Oh thank goodness, you are back Puss.
Now comes the big wait for you, but if they say that they see nothing serious, then try not to worry yourself to much. They WILL get you sorted out, by hook or by crook love.
Don't worry yourself about remembering our names, it will all come to you sooner or later.
I know most of our friends names, but still get myself confused at times.
Mind you I do the same with my grandchildren, they are never sure who the heck I am talking to half the time, coz I get their names muddled so often.
Right I can go to my bed knowing that all is well.
Night god bless one and all, speak to you tomorrow sometime. Love Mo xxx

Mo in Kent Report 11 Apr 2012 18:01

Good evening everyone,
I like the rest of you am wondering how Puss got on at her scan today. Lets hope she's o.k, and that we hear something very soon from her.

Ah Sylvia, bless your friend. It must be so hard seeing him like this, especially as he was such a learned man before.
Is his wife still alive I have forgotten, you have probably told us, but I am such a scatter brain.
And will you be having a bit of a party for him?

Sallie, that cough following the virus, is a right beast to get rid off. And I believe it's an air born virus, and lots of people caught it.
Have you been getting Alun to rub your back in with an embrocation like deep heat or something on those lines. Mind you, thats if you are allowed to use that type of thing,as not everybody can if they are on certain medications.
Yes honey I still play darts on Thursdays, and still on Mondays at the moment. We only have about three more games left for the Mondays, before the season ends.
I am still getting the error message as well. But what is really annoying is, that I have deleted myself from some threads that I had added to, the written message has gone, but the threads themsleves have not gone from my threads, but what I added HAS gone.

Ann, has your T had problems with his new teeth then. Roly will still not wear his new ones, even though the dentist ground some of off them to make them more comfortable. He's a stubborn old Bu**er, and says that they feel uncomfortable.
I love to go shopping on my own, but like you, dont get much of an opportunity to do so.
Roly is not exactly a shopperholic, and cant wait to get out of shops. I'm sure he's scared stiff that I am going to max his cards out, silly boy, I would use my own, I couldn't put up with his nagging at me if I did that. lol
I do need a days shopping soon, to buy some bits for my holiday next month. Not that we are going abroad, but I might need some more winter clothes for this country, the way our weather is lately.

Huia, let us know if you are still all in one piece love.

I am going for now, but will pop back later to see if there is any news from Puss. Byeeee

AnninGlos Report 11 Apr 2012 17:23

Hello all, I seem to not have been on here for a couple of days sorry. So busy coping with these new teeth of OH's that I don't know where I am Lol!!! Have managed to make a few cards which I took to the CRUK shop this morning. OH went to golf so I went into town on my own for a change. Amazing how much more quickly I can get around town on my own.

Caz, my daughter did loads of jigsaws while recovering from her op, all 1000 piece ones. I suppose at least they have told you it is going to take a long time for your ankle to heal, better than fobbing you off with this and that medication.

Sylvia, ooh, that is a lot of snow for April, still I am sure theya re used to it and prepared. I hope your friend can enjoy his birthday on his level, sad for the rest of you who remember him as he was though.

Puss, nice to see you on here. Hope the scan went OK.

Mo, I have not got a clue about darts, can't throw them, can't play. It is very strange if I ever try to throw them my fingers just seem to freeze and the dart won't leave my hand!! Weird I am :-D

Huia, I wouldn't know what to do with a circular saw and have no intention of learning. The idea of you wealding one, I am in awe!!

Sallie, hope you get on ok with the counsellor and that you soon start to feel better. :-) :-)

Sallie

Sallie Report 11 Apr 2012 17:04

Hello everyone,

Mo, I pulled the muscle in my back just by coughing and moving very, very slightly. I've had this cough for a few weeks, after having the virus that I picked up 7weeks ago. Goodness knows where Jennie, Michael, Alun and myself picked it up from, but I do know that although it's a lot better than it's been, it's taking it's time to clear competely.

Do you still play darts on a Thursday night? I'm sure you have already told me, but have forgotten what you you said.......it must be old age, my memory isn't as good as it use to be.lol!!

