Huia, pleased to know that the shop is doing so well, that was a very good amount to take for one day. Well done to you and all the others that work there.

Ann, we've been to the garden centre this afternoon. the one that has the craft centre, although I couldn't get what I wanted there.lol!!! Only money we spent was in their coffee shop for the usual tea and coffee and a scone between us.......the scones are really big so we always share one.

Mo, how are things with your granddaughter and her new baby today? Hope that all is going along as it should. Do she know about her other grandfather now?

Jean, how are things with you and your family today. Hope that you are all ok.
Let's hope that it won't be too long before your gtgrandson is born. Looking forward to hearing the good news of his birth.

Sylvia, I hope that your toes are getting a lot better by now.

Marie, also hope that all is well with you.

Jean and Ann, I am just wondering if you use wax paper when you use the more intricate dies in your GC's, BigS machines? If you do, is it easy to use ot not? Sorry all questions to both of you. Thanks.

Thank you girls, the baby is lovely, but then we all think a new born is lovely don't we, as when it's a family member we are biased.

Jean, I don't think Lilly will take much notice of the new baby. She may be slightly jealous, when we hold her, but generally she is very good with babies.
You and J stay inside the house, till the snow completely goes. Don't go practising for dancing on ice purleeze, if you fall down and hurt yourself, you wont be able to skate in front of Robin Cousins and the ice panel, and I know how much you are looking forwards to it. ;-) ;-) ;-)lol

Ann, you will be nice and snug with the new heater in the conservatory. Is that where you do most of your card making and scrap booking?
The grandad that passed away, has been house bound for many many years, with both mental and physical ailments.
Nanny P, bless her, has been carer for both her husband and son, for such a long time, when the funeral is over, she can perhaps get her life back on track, but will find it so hard to fill her days, after running around for the two of them for such a time.

Sallie my little flower, it's good to hear from you.
I bet you were glad to be back home from Richards, the snow on the motorways, is causing such havoc for drivers.
I read in the paper today, about the hold ups on the M6, where traffic was held up for hours on end. It was so bad that people were able to build snowmen on the hard shoulder, whilst they waited for the traffic to clear a bit.
Is Richard any better now? There are a lot of different viruses about at the moment, and everyone I speak to has either had a family member down with one thing or another.

Good grief Huia, the shop did brilliantly raising over $1,000. You must have been extremely busy. Were there furniture items sold to help raise this amount.
Two of our local charity shops sell furniture, as well as clothing and other goods.
I hope you have a lovely Auckland day, and get loads of photo's for your competition in March.

We had a fabulous night out last night. there were loads of us dressed in 1950's clothes.
A few of the men, had been to a fancy dress shop, and hired teddy boy outfits. It was really funny seing them dressed in their drapes, and crepe soled shoes. A good night had by all.
When I get sent some pics sent through on Face Book, I will post them so that you can have a good laugh at my expense, lol

Got to do some tea now, so I will say bye for now. Love to all Mo xxx

Hello Huia, gosh, that was a good total for the shop, did you sell something big that day?

Did you get your photos? Good luck with the comps. Haven't done it for years but always found panning quite hard to do, you need a group of cyclists really to get the effect right.

Huia

Huia Report 26 Jan 2013 21:11

Good evening ladies.

Sallie, Phil is always the same when I visit, rarely looking at me, rarely saying anything, sometimes falling asleep. I just hope he is aware that I am a familiar voice.

Our shop is going well. On Wednesday we took over $1000, which doesnt happen very often. I have a holiday from the shop tomorrow, as it is Auckland's anniversary day, so the shop is shut.

Today I am going to do some washing, then I might go over the hill to see if I can get any photos. The photoclub competition for March is for panning. I want to see if I can get any of bikes/cars. And if there are any groups that appear to be celebrating, the Feb. comp is for 'celebration'. I do have 2 or 3 that might suit for that, but always looking for something better.

Better get on with the washing, it is past 10 a.m.

Mo congratulations to both you and Roly on the birth of your new gt granddaughter Zoey.
As you said, tinged with saddness on the death of her other grandad. Had he been ill for long or was it sudden?

