Mo in Kent Report 29 Feb 2012 15:48

Hello girls,
Many thanks for the lovely cards, Jean, Ann and Joyce, and thank you all for the anniversary wishes.
We were going to go out for a meal tonight, but we are both so full of this cold, that we have changed the booking for Saturday instead.

Our son saw the specialist yesterday, and had the echo cardiogramme done
It shows that his heart is mis-shapen, and has what they describe as a thread going through the top part of the heart.
The specialist in Scotland is sending all the information down to Jason's doctor here, and he is to see a heart specialist as soon as possible.
He is allowed to drive, but take lots of rest breaks in the journey.
I am still hoping that someone who is attending the funeral, will offer drive them home next week.
He is still having little niggly pains, but not as bad as they were, thank the good lord.

Ooh isn't it lovely to hear from Sylvia and Marie again. We do miss their postings, as we do Huia's.
It would be nice to hear from Joyce and Caz, to see how they are both doing as well.

Well girls, Gammon Steaks, Jacket spuds, peas and pinneapple for dinner tonight, and guess who's cooking, yes me. So I had better get my skates on, and get the preparations sorted.
Take care, and love to all. Mo xxx

Hello all,

Mo, is there any more news about your son....how did he get on at the hospital yesterday. Hope they can sort out his problem with medication.

Jean, hope you and Jeff have a nice few days on your own. As you say, as we get older we swap role play with our children.lol!!

Glad to hear that you are getting on with your card making.
I haven't done any at all since last week...we seem to have spent a lot of time at the hospital with Jennie. She's not only suffered a small flare up of Crohn's, she's had a water infection, a high temperature and heart rate, and a very swollen and painful right knee. We took her to A&E on Sunday evening, after being there for five hours they kept her in.
After tests and xrays it looks as though a virus is the cause of her problem. Her temperature is still up and down, and after draining the fluid off her knee three times, they were able give her a steroid injection into it, so it's feels a bit easier. At least now she can move about on crutches instead of having to use a wheelchair.
As some people that suffer from Crohn's can also suffer with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Jennie is now under a Consultant Rheumatologist at the hospital, she will be given an appoitment and also has to go for physiotherapy on her knee as it has become very stiff.

Marie nice to hear from you again, sorry that the summer weather hasn't been too good for you all. I'm looking forward to the longer days here and hope that our summer weather will be good.
Hope all is well with your family.

Sylvia, lovely to hear from you. Hope hubby's results of his colonoscopy were good. Also hope that all is going along okay for you.

How is your grandson getting along these days? He must be coming up to two now, but I might have it wrong. Anyway, I hope that he and his mum and dad are all well.

Caz, hope you are feeling a little bit better than you've been lately.
Thinking about you.

Linda, haven't spoken to you for a while, hope all is well with you and your family. I expect your grandson is coming along well by now.

Joyce, hope you and Jan are both alright.

Ann, hope all is well with you and your daughter.

Huia, hope you are alright. Are you still working in the Hospice Shop?

Well girls I must go now, have a few things to do before going to the hospital to visit Jennie.

Speak to you all soon

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi all

Mo I am pleased that your son is out of hospital, that is the second case of that I've heard of and the last one was a friend in her 80s who was also visiting Scotland. Coincidence? She seems to have made a full recovery.

I didn't say the cream is not working, I said it is too soon to see if it has worked, it is about a month after using the cream before you can tell. However, one patch looks more hopeful than others I think.

Sallie I am sorry to hear about Jennie, I hope the hospital can set her on the road to recovery. Crohns is such a horrible disease isn't it?

Sallie

Sallie Report 27 Feb 2012 11:29

Good morning girls,

Mo, good to know that your son is out of hospital, even though he has to go back for a scan to his heart on Tuesday. Hope that with the right care by the doctors and by him looking after himself and doing what the doctors tell him, he'll make a very good recovery. Wishing him all the best for tomorrow, I will be thinking about him, you and the family.

I'm really pleased to be seeing Gourmail again, just hope that this time I will be able to beat the old Black Dog altogether.

Ann, I've seen your message on the Wales thread, thank you for letting me know.

Pleased to hear that your daughter is having a holiday up in the Lake District, it will do her good now she's finished her treatment.

Jennie's right knee got more swollen over the weekend, we took her to hospital last night where they found out that her temperature was quite high. After draining the fluid off her knee, blood tests and an Xray, they now think that her knee problem is linked to her Crohn's Disease. The doctors that are in the team of the Consultant she is under at the hospital decided to keep her in. So we have to wait to see what they will say today. Oh well, can't say life is boring.lolol!!

Hope everyone else is alright, might look in again later on.

