Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 22 Jan 2013 15:12

Hooray, the snow is melting girls. Looking at my neighbours rooftops, most of the dreaded white stuff is vanishing, and the garden has started to clear as well.
Cor, it was really chilly round my ears this morning. I made an appointment six weeks ago, to get my hair trimmed, and as I keep it nice and short, when I walked out of the hairdressers, I thought my poor lugholes were going to drop off. My hood soon went up.
I looked a real picture of elegance, with my black wellies and my hood of my black coat up, face as white as a ghost, as I must have looked a fright, but hey, I was warm and dry.
I must put a colour on the grey tomorrow, I look like a salt and pepper pot now. lol

I think the world and his wife must have been feeling stir crazy, the amount of people milling around the shops this morning, proved how bored they had become, being stuck in the house since the snow had begun.

Take care my friends. Love and hugs Mo xxx

I have seen the photo's of the party on F.B Ann, it looks like Lilly had a good time, the snow didn't prevent everyone from making it there thank goodness.

Well girls, the snow has started to melt, and providing it doesn't freeze tonight, the roads should be clear soon
Not looking forwards to going out tonight to darts though, brrr will be a bit chilly later on.

Love and hugs to all, Mo xxx.

Hello girls,
Well we have got at least four inches of snow, and it's still coming down, yuk I was hoping we would have been saved and got away without it.
We were supposed to have been going to Lilly's birthday party today, but Roly would not take the chance of us getting stuck in a snow drift,(not that it's that deep YET) Poor little mite, was so unwell on her birthday, and to top it all, today it had to snow and prevent us from going to see her.
I hope you are all coping with the cold, and are staying in the warm at home.
Take care girls, love and hugs Mo xxx

Hi all, must be the weather making us too dozy to post!!!

I have only managed one scrapbook page today but that makes it 10 so far so just about halfway. Decided to tidy out a couple of boxes I used for needlework boxes and condense them into one. That took a while and got rid of some rubbish. Trouble was I had Mum's needlework stuff when she died so had double of lots of things. tidier now though.

Other than that I don't know where today has gone, ok made the scrap book page and sorted out bird feeders and feed (again) but time just disappeared and I just had to make a dash to get the chicken in for this evening's roast. Luckily I prepared the potatoes earlier.

Snow has mostly melted here now, probably get ice tomorrow with any that is left though, had a lot of sleet today but it didn't stick/lay.

Hope you are all keeping warm.

Hi girls, just popping on to this ' sleepy ' thread to say hello and see if everyone is okay.
Hope you and your families are all well and keeping nice and warm.

Mo, I hope that Lilly is over the flu and is a lot better by now.....back to her usual ' busy ' little self.
Also hope that both you and Roly haven't caught the flu off her. Alun's dad use to say that if he caught a bad cold or flu off one of his six grandchildren he always had it a lot worse and felt more poorly than if he had caught it off another adult.

Sylvia, sorry to hear that you were not able to go out and about with your visitors during their stay with you. Hope that your toe problem has improved and are feeling better to what they were.
Thank goodness your cousin's OH didn't have pneumonia, and let's hope that he has improved a good deal by now.

Huia, pleased to hear that you got the form sorted out, it's best to be on the safe side.

I'm sure you enjoyed having a natter to your friends at the shop while you were waiting for the manager to sort out the form..... I know I would have....when I get the bus to town there is always someone I know waiting at the bus stop, and we end up having a really good natter.lol!!

Jean, how are you doing with you GC? I expect you have done lots more cutting and embossing over the last few days. Alun took me to the Range and HC after lunch, bought a few things that I needed, but didn't see anything special that I liked....I don't know if it was just me but there didn't seem to be anything new or nice at either place.

I was looking for some flower and buckle dies but both the R and HC didn't have anything like that there at all. I'll have to have a look onlineto see what I can find.

Ann, hope that your mouth is a lot better by now and that you are able to concentrate on your card making and scrapbooking again.

Marie, if you are looking in, hope all is well with you and your family.

I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone,

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Mo

and everyone

well, our Aussie visitors arrived last Saturday (the 12th) and have now left ............ currently on their way to Los Angeles, where they will get on board a Qantas flight to Brisbane in about 2 hours time.

It has been a good, but not excellent, visit .............. largely because I and the husband both had health problems.