Puss, how did you get on with your scan today? I hope that it went well and with nothing to worry about.

Sylvia, if I remember rightly, I'm sure that you once told us that your daughter lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I didn't realise that there was a cemetry there where some of the victims of the Titanic are buried. I expect you knew about it and maybe even visited it.

Caz, hope your ankle is feeling a bit easier today and you are not in so much pain. I also loved to do jigsaws, but it's a good few years since I've done one.
My friends husband spends a good bit of the weekend doing them......he's addicted to them, I think.lol!!

Ann, Joyce, Marie and Linda, hope you are all okay.

Having problems with Error message again. Just as I was coming to the end of this post I thought I had lost it when the usual Error message came up, even though I hadn't pressed submit it had posted on here......thank goodness, I was pleased that I didn't have to do it all again.

Well ladies, I must go and make the dinner now, so will speak to you all later.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 10 Apr 2012 22:36

Mo, I am extremely cautious when using the circular saw, but still have the cordless phone nearby in case of accident. My dad lost 1and 1/2 fingers on his saw and Phil lost the tip of one finger, so I know how they can bite.

The choc hot cross bun doesnt have spices in it, it is just a rich chocolate flavoured soft bun, with a few fruit in and a cross on top. I wish they would make them all year (minus the cross of course). I keep some in the freezer and if I am going out for the day I take one out, split it and spread with marg, and I can have it for my lunch.

Re pain, a recent article in our paper said that heart attack patients who are given morphine for the pain are less likely to survive than those who dont have it. Apparently the pain sends out a message and some stem cells are recruited to the heart to repair the damaged bit. Presumably the same thing applies with pain in other parts of the body. I usually suffer pain in silence unless it is extreme, then I might take a panadol or some such.

Huia.

Oooh look, I disappear for a while, and I miss everybody, thats just my luck isn't it.

Caz, I am sorry to hear you are still getting that rotten pain in your ankle. You are on pain killers arn't you love, so I wonder why they are not helping you with this situation. I just wish I could wave me magic wand and make everything alright for you, but I know thats not going to happen, so I will send you ((((((((((HUGS)))))))) instead.

Good luck with the scan Puss, let us know how you get on. We will be thinking of you love.
Talking of our playing darts. Both Roly and I have played for donkeys years, and we always play together in the pairs.
We play on the Kent board, a doubles board, and on thursdays I play on a treble board. Both totally different games, but great fun.

Hi ya Sallie,
I am pleased that you are seeing the counsellor at long last. You were so much better after your last session with her, and I'm sure the results will be the same as last time.
It sounds like we are all in the wars at the moment. How on earth did you manage to pull the muscle in your back. Not to much gardening I hope. Thats normally my downfall, when I see a weed, I have to pull it up, and then suffer afterwards. I try to remember to bend my knees, but it's easy to forget isn't it.

Thank you all for the news on Joyce. Fingers crossed that the fitting of the chair lift goes well. It will give Joyce a bit more independance wont it.

Going to my bed now, I am shattered, so I will say goodnight god bless, speak to you all tomorrow. Love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 10 Apr 2012 21:30

Hi Girls, sorry not to have been on here for several days but what with one thing and another I haven't been able to. Last Thursday I had my first appointment with the Counsellor......it went well, I was happy to be able to talk to her again......I have another seven sessions, so hopefully I will feel a lot better by then.

Friday my cousin, her daughter and granddaughter came over to us for the day, so we took them out for lunch.it was lovely to see them all, and to catch up with each others news.

Then on Saturday morning I pulled a muscle in my back it's been very painful so I haven't been able to do very much at all, not even been be able to sit at the computer. It still isn't right but at least I can now sit at the computer for a short while.

Puss, nice to see you on here, as Mo said, this is a lovely happy and friendly thread, where we are all here to help each other when we need it and we all also enoy a good laugh.
Is it tomorrow you have your scan for gall stones? Hope all goes well for you.