We had to go down to Richard's yesterday, to sort out an electric heater that he bought three weeks before Christmas the heating element had stopped working. To make matters worse his car is in the garage having a job done on it and he has also had a virus over the last few days and is quite poorly. Alun and I bought him a new heater and took it down for him and we then took the broken one back to the shop and got the money back.
Had a snack in Richard's and then came home, by the time we got to Tamworth on the M42 it started to rain which had turned to snow by the time we joined the M1. Alun and I were glad to get home as it was snowing heavily by then, we had between three and four inches overnight.

Ann, we have also been to The Range today and as Hobby Craft is very near we went there too. Mind I don't need much of an excuse to go there anyway.lol!!!

Jean, I see that you had snow last night too. Mind you probably had a lot more than us with living so close to the Pennines. It started to rain here about an hour ago, so let's hope that the snow will get washed away.

Hope D didn't have too much of a problem getting to work over the last week.

Sylvia, hope that all is well with you and your OH.

Marie, also hope that all is okay with you and your family.

Huia, how are you getting on at the shop? Hope things are going alright with Phil.

Well girls I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Congratulations Mo on the new Gt Granddaughter. Welcome to little Zoey. How sad that her other Grandfather died the same morning. I don't remember, was he ill for long?

jean, it was a lovely sunny morning here, a little rain overnight but otherwise dry at the moment. Went to Dunelm and The range this morning. Dunelm seemed to be selling off lots of craft bits, got 11 A4 sheets of card for 10p a sheet (colours I was missing). Then a few bits in the Range plus an inexpensive convector heater for the conservatory. Right back to the scrap book.

Congtratulations to you Mo and the family, we wait with baited breath for our little boy to make an appearance any time now,
sorry to hear about grandads passing, we were just saying, in our local paper there are numerous death notices in this week, so much sadness, and also much Joy at new life....wonder what Lily will have to say when she sees the new baby.
We have had an amazing amount of snow overnight, couldnt believe it when I looked out . now its begining to thaw, but it will all have had to go before I venture out.....take care all, no slipping and sliding about....

love and hugs to one and all Jean xx <3

Hello girls,
We became great grandparents again this morning, with the birth of baby Zoey at ten fifteen, weighing in at 6lb 3oz.
Our grandaughters waters broke at 8.30 a.m, and after being rushed to hospital, they took her straight down for a C section.
Both Mum and Baby are doing fine.
The most heart breaking thing in all this, and our grandaughter doesn't know yet, but her other grandad passed away, at 2.30 a.m this morning, in the same hospital.
So we have joy, mixed with sorrow.
Bye for now my friends. Love Mo xxx

Hi Mo, yes very cold here with a cold wind. it started to snow at 4pm but seems to have stopped again. We just drove down the road for the papers and have been indoors ever since. Shall be getting fat with all this no exercise.

We have got a turkey thigh in the slow cooker in a mushroom sauce, not sure whether to do rice or mashed with it. Fancy mash if I can be bothered to peel the spuds :-D

Brrr how cold it's got today again girls.
Whats the weather like in your areas? We had more snow flurries today, but thank goodness it didn't lay.
Like you Ann, we did our weekly shop today, and also topped the freezer up, not that we needed that much. But we didn't want to take the chances of it being even colder tomorrow than today.
I am doing us, sausages, jacket taters, and beans for dinner tonight, something nice and warming. If I had realised how bad it was going to turn out, I would have done a nice stew yesterday, and heated it up today for us. Oooh dumplings, and loads of veggies, yummy.
Bye for now my friends, love and hugs Mo xxx

Hi Mo, We have done the weekly shop today so have enough food in for at least a week's siege if necessary :-D :-D. At the moment I have let my hair go back to grey, growing all the old colour out, then will have it coloured again in the spring. Hate it grey but can't be bothered to colour it at home any more, much easier at the hairdressers. Trouble is, it is very thick so difficult to cover myself.

Jean I just knew you were putting me to shame and making cards. I did make two this week, just simple ones using old cards. But mainly I have been doing the scrap book, nothing complicated with that either as really all they like is the photos, if they were girls they'd probably appreciate something pretty. But not the boys.