They are among my most favourite rellies, so we did have lots to talk about. She is my second cousin, but is only about 7 or 8 years younger than me.

I had a recurrence of inflammation of a couple of toe joints due to arthritis, so was hobbling around the whole time they were here. The only shoes I could wear were ................ my summer sandals

The only treatment is ice, elevation, rest .......... and pain killers.

It did mean that I couldn't go out with them ....... so OH did all the sightseeing AND shopping things

Meanwhile, R was suffering from a bad attack of asthma, which turned into bronchitis. He was in bed most of Tuesday, OH took him to a walk-in medical clinic on Wednesday, and they were back there early this morning (Thursday) to check x-rays, etc. At one point yesterday the doc was worried he actually had pneumonia ...... which could have stopped them flying home.

The problem was caused by going on a 3 day cruise over New Year .................. there was lots of smoking on board, and the smoke was getting into the air conditioning vents. R is susceptible to smoke

Anyway, OH and I are now on our own, and getting back to normal ........ whatever that might be

I hope those feeling ill are now feeling much better .................. and that you do not get the amount of snow that has been threatened!

take care

xx

Yes, Sallie, I went in yesterday and asked about filling in a form. I had to wait while the woman from the upstairs office printed off some new ones, then when I had filled it in and our shop manager had signed it I had to wait while she took it upstairs to make a copy for me. I used the waiting time chatting to the other workers in the shop, one of whom was new and another who hadnt seen me since I had my hair cut. No problem with the waiting.

Hi Marie, good to see you on here and hope that your family are all okay. Hope you are finding it too hot there, although I know from a few other members on here how hot it is. Just hope that it will cool down a bit more for you all there. Just sent us a bit of that heat over here to th UK, I'm sure a few people would be grateful.lolol!!!

Huia, hope you are okay today after falling off your chair. Ii would be best if you reported it
to the manager of the store so that at least they will have it on record.

Hope that they serviced your computer ok for you and that it's now going a lot better for you.

Mo, hope Lilly managed to enjoy her birthday although she was poorly, bless her. I hope that she has started to get better now.

I was wondering today if you still play darts on a Thursday eveving? Sorry I can't remember if it's a Thursday or a Monday night you play. Old age doesn't come by itself, I'm afraid.lol!!

Jean, I haven't heard from Joyce for weeks, in fact it was a couple of weeks before Christmas when I last spoke to her. I know she hasn't been well for a long time and struggled to keep going. Let's hope that they can find out what is wrong and atart her on some medication so hopefully she will feel a lot better.

Hope you and J are both alright. Hope D won't have any trouble travelling to and from work
with any snow we all might have. In fact, I hope she will stay at home if it starts to get too
bad.

Ann, hope things are all okay with you there. Have you had any snow yet?
I know they have given snow for us in the East Midlands along with Wales and quite a bit of England. Although we don't usually get it too bad here, so hope it will stay that way.

Well girls must go now, speak to you all soon.

Stay safe and warm here in the UK and safe and cool in NW and Oz.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Marie Joyce isnt very well Purple Liz has been in contact, Joyce sent me a message saying she was waiting for test results but now is unable to dress herself, Jan has to help her before he goes to work, so its not good news I am afraid, hope all is well with you and your family, wish we had some of your heat its freezing here... but very sad to see how bad the fires are .....

Huia, has your headache gone yet, hope you are o.k. too...

take care ladies , love Jean xx

Huia Report 16 Jan 2013 07:58

Marie, we have had some hot weather although not as bad as in Oz. I find the humidity makes it feel so much worse. This evening seems much cooler though according to the thermometer it is just over 20 deg C.

re Joyce, I had a birthday card from her a week ago.

I took my computer to town for a 'check up' today, so I hope it will be going a bit better. I left it with the experts while I worked in the Hospice shop. Just on closing time I sat on the edge of the chair while I reached under the counter for my bag, and suddenly the chair (one of those computer ones on wheels) decided to remove itself and dump me on the floor. It was only my pride that was hurt. I have plenty of padding, but I suppose I should really have filled in an 'incident' form. I said it wasnt an accident, I did it on purpose. Maybe I will call in tomorrow morning to ask the boss what she thinks. If I do discover I have some injury the Shop or boss might be in trouble with elf and safety, but on the other hand if I say what happened they might be in trouble with e & s for having a wheeled chair on smooth tiles. :-0

I will be off to bed soon. Good night Aussies, good morning up toppers.