Huia, like Mo I haven't heard of chocolate hot cross buns either, as far as I know we only have the traditional ones here in the UK.

Linda, sorry that you are suffering quite a lot with vertigo lately. I hope that you will feel better very soon.

Caz, I'm sorry to hear that your ankle is still very painful.....I hope that the hospital will soon be able to sort out the problem for you.

Mo, we would all be much better off financially if we didn't have to run a car, wouldn't we? As you said. we wouldn't be able to manage without a car though. I just hope that Alun will still be able to drive for many years to come.lol!!

Sylvia, hope all is well with you, OH and your family.

Joyce, hope you are OK. It will be nice when you get your chair lift in on Thurday.Hope it will all go according to plan.

Well girls must have a cuppa now so will speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care.

Hi girls, I have no news as usual, but I will say hello, and welcome Puss, nice to see you on here. Come to think of it, it is a long time since we heard from Marie, hope she is ok. I was speaking to Joyce this morning and she is ok but finding it hard getting around with her poor legs. Talking about legs, I was up during the night for painkillers for my ankle, the pain is going up my leg now so I might go back and have it checked, most likely won't as they told me it would hurt for about a year, lovely, why do these things always happen to me.
My hobbies were birdwatching and walking, can't do either now, the others are cardmaking and jigsaws although I haven't done one for ages, might have to get one out.
My tea is out now so see you later.

No volunteers for the housework I see Puss. Mind you, it's bad enough trying to keep with up with this tip at times.
No one would believe there are only the two of us left at home now.
Roly makes more mess than all my five kids did when they were little, lol
My hobbies these days are my darts, reading and the occasional bit of knitting.
I used to love my line dancing, but as the arthritus got worse, I had to give it up, but I can get my legs moving, when I hear a bit of music, and show the grandchildren up dancing. ( no not dad dancing, but gran dancing) ;-)

No news lately from Ann,Joyce, Caz, Marie and it's been a few days since we heard from our Sallie, I hope everyone is o.k.

Hi girls,
Welcome Lorraine, you will find us all a lovely friendly bunch of people, so pop in and see us whenever you feel like it.

I am sorry I didn't get back to speak to you last night, but my daughter phoned me,and asked if I would like to go to bingo with her.
Now why would I say no, to a good night out with her, just the two of us for a change.
And no, we didn't win worse luck, but I couldn't believe how busy it was there. People must have been really bored, with it being a bank holiday weekend, and decided to get out for a while.

Sylvia, our fish mongers was not open on good friday, but then I think that over the years rules on opening times have changed, and if people want fresh fish they buy it the day before.( so not so fresh after all.)
We love it when we go to a seaside resort where the fish is soooo fresh, and have fish and chips for dinner, coooo yummy. Our local chippies fish does not taste the same.

Oh for goodness sake Linda, that flippin Veritgo is back again. Our Jean suffered with it terribly as well.
The E.N.T specialist might be a very good idea, to get you sorted out once and for all, as you can't go on suffering like this. It was not that long ago, when you were suffering with it before. I hope you feel better soon my love.

Huia, I have never heard of chocolate hot cross buns before.
What a shame about the plug being a sealed one, it would have saved you a lot of messing about, if you could have just taken it of and shoved it through the hole.
You just be very careful with that circular saw. I am just wondering how you would dial for help, if you cut both your hands off. NO dont do it honey. PLEASE,just take care of yourself.

We have just received the reminder about the car road tax renewal. The letter said £210.00 for the year.
Roly phoned them to renew it, and guess what, it's only gone up by another five pounds.
I do wish they would update their paperwork, before they send out reminders. The same thing happened last year for us, and it's a darned nuisance. The knowledge that it is over £200.00 was bad enough, but to find out about the increase on the same day as the reminder, is a bitter pill to have to swallow.
Still, we need the car, so it has to be paid for, by hook or by crook.

I hope to come back later this evening, so hopefully I will speak to you then.
Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 9 Apr 2012 22:19

Hello everybody.

