Marie, If you go into your account it should tell you when you are due to renew.

Zack Report 10 Jun 2011 08:29

Hello All, I am not sure when my fee's are due,,I usually pay by credit card and it is automatic,I will need to go back through my bank statement's.
It is still extremely cold here in OZ.

We had a good music session today I had 2 new member's and later a man rang me up and asked if he could also come to the group, actually I wasn't that keen, but I felt I couldn't say no to him, he may feel a bit overwhelmed with all these women, and decide not to come back.

My Family are all sick, Abbey and Emily are ok but Barbara ,Kathleen and Sebastian all have the flu , then today Tracie rang and said she and Jaimen also had the flue. I think I will stay away from all of them.

I must say Bye Bye as I have some sewing to do I am putting some new cover's on 2 very large cushions for a lounge.
Stay well , Love to Cas, Joyce, Jean, Linda, Sallie ,Sylvia, Ann. Jude, Liz, Huia and last but not least MO <3 :-)

Sylvia, that is awful. I hope they dont try it on me, unless the Aussie dollar rate is much lower (or should that be higher?) than the Kiwi dollar. You will hear me screaming from here if they try any silly business with me. I am not due to renew until December, so I hope they get things sorted before then, back to the way it was.

Hi all
xxx

I was unable to post for one whole day ...... I've been having a subscription "debate" with GR since last Friday.

Long story short ........ they decided to charge my credit card in US dollars for my renewal. No idea what that was in £ (didn't tell me), but it did mean that I would be paying extra when US $ were translated to Can $ by credit card company. Objected. Much to and fro'ing of emails.

Was reduced to Free Member when GR refunded my cc. Have had to re-join at the much higher "newbie" rate. Now waiting for GR to refund my cc with the difference between that and the rate they quoted me in an email on May 22!

Anyway ...... you didn't get rid of me :-D

It has proved to be a lesson for all overseas members ..... and I'm trying to make sure a) that people know about it, and b) that GR changes its current policy.

They seem to have decided that overseas members should not be charged in £ sterling, but in the currency of the country. However, they do not have all currencies available, so if your country is not among them, then you get charged in the currency of the nearest country that is included.

Hence, I was charged in US $.

Now there are several aspects to this

a) GR's currency exchange is probably set for a month or more at a time, and makes no allowance for daily or weekly ups and downs. Credit card companies, on the other hand, use the rate of the moment.

b) the credit card company translates the "wrong" currency into your currency, and this usually means that the amount in currency one (£ sterling) is much lower than it finally becomes in currency 3 (Can $).

We worked out that the rate in US $ that they charged to my credit card was close to $2 higher than what the daily rate for that day was, and also made the £ sterling amount higher that I was expecting!

c) I actually have no idea how much I was being charged in £ because they didn't tell me.

d) I was given no choice.

Anyway, I got the hump ................. and complained. Their eventual solution was to do what I've said above. The only way it could be solved at the moment is for my country of residence to be changed to UK!

But I suggested that they look into allowing people the choice to pay either in £ sterling or currency of country. They say that is being discussed

Huia, and Marie .................... you might want to double check BEFORE paying your sub in future and sort it out beforehand!

anyway, I am busy trying to catch up with what I missed yesterday ........ I could read everything, but not post. I could send pms to people with whom I had previously exchanged pms, but couldn't initiate one to let others know what was happening!

Sallie Report 9 Jun 2011 22:17

Hello Ladies,

I haven't been able to get on GR today until now, so sorry I'm late.

I spoke to Joyce earlier on, she doesn't sound at all good. She went to the doctors this morning and she has pneumonia, he has given her pnicillin, so I hope that over the next few days she will start to improve. Jan is off for a few days now for the Bank Holiday, so will be at home with Joyce.

Huia, sorry to hear that Phil wasn't as good today as he was on your last visit, but as you say at least he was awake and talking.

Did you manage to find the information you were looking for, at the library? I hope you did.

