Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 3 Apr 2011 18:03

Hello Girls.
I trust all of us who are celebrating mothers day, have had an enjoyable day.
Once again this year, I have been spoilt rotten by my children.
Two bouquets, two boxes of chocolates, a bath variety pack from the Body Shop, and a beautiful book mark.

Sallie and Huia, it's so frustrating not being able to find family members, on these sites.
I still cant find my grandfathers family on my mums side of the family, and my G.G.Grandfather on my dads side.
If only everyone had been born in this country, it would have made things much simpler. But grandmother being born at sea, near Ceylon, and grandad coming over from Belgium, has not helped in my search.
I think grandad must have been Jewish, as during the war he had to report to the police every week. And he altered the spelling of his surname. Oh such a mystery, that I would love to have been able to unravel.

Well girls, take care of yourselves, I will speak to you tomorrow.
Best wishes to one and all. Love Mo xxx
6.05 p.m Sunday evening.

Zack Report 3 Apr 2011 11:30

Hello to you all I hope that you all had a wonderful Mother's Day (we celebrate Mothers Day on the 2nd Sunday in May) We also put our clocks back to-day it is now 8.15 Pm on Sunday night and it is starting to get chilly at night here.
Ann I hope you have a great Holiday.

Jean good luck for your appointment.
You will be pleased to know that my leg is improving each day, hopefully I will be able to get into the garden soon, the weeds are starting to take over.
Sylvia I was watching the weather forcast and it looked as if you were in for some rain I hope it wasn't Snow.

I do hope things get better for Joyce Jan and also Caz they have had such a hard time this year.
Hi Julie, it is good to know you are back as everyone was very worried about you, just take it easy and that goes for me too, as I forget that I am not a spring chicken anymore.
To Sallie,Mo, Liz & Marilyn if you should look in, also Huia , and not forgetting Tess,My love to you all. I must go Marie.

Huia

Huia Report 2 Apr 2011 20:55

Hello all.

We put our clocks back an hour last night, so it is now not quite 8 a.m. I had a very good sleep, the moles arent bothering me, but then I usually sleep on my tummy these days.

I have been busy looking at censuses, trying to follow my gt gt grandparents siblings and their descendents. It is most frustrating when I cant find them, even though I allow for variables in their names. Possibly some of them emigrated. I do check for their deaths.

It is a lovely sunny morning so I think I might go for a walk before the forecast rain comes. I am hoping to lose a little more weight.

Huia.

Sallie Report 2 Apr 2011 20:37

Hi Girls,

Tess, pleased that you have received the correct death certificate at last and were able to update your tree.

We can't find a death for one of Alun's grt. grt. grandfathers, it isn't as though he had one of the common surnames either. but after the 1881 census we can't find any trace of him. So it looks as though we'll have to keep trying and hope that on day we'll find the information we need.

Alun and I had a pleasant afternoon out at the Garden Centre in Little Eaton a place not too far away from where we live. It's a lovely garden centre selling lots of different things including craft stuff, so I was a very happy bunny. lol!! I even managed to buy two Christmas pressies....just got to remember nearer Christmas, that I have them.lol!

I wonder where our Mo is today, maybe she has been taken out for a meal for Mothers Day, by one of her family.

Jean. Caz., Joyce and Jan, I hope that you have all had a better day today. Still thinking about you all and sending lots of positive thoughts and hugs.

Sylvia, glad to hear that you are alright. The trouble with having lovely sunny and bright days, it shows up the jobs that need doing about the house.
I should have stayed in this afternoon and done some, instead of going off to Little Eaton.lol!.

Marie, hope your leg is better, and that you are now able to get out and about.

Huia, hope you feel alright after having your moles burnt off, and that you have been able to get comfortabe when you lie down.

Ann, if you're looking in, hope you and T had a good journey to Tenerife.
Enjoy yourselves and take care.

Bye for now everyone, speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Good evening ladies.

Tess, your haircut sounds nice, really modern. What colour is your hair love. Mine is Grey/Blonde, more Grey than Blonde I must admit.
Like you, I always keep my hair short. I find it much easier to manage that way. No blow drying, or perming for me, not like a few years ago, when I would not go out the door unless my hair was perfect, and my make up was on. These days, it's wash and go for me, and I can't remember the last time I bought make up.
The only time I wear make up, is if we are going to a special do.

Huia, you may be... as you put it, a tough old bird, but it is nice to have someone to rely on in times of need.
I hope you find someone kind enough to help you out. It's pleasing to hear that you had a decent nights sleep though.

Oh my word Sylvia, your experience with the removal of the warts, sounds like it was painful.
I suppose I was lucky, when I had the skin tags, and moles removed, suffering no after affects.

Ladies, I hope everyone has a pleasant mothers day.
Love to you all. Mo xxx

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 2 Apr 2011 16:28

Back from my busy day on Thursday. I had been to a coggege in the city centre where I had my hair cut short (which is what I requested).

I also said that i wanted something a little different, so now have my right ear on display (its shouting to people going by "I'm right 'ear!").

