Mo in Kent Report 21 Jun 2012 16:41

Hello girls,
Well before I go any further....Huia, fancy letting someone fiddle around in Phils underwear, I bet he thought his luck had changed ;-).
You know I am only kidding you my love. It must have been quite degrading for him, bless him, but thank the lord he wont need to have the op done.

Marie, I can't get used to seeing the name Zack instead of Marie.
You are good rewashing all the clothing you are donating, I bet they were not even dirty.
I didn't realise that Kerry Ann, had had to have the spinal operation. Is this a long standing problem that she has had?
I do hope she starts to recover quickly, and that the op was a success.
The time to start worrying is when Jean and I stop taking the mickey out of each other. You know what they say, great minds think alike, and we have both got such warped senses of humour.
Bless little Abigail, there is nothing sweeter than a childs sayings.

Liz, I can't believe your F.I Law, getting out and watering the garden like that, but then we are all creatures of habit. And he obviously felt up to doing it, even though physically he shouldn't have done it.
If it's anything like down here, we have had so much rain we have been thinking about building an ark.

Sylvia, I have got to go tomorrow, for my blood test, but mine is for cholesterol. I have been on the statins for three months now, and I am hoping and praying that the level has dropped.
Fortunately, my glucose levels were fine three months ago, so fingers crossed that hasn't changed either.
My Roly is on tablets for his diabetes, but I make sure we both eat healthily, so I couldn't understand why we both have been hit by diabetes and high cholesterol. I suppose it's as the doctor said, it's what the body is making, rather than what we are eating.

Caz,how long have you had that kidney infection now? It's taking such a long time to clear itself love isn't it. No wonder you have been feeling so run done.
I didn't realise that Joyce was over here, please give her my love when you speak to her.

My future daughter in law, has had to go and buy baby Lilly a toy pushchair, because when she goes to pick her up from nursery, she tries to walk out with the one she has been playing with.
She hasn't left it alone since it was bought for her yesterday, and walks aound the house pushing her little dolly in it.
I didn't think they made them for children of her age, but hey ho, what do I know.
I had been looking to buy her one for christmas, because by then she will be nearly two, and just the right size and age for it. I thought they started at the age of three, but because Lilly is such a tall girl, would be just the right height for one. So it's back to the drawing board as to what to buy her. lol

Must go and start dinner now, fish and chips home made for dinner tonight.
Speak to you all tomorrow. Love and hugs Mo xxx

Huia Report 21 Jun 2012 10:43

The female doc decided Phil had a couple of hernias, but she was able to manipulate them back into place. She did call the boss man through and he agreed with her that an operation is not necessary unless they strangulate, as operations on people Phil's age and condition are not always a good idea. I had to stand at the head of the couch and hold Phils hands so the doc and carer could get 'into' his pants to feel the hernias. What an indignity for him, all us women ganging up on him.

Zack Report 21 Jun 2012 10:04

Hello to you all, Hi Liz Nice to see your photoI would put one on but I dont know how to do it, not very good at new things.
I am well still going to the Gym it was water aerobics to-day it is now 6.25 pm 21st June and the shortest day of the year for us in Aust, it is freezing cold the frost looked like Snow when I stuck my head out this morning.
I am having a big clean out of all my older clothing the Sallies and St.Vincent De Paul are calling for warm clothing, Blanket's and donations so out it goes, I have spent the day washing my woollens and clothing so that it will be smelling clean and fresh when I take them in.

My Daughter Kerry Ann had her spinal operation to-day she went in at 1pm and has only just gone back to the ward, they kept her in recovery for a long time, my granddaughter rang and said she is ok ,in some pain and very groggy, they wont see the Doctor until to-morrow ,I pray that the operation was successful.
Caz I am sorry to hear you have had akidney infection ,not a nice thing too have, hope you are feeling better.

Hi Sylvia, I too have had a glucose tolerance test and I am now off sugar doing well, but I do miss the sugar in my tea and the ocassional sweet Dessert

I have never been a lover of sweets but cream spongers YES I miss them I am now liking more savories and I have always liked cheese, a good thing I have lost about a kilo in weight.

Hi Huia, I hope Phil doesn't have a hernia and wont need an operation. Are you still cleaning up , trying to sort things out,you were awhile back, are you still getting a lot of rain ? as we are 1 or 2 days of Sunshine then a week of miserable weather and so cold., I cant get to do very much in the garden
we seem to be having a lot of westerly winds and of course it brings the rain in winter.
Well folks, Doweton Abbey is back on this is the 2nd Seaeon for us, I do like watching it . <3
Hello Jean and Mo so nice to see you still taking the mickey out of each other ,I get a good LOL when I read you posts.
Sallie I hope you are well also your hubby and daughter.
How is Ann,is she and her hubby away on holidays.

