hmmmmmmmmmmm

I thought I had posted on here last night ??????

Hi Mo

and everyone

We had a good time up north. Stayed in town, and drove the 60 km to the cabin each day. The weather had been wetter than usual (surprise, surprise!!) ....... so the grass and Marguerite daisies were almost waist high!

As the lawn mower was among the items that "walked" back in May, OH had to use the weed eater to make a path down the driveway to the gate (only about 200' long), around the outside of the gate, and from the drive to the cabin. He managed to do some painting outside, and chopped the trunks of a couple of trees that had fallen across the farm road down to the flat meadow and creek .............. cutting out chunks of the trunks wide enough to walk through.

We thought the 4 or 5 trees that had fallen since last year had all been blown down during the winter ....... but he discovered that 2 of the ones across the farm road were actually "helped" on their way by BEAVERS!!! Both had had their trunks gnawed away near the base ..... it looks just like a tree faller would have done if cutting down a tree. AND they were both very big trees!

We brought away some more stuff ............... and now have a very nice patio set of aluminium and glass table and 4 chairs on our sun deck. We've never had a good set down here before

We'll go back up for 3 or 4 days in 2 or 3 weeks time, so OH can finish painting the outside ...... then we'll see where we go with selling it.

We had the strangest weather last night .................... thunder, lightening, and very heavy rain "squalls". It began just before 7 pm, and lasted until around midnight.

Today it is cloudy, and very much cooler than it has been ................... the temperatures here in Vancouver were above 30C from about last Friday or Saturday through until Monday, then dropped slightly ............. to about 27C

Himself has been sleeping in the basement since we got back ..... it is very cool down there (he's even needed a quilt). I can't sleep on that bed, so I've stayed in the bedroom, with 2 fans blowing on me, and just a sheet for covering.

We've both slept very well :-D :-D :-D

take care everyone

Hi girls,
My laptop is back in the lappy horsespital, and I can pick it up tomorrow.
Somehow I got a virus, and it locked me out of Face Book and other sites,so we got a technician to give it a once over, and clean it up for me.
I wouldn't mind but my son cleaned it up on Saturday, and blow me down it went again last night.

Huia you were missed honey. You go ahead and spend your money love, and enjoy doing so.
You get loads of bargains from the hospice shop don't you.
How is Phil getting along now? And hows that lovely great grandson of yours.

Ann, Roly takes his aids out at night as well. Goodness knows what would happen if we had a burgler, he would never hear them, and I would have to shake him well to wake him up, and probably get bashed on the head for my trouble, either by him or the burgler. lol

Has anyone heard how Caz is please.

It is obviously too tempting for you Huia, what did you get for that amount?

Jean, sorry you are suffering again, and I don't suppose the new board colours help you much either. I hope you can quickly get over this bout as you must be due to go on your hols soon.

Mo I put my aids in when I get up and take them out when I go to bed.

Huia Report 7 Aug 2012 22:46

Hi there, to those that have missed me, I am still around. I look in at least once a day - usually more often - but dont post so much. Yesterday I had an early phone call asking if I could do the afternoon in the hospice shop for somebody else, so I went in. I wasnt going to buy anything, but finished up buying things which totalled $35 but the boss gives us a discount and it finished up at $18. I think I will have to leave my purse and cards at home. :-(

Hi Jean, sorry to hear that the old problem is back again honey. You will have to get back to your doctor, and get some more tablets to help you.
Love and big hugs for you, Mo xxx

Mo in Kent Report 7 Aug 2012 19:46

Sallie, Linda has got Labrynthitus, it's in the same kind of problem as Jean with her Vertigo, I believe.
It's a problem that keeps coming back and plaguing (sp) the pair of them.
You cant use the excuse of not being able to hear Alun now when he speaks to you, lol. Roly does that to me at times, and then I realise he hasn't put his aid in yet. I'm sure he does it on purpose, so that he gets some peace and quiet.
He has to go to the hospital every so often to get it retubed, it's part of his after care programme.
Love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 7 Aug 2012 19:37

Ann, we have a small hospital in Ilkeston not too far from us, we always had to go there for blood tests but since we've had the new surgery we can get our blood taken there. It's a lot easier for Alun now,as they start most mornings at 6-30 a.m. so he can get it done before going to work. An added bonus is that some of the doctors appointments now start at 7.00 a.m where in the past the earliest appointment was at 8.30 a.m.

