Sylvia, thank you for your kind thoughts. I can't get over how N--l didn't have any symptoms until he started with the headache and then for it to happen so quickly.

Glad that OH is home safe but sorry that he has got a bad cold. I hope he won't be too generous with it......you can do without that kind of present.lol!!

Take care and keep warm.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi everyone

OH got home safely on Thursday .......... but he brought a present home with him

a bad cold

I'm hoping that I will not catch it!

We had a couple of centimetres of Sunday on Friday morning ........ nowhere near what we had been told to expect.

Then it started to warm up, and it was pouring rain by mid-afternoon!

It's raining today!

Sallie ........ so sorry to hear about your friend.

These brain tumours can develop to quite a large size before causing any problems, depending on where exactly they are.

Remember that contact of mine last summer ........... arrived at the conference on Sunday looking fine. Next day was very tired. Next day, doing silly things, and not always making sense when she spoke. Got more and more disoriented as the week progressed ........ and was diagnosed with a huge tumour on the following Sunday

............... less than a week from symptoms beginning to show to diagnosis.

I haven't been keeping up with her husband's blog (it got too depressing, to be honest) ..... but the last I heard, it looked as though the tumour was growing back.

Take care everyone

Not been on for a few days, the news about N--l upset me more than I thought it had. Anyway feel a bit better now, it was just the shock of it all.

Ann, thanks for your kind thoughts....no I'm afraid he didn't know that he had a brain tumour, apparently he hadn't had any symptoms at all until the day that he started with the headache. A better way for him not to know, but such a shock for his family and friends.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend with your daughter and her family and that the weather isn't too bad there. Still windy here today but at least it's dry, which is a lot better than yesterday.

Mo, I haven't been on the threads for a few days until today. Wished Jean in Monmouth a Happy Birthday earlier on today and now on here. I must go on the other threads and I also have a few pm's to answer.

How are things with you and your family? I hope all is well with everyone.

Sylvia, hope your OH is home safe and sound and that he had a good journey.

Have you had anymore snow there? Over the weekend it's been very windy, wet and cold here in Derbyshire. I shalll be glad to see the Spring arrive....the longer days.

Caz, hope that things are a bit easier for you.....hope you are able to make a couple of cards. It will help to keep your mind off things. Thinking about.

Huia, where are you? It seems a while since we heard from you.
Hope things are not too bad with Phil....hope he has responded more to you on your last few visits.

Also hope that all is going well with your new greatgranddaughter and
her parents.

Linda, I see that you are home again. hope you and OH had a good holiday. Nice to see you name posting again.

Jean, hope you, Jeff and Debra are all OK. I expect you are busy card making.

Joyce, hope you and Jan enjoyed your Anniversary celebrations with the family today.

Marie and Betty, if you are looking in, I hope that you are both OK.

Well I must go and add to a couple more threads, so will speak to you all soon.

Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Oooh my goodness, this thread is looking like a ghost town.
Where has everyone got to. I know that Ann is away for the weekend, but is everyone hybernating.

Joyce, I thought it was your wedding anniversary today. I made Roly run up to the post office quickly and get your card away, in case I missed it. Now I feel a right flippin narrna.lol
Just be sure to put your card out on the real anniversary day ;-)
Sorry to hear you are still suffering with the pains.

Sylvia, I trust your OH got home safetly, and didn't get stuck in the snow on the way home.
I hope the temperature has risen a little for you.
We still have the very chilly winds here in Kent. If it doesn't brighten up during the day tomorrow, I can see me having another day stuck inside the house.

I hope Marie and Huia are o.k in OZ and NZ. I am wondering what their weather is like now.
I believe OZ should now be starting it's summer months.

Sallie what have you been up to this weekend, you have been very quiet, and I miss your chats to us.

I hope all our friends are well.

Special ((((((((((((((HUGS FOR JEAN)))))))))))))))
Speak to you soon. Love Mo xxx

Hello Girls,

Brother rang me this afternoon to let me know that an old school friend of his has died suddenly from a brain tumour at the age of 63.

It's upset me a bit as he lived two doors away from us while we were growing up, we, with other children in the street all played together and his dad who was a teacher taught us in class 4 of the Junior school.
N--l who was a teacher and later a headteacher always lived in the same town that we were brought up in, with his wife and children, so of course my brother kept in touch with him.
He and his wife had been out walking with some members of the walking club they belonged to, he started with a headache which got worse even after taking painkillers.....wife called Dr and by the time the ambuance arrived N--l had become unconcious, he died two days later in hospital.
Sorry to go on everyone, I just feel so upset about it....it was so unexpected.

Joyce, glad that Jan enjoyed his birthday....he did well with cards from the GR ladies......you'll have to keep an eye on him and us, you know.lolol!!!

Hope they can sort out a chair lift for you Joyce. It will make life a bit easier for you.

I am thinking that I might pop to Derby tomorrow so I will have a look in the Craft Shops to see what peel offs they have there that might be OK for you.

Ann you and T have a safe journey to daughter's and enjoy the weekend with her and her family.
Still thinking about her and sending her lots of positive thoughts.
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Mo, not sure if you have a darts match tonight or not....if you have hope you and team will win.

Sylvia, OH must be on his way accross ' The Pond ' by now. Hope he has a safe journey.

Jean, hope you, Jeff and Debra are all alright today. Hope it isn't too cold for you today.....it's gone cold again here today.
I went up to town this morning to get a few bits and bobs, I was glad to get home as it was colder than I expected it to be.

Caz, how are you? I hope that you are coping a bit more than you've been able to for a long while. Thinking about you.

Huia, hope you are alright. Are you stiil working in the Charity Shop?

Hope Linda and OH are having a good holiday. Not sure when they are due home.