Our little Abigail had her 5th birthday on the 19thJune she told me that she did not need to hold hands now but her mother quickly told her she still had to hold hands while crossing the road , but quick as a wink she replied, not while we are shopping, she was a big girl now.LOL <3

I guess it is time I closed Love and Hugs to you all ;-) <3 :-)

Marie ;-)

Hi all

Jean, glad you are starting to feel better and thinking about a little holiday, the costs are high tho aren't they? You would think people would be happier having more bookings at a slightly lower cost. They are just greedy with some of the prices asked, no bargains in Llanelli this year, I think lots of the people we rented those apartments from are renting them out long term or selling them off.

Huia, hope Phil hasn't got a hernia as it will be uncomfortable for him and a worry if he has to have an op. O.h.'s father is home from hospital now and no further problems with the kidney stone removal altho he still needs a hip replacement but that needs his blood sorted out more before the longer op I think. Silly old sod watered his garden a few hours after getting home, he reckoned no one had done it - well his wife is tiny and has osteoporosis so not strong enough to do much but she had told him she had done some watering. O.h. told him off and said don't ask for sympathy if you are going to be so stupid as to garden after an op etc The old man said Well no one did the watering, but he hadn't asked his daughter, s.i.l. or neighbour to help out and it has been very wet this week altho nice days for the last couple or three. More rain to come today I think and then even worse for the weekend.

Caz, hope you are feeling stronger - kidney infections do take it out of you don't they? Sorry I haven't phoned, had lots going on here but will catch up with you soon.

To everyone else, take care, I do think about you all

Hi Mo, and everyone
xxxx

It was the longest day of the year here today (June 20).

Summer officially arrived late this afternoon.

Dawn arrived some time just after 4 am, and it won't get dark until after 9 pm.

It has actually been a lovely day .......... sunny, blue skies, and warm.

Unfortunately, summer is not going to last .................. clouds over late tomorrow (June 21), and rain on Friday and through the weekend :-( :-(

June is heading to break records for cold and amount of rain .................. and there are threats of potential big flooding as the snows melt and more and more rain falls.

I went to the doctor's today to get the result of the glucose tolerance test I did a couple of weeks ago. My glucose level is slightly elevated, so pre-diabetic ........... he said it's a "warning".

I have to continue to modify my diet, do more exercise, try to lose more weight ............ and go back in 2-3 months. He gave me a requisition to have a fasting blood test, so that I could get it done before going for that appointment.

Huia Report 20 Jun 2012 20:28

Hello all, I am still around, I read the threads but dont always add. Today I am going to meet Phil and his carer at the Super Clinic. I think she said something about a hernia. Afterwards I might follow them back to the home. I have shopping to do on the way home.

I'm here now Mo, I haven't been very well with a kidney infection, not nice. I haven't heard from Joyce today as she is over here in Sheffield but she said she would ring me tonight.
The weather is changing, it's been nice but clouds have come over and the wind is getting up a bit wild. The big beech tree across the road is really blowing sidewards.
I have no news as I never go anywhere so I shall leave you now.

I say Mrs Saucy Jean, just coz I live darn sarf, dont mean I am a foreigner, strange I may be, but nuffin else. lol
It's such a relief that the tablets are working, and that you are feeling more like your normal cheeky self. Poor J, he's such a brave man, having to take your banter all day long. Give him a hug from me, and tell him to stay strong, and get some ear plugs. ;-)
Hows D doing now? Is she doing her degree?
I know what you mean about the prices of self catering holidays. It works out cheaper to go abroad full board, than having a weeks holiday in this country s/catering.
Have you any ideas as to where you would like to go. Presumably it would need to be not to far to drive to from your house.
Have you heard from Caz or Joyce lately Jean? Only it seems ages since we heard from them.
Come to think of it, Sallie has been missing for a while now. Lets hope and pray she is o.k.

We went to pick Roly's new glasses up today. Walking back along the high street, he asked me if I liked his new glasses....uhm I have to be honest, I thought he still had his old ones on. Well, if he will always chose the same frames, how am I supposed to know that he's got the new ones on. ( and no Jean, I dont need new specks, I only picked my new ones up last week )
Silly old sausage that he is, if he had walked out and said to me, do you like them, I might have noticed, and not dropped myself in it. lol But then thats me all over, always putting my foot in it.

I hope you are all still enjoying the lovely weather, but dont get to used to it, it's supposed to be raining tomorrow again huh.