It's a shame that they haven't even started building your new surgery.
It didn't take them too long building ours, it was built on the same site as our old one and was built in two stages. Everybody was commenting on how big it was for a GP practice, but of course with all the other things going on there we now understand why it's so big.

Mo, I thought the same as Ann about Roly's hearing aid as mine whistles if the volume is set too high. Hope he can get it sorted soon, it must really get on his nerves.

Oh what a way for for your granddaughter's boyfriend to behave, he sounds just like a spoilt child that can't get his own way. I'm sure your granddaughter must have felt so embarrassed and wished that she wasn't with him.

Joyce nice to see you post on here too. Hope you manage to get some shoes that you are able to wear, if you are wearing a long dress I wouldn't be too worried about the kind of shoes they are as long as they are comfortable.

Well, my hearing aid is now working OK, thank goodness, there was something wrong with the tube at the end of the piece that goes behind the ear.

Whatever is wrong with Linda, I hope she will soon feel better.

I'll speak to you all tomorrow, take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Ann,
No Roly hasn't got a volume control, just a switch for three programmes, one for normal hearing, two for cuts background noise out, three is the T.Loop.
It's digital, and one thats really up to date, but such a noisy whistley thing.
He can get new batteries from our doctors practise though.
My grandaughters ex boyfriend is 22 going on 12, and he definately has anger problems, but doesn't think he has.

AnninGlos Report 7 Aug 2012 16:20

Huia had a thread up this morning re a volcano erruption in NZ. Not near where she is though.

Has Roly's aid got a volume control Mo? Maybe he has it turned up too loud. If I have mine up too loud and my head for example touches the back of the armchair, it whistles.

Very worrying about your granddaughter's boyfriend. I think the police need to have a word with him about anger management. How old is he?

Oh my word Sallie, you are putting me to shame with all this decorating. Don't for goodness sake let Jean know that you have done it, or she will definately give me a dig in the ribs for not doing any this year.
Over the last couple of years we have done so much to the house, that I dont think it needs doing again just yet, or me paint brushes would be out at the ready.

Lorraine theres you hoping your son and his ex get back together again, and me wishing my grandaughter and her ex had not got back together.
She had to go for another scan yesterday, and he paid for two scan pictures, and grandaughter paid for the rest.
He didn't like the ones he had paid for, and kicked up a stink in the hospital, and pushed her in the corridors, making her nearly fall to the floor.
On the bus he started again, and was so loud the driver threatened to call the police and chuck him off the bus.
During his rant, he threatened to burn my daughters house down, with them all inside it.
My daughter phoned the police, and they are going to interview my grandaughter tonight.
But he is such a creep, he will probably turn up at her place of work and beg for forgiveness, and knowing my G.D she will take him back, silly girl.
As it is my daughter goes on holiday tomorrow, and is petrified he will carry out his threat.
She has arranged for G.D to stay at her dads whilst she is away, and Roly will be going to the house a few times a day to check it out.
Why is my life never straight forward thats what I want to know. lol

Sallie and Ann, talking of the hearing aids. Roly has got to go back to the hospital about his new one.
He keeps whistling, and it's driving him and myself crazy.
I can be watching the T.V and I hear a whisle, I automatically look outside, before I realise it's him again.
Coo it's driving me batty....well battier than I am already.

Where has our Jean got to....shhhh it's very quiet isn't it without her.

I hope that Linda is feeling a little better now, with her problems with her ears.

Joyce, dont worry yourself about shoes love, just enjoy the day for what it is, a celebration for your grandaughters wedding.

Sylvia, how did you both enjoy yourselves at the cabin? Do come and tell us please.

Sending hugs across the waters to Huia and Marie. It's been a while since Huia spoke to us, perhaps she is very busy.

Bye for now my cyber friends. Love and hugs to you all. Mo xxx

Sallie, about 5 years ago our doctors surgery obtained planning permission to build a new doctors complex like yours. Due to various problems it still has not even been started. You are lucky. fortunately the hospital is quite convenient as we just go there by bus and from the hospital we can walk into town, it isn't far. It is ok as long as it is not raining. :-)

Sallie

Sallie Report 7 Aug 2012 12:38

Hi Ann,

Yes we shall be glad when the wallpapering is finished, we are getting too old for wallpapering now.lol!! We already had anaglypta on the landing, stairs and hall, but from the day we put it up I never liked it, so have put some different patterned anaglypta up instead of it and I must say I feel much happier with it.

