Ann, thanks I'll tell Alun when he gets home........person at the chemist told him once a day. I'm sure that when I was growing up if anyone had problems with their ears olive oil was used as you said, twice a day.

Jean, I'm sure that if Ann and I looked through your 'well stocked shop' we would find something we needed or wanted.lol!! As I've said before, just wish you were living nearer me.
Hope that you are able to sell some more of your stuff to the persson that is coming this afternoon.
It will be lovely to have a sitting room for you and Jeff, it will be nice and cosy and comfortable I'm sure.

Yes Mo, as you say the beige carpet will go with most other colours. Jennie and Michael called round earlier and said that the dining room looks really nice now. Although both Alun and I both thought the same thing, it's always nice to hear it from someone else.

Huia, thank goodness you were able to start your car when you got back from the eye specialist. I don't drive but I'm sure that it would be easy leaving your lights on. I know Alun sometimes has to go back to where we parked the car to check that he hadn't left the lights on.

Sylvia, glad that the care was all sorted by the time you were ready to leave for home.
Hope both you and OH enjoy your time with your friend at the ' Toast ' on the weekend.

A beautiful day here today, so I am wondering what to put on to go and do the weekly shop. Well I had better go and get ready to go and dothe shopping... always glad when that job is done.lol!!

Speak to you all later.

Take care everyone.

My craft room is now a well stocked shop ;-) ;-) I have someone coming later to have a look and still have several large boxes full of stuff ... we have just measured up to see if I can get a small sideboard with drawers and cupboard in for my craft stuff I shall save for me, and It looks as though it will do very nicley, but will have to wait until its empty....lick of paint and two chairs, new carpet, sorted.... :-D :-D :-D

Ann we have freinds in the place were you are and they are moving to their villa for two weeks in Correlelo (sp) I think they will move there soon, they go almost every fortnight...and they say there is always a breeze or high winds.... still sunny though...
nice here at the moment,so time for a spot of lunch .... love Jean xx

Sallie, tell Alan to try the oil twice a day, that should work. Still warm here but 30mph winds. Lanzarote is always windy.

Jean, reading what you have sold already and tables still to sell, I had no idea that you had put in so much stuff for your craft, no wonder it takes up a lot of too. Hope you can clear the rest soon then.
Mo, hope the tooth is ok and not an abscess.

Huia Report 19 Jun 2013 08:30

I left home much earlier than I needed to this morning. I parked outside our shop just after 8 a.m. and crossed the road to walk up to the bus stop, about 10 mins. When I got there I wondered if I had turned my headlights off when I had parked, but couldn't be bothered walking back to find out. The bus came at 8.35 and arrived at the clinic stop before 9.00. My appointment wasn't until 10.00 so I could have checked my lights and caught the next bus.

They didn't dilate my pupils. When I arrived back at the shop at 11.35 I found I had left my headlights on, and went inside the 'girls' told me that everybody who went into the shop would tell them. (Embarrassed smiley here). The engine started when I tried it. Not that I was worried as the garage where I usually get it serviced was just a short way up the road, so they could have dealt with it if the battery had been flat.

Another day of good sales in the shop.

Hi Mo, and everyone

I had not realised that it was so long since I had posted.

We went away to a conference on June 1 ................. had a bit of trouble on the way. The clutch of the car wore out, and the car came to a halt ................ on a steep long hill .............. it was a 6 to 8% grade that went on for about 30 or 40 km to the 1440+ summit pass.

Fortunately, a friend saw us, stopped and used his cell phone to call a tow truck ..... actually, we were very lucky that there was cell phone reception in that area!

The truck towed us about 40 km to the nearest Subaru maintenance, which fortunately was in the same city we were going to. The maintenance shop was run by the local Mercedes-Benz dealer ................. we got super service! It did cost a lot more than we had originally planned on spending at the conference!! They had to replace the clutch and a cylinder. But they put the car through a car wash before handing it back to us. It happened on the Saturday, and it took them until Wednesday to get all the parts in the shop and then installed. We picked it up on Thursday morning ............... which was the day we had planned to leave anyway!

The conference was good, and we saw a lot of our botanist friends.

The widow of our friend who died early in May was also at the conference we were at 10 days ago ................ she is doing very well. A couple of little weepy moments, but only momentarily.

She's having a "Toast" for her husband this coming Saturday ............. he had an incredible wine cellar, so she hopes that a few bottles will be emptied!

We're going over there for the "Toast", will stay overnight in a nearby hotel, then come home on Sunday.

Otherwise, we are both well. We have not yet been up to the cabin (too busy!!), but now have a realtor going to look at it and give us an appraisal for selling.