I also have a slanted fringe, i.e. longer on the left side.

Then I went to the Library, it was just not a straightforward transaction, but I did manage to come away with a frre book! (but none of the books I wanted for the greaders group).

Yesterday I was still tired, I received a death cert. in the post, in the morning, for my great,great,great,great-grandmother. (She died in 1842).
So was encouraged to spend some time updating my tree.
Was actually able to find some info on Ancestry, which had been hiding from me previously. This was due in part to some corrections made by some kind, hard-working people.
Thank-you, whoever you are.

Huia, I hope all goes well with your moles.

Sallie, enjoy yourself tomorrow, treat yourself to a little pampering. It wil be lovely, not having a Sunday roast to cook.
I will be on my own too, but like at Christmas, I am quite looking forward to it.

After quite a few years living on my own, my son is back here part-time because of the work situation. He will now be with his own family for a few days, so I have my home to myself again.

It has been nice enough today to sit out in the garden for a while.
I hope the weather is treating you kindly in other parts of the world.

Jean, Cazz, Joyce and Jan, I hope that you all feel a lot better soon.
Will be thinking of you all

Huia

I just re-read back, and realised that you had said "frozen" them off.

Doh!

I was told that things on the back take longer to heal that elsewhere on the body ................. one reason being that the lack of muscle means that there is also a lack of blood supply there.

Don't know how true that is.

So, please hide the back scratcher!!!

For MO and Sallie ................... I'm well, just been a little busy.

Huia Report 2 Apr 2011 05:32

Sylvia, they sprayed the moles with liquid nitrogen, I think it is. It takes about 2 weeks for them to drop off, unless I forget myself and scratch an itch with a back scratcher! No, I dont want to go through what you went through, so I must hide my back scratcher just in case.

Hi all
xxx

I missed saying have a good trip to Ann & T

If you look in ..... I hope you have a safe trip, and a wonderful holiday
xxxx

Huia .............. were those moles cut out or frozen off?

If they were excised, and a stitch or two put in, do please be very careful how you move around.

I had a mole cut out about 3 years ago, 3 stitches in, left in for 2 weeks, and told to be careful that I didn't stretch my back. I was very good ......... but then I reached into the oven the evening after they had been removed. The cut had split open by the time I got into bed (that was apparently the last straw!). There was the most agonizing pain, that left me breathless and breathing very carefully for about 30 minutes before I felt able to make any kind of move, which is when I discovered it was bleeding badly. I had to wake OH to put a dressing on it.

By the time I got into see the doctor early next afternoon, there was a slight infection at the bottom of the excision, they wouldn't stitch it until that healed ................. it took literally weeks to get it clean of infection. I had to go see the doctor once a day for about a week, then it dropped to once a week and OH had to clean it with a special antiseptic and put on special cream, followed by a dressing, at least once a day. By the time the infection had cleared up, the excision had started to heal from the bottom up, and they couldn't stitich it ....... so instead of a small neat scar, I have one that is about twice as wide as it should be.

Fortunately, I'm not into swimsuits or no-back tops!

Apparently your back is very slow to heal because there is not actually much muscle there.

I'd hate to have anyone else go through what I went through ......... especially as you have no-one to help you.

The last day of March was lovely ... sunny and warm

The first day of April was wet and grey!

Take care everyone
xxxx

Huia Report 2 Apr 2011 03:36

Mo, my son lives about 3 hours away in Rotorua and the visit for my jab will be on a Wednesday. My daughter also works and wouldnt be able to take time off. My bro in law lives on North Shore, more than an hour away. I will see if a neighbour can do it, otherwise I will get a taxi. There is also a 'Driving Miss Daisy' service, but I think it has to be pre-booked, and I am not sure when it will be. A friend had some man drive her to Auckland regularly to her specialist so I can ask her about him. The trouble is that I am so out-of -the-way here. I am sure I will be ok. I am a tough old bird.

The moles are ok as long as I dont scratch them. I slept fine last night. I usually sleep on my tummy anyway.

Huia.

Sallie Report 1 Apr 2011 21:25

Huia, pleased that you got to see the doctor and that she has given you some medication, and that the nurse froze some of your moles off. It's a shame they didn't have any flu vaccine left....let's hope that they will have some on Monday.

Hope you'll manage to tidy up before your brother-in-law arrives. I usually find that if the dining room is untidy with my craft stuff about, someone usually calls, but if it's all nice and tidy we don't see anyone at all.lolol!!!
I suppose that's just typical though.

Mo. I don't mind being on my own for mothers day, I'll enjoy getting on with my card making, as I still have some Easter cards to make.
Richard and Christie won't be able to visit me, as it would cost them too much in petrol, and money is a bit tight with them at the moment,

Well Jennie and Michael came for their roast dinner, and enjoyed it as they usually do. Mind you, both Jennie and myself, love a roast dinner, it's our favourite meal.

You are right Mo, we haven't heard from Sylvia for quite a few days...I hope that everything is alright with her and her family.

