Hi girls just to say hello again, well what a day with the wind, and it's getting worse, a bit frightening really. Jean and Jeff are ok and she hasn't got the vertigo Mo, I think she is just busy trying to get on with her cards, you know how it is when you start one, you just carry on. She has done some beautiful cards, I don't know where she gets her ideas from. Joyce is the same doing a lot of cards but she is having trouble with her legs being bad, the nurse has to go and bandage them every day.
I worry about Sallie, I know she is not very well at the moment and I'm looking forward to seeing her back on here.

Hi Betty lovely to see you on here, I miss you when you're not here, Joyce tells me you are getting on ok, that's good to know. Better watch your doggies, we don't want them flying over here in the high wind, lol.

Love Caz xx

Mo in Kent Report 12 Sep 2011 17:49

Good evening girls, how are we all tonight.
It's so nice to hear from you Betty, I hope you have able to withstand the gale force winds.
Poor little dogs, I bet the winds have frightened the life out of them.
I also hope there was no accidents, pee wee wise I mean. Bless them, it's not like they can cross their legs and hold it in is it. lol

How did it go at the Hospice shop Huia. Were you very busy, and do you get lots of customers coming in, looking for bargains.
My lord, I didn't realise that West of Auckland had suffered again, with the Tornado and lightening. Our news over here seems to pick and chose what news they want to show.

I hope our Sallie is o.k, I do miss hearing from her.
Likewise our Jean, I hope that both herself and Jeff are well, it's not like her not to have been popping in very often, I just hope that the blessed Vertigo has not been playing her up again.(((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))
Sending love to Joyce, as she has not been spotted for a while.

I must go and get a bath now, as I have got darts tonight.
Bye for now my friends, love to you all, Mo xxx

Huia Report 11 Sep 2011 23:21

Hello Betty, havent seen you for a while.

There was a tornado and lightning in Avondale, on the west side of Auckland yesterday just after lunch. Luckily there dont appear to have been any injuries, just tiles lifted and tree branches fallen and fences toppled.

I am off soon to the hospice shop so must get a move on.

Huia.

Hi everyone, just on for a minute. Have not been the best for the past few weeks, but am feeling much better now. Hospital admitted mistakes so much relieved about that.
Sallie will write to-morrow.
Hope Liz is enjoying her holiday.
Ycaz hope that you are feeling well, also Mo.
We are expecting winds of 130 miles per hour to-night. Dogs brought in for the night.
Talk to-morrow again.

Batton down the hatches Caz, we dont want to lose you. I hope all our friends who live in the way of the gale force winds, manage to cope, and stay safe.
As long as it doesn't blow the roof off of the house, and you stay inside you should be o.k Caz.
According to the forecast we are going to miss the worst of it, thank the lord.
Love and best wishes to you all, Mo xxx

Hi girls I am also just popping in to say hello, Mo I hope you feel better soon, and you Sallie if you are looking in.
The wind has been wild here today and they say we will have gales of up to 80mph tomorrow. I hate the wind ever since I was coming home from a night dancing in my teens, I got to the top of our road, a hill and the wind took me off my feet straight down someones garden. Luckily my dad was coming to meet me because of the wind so got me home safe, wouldn't dare go out in it nowadays.

Sylvia I meant to say I couldn't cope with the heat over there, I am glad it is cooling down a bit here

I will be back as soon as possible, all my love and best wishes to you all.

Hi all

Huia ............. I'm fine, didn't feel a thing, although many people in and around Vancouver did! It all depends on where you were, and on the type of soil.

People living in highrises seem to have felt it the most!!

I think our friends that we were with last weekend did feel it!

For the others .................. a 6.4 magnitude 'quake hit just off the west coast of central Vancouver Island about 4 hours ago. Little or no damage reported.

still having lovely sunny weather, although it is a little too hot for me at 27/28C in mid-afternoon!

hope you are all well.

Sally ........ hope you feel better soon. xxxxx

I do like this new Lady Dentist she is very good.

The term has finished but they want to keep coming each week , which I dont mind as I will be away for 3 fridays of the next term.

Huia ,I had lost a week and this week I dont know what happened to Wednesday,I guess I was so tired it just slipped away
The hair dresser called me yesterday and I had to ask her twice what day it was she kept saying to-morrow is Thursday and I insisted that it was Tuesday, no she said it's Wensday's.

Hi all
xxx

Marie .............. so sorry to hear about your cousin. I hope she makes it to the family reunion.

I'm having a "slob day", relaxing after a busy but very enjoyable time away!

We got back late yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) after a great trip "overseas"! The weather was gorgeous, which meant that the ferry trip each way was almost unbelievable ...... bright sun glinting off the waves, blue skies, and clear views of the mountains on both the mainland and the Island as we travelled up the Strait of Georgia between them.

We had a great time .... good food, good friends, and lots of talk. R&J invited us to go to them for Christmas, so that is arranged

We went out for lunch to other friends twice, ................. one served cold sockeye salmon as a salad lunch. SHE had caught the fish (a large one) by herself about a week ago. Delicious!

