Mo in Kent Report 19 Apr 2012 15:43

Ah yes thats right Huia, I remember now, (about the computer I mean.)
Ugh! a huge flea, oh my word no wonder you were inundated with them 3 months ago.
I certainly dont envy you your having to live with your present guests. I know that living where you do doesn't help the situation, but I still maintain you are stronger than me, I would be pulling my hair out, and be sitting with a shotgun on my lap at night, waiting for them to show their ugly mugs.
I might need to wash the walls down each day, but I would rather do that.
I also agree with both yourself and Lorraine about getting anything unusual checked out.
Thats why I asked my doctor for a health check, after my son had his heart attack.
I would never have known that my cholesterol was as high as it was, had I not gone.
Also many years ago, when I discovered a lump in my breast, that fortunately turned out to be fatty tissue fortunately.
But it's better to get yourself seen, than to worry about it,and leave it till it's to late in the day to get it rectified.

I have spent most of the day,( excuse me for swearing) doing housework.
The bed are all nice and clean, the bedrooms are spick and span, the bathroom thought it was it's birthday, when I washed all the tiles down.
And now, I am completely cream crackered, but, tomorrow it's downstairs turn to be blitzed, I am to whacked to do it today.

Time to think about dinner now, I don't know what to have yet, so I will dive down the bottom of the freezer to see whats there, if I am not back tomorrow, send out the search parties, but make sure you check the freezer first, coz I might end up falling in head first.
Bye for now, take care of yourselves, love Mo xxx

Huia Report 18 Apr 2012 22:32

Hi there Mo. No, I have had this scanner/printer for several years now. It was a computer I bought recently. As for the unwanted guests, I am still catching rats in the traps, 2 recently in the stairs that go up to the attic. One had a huge flea on its tummy so I whisked it out the door pretty quickly. I set off 4 flea bombs about 3 months ago and got rid of the fleas in the house but there are probably plenty in the attic and basement where the rats run around. I will always be fighting rats, living where I do. At least they arent coming into the house as they did last summer. But neither is the cat. She seems scared. I think she is fairly deaf (like me).

Better get going or I will never get to town.

Huia.

ps, I agree with Loraine, dont leave things. I had an itchy lump just inside the vagina. When I eventually was seen by a specialist I was told it was lichen sclerosis and could lead to cancer if left untreated. I am fine now, but have lots of the ointment I can apply if I think it is coming back.

It's so nice to hear that it's good news for you Puss. It must have been such
a relief for you knowing that the polyp and cyst were non malignant.
Now that they have put your mind at ease, you can relax and try to enjoy life.
Six monthly checks will soon extend to yearly and after that longer periods.
You have done so well, keep strong and know that we are all wishing you well, and are here for you at all times.

Huia, am I right in thinking that you only recently bought a new scanner and printer.? If so, is it still under guarantee, if it is, if I were you I would take it back and get them to check it over for you, as it should be working to it's fullest extent love.
You are so unlucky with some things arn't you honey.
By the way, have all your house guests gone now,(the unwanted ones I mean lol)

Caz, it's nice to hear you are enjoying your being spoilt by your O.H. Take advantage of it while you can, and then next week peace will reign, and you will miss the noise I bet.
Have you heard from Joyce lately. I know your phone was playing up, but I assume im indoors has got it sorted for you.

Sylvia, how great that J+M are coming to see you in July. Just imagine how big M.J will seem now, and little man would have changed beyond recognition in his personality as well.
How sad that your friend was noticeably worse, and heartbreaking for his wife.

Not any new news to tell you girls i'm afraid. It's horrible weather here at the moment, freezing cold, and chucking it down with rain.
Take care, love Mo xxx

It's good news that you got this morning and the oncologist isn't worried. I will keep fingers crossed for you in future. Are you ok otherwise, I hope you are well.

Huia Report 18 Apr 2012 10:00

I have decided to buy a new scanner/printer tomorrow as the one I have is refusing to print anything from my computer. I dont know if the lightning strike I had a couple of months ago affected it. I can use it as a photocopier, putting things down on the glass and printing a copy, but nothing from the computer :-| What is the betting I will get it working properly after I buy a new one? It could be that the new computer just does not recognise such an old printer. Ah well, easy come, easy go.

Ann, thanks for passing on Jean's message to me. I hadn't received her email, but have emailed her now....just hope that she receives it.

Sylvia, sorry to hear about your friend, Alzheimers is a horrible disease. I know how you feel as we have two in our family that suffer from it. Although Alun's brother-in-law has had since he was 58 and he's now 66. He can only say one word and the rest is just just gibberish, I could cry each time we see them.
My cousin has had it for about 18months, and like your friend she doesn't start to make conversation, but smiles and responds to anyone that speaks to her.
I hope that your friend will not get worse by the time J&M visit him in July.

Speak to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Puss my ankle seems to be getting better, not so painful to walk on, the doc said it would be nearly a year before it's completely right again. I'm still resting it so could get quite lazy, I quite like it, lol.
It's been realy cold here today and we had hail yesterday, snow has been given out for the weekend.
Hope your all ok.

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Apr 2012 19:34

hi everyone

we had a lovely sunny, warm weekend. Today .. it's rainy, grey and quite a bit chillier!