So pleased that you managed to find a white bag and feel sure that it will look as good as the dearer bags at the wedding.

Yes I go to our GP's surgery for hearing tests and to sort out any problems that I might have with my hearing aids. I have a number to ring and they make an appointment for me at our GP's. I also have to ring the same number when I need more batteries and they send them to me within two days.

Mind you Ann, just over two years ago our GP practice had a new surgery built as there are twelve doctors there altogether, most of whom are partners. It's a two storey building with the doctors, nurses and counsellors rooms on the ground floor and they use the upstairs rooms for things like hearing tests, they also use part of the upstairs rooms for minor day surgery.

Hope you and T have a good weekend at your daughters, take care.

Love, Sallie.xx

AnninGlos Report 7 Aug 2012 12:02

Hi Sallie, you will be pleased to get that decorating finished. I find doing hall stairs and landing seems to 'inconvenience' the whole house. Still I bet it all looks nice and freash. I am afraid we abandoned wallpapering a couple of years back, put up anaglypta and now just paint, much easier and quicker.

Sorry about your hearing aid I can appreciate how you miss it. I only ever used to wear one at first but now if one goes wrong I feel quite 'lop sided LOl!!! Do you have yours done at your GP surgery then? We have to go to the hearing department of the hospital. Although, usually it is quite easy to get an appointment. I have to walk to the hospital tomorrow as I am running out of batteries.

Yes I did get a small white shoulder bag, leather and believe it or not after looking in all the expensive shops, it was £6.99 on one of the indoor market permanent stalls (I think owned by Cotter shoes). So that is me sorted.

we have just done a small grocery shop, at daughters at the weekend so didn't need meat and veg for then. We had our Tesco vouchers today so doubled up a five pound one and got £10 worth of frozen food. well worth doing.

Sallie Report 7 Aug 2012 11:36

Hello everyone,

I haven't been on here for quite a few days, as we've been busy decoratoing the landing, stairs and hall. Almost finished now, but I think we will need to get another roll of wallpaper.....so it will have taken 14 rolls.

Mo, so glad that S was able to get the bridesmaids dresses for the little ones. Hope that your granddaughter will like the dress and that she won't mind wearing it quite short.

Sorry to hear that Roly hasn't been very well, I hope that he's feeling a lot better now.

Jean, I can understand that you feel it would be good to get your conservatory back to how it use to be.....I feel the same about our dining room, where I make my cards. I did use the bedroom that Richard had when he was home, but after a while I felt really ' cut off ' up there, so moved back to the dining room. Trouble is it gets into such a mess.lol!!

Of course, Alun spends a good bit of time in what use to be the garage, working on his model railway layout, so in the evenings we sometimes don't see each other very much.lol!!

Caz , as aiways, I'm thinking about you and hoping that all will go well for you when you start chemo again. Keeping the chain of love going for you.

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Jeniwren, sorry to hear that you are also poorly, sending you love and positive thoughts.

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Marie, lovely to see you on here again, and hope that you are well.

Very sorry to hear about your sister-in-law, I'm sure that once she has had chemo she will be fine. Also sending her lots of positive thoughts and love, too. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Lorraine, sorry to hear that your cyst ruptured on the way to the hospital, I hope that it is all sorted now and that you feel a lot better.

Enjoy yourself shore fishing with FD and her brother at Llandudno tomorrow. Take care all of you!

Ann, hope both you and T are alright. Have you managed to get white handbag for your grandson's wedding, yet

Jude, lovely to see you on here. I hope that both you, Vic and Madoc are all OK.
I'm wondering how you sister is getting on, I hope that she has decided to see her doctor and has been able to get the help that she needs.

Since a week last Friday my left hearing aid has broken, so I have an appointment with someone at our surgery at 4.30p.m., just hope that it can be repaired and won't have to wait to get a new one.

I had better go and prepare the dinner ready for this evening, so that I can start cooking it when we get home.

Speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
