YorkshireCaz Report 5 Jun 2011 12:08

Mo we live in a sheltered housing building, a block of flats with carpeted corridors all round, it is so well insulated in the roof space and we live on the top floor. The old ladies will insist on putting the radiators on and closing all the windows in the corridors, it makes it much too uncomfortable. Carol the warden went round opening all the windows as wide as she could thinking they wouldn't be able to reach them to close them, but they did.
Sallie we haven't got it working yet but it will be soon and it will get well used believe me, it is 78 already in our room although it is cooler outside. It was drizzling this morning with a bit of a breeze but the sun has come out now and it feels warmer, the leaves on the trees are turning over so it will be raining again soon, as long as it stays cool I don't care.

Hi Everyone
Haven't been on much for a few days as I have had a few dizzy spells. Been to the Dr and diagnosed Labyrinthitis and have tablets to take which are supposed to equal out your balance(like in travel sickness) well they seem to be helping, though I still feel a little spaced out?

Have a lovely Sunday everyone and so pleased that Jeff is improving each day

Hello Jean, I have just added to the thread.

Hello everybody else. I went to visit my sister and her OH over on North Shore this morning. After lunch I visited Phil on my way back. He was awake but not talking to me or smiling and chuckling as he did last time. Still, he wasnt asleep, so I cant expect everything, can I.

Hi Ladies,

I'm very late looking in tonight....Alun and I have been over to keep Jennie company this evening because Michael has gone to a party that they were both invited to,but Jennie couldn't go as she hasn't been too good over the last few days....the usual problem again.

Betty, welcome to Mo's thread, it's nice to have you join us. All the ladies on here are lovely, always ready with their support and help whenever it's needed. Pleased that our help and support helped to cheer you up and made you feel better.

Mo, I think someone must have sent some of your cooler weather up to Derbyshire, as it's much cooler here today than it's been for a few days....in fact we also have some light rain tonight, You are clever going on Facebook, I haven't a clue how to do that.lol!!!

Caz, it's just typical that the weather has got a good bit cooler now that you have bought the air-conditioning unit. Never mind, I'm sure we'll have some more hot weather soon so that you can use it. I hope so anyway.

Jean, hope Jeff's condition is continuing to improve. Still sending love and positive thoughts to you all.