Take care everyone

I am up extra early this morning (have already had my brekky). I have an appointment at the Super Clinic for a field vision test. As they will dilate my pupils I will leave my vehicle at our Hospice shop and get a bus to the clinic. When I am finished there I wont be able to drive for a while, but can get a bus back to the shop as I am on working this afternoon. I will leave the till and eftpos work to my partner so I don't make any mistakes! My eyes should be ok for driving by the time our day is finished.

Hello girls,

Mo, I felt sure that you had to go to the hospital some time this month, but couldn't remember the date. Just as well you checked your appointment or as you say you would have been there a day to early.....stil that's better than a day to late.lolol!!!!

Alun has been having problem with wax in his left ear for about ten days, he's been putting olive oil in it once a day...his hearing is coming back slowly but when he got up this morning he couldn't hear in that ear again and then part way through the morning his hearing came back again. If it keeps on he said he will mention it to the doctor when he sees him on 12th July.

Jean, have you got much crafting stuff left to get rid of now? Oh! it is a tiring job having to sort through things that we need to get rid of, it's a job I don't like doing. Trouble with me, is that I get sentimental with some things and don't want to get rid of them.lolol!!!

Hope D is starting to feel much better and that she rests and takes care of herself. Sending her love and hugs.

Will speak to you all later.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Good afternoon my lovelies,
I am a silly moo Sallie, it's Friday I have the hospital not Thursday. Thank goodness I looked at the calender and noticed, or There I would have been, at the hospital one day to early....silly me lol.
Your choice of a light beige carpet is a good one, at least should you decide to paint the room a different colour, the carpet colour would go with any other colours, as it's a neutral shade.

Oooh Huia, I hope the dental appointment went well. I may end up having to go back myself, despite having a check up last week. For the last two days, I have had a slight tooth ache, in the upper gum, and am wondering if I may be starting an abscess. When I phoned the surgery this morning, I was told to ring back early Thursday morning, if it doesn't stop aching. But believe you me, if it's aching in the morning, I shall be ringing them again, in case I need anti- biotics to clear it up.

Jean my love, the before and after photo's sound like a good idea to me. It's a pity that you have to get rid of your bits,as you have not had most of it for very long have you.
I seem to remember J moving things around for you to have your craft room. My memory could be wrong, but it only seems like it was done last year. But hey, time flies by, when you are having fun, or when the memory plays you up. lol

Nothing exciting been happening here today, so I have not really got any fresh news for you, but just wanted to pop in to let you know that I am still around.
Love and hugs to all, Mo xxx

Hello again girls,

Mo I will be thinking about you on Thursday and will be hoping and praying that all will go well for you and whatever it is, it won't be anything serious. Good Luck!

Oh wouldn't it be nice if we all lived near each other so that you could all come to tea. You would certainly have your prawn cocktail and a slice of strawberry gateau, Mo.lol!!!

Jean, good to hear that your sale is going really well. What are you hoping to keep?
Are you going to get one of those cupboards that has all the drawers and crafting table built into it? They look great.....if I didn't have Jennie's old bedroom as a craft room now, I would have loved one of those.

Our new carpet is a mid beige, I didn't want anything too dark as we only get the morning sun in the dining room so it can be a bit dark in there at times, especially in the afternoons.
We are really pleased with it, it all looks nice and clean and fresh.....need some new curtains now so will have to look to see what's about.

Ann, good to hear that you and T are having a lovely holiday.......enjoy the rest of it and take care.

Huia, hope all went well at the dentist for you and that you were able to get the things done in town as you had planned.

Well girls I'm going to have a cuppa now before going to bed. Speak to you all tomorrow.

Goodnight.

Oh my goodness Sallie, christmas cards already :-D :-D :-D
When will you be having us round for a meal in your lovely, freshly painted dining room. Prawn cocktail for starters for me please, I don't mind what we have for the main meal, but can I have a nice slice of strawberry gateau for my afters, yummy my mouths watering thinking about it.
Yes my love, you are right, I see the specialist this Thursday at 9.40 a.m. I am hoping and praying it's somethings that can be sorted out easily.
I am sooooo pleased that the new medication is helping you Sallie. Your doctor will be very happy with your progress, but no one could be happier than me, believe me.
Hows the family doing Sallie?

Ann, how nice to hear from you. So pleased you had a good journey out there, now just relax, and enjoy yourselves.

