LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 29 May 2012 11:38

Morning everyone
It is lovely again here in Berkshire this morning. Have been in the garden doing some drastic pruning. How do shrubs grow overnight? Well the front and side look much better now and we have also planted 3 more things out so they can grow big too. Shame the garden could really do with some water. Not that I really want the weather to change as it certainly lifts my spirits to see some sunshine.

Still crocheting a blanket for the new baby expected in September. Have a small pile of hats ready for the prem unit but not enough to make a special journey yet.

Have been enjoying some nice BBQ's with our family, so nice to be able to eat together and outside too. Our son only has a small lounge so can really only entertain when it is warm and dry.

Not sure what we will do this afternoon but hope everyone has a lovely day.

Huia I would hate your problem and admire your dealing with it so well.

Hello again dejay. No the rats dont keep me awake as I am a bit deaf and when I have my head on the pillow I cant hear a thing. My son heard them racing around in the attic when he stayed here a few months ago, which is why I am now setting traps, but lately the rats I have caught have all been in the workshop which is in the basement. When they get caught by one or both front feet I sing 'Oooh, ahh, eek' as I try to kill them when they are swinging and jiggling in the trap. It is tied by string to a shelf, otherwise they could disappear with the trap into a hard-to-get-at place. My husband is in care with alzheimers, but he used to deal with them.

I take it you live in England?

Hey Hey Hey, Huia and I are now joined via Facebook. It took a lot of searching though, and it's a good job Huia had her sensible head on, coz silly billy me couldn't find her.
Ann's posting to Huia made me realise that Huia had got through to my account at last.
So thanks Ann, you did me a favour indirectly, by opening the gateway for the connection. You all know what a dappy mare I can be at times lol ;-)

Oooh Huia, I just read what you wrote about the rats, and I am just about to have dinner, Gammon Steaks and Salad, and to be honest, I think I will ditch the gammon and just eat the salad.
Rats jiggling yuk.
Luvs ya anyway. Mo xxx

Yesterday I had another rat dangling from the trap. This one was caught by both front feet. I think I will have to ask the chemist if I can have some ether or chloroform to knock them out so I can knock them out good and proper. They jiggle and swing so much when the trap is dangling, it makes it hard to finish them off.

Mo, I think I found your name on FB at last, with the pic you described, so I sent a Friend request. Hopefully that will open our pages up to each other. I did try to look at yours but it was not very forthcoming, so presumably the same security.

Oooh Lorraine your garden sounds fantastic. So full of fruits, grown all by your own fair hands, and making jams from them would be great.
Still no sign of the seeds that I planted in their little trays, I reckon they are going to end up growing at the other side of the world, so keep your eyes open Huia, Sylvia and Marie, if they start to sprout in your gardens, please return to sender, moi lol.
I like having my patio set out in the back garden, it's a proper sun trap out there, and sooo quiet and relaxing, you would enjoy it Lorraine.
Bless your daughter, looking after her lickle brother like that. Remember he is a man, and would be likely to forget something, so daughter was very considerate towards him. After all he doesn't need bad breath doing that half marathon, surrounded by loads of lovely people. lol
Good luck for tomorrow at the stall.
Night Night god bless, Mo xxx

Mo, there are no messages from you on my FB page. There are several other people on FB with my first and last names. Did you find me with my middle name included? I looked for you. There were 2 people with your first and last name, but I couldnt tell if one of them might be you.

No Mo, I didnt see you had found me on FB. I dont look in there very often.

I got rid of the rat but noticed a flea jump off it. I hope it didnt jump onto me. I think I will have to get a flea bomb for setting off in the basement. The trouble is I will have to keep the cat out of there for several hours.

Christchurch had a very small earthquake when we were down there about 30 yrs ago. Nothing like the ones they are having these days though.

Ugh, quick Huia, get that dreaded rat out darn fast mate. Did you see that I found you on F.B ?

Christchurch get lots of earth tremors don't they. I certainly wouldn't like to live there. I know it looks lovely, but being a coward I would be forever afraid a quake was going to happen.

Hi Ann, glad you got home safe and sound. Have a good nights sleep love.

Night Night god bless. Love Mo xxx

Huia

Huia Report 25 May 2012 22:36

Mo, the earthquakes were near Christchurch, and I am a long way from there, up near Auckland. There were some smaller earthquakes in the southern part of the North Island a little while back but I didnt feel them either.

There is a rat dangling in the trap downstairs, I must go and remove it before it starts to liquify and drip all over the floor. Ugg.
