How very sad Betty, we are seeing more and more of this aren't we. He was obviously very determined so I hope he now rests in Peace. His brother tried.

Mo I hope you find both your granddaughter's boyfriend and your friend in good spirits. I wish them both well.

Yes 2011 was not the best year for us, I hope 2012 will be better. We are waiting for Thursday now (I got it wrong originally, thought it was the 3rd) to hear the results of our daughter's tests so all fingers and toes crossed please. :-)

Hellooooo girls, I bet you thought I had done a dissappearing act, but oh no, like the proverbial bad penny, I am bad.lol ;-)

Oh Betty, how sad that someone so young, can feel the need to end their life. May you rest in peace now young man.
I bet his mum is now regretting her harsh words.

Well girls thank goodness 2011 is now over, and heres hoping that 2012 is a much healthier time for us all.
Last year bought sadness to the majority of us, in one way or another.

Thank you all for your friendship over the last year, and heres to many more good times.

This afternoon we are doing the hospital rounds, visiting our grandaughters boyfriend, who had to have a colostomy bag fitted earlier last year, he had the reversal operation done on the 29th 0f December, and is now on the road to recovery. Bless him he is only 21, and has gone through so much.

We will also see our friend Barbara, who had to have her leg amputated below the knee about six weeks ago. She is now trying to adapt to her new atificial leg, but cannot go home, until such time as her flat has been adapted to fit her needs.

I must go and do us some lunch now, so I will speak to you all tomorrow.
Love and hugs to all. Mo xxx

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone.
Congratulations on your new ggrandchild Huia.
Was very saddened this evening when we heard that young adult next door to us had hung himself this morning. He did attempt . it about 6 months ago but 16 year old brother found him and got help.. Have heard mother when in arguments with him in past few weeks screaming that he should have done a proper job on himself the first time. Such a waste of a young life. R.I.P.
Take care.
Betty.

Hi everyone

Ann ..... I know it is a tense time. <3 <3 It was for us, even though we knew that it was about 99% certain that the mastectomy had solved the problem, and there would be no need for further treatment. There's always that "what if ...."

We had a very quiet evening. OH cooked a chicken, while I made the sage and onion stuffing, and he also made casseroled sweet potatoes, and an asparagus/ broccoli mix. We ate about 7 pm, then did our own thing until it was time to watch the tv.

problem was ............. there didn't seem to be anything televised from Vancouver ! :-(

We could watch Times Square, New York (3 hours earlier than us) ....... but then we found one of the local stations in Seattle, just south of us, had a major show on. Lots of fireworks, entertainment, etc.

We then slept in until 10:15 am this morning, which would be about 6:15 pm your time

We never sleep that late!!

I admit that I didn't go to bed until about 2:45 am (got involved in a tricky genealogical question on GR), but we had not drunk a lot. I had nothing 'cos alcohol doesn't like me, and OH had 2 glasses of wine.

It is quite a pleasant day here ......... sunny and cloudy, but chilly.

Huia ................. meant to say, that is what happened to me. I was in labour for 24 hours and then had a caesarean. Hope all is going well with the baby and the new parents.

Glad you had a good christmas Sylvia and thank you for those thoughts, it is a tense time for us. We had a quiet New Year, just the two of us, the same as Christmas but it was very relaxed and pleasant despite the indifferent TV. We did enjoy the London Fireworks though, quite spectacular. (Goodness knows how much they cost!).

Glad you had a good new year Sally, congratulations Gt Grandma Huia, and a happy new year Jean, hope it is a more healthy one for both of you. :-)

Well, 2012 has started off well for me. My gt grandson was born at 11.55 a.m. today (92 mins ago, just before lunch), and weighed 6 lb 14 oz. I thought they weighed them in metric these days? He was b by caesarean, probably as she had been in labour for over 24 hours.

Hi everyone
xxx

We've been back from the Island for a couple of days, but have been busy.

We had a great time over there .............. quiet, but great food, good conversation, and a lot of laughs. Christmas dinner was a lot of fun.

