Mo, well done on winning last night. I love putting the decs up, even though we will be on our own we will still decorate and have lots of lights, have even bought some new ones.

Sallie yes I think Shaun got onto the blogs ok.

Mo in Kent Report 18 Nov 2011 20:54

Hi Sallie,
Yes love we won last night. Thank goodness our captain had a tight hold on the game, as we were playing the boozy team.
They were not to bad last night, just very very loud, and thats saying something, especially as we are not a particulary quiet team ourselves, but we could not even hear ourselves think, let alone play properly.
But Joan is the league secretary, and she got them moving. Other teams have complained about them in the past, as they take so long on the games, and tend to make the evening into an all nighter almost.
Some teams have not got away from the venue till past midnight, but we were away by 11p.m.

Tomorrow we are going to see our sons three children. There is so much excitement in their house, knowing that it is nearly Christmas.
My sons OH wanted to put the decorations up already, as she has bought new ones.
Ours are years old, and they come out every year, with just a few new ones added. But we only really put them up for the grandchildren, they are only dust collectors.

Linda I hope that mum is settling in better now. When my Mum went into the care home, she refused to go down to the lounge, and as she put it she didn't want to mix,"with the old folk" she was in her 80's herself. lol

I hope all our good friends are all feeling better today.

Night night god bless you. Love Mo xxx

Hello Ladies.

Well I went to Derby and got the usual things....I had hoped to get one or two more Christmas presents, but what I wanted to buy I either couldn't get the right size or the colour and the other things I thought to buy, had sold out. I should have got them when I seen them and not dithered about if they were the right thing or not.

Alun is out tonight, he's gone to look at some films of steam trains with his mates from the club. Boys and their toys.lol!!

Mo. if you are looking in, did your team win last night?

Ann did Shaun on the Wales thread manage to get onto your blog? I know from reading his thread that he couldn't get onto it.

Thinking of Sylvia, Caz, Joyce, Linda,Huia, Marie, Jude, Betty, Jean
and Tess and anyone I might have forgotten.Hope you are all alright.

I'll say bye for now, speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Linda, my cards are very basic I assure you. And I am sure people appreciate the effort you put in especially, as this year, when you have other things going on in your life.

Sallie

Sallie Report 18 Nov 2011 10:18

Ann, I just don't know where the time is going. It doesn't seem like a year since we were preparing for last Christmas. I have to get the presents wrapped for Alun's sister and brother-in-law by the time they come and visit us next week, because I'm not sure that we'll see them again before Christmas....I still have one more present to get for them....and haven't a clue what to get.

I'm going to Derby later on this morning. I thought that it would be better for me to go and get what we need today instead of tomorrow. The trouble is when we go to Derby early on Saturday morning as we usually do, I don't always feeling like doing much when we get home.lol!!

Linda, after Alun's mother and my two uncles died we had a lot of photos from the three houses and only a few of them had anything written on the back of them. We had to throw quite a few photos away because Alun's sister, my brother and ourselves didn't have a clue who the people in the photos were.

I think years ago the older members of the family knew who they were on the photo so didn't think there was any need to write the names on the back. I wish they had thought about the younger generation.lolol!!

It sounds as though you have a busy weekend, hope it all goes well.

I'm going to get ready to go to Derby now so will speak to you all later on. Have a good day everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 17 Nov 2011 23:29

Good evening everyone
Or should I say have a good night as I have just seen what the time is !!!
I have been looking through old photos of my Dad's and seeing what ones I can share with some cousins. I am custodian of them now, my siblings aren't too interested at the moment. But I will need to get rid of the many flower pictures and those of people and places that I don't know. Mum seldom wrote info on the backs. There are many albums that only my parents knew where and when they were taken.
This evening I have managed to type my Christmas letter and added some photos as well this year. Quite an achievement, under the cicumstances. But I now have about 100 cards to write. Not all have the letter thank goodness. I have made about 30 cards this year, much more basic than our creative friends here I'm afraid.
Have a good weekend my friends. I might be up to my neck in cards and stamps.

Hi Girls,

I'm late tonight, been busy doing the calendar, I've only just got to put 2012 on each page and then it's finished. It's the first I've made a calendar, so hope my brother likes it.

Caz, lovely to hear from you, as Ann said we would never forget you.
Glad to hear that you like your hair....I'm pleased to know that there is someone like me, it's always hit and miss when I go to the hairdressers on whether I like it or not. Still, like Sylvia said, we all feel better when our hair is clean and tidy.

Thanks for letting us know about Jean, hope she'll be back with us very soon.

Sylvia, thanks for the extra information, I thought that all overseas mail now went by air. So much for my knowledge.lolol!!

Mo, glad to hear that Roly is better, I know how poorly he must have felt because of Jennie having had a kidney infection when she 10 she was really poorly, bless her.