Hello my lovelies.
Sylvia, sorry to hear about your bad tootsie, oh so painful I bet love.
It's alright the physio saying you are doing the right thing, but, a little bit of sympathy and maybe a bit of manipulation of the toe, might have made you feel better. ( Or perhaps it would have made it worse.)
Rest is what is called for love, so take it easy with the foot elevated.

Marie, I am a brave soldier, going out in the snow to play darts. Seriously though, it's my only relaxation away from home, and I enjoy the company.
It's strange that your Sean and Nancy's baby being due, on the 14th of Feb, our great grandaughter, was due on the 13th. But baby Zoey is breech, and when they tried to turn her yesterday, she slid back into the breech position again, litle monkey.
So our Grandaughter has got to have a C Section done. She has to go Tuesday, for bloods to be taken, and tests done, and then they will give her a date for the section. Understandably, our J.L is very nervous about it, but it's for the best for both of them.
Come to think of it, Jeans grandchild is due soon as well. What with Ann's G.Grandchild, that makes four of us awaiting baby births.

Ann, smart new hair cut warranted a colour treat as well. I stunk the house out this morning when I put the dye on, and Roly was moaning about the pong.
Mind you, it's not a very pleasant smell is it. I even sprayed air freshener round when I had finished, to cover the pong.
But, I am back to my glamorous self now LOL ;-) ;-) ;-)

Another day stuck within these four walls, but I refuse to go out in the cold for no reason at all. We have got enough food and drink to last, so thats that, anything else, we will go without.

I hope Sallie, Huia,Liz and Joyce and not forgetting our leader Jean, are all well.
Lets hope to hear from them soon.
Bye for now my friends. Love and hugs Mo xxx

Sylvia, so sorry that you are still in pain, one of the things you don't want to hear isn't it? That is will just take time, you want a miraculous cure suggestion.

Zack not long before little one arrives then, lovely to look forward to. even when our first Gt Grandchild arrives there won't be many cuddles as we don't see much of them being 2 hours away.

Mo, all smart now with your nice hair cut then.

Hope you are OK Jean didn't see youa round yesterday, busy with the cards maybe?

Hello to you all,.

Sorry to hear about your toes Sylvia ,I would hate to have to put a cold pack on my feet especially in winter brrrrr I hope the swelling come down soon.

I am sorry to hear that Joyce is not well , what a shame it was only yesterday that I received and invite to her Facebook Page, I will see if I can reach her and say hello.

Mo I think I would be giving up the darts if I had to go out in the snow.
I am pleased that we only get the occasional fall of snow as it does not affect us very much, our days are shorter but we never get the darkness even if it is foggy nothing like you do, we are always able to get out and the fogs don't hang around. The breeze soon blows it away and the sun soon get's rid of the frost..
We do get a fair bit of very cold wind in winter especially when you are out watching your favorite football team Play.
Hi Sallie ,so your snow is melting I hope that will be the last for you and that your spring comes early ,that goes for all of you.
My little Abigail will be starting school soon they grow up so Quick,
Sean & Nancy's Babe is due on the 14th Feb. it is a girl. so I will still have a little one to cuddle. I will be back on the school run again soon it's a blooming pain having to go out each day but some one has to do it ,that's what grandma's are for ..
It must be time to go and watch the News .

I cant forget Huia , how are you I hope you did not hurt yourself too badly.
Does your hair grow Quickly??? as you will need it by the time winter arrives . How are things with Phil.? I hope that you are well and that you haven had too many small visitors with long tails ! I suppose they will return when it starts to get cold,
Love & Hugs

Hi Mo

and everyone

sorry I haven't posted since Saturday ..........

just had a quick read back.

(((((hugs))))) for everyone

The inflammation moved to my big toe joint last Friday .......... not surprising as I had been putting pressure on it as I tried to avoid putting pressure on the other joint!

......... it has been giving me gyp. Couldn't even get the sandal on, so I have spent most of the time sitting with my foot up, and ice pack at regular intervals.

I had a physio appointment today, managed to get the sandals on without discomfort, but it was pouring with rain! So OH took me.

Physio said I was doing all the right things .................. just time needed. :-( :-( :-( :-(

We've had several very foggy days, with low temperatures.

Fog went yesterday afternoon .......... rain came in overnight!

take care everyone
