Hello :)
Yes I am still engraving. I'm now an Associate Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers and I have work in 4 galleries. So it sounds good even if there aren't many people buying luxury items at the moment.

I'm full of plans to get back into doing my family history and intend to pop in here much more often. It was good to see familiar faces and I hope to chat more.

Hello folks
I haven't been on this site for a very long time. For a while I had problems logging on and then I had a spell of feeling down after my husband died, However tonight I've been back for a little while and wading through loads of not so hot matches.
Nice to see some names I recognise from ages ago.

Just a quick look in before I get ready for bed as we have an early start tomorrow.

Caz, it's lovely to hear from you as we miss you when you aren't able to post. Hope you are feeling better than you've been lately.

It's been a wet and miserable day here. I went to Derby for a few things that I needed to get but I didn't stay there very long, I was glad to get home out of the rain.

Well I'll say goodnight to you all now. Speak to you soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi girls, I haven't been on for a while but I'm still around. It has been a typical November day here, dark and foggy, can't see the moors over the valley for the first time this year, winter is on it's way.
The nurse came this afternoon to give me my flu jab, woke me from a lovely sleep, I don't sleep much during the night with pain so like an afternoon nap.
Anyone know when Marie will be back?
Sylvia glad you are getting back on your feet now, won't be long before you are back to your normal routine.
Huia I hope you enjoy your trip to Dunedin and that your speech will go ok, you will have to tell us all about it when you come back.

Love Caz x

Just thought I'd keep this thread nudged up for Mo. Not sure if her and Roly are due home today or tomorrow.

Alun and I are off to London tomorrow to visit Richard and Christie, so I'm hoping we'll get some dry weather for the journey......I hate travelling on the motorway in the rain.

Going to make some more cards now, but I might look in again later.

Hope everyone is OK.

Speak soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Well, the missing form arrived today. There are 2 postmarks on the envelope, the first for the 19th, and the other for the 26th (yesterday). It was sent by fast post!!! I hate to think how long it would have taken by ordinary mail. My speech at the conference will probably be about the terrible mail 'service' we get these days.

Huia Report 26 Oct 2011 20:26

Hi girls.

On Tues night I looked at my emails. There was one from our party leader asking me to assure her that I had sent my signed consent form to John as he had to courier them on Wed. to Wellington. As I had not received the form to sign I immediately panicked, so I took a half sleeping pill (it was bedtime) and went to bed. In the morning (yesterday was Wed.) I phoned John in Matamata to ask if he had any spare forms. He did, so as soon as I had finished breakfast and dressed I took off for Matamata, which is about 90 mins or so south of here. I signed the form then headed back up to Mangere to visit Phil, and then to Papakura to get a part put in the vehicle, which they had to order in from the previous day when they were doing a service and warrant of fitness on it.

Altogether a big day with travelling of about 300km, but at least it is all done now. Tomorrow I will be flying down to Dunedin for the weekend for a conference so must get busy packing and sorting out a speech I have to make.

Huia.

Sylvia, I'm so pleased to know that you are doing so well with the physio, you are doing really well.

Hope OH's back will soon be a lot better after his physio, his fall could have been a lot worse. Take care the both of you.

Hi Jean, they can't leave anything at our back door because our side gate is padlocked. For about 10 years we had a regulare postman who used to leave things with neighbours but he retired a year ago and since then we have different postmen all the time, some very young and gormless. they never try to leave with a neighbour. We also used to have one whpo would leave in our recycling crate when we had them but we have wheelie bins now so they can't do that any more. Never mind the flowers are lovely, they had a good drink and look very fresh and smell lovely. I shall enjoy the chocs as well.
Glad they soon got your wall done, that is a relief for you.

No T has not found the golf caddy. He has blocked it now so whoever thinks they have a bargain hasn't.

Sylvia pleased to hear that you are doing well with the physio, you are obviously working on it. Pleased to hear also that your OH was not more seriously hurt.