Mo, I cant eat onions either, it is a case of 'dont anybody go to the loo, I will want it soon' so perhaps I also have IBS.

Yes, I still have all my fingers and thumbs. I am very wary when using the circular saw as my dad lost one and a half fingers on his and Phil lost the tip of one finger early on with his circ saw. I take the cordless phone downstairs with me when using it just in case I need to make an emergency call.

I havent drilled the hole yet. Unfortunately the plug I want to put through is a sealed one, cannot be unscrewed. :-|

I buy chocolate hot cross buns these days. They are yummy. I buy lots and freeze them then when I am going out for the day I take one with me for my lunch, plus a slice of cheese and a banana. I only occasionally buy my lunch in town. The advantage of taking my own is that I can stop and eat it whenever and wherever I want.

I have installed some of my photos for my wallpaper or whatever the startup page is called. They change every 15 mins. There is one of a gorgeous sunset (a bit lurid on the screen!) and another of the Hunua Falls in flood with a rainbow in the spray, you can see every drop of water, then there is one of heavy stormclouds over a sunlit paddock, and a pink sunrise (or it could be the sunset) in the east from here, and the last one is one of our native passion flowers, close up. You can see all the grains of pollen. The flower is much smaller than the edible sort.

My photos that have been installed on this new computer are in a different sort of folder from before. I dont like it so will have to try some time to get things back the way they were, but it wont be this week as I have lots of other things to do.

Huia.

Hi Mo

and everyone

another lovely sunny day here.

Mo ......

.................. we have fish on Good Friday, I can remember Mum and Dad always going out on Good Friday morning to the fishmonger to buy the freshest fish they could. He opened until about noon, and then shut for the rest of the day, but had a delivery of fresh caught fish from the coast at around 6 or 7 am..

But, for some reason my family always had Hot Cross Buns on Easter Sunday for breakfast. And that is the tradition we've carried on since we got married. OH never said a word when I suggested it on our second Easter together.

The first Easter we were married was in the US (Texas) ................ and we couldn't find any Hot Cross buns, and couldn't find a recipe to make them.

How glad we were when we found that every bakery in town, even in the supermarkets, had them up here :-D :-D

I just wish they would stop selling them as early as February!

take care

Mo in Kent Report 9 Apr 2012 15:43

Hi girls,
It sounds like our Sylvia and Huia have got our share of the good weather.
It's another wet miserable day yet again today.
I had to go and see my grandaughter today. One of the older ones. For her to sort out my laptop.
You remember my telling you that I had to put it in for repairs. Weeell, when I got it back, they had changed all my settings, and lost all my photo's.
I was really and truly peed off.
Roly said "Right it's going back for them to find them again" ahem, no said I, not till I make sure that I am not wrong and they are hidden else where.
I seached every possible place I could think off, to no avail.
So down I go and see Sasha....cor shes a clever little thing. After much searching, she found them, and reloaded them all in chronological order for me.
Now when I had downloaded them originally, they were just willy nilly everywhere.
I thought I had lost all my photo's of you all, and was sooo down hearted, :-(
but not any more, yippee, I can look at you all when I have spoken to you, and know who the heck I have spoken to. lol
Oh how I wish I had been taught how to use this laptop, as I feel such a narna having to ask the young ones what I should be doing.

Sylv's we had hot cross buns last Friday, as it was good friday, also we had fish.
This is a custom that my parents started with us as children, and has now been carried on by our own children.
I wish I was able to eat Leeks, but anything that is oinion based, is a definate no no as far as I am concerned. My IBS wont allow for me to eat them.

Huia, have you still got all your fingers and thumbs after your carpentry jobs.
When we made a hole for our T.V cable to go through the side of our unit, we took the plug off, and then threaded it through.
Thank goodness they did teach me how to do that in school. lol

Well girls, it's cold roast beef, jacket spuds and beans for dinner tonight, so I will have to go and wash the spuds ready to go in the oven.
Hope to be back later to speak to you. Love Mo xxx
When will you be seeing young MJ next?