Take care all.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello my friends,
Many thanks for your kind thoughts.
My son has now been released from hospital, with medication to help him.
He has to go back on Tuesday for a scan of his heart, and see the cardiologist.
They say it is Peri Cardi-itus (sp).... inflamation to the sac that surrounds the heart.
God willing, with proper treatment, and extra care on his side, he will make a good recovery.

Ann, what a pity the Aldera ointment is not working. It has made things very uncomfortable for you hasn't it.
It's good to hear that your daughter is having a nice break away, to recouperate. Lets hope the weather forecasters are correct, and that she gets some nice weather whilst she is up there.

Sallie, it's heartening to read that you are seeing the same therapist as last time. At least she knows your history, and can catch up on things where she left off the last time.
Stay strong honey, and dont let the Bu**er beat you.

Hi Marie and Huia. Good to hear all your news. Sylvia has been missing for some time now, I do hope she is well.

Tea time now, so I will wish you all, a good evening, and god willing will speak to you tomorrow.
Love and hugs, Mo xxx

Marie, nice to see you. Daughter is in the Lake District now recuperating now that she has finished the radio therapy. She is still tired and was warned that would last for another 10-14 days but she is happy to have finished it.

I have another 7 days of using the aldera ointment. Can't reallys ee if it has solved the problem yet, if it hasn't the ulcers will be removed in June.

Mo, hope the news from your son is positive and that he is improving.

Sallie, just 'spoken' to you on the Wales thread. Hope you get all your jobs done and the day passes quickly for you. Sometimes we long for a day on our own and then when we get one it does drag :-D We are never satidfied.

Sallie Report 26 Feb 2012 12:24

Mo, hope that the news about your son is a bit better today.
Thinking about him, you, Roly and the family, and sending you all lots of positive thoughts.

Marie, lovely to hear from you, glad to hear that things with you and your family are better. Families are such a worry, aren't they?

Thank you, I'm sure that things will get right again as they have done in the past. After the last time, I thought that was the end of the old Black Dog, I think I might have expected too much. I go to see the Cousellor on the 7th March, the same one as I had last time, so I'm pleased about that.

Huia, glad to hear that you have got rid of your unwelcome visitors at last. Let's hope they stay away from now on.

How are things with Phil? Hope things were not too bad with him the last time you visited him.

I must go and get a couple of jobs done now, so might look in again later.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 26 Feb 2012 08:19

Marie, no council dumps near us. We are in the country. The rats come from the bush or the farmland. The Parks people have a programme putting poison baits out in the bush for rats and your Aussie furry friends, so I know that the rats do live in the bush. It will be an ongoing problem for me as we will probably never be able to exterminate them all.

I had been thinking early in the week of going to see my gt grandson today but after the busy week I decided I was too weary to drive that far. Maybe next weekend.

I have finally managed to download some photos from my camera onto the 'new' computer. I was getting so frustrated as nothing seemed to work, but suddenly it came right. I still havent checked out my scanners. I am almost afraid to in case they were also zapped by the lightning.

I am off to bed soon, so have a nice day you up-toppers, and a nice evening to the Ozzies.

Huia.

Mo, I'm really sorry to hear about your son, what a shock you and Roly must have had. Sending him our get well wishes, and hoping that he will get over it very soon. As you say, not so good him and a big worry for you and Roly, with him being so far from home.

Also sorry to hear about S's grandmother, it was nice that she had a peaceful end with just her husband there.

No matter how old our children are, we still worry about them.

If you can Mo, could you let us know how he is, please.

Will be thinking about you all, and hope and pray that the news will get better each day.

Mo in Kent Report 25 Feb 2012 18:32

Good evening girls.
S lost her grandmother on Thursday morning, she waited till she was alone with her husband to leave this world.

Yesterday we had a phone call from S, to say that our son has had a heart attack up in Scotland.
They say he has an enlarged heart, and needs two weeks bed rest, and a follow up appointment with a specialist.
I dare say all the worry and travel hasn't helped the situation. After all he worked a full day, and then spent the evening driving.
Oh boy what a worry all this is, and being so far away doesn't help us. But S is very good, and keeps us updated a couple of times a day.

It's good to hear from you Huia. Those dratted rats of yours, are a real pain in the backside arn't they love.
They must all enjoy living at your place, because they seem to return to visit you each year, dont they. Nasty little blighters, thank goodness your son was around to hear them with their hobnails boots on,running round in your attic, or they would have been asking for bed and breakfast.lol

Thank you for the card Jean..... But it's not my birthday till October.. I bet you have got confused with my wedding anniversary, that falls on the 29th of this month. Bless you my darling, thank you for the kind thoughts.

Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx
