Huia Report 14 Jul 2011 10:24

Good morning to you all when you come on here.

I went to town today and got my new upgraded (more expensive) hearing aids. When I got home I phoned my sister, but didnt have much luck with the aids. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but took the one out on the ear I use on the phone and it was a bit better. Maybe if I try the old obsolete one when I use the phone it might be better. At least it wouldnt be able to switch settings while I am using it, but I will persevere with these ones first. I need to see how they go with hearing people in the shop.

Huia.

Good to hear from you Jean, Take it easy won't you. I have a hand rail on both sides of my staircase and I find that it helps to be able to hold one with both hands.

Mo, your poor OH hope that he managed to get a plaster on all by himself. I bet the rose bushes look good I hope that they flourish in their new pots in your garden.

I found some new potatoes in my fridge that had shoots growing out of them.. So I dug a few holes in my garden and planted them. Didn't relly have a clue what I was doing eg how deep to plant them how widely space or which way up! So will just have to wait to see what, if anything, happens.

Trouble is, I will probably have forgotten about them in a few weeks. So won't know what they are if anything does sprout up!

It is my bedtime,
so goodnight everyone,

Tess

Good grief Sallie, was you sitting up waiting for Huia and Marie to log on,in the early hours this morning. lol

We went to the garden centre this afternoon. We wanted two more rose bushes, for the back garden. I chose two beauties, and one had a lovely rose in full bloom. The perfume was heavenly.
When we got home, Roly was trying to take the bushes out of the car, when he caught his finger on one of the thorns.
Because he is on 75mg Dispersible Aspirin,to thin his blood, he bled all over the show.
He had to sort himself out, as I am not good where blood is concerned, and had I had to deal with it, he would have had to pick me up from the floor.
The bushes are now planted in their pots, and looking lovely I must say.

Well girls, I hope you are all o.k.

No news from Jean for a while, so fingers crossed that both Jean and Jeff are well, and coping, (((((((((((((HUGS FOR YOU BOTH)))))))))))))))

Love to you all. Mo xxx

Just a quick look in before I go to bed. I've been busy making cards most of the day, so haven't had time to get on here until now.

Mo, sorry that your team lost last night, as it was so hot there it must have been difficult to concentrate on the game. Let's hope that you'll have better luck next week.

Joyce, it's nice to see you back on here again, let's hope that you won't have anymore trouble with GR I will be thinking of both Jan and you tomorrow.

Tess, thank you for your belated birthday wishes. I'm glad that you and your friends enjoyed your lunch out and " We will rock you", as you say it's nice to treat ourselves sometimes.

Well, it's my bedtime now, so I'll say goodnight and will speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Tess.
Well done on giving yourself a treat and going to see " We will rock you".
It's good to let your hair down occasionally, and shake your booty.
The trouble with me now is, when I shake my booty, it doesn't know when to stop, and carries on wobbling for ages afterwards.
My daughter in law went to see "Take That" twice last week. I think she's got more money than sense at times. Why watch the same thing so soon after the first time. Perhaps it's just me not being a fan.
My friend saw Neil Diamond in concert last Saturday night, she said it was a really great night, with everybody dancing in the aisles.
I like to go to see the old time groups, when they are appearing locally to us, I can relate to the music and understand the words that are being sung.
Night god bless everyone. Love Mo xxx

Sorry you lost Mo, but the fresh air must have been good.

Hope all goes well with Jan, Dutch and that you start feeling better too. Good to see you back on the boards.
I hope that you manage to get your Scottish query sorted out, sorry I am unable to help.

Sallie, I missed your birthday, hope that it all went well. it is good to have a little treat now and then.

I treated myself last week, went to see *We Will Rock You" at a Theatre in Birmingham. It was really good, went with two friends from school. We were able to clap, stamp our feet and sing along at times. We had also been for lunch at a Chinese Buffet Restaurant nearby.