Hope that Ann and T have a good and safe journey to Tenerife. Not sure if Ann was taking her laptop with her, as I know that she takes it to some places that they go to.

Tess, I hope you've recovered from the busy day you had yesterday. It takes me a day or two to recover if I've had a busy time.

Well, I'll say bye for now, take care everyone.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Ahhh Huia, just a thought, could your Brother in Law take you to the hospital about your finger. Please god that he does not live a million miles away from you, and can help you out.

I hope your back is not to tender after having the moles removed. You want to be able to lie on it tonight when you go to bed.

I forgot to say, I visited Phil after I saw the doc. I tried holding his hand, but he would carry it over to my knee or the table and release it, in other words, 'keep you hand to yourself'.

Huia Report 1 Apr 2011 20:46

Hi there. Yes, I saw the doc. It was a different one as the one I saw last time is on holiday. She prescribed a different nose spray to try to stop the post nasal drip, also some Amoxycillin tabs. The nurse froze off several moles on my back. I still have a lot of others I want done, mainly round my neck and at the front, but will get them done in a fortnight. They were out of the flu vaccine, it goes at as quickly as it comes in, apparently, so I will pop in there on Monday morning to see if they have any more, before I go to the op shop.

Must go and tidy up. Brother in law is coming at lunch time and the table is covered in papers and there are clothes everywhere, which I havent put away since washing and drying them. High time I did.

But ! But !, Sallie it's mothers day on Sunday. Surely you wont be on your own will you love.
Perhaps Richard will pop in and see you.
Mind you, I am not sure if I will see my lot either, as they are all parents themselves, their children like to spoil them as well, bless them all. But no doubt they will show their faces on Saturday instead.

Ann, I am not sure if I have missed you, but have a lovely holiday both of you. Keep us updated if you can, it would be nice to hear from you in Tenerife.
We can all be jealous off your nice weather, especially if it's not so nice here.

Jean, thank you for keeping us informed, re Caz and Joyce.
Bless them both, they have not had a very good time of it lately.
Are you being taken out on Sunday by D for a meal.?
Give my best wishes to both J and D. I hope they are both well.

I was bought a lovely present today, by a good friend. She has got me a bone china mug and coaster, with a picture of William and Kate on them.
They have gone in my china cabinet, in their boxes, for posterity, you never know, in 150 years time, they may become antiques. LOL

Tess, I hope you are not to tired after your exhausting day yesterday.

Sylvia, has been missing for a couple of days, I hope she is o.k.

I wonder if Huia has got in to see her doctor about her moles, lets hope so.

Must go for now girls, got to start doing dinner soon, as it's now 3.55 p.m,
and we are having a chinese curry for our evening meal, and I have to prepare it.

Sallie Report 1 Apr 2011 14:42

Hi Jean,
Sorry that you haven't been sleeping well lately. I know what you mean about being up at silly times during the night......the trouble is it takes a while to get back into a pattern again. At least you haven't got too long now before seeing the ENT Specialist who hpoefully will soon find out what's causing your vertigo.

It's dry here today, so far, but it's dull and cloudy, so I hope it will be nicer tomorrow so that I can get the washing dry.lol!

Thank you to both you and Caz for passing on the message about Joyce and Jan. Glad to hear that Jan is slowly getting over the pneumonia, as we all know it takes a long time to get over it.

Poor Joyce, I just wish I could do something to help her, if she was living nearer I would willingly try and do something for her and Jan....if it was only the shopping, I'm sure it would help.

How is Caz today? I hope she is feeling a bit more comfortable and not in too much pain. Oh dear, I feel so helpless not being able to help our friends on here that are poorly.

Jennie and Michael are coming for a roast dinner today, as Alun is up in Sheffield at a Model Railway Show on Sunday, so we are having our Sunday roast today instead.

Well I'd better make a start on peeling the veg or it won't be ready in time.

Sending lots of positive thoughts and hugs to Jean, Caz, Joyce and Jan.

Speak to you all later on. Take care.

Just spoke to Caz and she asked if i would put an update on Joyce and Jan, Jan is just getting over pneumonia, still not clear but a bit better, Joyce still cant put her foot on the floor and is much the same in other areas, so peeps hold them close in thoughts and prayers,
Sallie, have only done a couple of cards lately, not sleeping well, up at silly times, but because I am old and frail I can have a nap whenever I want ......lol....can I hear a big sigh from you all.....poor thing....no....ah well worth a try, pouring down here and chilly too...just done a bit of shopping hard work , to much turning and searching high shelves, the head doesnt like it.....so hope I dont have to do any more......
love to everyone in equal doses.....

Hi Huia,

Just missed you. I hope you got some satisfactory answers off your doctor to your questions that needed answering. Also that that you had your flue jab and also managed to get your moles frozen off.

Do you think that your daughter might be able to take you to have your injection? Or maybe your son could come and stay a couple of nights and so be able to take you. I hope you'll be able to arrange something soon.