Tess, I bet your son really enjoyed the roast dinner after working hard in the garden. The garden always looks lovely when it's done....it would save such a lot of work if could stay like that.lol!!
As far as I know, Alun hasn't got any visit's planned to Steam Train Museums.....but I bet he wishes he had.

Hope you can find some glasses frames tomorrow, that you like.....sometimes, not an easy job.

Mo. glad to hear that you enjoyed your meal out with the family. last night, but sorry that the service wasn't very good. Hope your granddaughter enjoyed her birthday.

Did you manage to take some photos of the babies?

Marie, thanks for asking about Jennie. She's been to the doctors today, and has been given two lots of antibiotics, so hopefully, she will start to feel better in a few days.
I hope you and your family are all okay.

Ann, is it this weekend that you go away? I hope that you get some good weather,

Jean, hope Jeff is continuing to improve. Still sending positive thoughts and prayers to you all.

Linda, I hope your dziziness will soon be a lot better and that all is well with all your family.

Caz, I hope you are feeling a bit better after your fall yesterday. Take care.

I think I read on one of the threads, that Sylvia is having trouble with her GR membership. I hope it will be sorted soon.

~~~~~~to Jude, Liz and Betty.
Goodnight everyone.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
wow, had a lot to read then, needed to catch up. Hope you are feeling better today Caz and have managed to stay on your feet.
Marie Hope you don't need an new exhaust, maybe it is only one part. Yes the service is expensive but I have to say I have had the car three years nearly and not had to pay out a lot so far. Although given that it is the car we just potter around town in and I don't frive it much it covered very few miles last year, and we have another car for longer trips, we ought to think about whether we need to keep it. Trouble is T's car is too big and powerful for me to drive if I should need to any time. i.e. if he hurt his leg or was ill etc.
Mo How did the darts go this week, have you said and I missed it?
Tess, no rush for you to get on the blog, it isn't going anywhere.
Huia glad Phil was awake even if not as alert as last week.
Jude, I love liver and bacon (and onions!). T is playing in a golf match at Coleford today so i ahve had the day to myself. Walked round to a friend who lost her usband in April this morning for coffee, then have been getting things ready for our trip to the Lake District. Can't move in the spare room at the moment!
Linda, sorry to hear you are still having a problem with giddiness. You need to ask Jean what the exercises are. Hope it is better soon. If you are worried about your BP does your pharmacy (Have you got a Boots near you) do BP tests? Ours does.
Jean hope Jeff is maintaining progress, still thinking of him.
Sallie, where are you? Not popped in today. :-) :-) :-)
Evening all
Sorry not been on much as I would like, but have been having problems withg gidiness. Tablets do seem to be helping, but then I spend half the evening asleep, think I am subconciously worried about lying down at night in case it starts up again.
Drs. rang to cancel the BP checks tomorrow, the nurse is ill !!!! Wanted to put it off for 2 weeks til I pointed out I have another check to be done a week Friday, so that meant the second check would be done before the first, if you get the gist !! So now I go Monday morning early and again Friday lunchtime, oh and I see the dietician on Tuesday mid morning too. Maybe I need a season ticket.
The weather has been a real April showers day here. Too cool and not very nice at all.
Have a nice evening everyone
caz, please take care of yourself, it is so easy to loose your balance when you look up and more so if you raise you hand up too.
I have learnt through experience to 1) hold on to something stable with the other hand.
Brace myself against something, so that I am not relying on just my feet/legs to keep me upright! Can look a bit strange if I am outside!
I went for my eye test on Monday, everything went ok but couldn't make up my mind which frames I wanted.
My sister will go with me tomorrow to help me decide.
Haven't mowed the lawn this week, but wait for it ....... my son did!
The grass had grown quite long, so he mowed it two days running, to give it a good finish. He has also used shears to cut all the edges. So lawn looks really good.
I was going to come here on the boards yesterday, but had low(ish) energy. So to be nice to my son, I used my time and energy to cook a roast dinner. So now we are both in a good mood.