Ann, my nre camera is a Traveler XS 4000 Digital Camera with 14.Megapixel.
It has also got Video function and Face and Smile detection.
I really MUST read the instructions. But have managed to take some photos of my Aunt's 101 birthday.

Oooooh Sallie, the three of us lost in the first round last night, boo hoo.
It was so unbearably hot in the venue, we were actually not upset that we lost, just to be able to get out in the fresh air.
Mind you, today has been awful. Very over cast, and it's now raining.

I'm sorry I also can't help you Joyce, I am not a brilliant at researching myself.
Will you be o.k tomorrow, when Jan goes in for his lump removal. Is it just a quick day surgery job, or does he have to stop in overnight.

Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Hi Dutch,

No sorry I can't help you, If you put up a thread on Find Ancestors, maybe one of the GR members living in Scotland will be able to. As you know there are quite a few members on here that are really good at family history research. Good luck with finding the information you need.

Just want to say good luck to Jan for tomorrow, hope all will go well with the op to remove the lump from his neck. Will be thinking about both Jan and you. Take care,

Mo, how did your darts match go last night? Hope your team won.

Hope everyone is OK. I have a few things to do now, so will speak to you all later on.

Huia the site is doing silly things at the moment. They were doing 'essential mainteneance' earlier but not sure if that is still what is causing it.

Since the last time I had the tubes on my aids changed the left one is pressing on my ear and it is quite painful. I sometimes take it out for an hour or so if I am at home.

Huia

Huia Report 11 Jul 2011 21:26

Grrrr GR. I submitted a post and got the error message so hit the back button, but didnt hit submit again as I have done in the past, and finished up with 2 postings. This time it has vanished.

MO, I wondered why I woke at about 1 a.m. The older aids are ok at present, but one of them presses on my ear and hurts, so I do not tuck them behind the ear as I should, except when I go out.

I realised when I went to bed last night that the tv person probably thought I was rude. When he was looking at the hat I asked him 'your head isnt too big for it is it?' What I meant was that most of them are a small size, at least that is what I found when I tried them, but I have a big head with all the brains stuffed in it. Perhaps I should write him a letter of explanation and apology.

Huia hanging her head in shame.

Helloooooo girls.
Cor what a mess ouside our house at the moment. The waterboard are renewing the pipes, and putting boxes in for the change over to water meters NEXT year.
They have dug up most of our drive, leaving us just enough room to get on and off the drive, ( very nice of them I must say ) especially as we received no notification, that they were coming round to do the work.
I wouldn't mind, but they started work two roads away three weeks ago, and they are still in the middle of doing that as well as ours.
So the way things are progressing, we will still be in this state of disrepair at christmas.

It looks like you have all been busy, what with the gardening, and photography you have all been up to.

Huiaaaaaaaa can you hear me honey. Are the obsolete hearing aids better than the new ones they supplied you with. Sometimes the older the things are, the better they seem to work.
Sooooo you have been up close and personal with a t.v star then have you.
Would we know who he is, or is he just an NZ star.

Fingers crossed for me at darts tonight girls please. I wont expect you to cross your legs, just in case of accidents.
I will let you know how we get on tomorrow.

Take care everyone, it's good to hear from you all,and to catch up on all the news.
Loveto you all Mo xxx

Hello Ladies,

Ann, I received your card this morning, thank you ,it's cute and pretty.

As you say I wouldn't have thought that the hospital would have given us any information about Julia, either. So maybe because she had been discharged the day before, it was safe to give Chris that information.

When you have a spare minute, please could you pm me your card making and craft blog. I don't know what I did to have lost it.lol! Thanks.

Caz, lovely to see you on here. I 'wrote' a long message to you all one day last week, I'd almost finished it , when for whatever reason it just disappeared. It's so annoying when that happens.

Is Phil able to drive now? Sorry I cant remember how long you told us that he isn't allowed to drive. I bet you are really looking forward to going to the Range.......as you say it's so easy to spend more than we intended to.lol!