It would be lovely here, if only the rotten wind would drop a little. The sun is shining but the wind is still chilly.
Goodness knows if we will ever get the chance to wear our summer clothes this year girls.
Must go and dish the dinner up now, so I will say cheerio for now. Love and hugs Mo xxx

Mo, thank goodness that the meal was nice, at least that was part of the evening you were able to enjoy.lolol!!!

Is it sometime this month that you have a hospital appointment? I know you told us, but my memory isn't as good as it use to be......maybe something to do with my age.lol!!

Well they have fitted the carpet in the dining room, I'm really pleased with it. We spent most of the weekend painting the room, so glad to say that it looks fresh and clean now.

Marie, thank you for asking, since the consultant increased my medication nearly three weeks ago, I feel better, thank goodness. I have an appointment at the beginning of July with my own doctor, so hope I will have improved some more by then.

Hope you are able to find somewhere to live soon. I will be thinking about you.Good Luck!

Jean, hope D is feeling a bit better again today......the rest will do her good I'm sure.

Ann, hope you and T are having a lovely holiday.Take care both.

Sylvia, hope all is going along ok for you and OH.

I haven't heard anything from Joyce for about a month, hope that she is feeling a lot better than she's been for a long while.

Huia, how are things with you? Hope everything is going along okay.

Well I am going to make myself some lunch now and then I am going to make a start on making Christmas cards.

Speak to you all later.

Take care.

Oh thank goodness, Sallie, we were worried about where you had got to my love.
What a traumatic time you have had, I do hope you had insurances to cover the damage done.
You are both braver than I would have been, I think I would have been pulling my hair out with frustration.
Then to top it all, you had the power cut, that was the last thing you needed.

A friend of mine is getting married in August, and last night a crowd of us went out for her hen night.
Stupid me, didnt twig, a hen night, yes o.k a nice meal but shock horror a drag queen and two strippers. How could I not have realised after being on this earth for so long. This was the first and last hen night I will ever go to, unless it's a quiet meal with dancing afterwards.
Arriving home at 12.45 a.m, Roly sat up and waited for me to get safetly, bless him, so we are both shattered now, and will no doubt be going to bed early.

I will say goodnight, god bless, love and hugs, Mo xxx

Sallie Report 13 Jun 2013 23:28

Hello everyone, sorry not been on for a while, but I’ve had a few problems trying to answer both Mo and Shaun’s threads. Each time I got onto a page, the blinking thing just froze and the only way I could get off was to go back to the Community Boards each time. Tuesday, I managed to get onto Mo’s thread and actually wrote a long reply and had almost finished when I lost the whole lot.

We’ve also had a few problems with the water pipes, after the bathroom suite was in....one of the pipes burst open and flooded the bathroom and the downstairs toilet which also affected the light in there, so Alun had to switch the electric off at the mains and dismantle the ceiling light.

On Sunday we found that the water had somehow seeped through the wall from the downstairs toilet into the dining room into the carpet, so we have to have a new carpet in there. We went to the shop that we have bought our carpets from ever since we have been living here, luckily the carpet we like was in stock so they are coming to fit it for us on Monday morning. I’m afraid it has been one of those weeks.....never mind, things could be a lot worse.lolol!!!

Mo, so pleased to know that Roly can still drive, I’m sure that both of you are relieved that he can and also that his BP and blood sugar levels are down.
It looks as though you have the same kind of weather that we have had over the last couple of days, also had thunder and lightening along with the heavy rain today.

Ann, sorry I missed you, hope you and T will have a good holiday at Lanzarote, I’m sure your weather will be a lot dryer and sunnier than ours here.lol!!! Enjoy yourselves and take care.

Jean, I’m sorry to hear that D isn’t too good at the moment, let’s hope that they will get her medication sorted very soon, so that she will start to feel a lot better.
It’s a shame that you won’t be doing so many cards from now on and are selling a lot of your stuff, but I’m sure that it will also be nice for you and J to have your own sitting room and D to have hers so that her friends can come round for a good natter.

Marie, it is nice hearing from you. I hope you got on alright at the retirement village you went to see today, let’s hope that you will get your house sorted soon so that you can move to the one that suits you best.
Pleased that Kathleen is starting to accept what has happened to her, so that she can start to move forward and on with her life. Although I’m sure it must still be difficult for her. Let’s hope that something good will come out of all that has happened.

My cousin has been going through the same thing over the last six to seven weeks, she and her husband have split up...he has found someone else....they have been married for 24 years.

Huia, you are brave having all those fillings, I’m absolutely terrified of dentists. Hope that all is going well in the shop for you and that you are still enjoying working there. Take care.

We have just had a power cut, so will finish this off now and will speak to you all later.

Take care everyone.