Mo ........... our friend was noticeably worse than the last time we saw him, just about a month ago. He did know about the dinner and who was going to be there, although there was one surprise guest he did not know about. There was another afternoon party for less close friends on Saturday afternoon, and he was only told about that on Friday morning.

He sits there, smiling benignly, doesn't initiate any conversation but does respond appropriately when people talk to him. Some of us told stories of years ago ....... and he was nodding and saying yes, yes, quite appropriately, so he was remembering those times.

But the "moment" is different. He has very little short term memory, OR he does remember, but not with any concept of time.

His wife had told him we were arriving on Thursday ........... apparently he was outside waiting for us on Tuesday and Wednesday ......... and was standing outside the gate when we drove up the drive on Thursday.

It's rather like having a child ....... constant repetition about when something is happening, or what not to do!!

I feel so sad ......... he was a brilliant man, very well known around the world in his area of expertise. He was still doing consulting work in the US a year ago.

J&M are coming over in July for 2 weeks, and he is her godfather, so they plan on going to stay there for a few days. I just hope that he has not got too much worse by then. J phoned him the day before his birthday, so also knows some of the problems of talking to him.

I should explain the "gate" ........... deer are very common everywhere over here, we even occasionally see them in Vancouver. If you have a garden in a more countrified area, you HAVE to protect it from the deer, otherwise it becomes their dinner table :-D

Most people surround their back gardens with high (4-6') fences and gates to keep the deer out. Some will make an attempt to protect their front gardens, but most don't plant anything of great importance there.

Take care everyone

If you are looking in Jean I can't get in touch with you so I will write when I have time. We have brought our old one out but it has a cord attached so we have to stand there to talk. Joyce will be ringing tomorrow so that should be fun, stood there for nearly an hour, lol.
Sylvia, you describe a beautiful picture of the mountains, wish I could see them, Oops tea is out so see you all later. Should realy start writing this sooner.

AnninGlos Report 16 Apr 2012 16:33

Sallie, so pleased that Jennie is feeling better.
I am sure that you are doing the right thing with cards. If you don't feel like making them they usually go wrong anyway so making two at a time when you feel like it is the way to go. :-)

Sallie

Sallie Report 16 Apr 2012 15:54

Hello Girls,

Well we had a bit of good news today, Jennie went to see the Rheumatologist at the hospital this morning and it seems that the problem she had with arthritis in her knee wasn't anything to do with her having Chrohn's but with the virus that she was suffering at the time. We ae so pleased that it wasn't caused by her having Crohn's as that on it's own is more than enough for her to have to cope with.

Mo, how are things with your son now? I hope that the Specialist he's seen at the hospital have been able sort out the problem for him.

Thank you for passing on Jean's message, I didn't make any this year as I haven't been able to concentrate very well......although I did make two birthday cards for Christie and two for my friend's husband
last week, I was quite pleased with them. I have found that if I make a couple at a time just for close family and friends, I can cope better ......it's when I have a lot to make my mind just goes blank.
So I'm just going to take slowly and only do a couple at a time.

When you are next in touch with Jean, could you please thank her for the lovely Easter card we had off her and Jeff.
It would be nice if she if she rejoined GR some time, I miss seeing her on here. We'll all keep our fingers crossed that she will.

If you have a darts match tonight, hope you and your team will win. Good Luck!

Sylvia, glad to know that you and OH had a nice few days away and that the party went well.

Huia, hope that all went well for your sister's birthday party and that you enjoyed yourself. Did you sing as you said you would?

Ann, I've spoken to you on Shaun's thread. Hope you and T had a good weekend at your daughter's.

Caz, hope your phone is working alright now. I haven't heard from Joyce since last week. Hope she's had her chair lift put in by now and with no problems.

Hope that your ankle is not as painful as it's been. We don't have any garden to do here now, when we had the extension done eight years ago we had the front bricked so that we could put a couple of cars on it.......so we only have a few tubs to look after now. We also had slabs and chippings put on the back with some tubs here and there so that in the summer we have a bit of colour.

Puss, hope all went well for you at the Breathing Clinic today.
Enjoy yourself at the Abergavenny meet this week.

Joyce, if you are looking in, hope you and Jan are both alright. I will be in touch with you soon. Over the last couple of weeks we have spent a bit of time in Jennie's each evening while Michael has been in work, with her feeling so much better we won't be spending as much time there now.

Linda, how are things with you and your family? I hope you are all altight.

Well I had better go and start preparing the dinner now, so will speak to you all again soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Sorry Mo and Ann I just missed you both.xx

Puss, I hope things went well at the clinic.
Mmmm marmite crisps, now I like them, but I dont like marmite on toast, it tastes to strong for me, I bet little one got more than you, out of that bag of crisps.
Now now girl, no cruelty to O.H's today. If he knocks your beads flying again, then thats the time to attack with the axe. ( But I didn't say that, I shall deny everything incriminating ) lol
I think my OH wants something, coz he has just made me a cup of tea, huh, he's out of luck, I have spent all my money.

I wonder where everyone has got to today, it's very quiet on the boards.

I hope Ann got back safetly, but I bet she's up to her eyeballs in washing after her weekend away.

Think I will need to get myself a biscuit, this teas to wet without one.
See you later. Love Mo xxx