Marie I hope that things are getting better and easier for you. Take care.

I must go now, I have to give my cousin a ring before it gets too late.

I'll speak to all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Hello all. Sylvia Hope your OH has a good journey home and that he is not met by too much snow. He will feel the cold because today has been quite mild again.

Sally, I made four cards today, didn't have much time as I went into town but wanted to do a few.

What i really should be doing is getting back to my scrap booking but I want to make sure I have enough cards for my needs first.

Mo, hope you have recovered from the first birthday party.

Jean good to see that you have booked a holiday. Hope all goes well for you both with the drive and everything. Jeff will just have to take it slowly and maybe stop for a couple of breaks on the way.

Hi all
xx

It is bitterly cold here ........ well, we Vancouverites think it is cold!

It got down to -6C in my back garden overnight ..... its -4.5C there right now.

The official Vancouver temperature is taken at the airport .............. those were 1-2 degrees colder. There was also a wind, which made it feel even colder, more like -14C in downtown. We call that the "wind chill factor"

Meanwhile, my sis-i-l is having temperatures around -20C, with the wind making it feel more like -27C ..... and other areas have temperatures around -42C

We had another 1-2 cm snow this morning ......... and it looks as though we might be getting more. There could be larger falls tomorrow or Friday ...... good welcome home for OH :-)

Sallie ... it's both!

He leaves London at 2:45 pm UK time, and lands here 10 hours later ................. at 4:45 pm Vancouver time :-D

That's because of the 8 hour time difference between us.

Take care everyone

Hello Girls,

That's the main shop done for another week, thank goodness. The older I get the more I dislike doing it.lol!!!

Jean lovely to hear from you, we really miss seeing more posts from you.
Happy to hear that you and Jeff have at last been able to book a holiday at Llandudno in March. Will keep my fingers crosssed that the weather will be kind to you.

Both Jennie and I are fine thanks. Hope Debra is getting along alright too.

Mo, hope all your aches and pains have gone after all the crawling about on your hands and knees on your granddaughter's birthday.
At least you can do more than me, I can't even get on my knees let alone crawl about on them.lol!!!
By the sound of it, Lilly had a great 1st birthday, betwwen the two days.Bless her!

Joyce, hope that Jan have had a great day celebrating his birthday.

The family did well decorating the front of the house with the balloons
without the dog hearing them.

Ann, I still haven't made any cards, but I have an 80th birthday card to make for my cousin and I want something special for her so will make one. As you say once I get started I'll carry on making them.

Glad to hear that your daughter is OK and that she is busy making cards by the sound of it. I'm sure that both you and T will enjoy your weekend with her and her family.

Sylvia, I'm sure you are looking forward to having your OH home again. Sorry I can't remember if you said that he leaves here (UK) Thursday or if he arrives back in Vancouver on that day.

Huia, how are things with you? I see you ' flitting ' about some of the threads. I hope that you're OK.

Well girls, must go now so will speak to you all again tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Hi girls,
Just a quick visit, to let you know that all is well here with us in Kent.

It's lovely to hear from our dear friend Jean, we have so missed her postings.
It's such good news that you are soon going to be getting the break away, that you both so deserve Jean.
Roly is fine Jean. His hearing is now as keen as mustard, he could hear a pin dropping at fifty paces now. I daren't moan about him within earshot, just in case I get black eye. ;-)

Joyce, I hope that you all enjoy the surprise party. Not to many sherberts mind, you don't want a sore head in the morning.lol

Ann, Roly is on Glucophage for his diabetes. He has one tablet twice daily.
Mind I am very careful as to what I feed him, but have to watch him where the chocolate is concerned, he is a proper little piggy for it.
We have managed to keep his blood sugars down to between 5-6, so not to bad really.

Bye for now my friends, Love to all. Mo xxx

Joyce, daughter is ok, got another three weeks before she starts her radio therapy so for now she is off sick resting and making loads of cards from the sound of it. We are going to see them this weekend. She is taking medication (Metformin) for the diabetes and it is having a few mild side effects but she says she can live with them while her body adjusts to them.

Sylvia, how lovely that they are so caring of the elderly and infirm with the snow clearing. I can't see that working here.

Mo, so pleased that Lily had a lovely birthday, hope the knees are not too sore today.

No, Sallie, if you'd lost interest you would have bypassed the craft stuff. You will get going soon. I have made a couple of cards this afternoon but was clearing up a few things this morning ready for a trip to my favourite place this afternoon - the local dump. We had a few old pots of paint to get rid of and you are not supposed to put them in the bin with non recycleables, then we had a few cardboard boxes, metal pieces of the old light, light bulbs etc etc. when we got to the dump I asked where I should put the paint tine. Would you believe in the non recyclables:? So what is the difference between that and the non recycleable wheelie bin? Anyway that is another load got rid of.

Hi all

no snow overnight, but a little fell around 8-9 am ............. in bright sun!

It's cloudy and threatening outside right now!

Ann and Sallie ............. no worries for the elderly

........... either neighbours help, as they did for me. Or a senior or disabled person can phone City Hall, and they have a programme that matches such people with others who can and will do it. Plus several groups (such as Rotary) will also make arrangements to help

When OH is here, he clears our snow, then goes to do ti for others ........ there's almost always 2 or 3 people in a block that do that.

Don't forget that we live in a place where snow is expected, and people born here or longtime residents know all about snow clearing. It's the new immigrants who don't do it ....... and who are the reason that the bylaw was brought in a couple of years ago.

Pity that something that was just accepted as the thing to do has had to be legislated because people not doing it.

As for responsibility ................. we can be sued if we have NOT cleared the path to the front door or the sidewalk of snow and ice.

Sallie ..... J et al are having similar weather over on that side!

Take care everyone
