Hi girls,
I hope you are all well.
I had a message from Jeniwrens daughter today, letting me know that Jeni has been in hospital. following a heart attack.
Her son was going to pick her up from the hospital this afternoon.
And bless her, it's her birthday tomorrow, so,
******************************************************************************************

Huia Report 18 Mar 2013 22:18

Sallie, it is not a matter of what the women did in March, more likely what they were doing in June - celebrating the official Queen's birthday? In my family it has been celebrating Easter. So many birthdays in January, I call us Easter Eggs. ;-)

Sallie

Sallie Report 18 Mar 2013 15:13

Well I've finished writing the cards now, so will send them off tomorrow. I'm so glad that they are done, we have a lot of family birthdays in March to start with and over the years a few friends children were also born in March.......someone in the family once asked me what we women did in March with so many babies being born over the years.lol!!

Jean, lovely to have the family over for lunch yesterday and wonderful to see the baby. I think it is the sound of a deeper voice that attracts the babies to the men. I know that whenever we have one of the little ones here they are fine with me until Alun and Richard arrive on the scene, and then I am forgotten.lol!!

Mo, sorry that you were not well enough to go and see Lilly and her brother and sister yesterday, I hope that you are feeling better today.

Huia, the shop sounds lovely, it seems very well organised.

Ann, I think sister-in-law is slowly getting use to not having hubby at home. I know she was finding things very difficult as it was, but I think she also felt guilty about not having him at home so clung on to having him there for much longer than she should have. I can understand where she was coming from because I'm sure that if it was me with Alun I would be exactly the same as her.

Well I must go and get a couple of jobs done before Alun arrives home.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo, sorry you are having such pain, I hope you can get an appointment soon to get it sorted out.

The plants are not planted out in the garden of course, it is still to cold for that. It is beautifully sunny here at the moment but there is also a hard frost. No, the plants are in indoor heaters in the conservatory and greenhouse.

Sallie, goodness, a lot of cards for one month.

I hope the your sister in law will find it better to have her OH in the home, if she had kept him home it would probably have ended up with being detrimental to her health.

Yes thanks really enjoyed the chicken.

Huia, the shop looks very nice, very smart. Good luck with the photos for the competition.

Jean, glad you enjoyed the visit by your great grandson, strange how they sometimes relate more to men isn't it? Wonder if it is their voices?

Whenw e were down in Devon and visiting Coleton Fishacre, the home of the D'Oyley cartes (NT) there was a camelia in full flower there, it was beautiful and yet it was very cold.
The window vac is very good, pleased we bought it. :-) Gives T something different to the iron to play with :-D

There has been a lot of re-organising of things in our shop. We have a new stand with glass shelves, and are putting some of the fancy china etc on it. The clothes have been moved around. Also bric-a-brac. It is all looking very nice. I took some photos today so will have to get them on my computer, then on my FB page.

Tomorrow I will be going out in the afternoon, having dinner in town, then going to the choir AGM, as they are inviting all the older members who have left. I am not sure what it is in aid of. This time tomorrow night I will know.

Sallie Report 18 Mar 2013 00:00

Hi girls, just to let you know that I haven't forgotten you all, I've been so busy getting all the birthday cards made for March, just got one more to make and a few Easter cards.....I've made eighteen birthday cards so far. Thank goodness March is the worse month for birthdays.lol!!!

Mo, hope you will get to have a scan very soon and whatever the problem is, they will quickly sort it out for you.

Ann, hope you and T enjoyed your roast chicken dinner this evening. We had roast lamb today, really enjoyed it.

Huia, you sound as though you are a very busy bee. Hope all is going well in the shop and that you are having some good bargains in to sell.
How is Phil getting along? Hope all is as well as it can be for him.

Our brother-in-law is now in a home and seems to have settled in okay. Sister-in-law was hoping that she could have him at home for at least a bit longer but the Specialist he is under, advised her against it.

Jean, Sylvia, Marie and Jeni, hope you are all okay.

Well I'm off to bed now, speak to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xxx

It sounds strange Huia saying she has got work today, doesn't it Ann, especially as we are still on Sunday night here, I keep forgetting the time differences betwen here and down under, and Canada even.
Don't work to hard Huia, I hope you get some nice bargains in today.
How is the shop doing now? I hope business has improved now that people know where you are situated.

How far away from Cheltenham are you Ann. Is it a good shopping centre there?
You and T have been busy bees, planting out your spring flowers. We have not even thought about them yet.
I still have the plants I received on Mothers day to plant out yet, but the weather is completely wrong just yet.
Apart from the fact that I would get drowned trying to plant them in this pouring rain.

We didn't get to see the littlies yesterday Ann, I wasn't feeling up to it to be honest.
I will be glad when I get my scan done, and sort this pain out. The doctor seems to think it's either my gall bladder, gall stones or kidney stones. And there was me thinking that this pain was my IBS playing me up, but the doctor said the pain is to high up for that. Oh well never mind it will all be sorted soon, hopefully, if and when I get my appointment through.

Going to make myself a nice cuppa char now, so I will say bye for now my friends.
Love to all, Mo xxx

Busy is right, Ann, at least for me. I have spent more than 2 days trying to get the right photos for the next club meeting. Today I will be going in to work in the shop again and I have some things to do before that, so mustn spend too long on here.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 17 Mar 2013 18:09

Did you get to see Lily and the other two littlies yesterday as planned?

