Sallie Report 31 Mar 2011 21:13

Hi Girls,

Jean, hope you are feeling a bit better, so that you can do some cards. It will be nice when you've been to the hospital and they get your vertigo sorted out.

I'm really sorry to hear that Caz isn't at all well. I will be thinking about her, and praying that she will feel better soon. Sending her lots of hugs and positive thoughts.

Ann, Alun might know someone at the Model Railway Club that have been on the Settle to Carlisle railway, I know quite a few of them have been on railway trips all over the UK, so I'll get him to ask them when he goes next week, and let you know when you get home.

Yesterday, our television area switched over to digital, well the first part , then it switches over completely in two weeks time. We have a couple of more channels that we didn't have before, but there are times when we lose the signal for some of the channels.
We would probably have been better staying with Virgin, but we felt that the amount of TV we watch, didn't warrant the amount we paid out each month for it.

Mo, like you, I'm wondering how things are with both Joyce and Jan. I'm just hoping that they are both getting better, and that Joyce will soon be back on here.

Sylvia, hope you and your family are all alright. Hope that you are now having som lovely spring weather. It was wet and miserable here yesterday, but it is dry and bright today, although a bit blustery.

Huia. hope all is well with you, and that you have managed to get all your washing finished.
Have you been working at the charity shop this week? Sorry, I can't remember which day/s you told us you go in to help.
I hope all was well with Phil when you last visited him.

Thinking about Tess and Marie, and hope you are both okay.

Speak to you all soon. Take care.

Love, Sallie. xxx

Hi there Huia.
Have you got a family member who can drive you, to get the injection that is needed for your finger.
Oh if only we were closer, we could have taken you love.

Have you had moles frozen off before. I have and it's nothing to worry about.
I have also had skin tags cut off before now, without any numbing done to them. The doctor started one side, after an injection, and then discovered I had some on the other side of my neck that needed to come off.
She was going to inject again, and I said not to bother, just cut them off.
Suppose I am lucky that I have a high pain threshold.

I hope you find Phil in good form today love.
Take care Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 31 Mar 2011 20:53

I saw the hand team two days ago, about my 'trigger finger'. The doc was going to give me an injection in it but I asked if I could drive afterwards and he said it would be best not to, so I have to try to find somebody to drive my the 40 km there and back in about 3 weeks. In the meantime they have put a splint on the thumb of my left hand, as it has been sore for many years, ever since I fell over and that hand took the weight.

I am going to see my doc today to ask her a couple of questions, and I am due for my flu jab, and I want some moles frozen off. I hope to visit Phil afterwards.

It is April fools day today! But what I have written above is no joke.

Huia.

Oh lord Jean, poor Caz. She will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for letting us know honey.
I hope you are o.k today as well my love.

Ann, get that suitcase packed, you don't want T going without you. I hope your hair turned out alright as well.

It is nice to see Julia posting again, isn't it. And to know that she is feeling better at the moment.

Has anyone heard from Joyce lately. I hope that both of them are on the mend. And that Jan is getting over his pneumonia.

I hope Sylvia, Marie and our Huia from over the water are all well.

Cooeee Sallie and Tess, I have not forgotten you both.

Bye for now girls, take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

T always says he fancie the Settle to Carlisle railway trip, it is supposed to be very scenic, anyone done that one?

Sunny and very windy here at the moment, just off to get my hair cut. Sort of half packed but keep taking things out and finding things that should be in.

Well another good job done for another week, thank goodness. It's been raining here for most of the day, so there was no chance of drying any washing.

Mo, I'm sure that if I had twelve grandchildren, I would have a job remembering their ages too. lol! Still it would be lovely to have grandchildren, I'm beginning to wonder if I'll have any. the way things are going at the moment . Even if Alun and I are blessed with any, we will probably be too old to enjoy having them..... it would be nice to be able to do things with them while we still can.

My friend's daughter also has this virus that's doing the rounds, and was feeling really poorly today. She went to the doctors about it yesterday, but the doctor told her that although her throat was very inflamed he couldn't give her anything and to just take paracetamol and drink plenty.

So I suppose the same goes for the rest of us.

Tess, no we haven't been on any of the Scottish railways, but I'm sure that given the chance Alun would. I hope your sister and brother-in-law have a good holiday there, looking forward to hearing from you about their train journey when they get home.