Sending love to Huia,Sylvia and Marie over the waters, hope you are all o.k

Bye for now girls, love and hugs Mo xxx <3 <3 <3

I know what you mean Huia, about the type of bra your grandaughter would like.
My grandaughters are all aged between 17 months and 25 years old, and the eldest ones, wear those bits of string things called thongs. I did buy a pair at one time, but Ooooh they kept getting stuck in the most uncomfortable of places, so I gave up and went back to my Bridget Jones big drawers, far more comfy I must say.
Have you added any more photo's to F.B lately Huia?
Nothing much has been happening today, so I have no news to impart.
I hope Ann is enjoying her holiday.
Jeanieeeeee how are you feeling today my lickle love.
See you all tomorrow. Love Mo xxx

Mo, my granddaughter is 16. She has apparently googled bras, and she has a particular brand in mind as she doesnt want any 'granny bras'. Which is what mine would be considered.

Oh boy oh boy, we are a poorly lot arn't we.
Jean, I am going to come up there and kick you up the BTM girl. Get well soon my lovely one. Keep taking the tablets, you will soon be back to normal sweetie..........( hmm now I am a bit gob smacked at what I have just said, normal ,silly me, it is our Jean I am talking about here, and she is a friend of mine, so how can she be normal. lol) Luf ya babes.
Please wish J a lovely birthday from me please. He has come so far in this last year, and we can thank the lord for that.

Thank goodness you are recovering well Huia love. Have you had any good bargains lately from the hospice shop.?
How old is the grandaughter who has to have the new bra's. It would seem she needs something like a size 34 over here.
Youngsters seem to get bought bra's so much younger these days. I believe
I read that some mums were buying them for children as young as six. Now that is rediculous isn't it. They are not even developing at that age.

Liz, your OH's family never change do they love. It would be nice if your son could find work, it would give him back his self confidence, which after all this time, must be depressing for him bless him.
But jobs are sooo hard to find these days, not like back in the late fifties and early sixties, when you could leave one job, and fall straight into another one the next day.

Must go and start the dinner now girls, my poor belly thinks my throats been cut.
Love to all, Mo xxx

Huia Report 18 Jun 2012 08:19

Mo, I feel as fit as a fiddle. No problems, at least that I am aware of. I went to see my daughter this morning to give her some money to get some bras for her daughter who needs a size 12 H. I dont know what the English equivalent is for that but my 16 E is 38 E in England, so perhaps 12 H is 34 H. She needs to go to Papakura or Auckland to get them as she cant get them in Pukekohe.

I then went to Papakura and spent the afternoon in the hospice shop. I am working there again tomorrow afternoon.

Huia.

Hi all,

It's a shame Jean is poorly again, I think today is her hubby's bday too so if Jean is reading this, please wish J. a happy birthday and you get well soon.

O.h. went to see his Dad yesterday, he took a cooked pizza and shared it with his Dad, sis and b.i.l. so it made the day like their usual Sunday morning visits, poor old boy in the next bed was trying to sleep but o.h. said he thinks they kept him awake, typically selfish of o.h.'s family, and I thought there weren't supposed to be more than two at the bed but with his Dad's wife too (vegan so wouldn't eat pizza) he had 4 visitors at a time, bet they did make a racket too. He came home and spoke to the son in UK and got all stroppy afterwards cos son said he didn't want to discuss the other brother, seems it's all o.h. thinks about and yes,he is too blind to see, he has been told by many people he's made a rod for his own back. He complains if he doesn't get overtime at work, does 6 days a week including a 12 hr day once a week and then sends the money to the son, instead of paying off his mortgage as he has wanted to do for ages.
Because of the distance and now the quarrel with his d.i.l. we haven't seen the baby (now 20 months old) for ages, he saw her in March I think it was when he fell out with the d.i.l. on the visit, and I haven't seen her since her 1st bday at Halloween. As I am not related to her in any way I am not that bothered, I did my best at first but it's obvious there are more than enough people to spoil her and I can do without the hassle, as if anything goes wrong any more, it's sure as eggs are eggs I would get the blame, it's happened before with the son in US before he went away, so he has no time for me, and me none for him. He knows I can see right through his charm offensives and now his grandfather is annoyed at something the US grandson wrote on facebook so is sort of disowning him - what a lot they are!

Anyway better get off to bed, hope everyone has a good week and all the health queries and hassles work out ok for Lilly, Huia, Jean and all those with problems (too many for my poor old brain to list)

love

Hellooooo my lovelies.
It's been lovely catching up with all your news.

So pleased you had a restful break Linda, and that your daughter was able to recouperate in nice weather.
Having the baby with you, makes for a different kind of holiday doesn't it. Well thats how we felt, especially as Lilly is at the age where she is so entertaining, for us that is. She kept us both sane funnily enough. It was like when our children were younger, keeping them amused, helped us to enjoy ourselves. I know that that probably sounds daft, but after a while, conversation seems to stop between the adults, and then you entertain the children and it breaks up the monotony.
I bet the curry made by the Ghurka's was deliciouse.