I shall be glad to see the end of 2011 ................. a lot of good things happened, but all overshadowed by the cancer diagnosis in August. Thankfully, I need no further treatment, and arm movement is back to about 95+%, so I am doing good :-D

I think of Ann and her daughter, who is waiting for the results of the pathology. I hope the diagnosis, and results of treatment, will be as good as mine.

We still have about 9 hours to go before midnight here, but ................

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE
xxxx

May 2012 be a good year for all of us.

Hello ladies,

Just finished typing out a message to you all and it suddenly disappeared, I didn't touch or do anything to it so don't know what happened. So better start again.lol!!

It's been very quiet on here lately, everyone must still be tired after Christmas.
Over the last few days I haven't been too good myself, but I'm sure I'll get over it.lol!! There are a lot of people far worse off than I am, so I won't complain.

Ann, I will be thinking of your daughter when she gets her results next Tuesday, the 3rd January. Sending her and all of you lots of positive thoughts and hope that any treatment she has to have will be a complete success.

Hope you and T will enjoy the New Year as best you can with worrying about your daughter.

Mo. how are things with you and Roly? I hope that he is feeling a lot better now with no more trouble.

Hope you will both enjoy your New Year night out with some members of your family. All of you enjoy and take care.

Huia, hope that you are alright. Have you already celebrated the New Year in NZ?
Hope you have company to celebrate the New Year with....just wondering if your son and daugter-in-law are still on holiday near you and that perhaps you are able to spend the New Year with them.

Hope you find Phil more responsive when you go to visit him over the holiday. Take care.

Caz, like you Alun and I will be at home for the New Year, although we will stay up and see the New Year in.
I don't mind being at home for it, not too keen on celebrating it.....much prefer Christmas.
I hope you are feeling better than you've been lately. I will be thinking of you.

Linda, hope you and OH will enjoy the New Year event at the hotel near you. There's something to be said for retirement. it's nice to be able to go somewhere and not have to worry about having to go to work the next day.lol!!

Jean, nice to hear from you, glad to hear that you are alright....apart from your computer playing up.

Thank you for asking, Jennie is doing okay at the moment, as long as she stays off fatty foods she's alright. although she gets her times like over Christmas where she has something nice to eat, such as cake and chocs, and although she doesn't ever have too much of them, she pays the price afterwards. I know it must be hard for staying off some of the things that she enjoys eating.

Hope Debra is going along OK and not having any problems either.

Sylvia, not sure if you are back from your Christmas in Vancouver Island.....hope you and OH had a lovely time with all your friends.

Hope all is going well for you and that you are now feeling a lot better and still making a good recovery after your op. Thinking about you.

We haven't heard from Tess for a long while. Tess if you are looking in I hope all is well with you and I want to say thank you for your Christmas card.

Jude, I hope you enjoyed your birhday and that you and Vic had a good time staying with your daughter and her family. Also hope Madoc is OK.

Betty, hope all is well with you. Thank you for your Christmas card, I hope you got mine OK.
It's nice to see you posting on here, hope we'll see more of you in the the new year.

Marie, if you are looking in, hope all your family problems will be sorted very soon and that you are welll.Take care.

Joyce, also hope we'll see you back on here in the new year. Hope all your family problems will also soon be sorted and that you will feel a lot better.

Well ladies, I'm going to have some lunch now so will speak to you all in 2012.

I want to wish you all a Very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Hope it will be better for all of us.

Take care.

Love and Best Wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi Jean, hopefully we will soon be booking holidays but waiting until after daughter sees the consultant on Tuesday. Until then she doesn't know if she will need chemo, radio therapy or both. Hopefully it will just be RT but it depends on the test results so a worrying waiting time which I seem to be finding worse than she is, but daren't tell her that as she'll accuse me of over-reacting I'm sure.

Pleased to hear that you had a good Christmas even if quiet like ours. Not taking our decs and lights down yet because I like them. And when they are down we are going to decorate the lounge so putting off the day of chaos.

Sallie, our daughter is ok, very sore and can't use her left arm. She goes back to see the consultant on Tuesday 3rd when she will know the result of the biopsy of the lymph glands. Then a week later she should start radiotherapy which, I think, is five days a week for 3 weeks.
