Mo in Kent Report 9 Mar 2012 18:54

Hello everyone, how are we all today.
Caz thank goodness that cast has come of at long last, but I bet it does feel strange without it, as plaster casts become like an extra layer of skin dont they.
Thank goodness it was really hot, or you would have been sweating buckets with it on.
A nice shower will buck you up no end, but just take care and dont slip over.
I know, I know, I dont want to sound like I'm nagging, but please take care love.

Ann,have a lovely time up at the lakes. How long will you be away? It will be nice to hear how things are going for you, while you are there.
We can all then pretend we are there with you, having a lovely break away,in all the peace and quiet there.
It's been quite a few years since we last went there with our friends from Lancashire, but it was so peaceful and serene.

Oooh I think we should give Huia a medal for bravery. I dont honestly think I could have tackled the rat as bravely as you did Huia.
I would have had rubber gloves, a face mask, body suit and goodness only knows what else on.
It makes me shiver when I think about it. I was lucky enough to have Roly here, when he trapped our rat that time, but if I had been on my own, I think I would have run next door, and got my neighbour to remove it for me.
So well done to you Huia.

We have got a new Dobbies Garden Centre opened near here, so I am hoping to get a visit in some time this week.
The official opening was today, but it would have been heaving with people, so we have decided to wait a while.
It will be nice to get new plants from a different source this year.

I hope Sallie is o.k as she has not posted for a few days.
Well my friends I will love you and leave you, take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Thanks Ann I haven't had one yet, still have to stripwash because of my balance, I found I wasn't safe on the seat when I moved and I don't want another broken bone.
Enjoy your trip to the lakes, we had a full week there once with full sunshine so it can happen.

Ooh Huia, not sure I could have done that, but well done, you are certainly getting rid of a lot. Do you think there are any more around?

we are off to the Lake district tomorrow, the weather forecast looked fairly good so fingers crossed. However you don't get Lakes without rain!!!!! So today has been taken up with packing and sorting out paperwork that needed doing before we go away, watering small plants etc. Luckily our neighbours have the key and look after the house well for us. :-)

I will have my netbook so will not be out of touch, may not be on as much but will check in occasionally. :-D

Huia Report 9 Mar 2012 01:16

I found I had another rat in one of the traps this morning. That was the thirteenth, which probably explains why he was caught by his hind leg and was still alive! I carried the trap outside and grabbed a flower pot to bash him on the head but he was still wriggling so I grabbed a lenth of pipe and gave him a really hard bashing. Uggh, but I wasnt going to let a live one go. I havent had any more fleas since I let off the 4 flea bombs throughout the house over a week ago. That is a big relief. :-)

So you will smell sweet tomorrow then Caz, just in time for your birthday!!! Glad that you have got the plaster off at last. Please be careful now you are mobile again.

Mo, hope you get over that cold soon. At least Roly will be able to find you in the dark if your nose glows!!!! Sorry xx

YorkshireCaz Report 8 Mar 2012 20:27

Hi girls, not been on for a few days but back now. I went to get my cast off this morning and it feels so strange without it. I find it difficult to walk on my ankle but the doc said it would be a bit painful and might swell so not worried about it, he said to spend a lot of time with it up so I am spending more time in bed. I was told to carry on using my crutches for the time being, lol, I walk with them normally and use my wheelchair when out.
Huia baby Marcus is beautiful, it's a shame all mine are grown up even my youngest grandchildren are in their teens.
I have one of those electric bats for flies, I don't need it her at the flat, we very rarely have a fly in but at the other house we needed it as we had a cow field adjoining our garden.
Goody I was told this morning that I could have a shower tomorrow, I have missed them so much, I would prefer a bath but we have a wetroom so only a shower, better than nothing though.
Hope everyone is keeping well.

Love Caz xx

LOL Huia, I have put an advert in the local paper for a replacement for Vic, but I dont think I will get any replies as there's not much of a chest left to rub now.

Ann, the cough wakes ME up at night, thank goodness there's a wall between Roly and my room,or he would be complaining.
My poor nose feels like I have been rubbing it with sandpaper. And I am beginning to look like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

Going to darts now, so I will say cheerio for now. Love Mo xxx

Aaw he's sweet Huia. sick and all!!!

Mo sorry you have been unable to shake off that cold, Tony can't completely lose his cough either, he is left with an irritating tickly one, not at night though thank goodness.

Sallie, glad Jennie is on the mend. sad about your BiL it must be very tiring for his wife.

Mo in Kent Report 8 Mar 2012 16:05

Atishooo, Atishoo god bless me.
Sorry to have been missing for a few days girls, but I can't seem to shake this blessed cold, and have not been feeling myself.
I got Vic to rub my chest but that didn't help either.
I know it's no good going to the doctor, as he will only tell me it's a virus, and to let my body get rid of it in it's own way.

Ah Sylvia, the dreaded silver fish. We had them in our old house, in the kitchen, and they were a right beast to get rid off.
I would scrub every cupboard and drawer, to try and get rid of them, but because they seem to like small damp corners, I was in fact helping them to breed.
I was so relieved when we moved here, not to have them anymore.

Today has been a lovely sunny day. Not very warm, but oh so nice to see the sun shining for a change.

Huia, hows the flea and rat situation now. I do hope the blighters have all evacuated your place. Nasty little bu**ers arn't they.

Our son is still feeling the after affects of his heart attack. He is waiting for his results to be sent down from Scotland, for his doctor to take a look at them.
He is due back at his doctors next Tuesday, and hopefully the new medication will bring his blood pressure down, as it was sky high the other day.