Well I have to go now, so I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

For goodness sake Jean, they keep messing around with your appointment date, it will only confuse me even more. LOL
I have changed the date on my calendar, so hopefully I wont forget.

It's better that its a lot nearer you though love. And it is good to hear that the new tablets are helping you. But as you say, you need answers as to why it keeps happening so often.

Tess we had it lovely here for most of the day, but the rain decided to fall mid afternoon.
I just hope it's nice tomorrow, as I have just finished another load of washing, ready to go out in the morning.
I like to try and beat the neighbours, and get the washing out on the line before they do. Yes, I cheat and do it the night before, but if I overlay, they beat me to it. lol !!!

Sallie, I think this blessd virus is doing the rounds again here. Both of us have been sneezing, and have had runny noses today, and now my throat is sore again. Oh please lord don't let us start over again with it.

It's one of my grandaughters birthday on Monday, now how bad is this, I couldn't remember how old she is. I had to ring one of my other daughters, to find out if she is 16 or not. So it was lucky that I bought the numbers, to put on the card, just in case.
Well, dont forget there are 12 grandchildren, I normally remember the birthdays, but cant always remember the ages.

I hope that everyone is o.k, and that those of us who have been poorly lately, start to feel better soon.

Was hoping to sit out in the garden today but it has been raining much of the time.
Had a washing line-post put in the back garden on Monday. It should be ready to take the weight of the washing tomorrow so I am hoping that we get a dry day.

Ann and T have a lovely holiday in Tenerife, looking forward to hearing about it when you get back.

Sorry to hear that poor Joyce and Jan continue to have health problems. I just hope that theirluck turns soon and they both have a really good summer.

Good to here that Julia is now out of hospital and feeling well enough to contact people. Take care of yourself Julia and don't do too much too soon.

Jean, still getting the dreaded vertigo ... it must be really terrible and so incapacitating. People just don't realise how horrible it is till they experience it for themselves.

Sallie, good to see you back here. You too must take it easy. My sis and bro-in-law will be going on the Strathspey Steam Railway in a few days. They are going on holiday in the Cairngorms. Have you and Alun been on that line?

I will try to report back when they return and tell me about it.

Caz, you must look after yourself too. try not to worry about other people so much.

Hi Ladies,

Caz and Ann, thank you both for your concern. I feel better now, thank you.

It's our shopping day today, so I shall be glad when that is done.lol!!

Like you all, we have a ' rec ' here, our chidren use to go to play there when they were older as it is the other side of town. We are lucky that we have a small park at the back of our house with a lot of green area surrounding it, so they mostly played there. The only problem for us about them playing there, was that there is also a canal a bit further along, so they were always warned about not going near it to play.

If we ever sell this house and get a bungalow, I shall miss living here, as it's so nice to look out of the windows at the back and see the park, fields and be able to see part of a small village about a quarter of a mile away
which includes the lovely small church there. I just wish we couuld have a bungalow where this house stands.lolol!!

Caz, how are things with you? I hope that you feeling a bit more comfortable now and are able to do some cards. I'm still waiting for Alun to but photos of some more of mine onto Ann's blog. Although I haven't been on there since posting the first cards.

I hope you've heard from Joyce and that both her and Jan are at least feeling a bit better. I've been wondering how Jan is managing about work, as having had pneumonia myself, I'm sure that he won't be well enough to get there let alone be able to work while he's there.

Also hope that Joyce has got rid of the gout in her foot, poor thing seems to have one thing after another. Just wondering how they are managing to do the shopping, as I know they take Jan's mother with them each week.
Like ours in the UK maybe their supermarkets there do a delivery service when they order on online. At least it would be a big help for them while Jan is too poorly to take them.

Ann, just in case I miss you before you go, I hope that you and T will have a good holiday in Tenerife. Take care the both of you.

The weather is the same here, wet and miserable. It has been great to be able to dry the washing outsaide, I thought that the good weather wouldn't last too long.lol!

I had better get ready to go out now, speak to you all later on.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Glad you are OK Sallie although I also hope that you have not succombed to a throat infection. Yes I too had a PM from Julia, it was lovely to hear that she was OK.

It is chaos here as we try and get the house and garden up to scratch before going away on holiday to Tenerife. And it is raining today so i am back to drying washing indoors.

Hi Caz, you are right we do miss people when theya re normally regualrs on here and then they don't appear.