Hope the other team remained sober enough to play tonight, it's a wonder they are able throw the darts straight if they are all heavy drinkers.lol!

Ann, I feel envious that you are so organised, I still have to write all my cards and of course wrap the presents that I have bought so far. I'm hoping that I can do most of it over the weekend.

As soon as Alun takes the photos of the calendar pages I'll send them on to you.

Jude, thanks for the link from your friends daughter, I'm sure it will be of help to quite a few people.

Well ladies, I'll say goodnight to you all now, will speak to you all tomorrow.Take care.

Love and best wishes, Sallie.xxx

Caz As if we could forget you. But we do like to see your ok so like to see you on here. I am sure that your hair looks lovely and you obviously feel better for it.

Mo, Hope the darts went ok and the drinking was after the match and not before or they wouldn't have been able to see the board.

Sylvia, thanks for that, I did realise but it is true the post office don't say I always send mine early to get them out of the way.

All cards written and stamped, just the ones that need letters in to finish off now. And I had made too many cards so will have some ready for next year :-D :-D

Hi all

Joyce .... so sorry ot hear that you have so mnay problems.

Caz ........ you like having your hair done because it makes you feel a little better when your hair is clean and neat.

I know I definitely did for the first 3 weeks after my op, when my hairdresser was washing and blow drying it for me.

Just one point re the UK posting dates

The dates for posting are for seamail

...................... we get most of our cards from England by the first week in December, because people have obeyed those dates.

BUT Royal Mail sends them airmail :-D

The earliest we've received a card was around the 10 November ......... which was just after when I think RM issued the posting guidelines that year :-D :-D :-D

We do not have seamail, or any cheaper rate, over here ................. so we tend to ignore posting dates! We're going to pay the same in November as we will on December 20!

Take care everyone

Hi girls just a short message so you don't forget me, lol. Joyce sorry about your legs but there is nothing else you can do is there, I will ring you on Sat. I had my hairdresser this morning and she has done a very good job, sometimes it is not to my liking but this morning it's lovely, don't know why I'm bothered as I don't go out much.
Jeans computer is being sorted out but she will be back with us soon.
Ann the last posting dates will come in very handy, thanks for that. I haven't even started on making my cards, must make a start soon.

Hope everyone is keeping well.

Good evening all.
Oh Joyce, I am sorry to hear of your bad news. Why do these things always come in waves, and swamp us with sorrow.
Stay strong love, for both yourself and Jan.

Ann thanks very much for finding the posting dates for us. I am sure it will come in very handy for those of us who have friends and family across the sea.

Sallie, yes my friend I do have darts tonight. Apparantly the team who we are playing tonight, are real heavy drinkers. This should prove interesting, for I am a non drinker, but quite a few of our team do enjoy a tipple, but they are saying that the opposition tonight are worse than them. lol ;-)
I should take my camera with me, to capture all the escapades, but I am always wary of my bag being stolen whilst I am playing, so I dont think I will bother.
Roly seems a lot better thank you. At least this time the surgery have not rung to say that the urine sample showed the kidney infection, so god willing it will have cleared up.

Jude thank you for the Link, it will be a help to some of out friends.
I hope your hair turned out as you wanted it to.

Must go now girls, take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Hi Ann thanks for putting all the ' last posting' dates on here, I must start to write my cards so that I can get them sent. The trouble is I'm either busy making the cards and calendar and then out trying to buy Christmas presents I don't seem to have time to write the cards. I just don't know where the time is going.

Dutch, good to hear from you, as you know we all love to see all our friends on here.
I'm really sorry to hear about Jan's cousin. Is there any treatment that they can give him that would get rid of the cancer or at least extend his life and make him more comfortable?

It sounds as though there isn't much more that they can do for Jan's aunt, lets hope that she can be kept as comfortable as possible and that she doesn't linger and suffer too long.

How is your card making going? Hope you are managing to make at least a few cards, even though you are in a quite a bit of pain.

I wonder where Jean is...I expect she's still busy making her cards.
Hope all is well with her, Jeff and Debra.

Oh I'd forgotten, it maybe be that she is off line for a few days until all their computer system is sorted.

Mo, are you out playing in a darts match tonight? Good kuck, hope you and your team will have a good win. Keeping my fingers crossed for you all.

How are things with Roly and the kidney infection he had? I hope it has all cleared up for him by now.

Ooooh it looks as though it's brightening up here, blue sky starting to come out...it was very grey, dark and cloudy earlier on, so let's hope it stays bright now.

I'm going to make myself a cuppa now, so will pop in again later on.

Love, Sallie.xxx

There you go posting dates.

Sallie the calendar sounds nice so I look forward to seeing a few pages on the blog.

Dutch your family does seem to be having a bad time with illnesses doesn't it. Don't worry about letting it all out on here, it must be difficult not having anyone there to talk to and we are here to listen. Sorry you are still in pain, wish they could do something for that. <3