I bought some Christmas stuff there last week, I only went for some paper and came away with a lot of Christmas stuff as well.

My memory is not that good either.lol! I have to think really hard to remember everyone on here.

Huia, hope you can manage alright with your hearing aids until you get your new ones.

Isn't it nice to see a TV personality face to face. Where Richard lives, it isn't too far away from where a lot of celebrities live, as it's quite close to Pinewood Studios, so when we go down there we often see one of them walking about the shops, going about their daily business.

It certainly makes your day when you someone famous, I bet you are still feeling thrilled because he's bought something in the hospice shop and that you served him. Great!.

Mo, where are you? I hope you are not having trouble getting on here again. We miss you, as you are the life and soul of the thread.

Hope you and your team win at darts tonight. Crossing my fingers for you all.

Well ladies I must get on with a few jobs, or Alun will be home before I get them done.lol!

Speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi girls, sorry I haven't been on here for a few days, not been too good. At the moment I have sciatica down my good leg so walk in a comical fashion,(worse than usual).
Sallie I started a message the other day to reply about doing cards but it wooshed off on it's own. I haven't started on my Christmas ones yet but will have to get cracking with them, I need to go to the Range first for supplies and stock up on other things. Only trouble with that place is I see things and think oh I have to have that and it costs a fortune. I had better look to see what I have left over from last year first.
Huia I bet it made your day when the TV personality came into your shop, I wonder if you will see him on TV wearing it?
Hello to everyone else, my memory is terrible and getting worse so can't remember everyones names like Sallie can.

Hi all,
sorry didn't get on here yesterday, I was out in the garden most of the time 'pottering' while himself did the heavy jobs. I have put more photos of the garden on the photo blog if anyone is interested.

Huia, that is not a bad wait for aids, sometimes here it can be longer than that.

Tess What camera have you got? If it is a digital SLR it will work the same way as a non digital except you wont have to load film. You will probably have to download the accompanying CD if there is one to be able to upload the photos. Just switch it on and take a photo to start.

Sallie, Hi, Yes, a pity none of us thought of contacting the hospital, although I would not have thought they would have told anyone anything who was not a relative. I hope Julia is able to come back on here soon.

Joyce, thanks for news of Betty and Deanna. And well done for spotting Julia's thread. Wonder why she deleted it.

Mo, Marie and anyone else (wonder where Debbie is these days?) <3 <3 <3

I am back. The new aids wont be ready for about 3 weeks so I am making do with the old 'obsolete' ones.

In the hospice shop I sold a knitted woollen hat to a tv personality. Quite exciting! Now we are wondering if we will see him wearing it when he is on tv. Not that I watch much tv anyway.

Hi Eveyone, sorry I haven't been around for ages. Had some trouble getting on GR (esp the message boards) for a few days. Then could get on, but very slow. Just seem to have lost track of time.
Have been a little down, but nothing really to complain about. Now feeling a good bit better.
Didn't realise that it was so long since I posted. Have just spent ages catching up on all your posts. Far too many of them for me to comment on them at the moment.

Sallie, sorry if you have been worried about me. I am doing ok and will try to come on here more often. I hope that Jemnnie continues to improve.

Ladies with cameras.... My son persuaded me to buy a digital camera a few weeks ago (on special offer). Still have no idea how to work it. Will really have to knuckle down and take the bull by the horns.. Now, where did I put it???

I used to have an SLR camera, but it got too heavy to cart around. Then got a compact one, okay for snaps.

Sylvia, I read about the break in at the cabin. I wonder if they had just run out as you got there? Terrible that they felt able to take what they wanted. But it seems bad too that they left the door open. Just about anything could have got in and damaged everything inside.
I hope that everything goes well on the 29th, will be thinking of you.

it's nearly tomorrow, so good-night,

Tess