Take care everyone, love to you all. Mo xxx

Hi all
xxx

we have "liquid sunshine" over here :-)

but it is also very warm .................. we call it "Pineapple Express" weather because it is coming straight at us from Hawaii!

Like Huia, we have screens on all opening windows, and most of our doors, especially the French windows onto the patio. So we get very few flies etc in the house.

we are having a battle with silverfish at the moment though ................ we had a new carpet a few years ago, and they started appearing about 6 weeks after that. So I think they came in with either the underlay or the carpet :-|

Like all old houses, we have lots of nooks and crannies where they can hide. We think we've got rid of them, then they pop up in another room.

OH is going to put down some stuff which is "guaranteed" to kill them. We shall see :-)

Sallie Report 4 Mar 2012 19:15

Mo, Jennie is feeling better now thank you, apart from her knee which is still fairly painful and of course she's still on crutches. At least she looks a lot better and has started eating again.

Have you heard from your son today? Hope he's feeling better each day and that he has found someone that can drive his car back to Kent for him.

Hope that you and Roly have got rid of your heavy colds and are feeling a lot better

Brother-in-law has certainly got a lot worse over the last few months, I'm wondering how much longer sister-in-law will be able to cope with him......he has got to the stage, if anyone speaks to him he raises his voice and shakes his fist at them. He can only say a few words, the rest is just mumbo jumbo.

Well Mo, hope you won't get any snow tomorrow, that's the last thing you need.

It's also been pouring with rain here all day and it's with it.

Hope all the rest of our friends on here are all okay.

I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Oooh Huia, what a lovely photo of baby Marcus. He looks like he is a happy chappy, unlike when you visited, and he threw up over you.
Unfortunately babies seem to wait for the most unoppertune moments to do it dont they.
Many a time I have come home after visiting baby Lilly, and could smell vomit, only to be told by Roly, that she had thrown up down my back.

Sorry Sallie, I forgot to say that I have got to wait seven to ten working days for my results.
I had wondered about your brother in law, and how he was health wise. It's so hard on the sufferers partners, as Huia can bear witness to, bless her.
I hope Jennie is o.k love.

Well girls, we have had pouring rain all day, now the wind is extremely strong, and guess what, they say we are due for snow tomorrow here in Kent. Oooh how wonderful, NOT.

I will be back tomorrow to speak to you all, so take care. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 4 Mar 2012 04:25

Well it was a beautiful fine day today. I drove to Papakura, picked up the other gt grandmother (from our side of the family, there is one on the father's side) and drove down to Hamilton. Because we were busy chatting I missed the usual turn so had to pull over and stop to look at a map to see how to get there. I came to a roundabout and there was absolutely no sign of what the roads were called - very helpful (not). We got there, only about 5 km more travel than last time.

Young Marcus didnt seem too happy today. Every time I held him or looked at him he started crying. I feel like the wicked witch from the East. And on one occasion when he was lying down and crying I picked him up and after a couple of minutes I realised my top felt wet. He had been sick on me. Not too bad though. I had taken some spare tops with me but didnt bother to change.

I think I will wait until he is about 6 months old before I start asking for a 4 generation photo. Maybe by then he will be sitting, and hopefully happy.

Time to think about my dinner.

Huia.

Hello girls,

Mo, do you know how long you have to wait to get the results of the scan? I suppose the doctor might have some idea of what the problem is, but it's a bit odd that they scanned in the area of your womb and ovaries. Let's hope that it won't take them too long to get it sorted.

Glad that you enjoyed your meal even though the service could have been better.

Hope son is feeling better now and that all will go well on Monday.

Alun's sister and brother-in-law were here today, so we went out for lunch to the place where Jennie and Michael had their wedding reception and evening do. As usual the food was very good, with a wide choice of food.
Alun's brother-in-law has got worse since we last seen just before Christmas, he easily get's very agitated now......it's sad to see him as he is, to how he used to be.

Jean, I'm sorry I didn't send you and Jeff an anniversary card....I'm afraid it's been one of those weeks, with Jennie being in hospital. At least she's home and although she's on crutches both her and Michael were able to join us for lunch out.

How is Debra getting on? Hope she's going along ok.

Ann, thanks for the info about Tirley..it's a shame about them building a gas plant there. It spoils the look of the countryside around it.

How is your daughter getting along, hope she's feeling less sore now.

Huia, hope you will manage to get into Hamilton to see your grtgrandson tomorrow.

Linda, how is your new grandson doing? I hope that the jaundice is clearing well now.

Caz, hope your ankle is a bit easier now. If I remember rightly, I'm sure that the plaster is due off very soon. Hope all goes well for you.

Hello to Sylvia and Joyce. Hope you are both alright.

Well girls I'm ready for a cuppa now, so will speak to you soon.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Jean, I must apologise for not wishing you both a very happy anniversary earlier.
I can guess what and where your Anniversary presents will come from.
It has to be a crafting shop, based somewhere in Wales. lol
I do hope you have enjoyed your day today my love. <3

Ann, the pains are in the upper bowel, and under my rib cage. Thats why I couldn't understand the questions about my womb and ovaries. lol
I am grateful that they are doing all the checks though. I would rather be safe than sorry.

We had a lovely meal tonight, but the service was appalling(sp). We couldn't believe how long they kept us waiting between courses. I dont think we will be returning there in a hurry.

Have a lovely evening one and all. Love Mo xxx