Joyce, I hope that your problem with GR will soon be sorted and that you will be back on here very soon. If you are looking in, I hope you are feeling a bit better after your fall today. Rest and take care!

~~~~~~to Sylvia, Ann, Tess, Marie and Huia. I'll speak to you tomorrow.
Hello to Liz, Jude and Linda if you are looking in.
Well ladies, I'll say goodnight to you all, as I'm ready for bed now.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Followed someones advice on another (Spanish Eyes) Thread. and clicked on the arrow at the top of the page. This reverses the order of the pages on the thread, so it took me to the last (this) page.
So have been able to read what is going on.
I remember being worried about my first mammogram, at the time my balance was terrible, I tended to stagger when walking, or sway when still. Just couldn't control it.
Was worried that I would move too much for the mammogram to work.
That is till I got clamped! No chance of any movement then! I had't stood so still for months.
I am still having trouble getting on the boards here, it has been driving me mad. GR say it is all my fault (well they would wouldn't they)
A quietish day today. But have done some ironing. haven't put it all away yet though.
Will be looking at the blogs in the next few days.
Have been working on my family tree. Found a few more details of the 1911 Census on Ancestry.
Having my eyes tested on Monday, I am rather short sighted and have an outward squint in both eyes.
Might do a little bit of work in the garden tomorrow, but don't want to overdo things.
Very hot on Friday and warm today.
Welcome Betty, it's so nice to hear from you. Please come back and speak to us all again, as you can see, we are a friendly bunch of ladies, and love to keep up with each others news,and support each other whenever the need arises.
Jean,Joyce, Caz and Liz are very dear to us all.
The news we have had about Jeff,has cheered me up no-end. My prayers for both Jean and Jeff continue as strongly as ever.
Caz, I am pleased that I no longer need to have the mammograms done. It comes to something when they tell you, you are past the age for having them done, there was me still feeling like a spring chicken till they told me that. Still mentally 21 dont you know, age and bodily, ahem, a lot older.
Marie, I would love to be able to go to Zumba classes, but I'm afraid I would be cream crackered before the first dance had finished. Am I right in thinking it's excercise and dance combined.
They were advertising a D.V.D on our t.v for it, and would love to buy it, and give it a go, but don't think I would like to make a fool of myself doing it in front of others, in case I flaked out on the floor whilst doing it. Puff puff, see i'm exhausted thinking about it.
Ann, Huia and Caz are not the only ones who wouldn't know how to add to a blog, this site and facebook are about all I can manage. And the only reason I am on facebook is because my grandaughter did it for me. I wouldn't have had a clue otherwise.
Caz, how come you are getting such high temperatures, it's been quite chilly here for days now. I'll send some breeze up to you, if you send some warmth down to me. ;-)
Sallie, I am very much like you, I don't like to sit out in the suns rays for to long. It was different years ago, when I did field work, I had to be out in it then. But as I have got older, I have become more aware of the problems it causes.
I hate it when I hear youngsters say they are going on the sunbeds, to get a tan before their holidays. They dont realise what damage they are doing to themslves.
Joyce honey, I hope you are feeling a little better now. You must take care of yourself, and stop injuring yourself so often. I don't know what we are going to do with you, I really don't.
Well my friends I am of to my bed now, so I will say goodnight god bless you all. Love to you all, Mo xxx
Hi all
xx
it's a lovely sunny warm day today!
It really feels as if summer might be here ........... after the second coldest April and May on record (also the wettest!).
Caz ................... I think I'm older than you, over 70, but they won't ever let me go. I'll have to continue having the squish until I am completely unable to get to the clinic and stand up at the machine!
I'm still not completely in the clear ............... the radiologist still has to do the full determination to make sure there is nothing there. If I don't get a phone call from the clinic by Wednesday, then I will really breathe easy! I have an appointment at my family doctor on June 23 to get the result.
I know I have one cyst that they have been watching since about 2006 ...........and I think this is why they wanted me to hang around for a little longer on Thursday. To check that against the older files, and to see whether they needed to re-take an xray to make it clearer.
I can tell you that the worst squish I've ever had done was when they called me back in 2008 to re-check that cyst. They were 97% sure that it was a cyst, but wanted to be at least 99% certain, as there was something slightly different from the previous year's xray.
It's just behind the nipple, and they therefore only squished about 2-3" instead of the whole.
and they took about 6
I was bruised for days after
'nuff!!
I was going to go downtown this afternoon and do a little shopping ............... but then I realised it was the Stanley Cup Final.
This is ice hockey, and Vancovuer's team is in the finals for the first time in its 40 year history.