Hello girls,I've been busy catching up with the ironing and a couple of other chores that I wasn't able to do while I was poorly. Also been busy making birthday cards, we have eight birthdays in March so thought I had better make a start on them.

Jean. glad to hear that Jack's funeral went as planned. I'm sure that his wife will be able to rely on both you and J's company and support.

Ann, it's good to know that at least you have had the tooth removed. Hope that a couple of pain killers will help the pain so that you can get some sleep tonight.

Mo, it's flipping freezing here to0, I don't want to go out at all. Will have to go out tomorrow though as it's shopping day......I know some people do their shopping online, but both my friend and I like to see what we're buying.lol!!!

Wishing Lilly a very Happy 2nd Birthday for tomorrow, hope she has lot's of presents and cards. Bless her, can't believe she's two already. Is she having a party?

Hello to all our other friends on here and hope that you are all well.

Take care and keep warm.

Jean, losing a close friend as you and J have, is hard to bear.
Your friends wife does now need your friendship, but also time for her to grieve for her loss of her loved one.
No wonder the two of you felt so drained after the service, and needed the rest.

Oooh Ann, you did suffer didn't you. Thank goodness the blessed tooth is now gone, and once the pain dies down, you can get back to normal again.

I hope everyone is staying in the house, and keeping snug and warm, as it's still so cold outside.
I am sitting here, with the heating on, in my jama's and dressing gown, with a nice warm pair of bed socks on trying to keep my tiny toes warm, coz my feet are flippin freezing.
Going to make myself a nice hot drink now.
Speak to you all tomorrow. Take care girls. Love to all Mo xxx

I am pleased for you and for Jack's wife that the funeral arrangements all went well Jean. This is when his wife will need all the support she can get.

I am just back from the dentist. don't want to go through that again in a hurry. He had two goes at pulling the tooth but I could still feel it so he had to give me another two injections. He was lovely though, very caring as was his nurse today who is senior nurse there and not his usual one, his is off, I think she had a cold last week when I was there so maybe she has flu. Anyway I had to sit in the waiting room for ten minutes to let the injections 'take' better. The third time I could still feel some pain but he persevered and it came out. Ouch and boy is it hurting now.

We have just got back from the funeral of our dear friend, we were in the church at 10.15 the funeral was 11.0 by 10.30 every seat was full as was the large room at the side, there were many folk standing outside too... the service was lovely and a fitting accolade of our friend . aterwards we all went to the cemetery for his last journey, there more folk waiting there also, the family have arranged for refreshments at the locakl cricket club but we were tired so decided to just come home, now we need to be there for his wife , its hard when everyone is back at work and life goes on.... so its been an emotional time and I am glad it all went smoothly for the family..... we are having a late lunch now and I think I will have a lay down , we are drained, but pleased we were part of it all...

HI Jean, John first worked for the National Coal Board as an apprentice electrician for five years, which he passed. He stayed there for another year and then decided to join the Police Force and stayed there until he retired, then became a lay preacher for a few years before deciding to start his training to become a vicar.

Alun's sister became a Methodist minister a year before John finished his traing. It's funny how things turn out, she was a teacher before she started having her children.

Sorry I didn't realise that you had lost a good friend so close to Christmas. A sad time for you and J and also his family.

Hi Mo, yes it's been very cold here today too, although it has been fairly bright.

Alun, Jennie and Michael have gone to see the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey team play the Cardiff Devils at the Ice Arena tonight, they left at 4 o clock as they were meeting friends so that they could have a meal before going. Not sure who will be shouting for which team though......both Jennie and Michael were born in the Nottingham Hospital that Jennie goes to see the Consultant she is under.....so I told her that she should shout for the
Panthers.lol!!

I've just finished my dinner so I'm going to make a cuppa now and maybe I'll start making some birthday cards as I'm on my own until about eleven o clock.

Mo, my brother is doing fine, thank you. He certainly seems to be enjoying being a vicar, maybe he should have done it when he was younger, at least when he retired from the Police Force.

Huia, hope that both you and your son had a lovely birthday.

Jean I didn't look if there was a post date on the evelope as I was wondering who had sent me a card as it wasn't my birthday.lol

Like you said Mo, hope everyone stays safe and warm. Hope the snow stays away from wherever you all live in the UK.

Speak to all soon.