We used to play 'down the rec' as well, it was a bus ride away in the town so I used to go there from the age of about 11 but it was between the railway line and arches and the creek (sea) so I am sure nowadays it would not be considered safe for 11 year olds.

YorkshireCaz Report 30 Mar 2011 10:51

Oh there you are Sallie, I was wondering where you had got to, we miss people when they don't post for a day or two. Hope you are feeling a bit better now. Seeing mention of the Rec brought back memories of being young in the village I was born in, we used to love going there, the swings were surrounded by a lot of trees and the train tracks on one side. I suppose nowadays it would be considered dangerous as we could go on our own to play there, I would be six or seven then, and I used to wander about the village visiting my gran and aunts by myself, those were the days.
Hello to Sylvia, huia, Ann, Marie and jean, I will be speaking to Joyce soon, although she hasn't rung yet which is unusual, hope she is ok.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't been on here for a few days, I've had another bad cold which once again affected my chest., so I'm hoping it won't turn to a chest infection this time.

I had a pm from Julia today, it was lovely to hear from her again. As you all know she's been in hospital, but she's better now, thank goodness and hopefully will be back on GR next week.

Mo, did you have a darts match last night? If you did, I hope your team won.

Thinking of Caz, Jean and Joyce and hoping that things are a bit better for the all.

Tess, nice to see you posting again, and hope that you are feeling better now.

Hello to Sylvia, Marie, Huia and Ann, hope you are all alright.

I'm going to have a hot drink now so I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

LOL girls, it is the Rec, but to me it is a Wreck.

I certainly do remember the Poll Tax riots Tess.

Did you see on the news of the man who was killed, by a policeman, I think it was two years ago, after another demonstration that was held in London.
The man was pushed to the ground by a policeman, and died later in hospital. He was an innocent person on his way home from work, when he got swept into the fracas.
To be honest, the police are damned if they do, and damned if they don't in
trying to control things.

SylviaInCanada Report 29 Mar 2011 20:00

Hi

Tess ...... our local park used to be called "The Rec" as well, for the same reason as yours.

My home town was Oldham, in Lancashire ..... where there was that rioting back in the 90s.

All that happened within half-a-mile or less from my childhood home, and from where my aunt still lived, the one who I discovered in January had died in 2009.

Hope everyone is well

Huia, I haven't changed the clock on the cooker either. Not because I turn it off at night, just my minor protest at having to change the time. So my cooker clock is set at "real" time all year long.

Mo, I chuckled at your local park (with exercise equipment) is called "The Wreck" there used to be one of those near my in-laws homes ... but it was spelt "The Rec" and was short for Recreation ground. It seems that yours needs re-creating!

I live in an inner-city area, it gets a lot of bad press nationally (even sometimes internationally).
The press are just not interested in reporting the good things that happen.

I saw some news coverage of the yobs hijacking the peaceful protest.
Such a shame that this seems to go on often nowadays, it spoils it for those with a genuine point to put across. Remember the Poll Tax riots? (in the UK) the rioters gor there way that time.

Good evening one and all.
Sorry to have been remiss, and not to have posted yesterday. No excuses from me, I just forgot.

Ann, I just hope and pray that the police are better prepared for the Royal Wedding day, than they were for last Saturday.
There will be thousands of people lining the streets, to watch the celebrations, and the last thing that is needed is the Anarchists, to cause trouble.
It will be a work free day for most people, and the Capital will be full of people of all Nationalities, from all over the world, who are coming just for this occasion.
What is not needed is for trouble to break out, and people to be injured.

Marie, it's good to hear that "Hayward family reunion" is going along nicely.
Just don't you go overdoing things, you want to be well enough to enjoy it.
You are lucky to have Kathleen to do the lawns for you, at least thats one less thing for you to have to worry about. And your knees are not exactly up to doing them just yet,are they.

I hate to tell you, but we lost again at darts last night. We were lying in joint third positition in the league, and in the pairs, but it now looks like we will drop down to fourth. Oh well, we tried.

It looks like Sallie must be busy again, as we have not heard from her in a little while. Lets hope all is o.k with her.

~~~~~~~~~to Sylvia, Huia, Tess, Caz, Joyce. ((((((((HUGS FOR JEAN)))))))
Take care everyone, love to you all. Mo xxx