Think FA Cup Final, or European Cup Final, or possibly even World Cup of Soccer, only played as best of 7 games
think of 2 teams, one not having won at all in 40 years, the other not having won the Cup for 38 years.
It's bedlam!
The other team is from Boston. They play 2 games here, 2 games in Boston, 1 game here, 1 game in Boston, and finally the last game here (if needed).
The city has closed a couple of downtown streets, huge screen tvs have been installed outside, and crowds will start collecting by about 1 pm (start time is 5 pm) to watch outside in the sun!.
Crowds actually watch games in the last round outside in the rain!
Needless to say, I did not go downtown! One of the street closures and tv was exactly where I wanted to go!
Hello everyone,
i hope that i am writing this on the right thread. Dutch (Joyce) said to reply on Mo,s Thread.
I would firstly like to apologize for not thanking everyone that sent their thoughts and very best to me.
I have never added to this thread before, so just as a starting point for me i will tell you all that one of the nicest things in life for me are flowers and when i feel down the one thing that gives me a lift is flowers.
I am glad to see that Jeans husband Jeff is on the way to recovery again.
Y/Caz great to hear that you are keeping well.
Liz (Purple) miss your tales of how your garden is this year.
Hi Sallie it isn't set up yet but would you know it the weather has turned cool, bliss. I never sat out in the sun because I didn't like it, nor the heat, but I am thankful now because I have hardly any wrinkles and at nearer 70 than 60 I'm pleased I never sat out. I couldn't have stood another day like yesterday, at 85 it was much too hot and I ended up feeling ill at teatime.
Marie, I have heard of Zumba dancing but what exactly is it?
Huia I thought you would be able to add comments to my blog because you have a blog of your own. I think I had to register on your blog before I could add though. Jean has no trouble adding on my blog and she doesn't have one of her own. Maybe if you can see how to register you will be able to add. :-)
I bet the enlarged photo is great in situ, interesting for people.
Morning Everyone,
Just a quick look in to see how you all are.
Marie, you have been very busy, you must be shattered. I'm not sure if you've already told us, but what is Zumba class? Sorry to act a bit thick!
Call it old age.
Caz, read on your thread for Jeff, that Phil went out this morning and bought an air conditioning unit for you. I'm sure you will love it, as I know I would. As I've got older, I hate the really cold weather, which I never minded when I was younger, but I've never liked and still don't like it too hot. It makes me feel ill, so have never been one to sit out and sunbathe, With me being fair skinned I've always looked for the shade to sit in while out on a sunny day.
I think that over the years some people , just because they loved to sit in ithe sun have thought that I was a miserable old so and so.lol!!
Well, girls I'll speak to you all later on. Take care.
Love, Sallie.xxx
Hello to you all,
It is wet and cold here now, it wasn't to bad this morning so I managed to get some washing done, I cleaned out my cupboard in the laundry I don't expect it to stay that way for long, it never does.I then went out and cleaned out my shed it was in a mess, got that done and looking good.
I also did some weeding in the garden & planted some more bulbs.
I finished up at 4 pm just as it started raining, went inside and had a warm shower got dressed dried my hair.
Drove over to Barbara's to baby sit the girl's so Barbara could go to her Zumba class.
Huia I'm glad you couldn't add either, I don't feel so daft now. I'm not very good with computers, just what I know how to do like my photos. I'm very surprised at the size of the orchid, didn't know they grew so small but I bet it is lovely.
Sylvia I am cringing at the thought of the mammogram, I don't have them now I am over a certain age but they always hurt me with being a bit big up top, hope your results come back ok.
Caz, your comment isnt on my blog, but Ann's is, also Jean's. I tried to add a comment to Ann's but like you I couldnt seem to add it, so join the 'no comment' club!
Ann, I love the photo that dad took of the ferry. You can just about see every drop of water. I had an enlargement done for the owner of tearooms by the bridge which replaced the ferry, as he said that everybody spoke of the ferry but nobody had photos of it. I think his camera was probably a folding Kodak, but as I was only 3 at the time I couldnt say for sure.
The orchid you admire is probably no bigger than my thumbnail but it is certainly pretty in the close-up. Phil took the photo about 20 yrs ago. I love taking close-ups of things. I can get to within 1cm of them with my digital camera.
Jean, thank you for your comments on my site. I am glad you are taking time out from your worries to look at it.
It is a long weekend for us here in NZ as we celebrate the Queens birthday on Monday. The weather is wet and windy, so I will not be going anywhere as there are enough accidents on the roads at the best of times in holiday weekends, although if the weather isnt too bad tomorrow (Sunday) I might visit my sister, and possibly visit Phil on Monday morning, but Friday afternoon and Saturday morning the traffic is usually heavy as people head off for the long weekend, and Monday afternoon it is heavy again as they head home. I prefer to keep out of it, after all I dont need to add to the crowds.
Huia.