The second lunch was also salmon .......... this time Salmon Wellington, wrapped in filo pastry. But he'd bought the fish from a fishmonger ..... and it was not sockeye

As you may gather, it is salmon season here!

Having had a very late start to the summer ....... not until July! ............... we are now having glorious weather, with daytime temperatures 25C and up, the kind we normally get in August. BUT the nights are cool, like they usually are in September, so it is easy to sleep!

I do find the daytime temperatures a little too warm ............ but, hey, at this time of year, it's better than rain!

OH was going to go into the Botanical Garden early today ....... but we woke up to the news that there was a forest fire on the university campus, right next to the Garden

The fire was on the side of the road across from the campus, on the VERY steep, forested slope down to the river. They have had to bring in a helicopter to help fight it.

The Garden was never seriously in danger ............... but their parking areas are being used as staging areas for the fire fighters, including landing for the helicopter.

As a result, the Welcome Back Salmon Barbecue for the Volunteer group, due to start at 11:00 am, was cancelled!

BUT the salmon was not wasted ....... the Garden staff bbq'd it for the fire fighters

The fire started in a cavity in a big tree down near the bottom of the slope, near the beach, and was probably human caused .............. the beach there is part of Vancouver's notorious Wreck Beach, very much a clothing optional area :-0 :-D

It could have been a young person, a student, or one of the people who regularly sleep out down there.

We have been associated with the uni for over 40 years, and cannot remember a forest fire so close to campus buildings .......... literally just across a 2-lane road. The campus is surrounded by forests, but other small fires have been much further away, and there was never even a mention of possible evacuation ........ there was this morning, but it was mainly because of the amount of smoke.

Marie, I make it more than 12 sleeps to the 27th. Back to school for you, girl. Today is only the 7th, that is 20 days away, or do you not plan to sleep every night?

I visited Phil after lunch. He was alert. The people further along were playing housie but he was just looking at a book. After I left there I went to the botanic gardens at Manurewa and photographed a few native plants, plus a wood pigeon. I think I now know how to do the super macro on this camera. I really should read the instructions for everything, but they are on the computer and not easy to read. I took some photos out of our dining room window this morning and I am sure it zoomed more than 20x. It said 80x on the screen, and some of the photos are certainly larger than others, but it is only supposed to zoom 20x. I must ask somebody about that.

Hello to all my friend's, It has been awhile.
Good new's I have completed the Large Family Tree also the Name tags all done& dusted , thank goodness I can relax a bit now, there are only 2 weeks and 2 day;s to the reunion I have had 62 replies a lot more than I expected.

I will be flying to Mackay on Tuesday the 27 th.Twelve more sleep's.

I had a tooth accident last week I bit down on a piece of sugarless dark Chocolate and snapped a tooth right off.
I am off to the dentist to-morrow Thursday to have root canal treatment, it will be 6 weeks before the steel post and the top that goes on the post is done they will then put a crown on it .
It will cost a King's ransom, and the worst is that I have to go to the reunion with a gap in my mouth.
So no loud laughter for Marie I will have to be very petite and controlled at the function's no big smiles ,which will be hard to do, especially after a couple of wines.

We had some bad news a week ago my cousin Ann Martin, who is the same age as me has Cancer, and is in very bad shape.
We are all praying that she will be able to come to the reunion, as she has been looking forward to the occasion
Her family has rallied around and will all be there to support her, she has said we must not be sad.
She has completed all her arrangment's , her Will, and her Tax and the statement that say's she is not to be resusitated.

Ann wants us to enjoy the 2 days with all our rellies.

It will be the first time we will all be together for many many Years so girls please say a prayer that she will be able to get to the reunion.

They were to drain the fluid from her lungs yesterday I hope it all went well.
I must go as it is becoming very cold.

Love & Hug's to everyone <3
Marie :-D

I didnt get out of bed until just after 8 this morning. Here it is 2 hours later and all I have done is have breakfast and play on here. I will be going to town to post a large (A4) letter as I dont have the stamps, whatever they cost. Then I will go to visit Phil, probably. I am not so keen on visiting him while this world cup is on as the motorway traffic could be quite thick, but I suppose I have all the time in the world. I just hope the other drivers are careful.

I'll talk to you Huia, your photos are lovely, I love the birds, that was one of the things I snapped most often being a birdwatcher. It is absolutely teeming down and we have a gale blowing, I was up most of the night with the pain and all I could hear was the rain on the windows and the trees blowing about. It seems to have calmed down for a while but it will be back.
I hope you are enjoying your holiday Ann, I'd love a week away but I can't even manage a day away now.
Dutch told me that Sallie is having trouble with her internet supplier so that's why she is not on, we miss you Sallie, if you can read this, get back here soon as you can.
Mo I hope your cold goes soon, nothing worse than a summer cold.
Take care everyone.