My word Sylvia, it sounds like you were nearly giving your OH a heart attack spending money on clothes, but good on you love. You couldn't miss such bargains like that could you now. lol
Retail theraphy is wonderful, and can heal the blues any day ;-)

No more news on Lilly, apart from the fact that she has now gone from being sick, to being constipated.....oh when will this poor child be sorted out.

Ann, I had a message from our Jean, and she is not to well, so will be visiting the doctor tomorrow.
Bless her, she Caz and Joyce don't have very much luck with their health do they.
Sending <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 to them all.
I hope the weather has brightened up for you Ann, and that you both are enjoying yourselves up there on the Lakes.

I wonder if Huia is o.k after her exploratory the other day. Keep your pecker up Huia (((((((((Hugs for you))))))))

Liz, how is your father in law doing now, after his surgery.
Sooo your OH is still supporting his son in the US financially. Silly old so and so, he cant see what the boy is doing can he. Still they say that theres none so blind, as those that can't see, and im indoors cant see any further than the end of his nose.
Do you get to see the baby now? I can't remember how the little one is now, but I know that it's not a newby anymore.

Sallie, did you manage to get up to town?
I hope you are feeling better now my love, and that the black dog is leaving you.
When has Jennie got to have her MRI scan, has she got her appointment through yet.
If it's anything like here, she will be waiting a long time. Poor J and Lilly are still waiting to hear about whats happening with them.

Got to go now girls, take care, love to all Mo xxx

Afternoon everyone
Well I am back from my travels and it was a lovely restful break for all of us, thankfully.
Our daughter was able to come and had a relatively peaceful time to recooperate.
The baby is a joy, he was so good on the flight and at most other times though he did have his mum up a couple of times in the early hours and they went for a walk seeeing a wild boar on one early morning trek !!
The weather was great, sunny, some gusty winds when down by the pool, but hot for the later half of the week. A delayed flight home yesterday.... because of heavy winds in London on the incoming flight.

Have been to the Heritage Day at Sandhurst Royal Accademy today. It was a nice time too. The weather lasted for us and we ate a tasty curry prepared by the Ghurkas.
I got one wash dry while we were out and have another spinning round now.

Hope Jean is OK, Caz too and all others with any problems. Any news on Lilly yet Mo ? hope J is feeling better too. So many worries for everyone.

Gosh

no-one has been here for over 24 hours

I hope that means that everyone has been busy enjoying themselves :-D

I was out for most of the day

I went downtown for some retail therapy

It's months since I felt able to go down there, and go to my favourite store

and boy, did I choose a good day!!

They were having this sale of 25-40% off everything regardless of whether it was new stock or had already been reduced. PLUS another 25% off if one used the store's own credit card ........... which I always do.

I got a lovely very fine silk (literally see-through) paisley scarf, one of the long narrow ones .............. was $70, reduced 50%, reduced another 25%, and then reduced 25% again. Final price ... just under $20 :-D :-D :-D

I actually went down to get a couple of tops (having gone through my closet a few weeks ago and thrown out a lot) .........................

I came home with a skirt, 2 tops, 2 light weight open-weave open-front short-sleeve cardigans, 2 nighties, a dressing gown, and 3 scarves, all for a little over 50% of what they should have cost

OH asked a couple of times, if I really needed what I had bought.

Of course I did! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

It poured with rain all day though, so it was a matter of dodging from shop awning to shop awning!

Huia, glad that is over for you and that you didn't suffer any ill effects from the procedure.

Julia you are very welcome on the thread of course, good to see you.

Has nobody heard from that Jean? :-(

Sallie hope you made it to the shops. One thing I don't have to force myself to do :-D

Sylvia, good job you have an efficient taxi service then, I had not realised that you walked with a cane, but thn why should I?

Sallie Report 15 Jun 2012 15:45

Hi Julia,

Nice to hear from you, as you say we don't seem to be able to catch up with each other.....you would think that we would see each other at one of the garden centres, although we tend to go to the one at Little Eaton a lot more......like the Craft Centre there.

Yes Jennie is very brave not to have any medication before having a Colonoscopy......I know I wouldn't be able to do that. She feels so awful after having medication that she thinks that the discomfort of the Colonoscopy is preferable.
Her Consultant usually does it for her and she says that she is very good and as gentle and careful as she can be. I know one time one of the doctors under the Consultant did it and Jennie said he wasn't as careful as his boss.lol!! It's just as well that Jennie has a positive attitude and a sense of humour.

How are things going with you Julia? Have they found out what is wrong yet? Hope that you are feeling better than you have been and not had too many problems.

Well I had better go and start preparing our dinner before Alun get's home.
Hope to speak to you again soon. Thank you for your Good Luck wishes for Jennie.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xx
