them.

Hope you are all okay. Mo sorry your team lost on Monday, but as you said you didn't hold out much hope of winning. I hope you'll all have better luck next time you play against them.

I'm feeling much better, thank you. Thank you all for your concern and best wishes.
I have to go and see a Specialist about my hearing problems, it's only to confirm what they thing it might be......the audiologist and the doctor think the problem is in the middle ear but the Specialist has to confirm it,

We're off to do the weekly shop now, so I'll pop back later on.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 8 Mar 2011 21:36

Good evening girls.

I am wondering how Sallie got on at the doctors last night, as she hasn't been on here today. I hope she is o.k.

Ann, this fine weather has a lot to answer for hasn't it, making us do our spring cleaning a bit earlier than normal. The windows and nets do tend to look grubby when the sun shines dont they.
But then, you have got both your holidays coming up, and have to fit these things in when you can. Just dont you both go overdoing things, you dont want to be to exhausted to enjoy yourselves.

Oh Sylvia, I had to laugh at your escapade over the passport photograph.
A friend of mine, went to a photography studio with her husband to get his passport photo done.
They filled the forms out, sent them of to the passport office, for them to be sent back again, saying that the background was to light.
The photographers had actually advertised the fact that they did passport photo's,and had sold them as such.
They went back and demanded the photo to be done again.
The poor people of Quebec having to suffer 15inches of snow is snow joke is it.
Mind you, you do get your fair share of it yourselves dont you.

Well, I hate to admit, I was right about the darts last night. We lost 5-1 in the team game, but we won the pairs 2-1. Now how daft is that, if we can beat them in the pairs, why oh why can't we win the sixes. I think we have got it into our brains that they are a better team than us, and the majority of us give up. Oh well never mind.

We have had a glorious day here again today, but it's going to be changing
so the weather forecasters are saying.
Lets just hope we don't get the snow that some folk are talking about.

I will say goodnight god bless you all, speak to you tomorrow.
Love and best wishes Mo xxx

Had a chuckle about the newborn, guess they thought it wasn't worth trying to make a newborn comply.

Hi all

gosh Ann, you were busy this morning!!

It was raining here early this morning, but it has eased off. So I have made an appointment to get my hair cut early this afternoon.

I need a new passport, so OH took me to the photographers yesterday afternoon to get the new photos

uh oh

he wouldn't take the piccies

I was wearing an ivory-coloured sweater, a very pale ivory.

He said "white tops are not allowed. They will only refuse it. It's because we have to use a white or very pale background".

I knew we weren't to wear glasses, not smile or grimace, mouth closed, eyes open, looking to a point about 3' above the camera, not wear head coverings ................... but not about restrictions on colour of clothes.

Came home, checked the regulations and instructions on the application form.

NO mention of any colour restrictions :((

BUT ......... glasses can now be worn so long as the eyes are completely visible

Headgear cannot be worn, unless it is of a religious nature BUT in that case the full face must be visible ........... I guess some religions will still have a problem.

I thought this was good of Passport Canada though ................ Passport Canada is, however, lenient about the expression of a newborn (mouth open or smile).

ah well, will try again another day!

This morning, I was once again reminded why we do not live elsewhere in Canada

75 cm of snow fell in 24 hours on Monday in Sherbrooke, Quebec

That's 15" or so!

and they can blame the US, the storm came up from the south :))))

they usually blame us!!!!

Liz, probably about 20 miles from Gt Tew. Never actually been there but the countryside all round that area is very pretty.

Lovely morning here again. we have actually just cleaned all the windows inside and out so it must be spring. One of the jobs neither of us likes. Also done the household accounts and cleaned the bathroom, got the meal for this evening in the slow cooker and OH has washed both cars. So quite a productive morning. Hairdresser this afternoon.

Huia, my Mum used to make Melting Moments, how do you make yours, I can't remember what recipe Mum used or what they looked like?
I hope you will get some pics of your Green outfit lol
I am sure it will do you good to play at being a Green Femme Fatale for the day - however you dress and behave, have a good time and don't stress about making errors at work, I am sure they will make allowances for you at first.

Ann, you were not so far from my Great Grandmother's birthplace, Gt. Tew. One of these days I will get up there and take a look round. A friend of mine is the daughter of Gordon Russell the furniture designer and there is a Museum at Broadway of his designs, in an old workshop of his.
I never see anything of his on Antiques Roadshow but he made some lovely pieces - my friend has several items her late father designed and made.

Sallie, hope you get on ok at the docs and hope everyone is alright.
I must get to bed in a mo, just got a fright when I heard the noise of a tractor - the farmer is ploughing up his field, just 30 feet or so from the back door at the end of the garden. All the blue tits flew up in alarm and the tractor was followed by flocks of gulls, that are having a great time on the newly ploughed earth. There has been a sharp frost outside, the grass is all silvery and crisp.
Night all lol

Thanks for the advice re green lipstick. I did have my doubts.

For the drink I will just take one of my water bottles (that is my main drink each day) which has a green jacket on it. For nibbles, I have some girl guide biscuits which have a trefoil on them and had thought of icing them green. Or I could make some of my melting moments and put them together with green icing.

I might try painting some clover leaves on the back of my hands or somewhere?

Nobody commented on my flirting with a man!!!