Dutch, I hope that you feel better soon and are able to get back to Genes.
Marie, well done on getting to the gym. I haven't been for ages. But quite enjoyit when I do manage to get there. Recently I have put on a few pounds, so should be balancing my intake and activity levels a bit better. Have been trying to walk a bit more in the hope that this will help.
It is so good to hear the Jeff is doing so well. Hope that Jean is taking the opportunity to relax.
Sylvia, enjoy your visit to see your daughter and family. have you got any advice on how to sharpen your elbows? I reckon that sharpe elbows could come me jolly useful at times.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ to Mo (how are the darts coming along?), Sallie (is Alun going to any exciting steam things in the next few weeks), Betty (good to "see" a new face.). Ann (will look at your blog soon, I promise) Huia it is so good to get news from NZ. also Liz (take care of yourself) Jude and Linda.
Good morning girls, when you get on here.
I went to the library in town today and did a bit of research for a member of GR, then looked around some shops and had lunch, then went to visit Phil. Not quite as good as last week, but at least he was awake and talking a bit.
I have had my dinner and washed the dishes, so can relax now before bed.
Glad you enjoyed your meal Mo. But bad service is really annoying isn't it.
the thing is the car passed its MOT no problem, it was the service and fixing the door that was expensive.
Oh my word I didn't realise that this darned site had posted twice earlier.
Sorry Ann, I didn't mean for it to sound like I was shouting. LOL
Good grief Ann, that was in a way an expensive MOT. Ours is due next month, and I am dreading it.
We always take it to our local F*rd dealership, and every time they tell us the brakes need doing. Well my son in law is a mechanic, and he always checks the car afterwards, and nine out of ten times there is plenty of meat left on the pads, and they don't need doing.
It's even worse when a woman takes a car in for it's MOT, they seem to think they can get away with blue murder.
Well we had a lovely meal, there were 15 of us there, thats including the two babies.
The only thing wrong was that the service was atrocious. We waited sooo long for the main meal, and then I had to go and search for the waitress to order desserts.
Well they never got a tip this time, thats for certain. Every other time we have been to this restuarant, we have had good service, but not tonight.
I only had Gammon Steak, new potato's and peas, couldn't be bothered with a dessert though, I was to full up.
I will say good night god bless,speak to you all tomorrow. Love Mo xxx
AnninGlos
AnninGlos Report 8 Jun 2011 17:59
Expensive day for me today. Car went for its MOT (My car). MOT woas free because I had it serviced. Then I had a door fixed which wasn't working on the central locking - £91 for the solenoid plus labour £150 altogether. total with full service oil change etc £365.
We always go to the same garage and they are pretty genuine but the bit that always gets me is "screen wash 50p"
And then there is the £50 VAT on top which makes it up to the £365.
Sallie I didn't go I had a bad fall in the bathroom so Philip had to ring and cancel it, I was all ready to set off and had just brushed my teeth so whether it was reaching up to put my brush back that knocked me off balance I don't know. I hurt my hip badly so had to spend the day in bed, got a lovely bruise.
It must be such a relief Jean for you all.(((((((((HUGS))))))))))
How did Debra's exams go, do you know. How does she think it went.?
We are on our way out very shortly, going for a meal with the family, for our grandaughters birthday.
Both of our babies will be there tonight, so I am hoping to get someone to take a photo, of myself with them both.
I will then forward it on to you.
Caz, I hope that things went o.k for you today.
Poor Joyce is still suffering I see, bless her, it's about time something turned out right for her.
Sallie, I have been very lazy, and not started on the scarves yet. It's been a bit to hot and sticky to do them.
Sylvia, it's sods law, that if the day starts out bad in the morning, that it will turn nice by the afternoon.
It's typical for us all, going out wrapped up in the morning, only to be sweating and swearing by dinner time. lol
Joyce rang me this afternoon, she's still in bed and sounds awful, she's not feeling very good at all. She has an appointment with the doctor tomorrow, so let us hope that he can give her something to take for it.
Jan, is also poorly, but has struggled into work, when he should be at home.
Speak to you all soon.