We went to Cheltenham and had a look round the shops, then had lunch in Wetherspoons, the morning was nice but it rained in the afternoon.
Today we have been to a garden centre and bought some little plants for our baskets and pots, then when we got home we potted them on. They are all snug now in the heaters, some in the conservatory and some in the greenhouse.
I also did a load of washing and wrote a note to send to Jean (Monmouth) in hospital with a card.

This is a very sluggish thread lately. I am sure everyone is ok but just busy.

Just put the dinner in the oven, roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips plus cauli and broccoli. Should be ready about 7pm. :-) :-)

Goodness me girls, it's the weekend again. How time flies by, without us realising it.
Is anyone doing anything special this weekend? We hope to go and see little Lilly, and her big brother and sister tomorrow.
Now that the snow has gone, I feel safer at making the journey, not that it's that far really.

Nothing exciting has been happening here, just the usual mundane things, like cleaning and shopping.
Another large raise in the price of food again this week. It really does annoy me, especially when we buy more or less the same things every week, and yet when we get to the check out, the cost has gone up yet again.

I hope everyone is well, and hope to hear from you all soon, to catch up on your news.
Love to all, Mo xxx

Mo, I didnt want that piece of furniture, nowhere to put it. Besides, I am trying to clear stuff out of my house! I did take in a fishing net. All we ever caught in it was seaweed. Today I am taking in some bits of jewellery that I dont wear. I will have to see what else I can take in. Not that I am working today, but I will be going to visit Phil.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Mar 2013 16:05

Huia I hope your co worker bought you a box of chocs for ferrying the furniture home for her.

Sallie, I thought that is what I remembered although, sorry, I didn't remember it was for a funeral. Hope you managed to get some sleep, you were up late.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 13 Mar 2013 15:59

Yes Huia,I do have an address book that I write all the postal details in, but, my brother moved house years ago, he told me the address, but the post codes started after he moved, and I just forgot completely to ask for it.
We used to just put the town and county down, and we still managed to get our post delivered, probably sooner than we do now.
If anything really nice comes into the hospice shop in the future Huia, don't say anything to your co-worker, just get in there quick and snap it up for yourself.
What a shame you missed the good bargain though.

Sallie, I completely forgot you were going to Wales. I know you did mention it, now that I think back.
I hope you got a good sleep after your very early morning on here. ;-) ;-) ;-) and that you are now feeling rested.
Speak to you later on hopefully.

Mmmmm I am cooking a lovely lamb roast for dinner, and it smells delicious in here, I can't wait for my dinner tonight.

Bye for now gilrs, Love to all, Mo xxx

Hi girls, just a quicky, to let you know that I'm okay. As Ann said, Alun and I have been down to Wales, we went to the funeral of an old family friend. G was two years older than me she was lovely, always very kind and thoughtful and I'm sure she will be missed a great deal by many people.

I'll speak to you all tomorrow, I mean later today, as it's very late now and I'm ready for my bed.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo, dont you have an address book in which you can write it down so that you can look it up if you need to? I have a phone/address book and have to refer to it sometimes.

I am off to town again today for my Wed afternoon turn in the shop. I will be taking in our old fishing net (never caught anything with it, apart from seaweed). The manager has assured me it will sell. I am gradually getting rid of things.

On Monday in the shop a new divider unit was brought in and I commented to my co-helper that it looked nice. She went to inspect it and decided to buy it. I dont think she had thought of how she would get it home as she gets a bus to come to the shop and I drive her most of the way home, so I asked if she wanted me to take it to her place. The bits unscrewed, so it fitted in the back of my ute very nicely. I did hold out my hand for a $35 delivery fee (what the shop charges for delivery) but I was just joking. :-)

It's great to hear that your card turned up Ann.
I have to admit, I have sometimes sent letters and cards minus their post codes.
For the life of me, I know my brothers address, and the beginning of his post code, but not all of it. Every time I phone him, I forget to ask him what it is, and I know I really should make the effort to find it out.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Mar 2013 17:49

Copied from my other thread.

Today I received my Mother's day card from daughter including a M&S gift card.

I really have to exonerate the post office, I can't believe that my well educated, highly paid, intelligent daughter in her 50s sent that envelope. Not only did it not have a post code, the word Glos was almost undecipherable and the whole address would have been written better by my 10 year old granddaughter.

So I have to say, 'well done the post office for getting it here at all'.

AnninGlos Report 12 Mar 2013 15:22

I might be wrong but at the back of my mind I vaguely remember (I think) that Sallie was going to visit her relatives in Wales. It is only a vague memory though so i hope her absence doesn't mean she is ill.

It is sooo cold her today, a really bitter wind, one or two snow showers but otherwise dry. We did manage to get out for coffee today with our friend, having a chuckle because she is going to ladies day at Cheltenham tomorrow with friends, my last words to her were 'hold on to your hat'. I hope it won't be too cold for them, this group of ladies have never been before so are dressing up and going for the experience.

I have at last had my hair done and got rid of the grey, I let all the colour grow out so I could decide if I was going to go grey gracefully but no I am not, I felt really old with it all grey and couldn't get used to that old lady looking at me from the mirror :-D

Anyway, back to my scrap booking.