JustJean Report 26 Oct 2011 16:32

You are very welcome Ann, I am so pleased they finally arrived, I sent them on Sat but knew it would be at least two days for you get them,
I was just about to ring the company and see if they had been sent, I always send Carnations , they are the only long lasting flowers in my home, so everyone else gets the same....lol... its a pity they couldn have been left at your back door thats where mine are left if we are not in... still alls well that ends well.
The builder was excellent with the work in the lounge and there was very little dust and he cleaned up after he had done, what is needed now is to have the room decorated, but no hurry....I sat in my craft room all the time and made lots of cards, also tried some new ones too....
btw did T manage to find the item he lost on the golf course? I do hope he has....

Sylvia, you sound to be doing very well, I hope your OH is soon on the mend, I know mucles are very sore when stretched, time will heal it though... take care...
love Jean xx

Jean thank you so much for the lovely flowers and chocs, you really didn't need to do that but I do appreciate the thought.

They had been languishing at the mail collection centre for a couple of days. We were expecting a parcel of replacement inks for the computer and the postie left a red card a couple of days ago to say that a packet was too big for the letter box. We didn't bother to rush and pick it up because we didn't need them urgently. When we got there there were two packets one of which was the flowers. I do wish that he'd have used his common sense and said something like 'perishable' (no, he probably couldn't spell that he's young and a bit on the dense side), but he could have put 'flowers' as it is on the box what is inside.

Anyway, thankfully they are fine and having a long drink at the moment, they are not packed with anything to keep them damp so they must have been really fresh when packed so full marks to them. And the carnations actually smell of cloves so, real carnations. Many thanks again. <3 <3 <3

Hi all
xxx

we are having some lovely weather here ............... cool but sunny in the daytime, and cool at night. As a result, some of the trees are showing great colour ............ not something that we get very often here because it is usually warm and wet :-)

I had 2 physio appointments today ............ the first with my regular physio, first time since I had the oepration. He was quite pleased (and so was I!) with how well my back was.

The second appointment was with the "breast health" physio who is helping me get mobility and strength back in my arm.

She was also so pleased with my success that she said we could manage with only one appointment next week and the following week. So I was able to cancel 2 of the pre-booked appointments. I still have to go this coming Saturday.

OH is also now visiting the physio clinic ............. he managed to fall from the 3rd step of a pruning ladder on Thursday while trying to pick quince (to make quince jelly). He landed on his back, and hummed and hawed all weekend as to whether he should go to the doctor or physio. Finally decided on Monday morning that he would go see a physio. It seems that he has managed to stretch some of the muscles in his back, but not done any really serious damage.

take care everyone

Jean I've just had a look at your Cards on Ann's blog , as always they are lovely. I can't post any comments on there so thought I'd let you know on here.
Have the builders started the work yet? It will be nice when it's all done.

Sylvia, hope everything is OK with you. I can't remember when you said you have your check up with the surgeon that did your operation.

Marie, not sure if you are home from the family reunion yet. It seems ages since we last heard from you.

Huia, hope all is well with you and that your hearing aids are now working as they should.

Tess, hope all is going well with the plastering work you are having done.

Caz, how are things with you? Hope you are feeling a bit brighter.

I hope Mo and Roly are enjoying their holiday in Blackpool and that the weather is at least dry for them.

Speak to you all soon.

Managed to make 10 cards this afternoon. Jean your latest are on the blog. Sorry didn't do it yesterday I got involved in other things and didn't go back to it.

Hope Mo has a safe journey, it is a long way for them to go,

jean hope all goes smoothly with the wall, don't envy you though.

Sallie Report 24 Oct 2011 10:00

Hi Jean,

I don't envy you having to have the wall under the window rebuilt, besides the cost of it, it's the thought of the mess and the cleaning up of it. Anyway good luck with it and hope that it won't be as bad as you think it will be.

I expect Mo and Roly are on their way to Blackpool by now, hope they have
a good journey.

Well I'm going to do the ironing now and then make a few cards, by which time Alun will be home from work as he finishes early today.

Speak to you all later on.
