A silk or ivory fan is a much neglected item for women. They are so useful on a hot day. We used to make them out of folded stiff paper, and some were very pretty.

I've had a right chuckle Elizabeth.I am always the only one with short sleeves too.In fact I'm not sure that I have many long sleeved things..
I have a proper silk fan (it's gorgeous) that I always put in my handbag when I know I am going somewhere where I may need to do a lot of flapping .It is rather large so have a large handbag to accommodate it.OH cringes when he sees me reach for it,but do you know I quite often share it around. If I see a lady look at me with envy I will offer her the fan for a quick flap lol.I am way past the stage of being embarrased (sp) by whipping it out.

Hi Everyone,

Thought my flushes were going but I was sweltering last night even with the window open. Ohh to have a full night's sleep without waking a few times!!

Not trying those sandals in the freezer then Jane? lol Not even wrapped in a polythene bag? lol

As well as the chin and moustache hair I seem to have one that grows from the edge of my earlobe as well now. I hope I don't end up with as many on my ears as Chester!!!!!! lol

Hi Jane, what I do with the few long ones that come on my chin is pluck them, always pull in the direction of which the hair is growing...doesn't hurt if you do it fast...use a magnifing mirror! I've got a couple of regulars that keep popping up...as soon as i feel the buggers out they come!!!

Good luck!!!

Pam.xx

PS the more often you do it Jane the weaker the hair shaft becomes, now my chin is lovely and clear...shame about my moustache!!!lol lol lol!!!

We have had a dry day so far, but it looks a bit black now. My 92yr old neighbour rang me in a panic yesterday evening. She couldnt find the wallet with her pension and post office card. I went in a nd helped her to searcheverywhere that she might have put, but no sign, Rang the shop she was in last, but they hadnt had it handed in. Rang the taxi driver, and he went to the shopto enquire as well. She was really in a state, shaking and muddled. Upshot, this morning at 8am, she rang me to say she had found it, under the dressing table mat! She has no idea why she put it there. Just as well I was unable to contact the police for her yesterday. I rang the no in the phone book, and a voice said your local polce station is not open, you need to speak to Pontypool, I will put you through. Waited for ten minutes while the phone rang, but gave up in disgust in the end.

My OH ends up with odd ones Jane.......or ones that are slightly different shades.....don't know why. Worse, because we both have a lot of black ones, he puts mine in with his by mistake sometimes, then has the nerve to tell me they are too small and I must have shrunk them in the wash!!! lol I seem to keep needing to buy socks, while he doesn't......no wonder when he's wearing mine. lol

Jane

Jane Report 31 Jul 2009 16:04

Why is it my son has so many odd socks????????????What happens to the other odd ones??????????????My bed is covered in them. They will go in the little basket with some other odds and if after a month I haven't paired them up they will go out lol
I never have odd ones and neither does OH.

Afternoon all
Been cleaning and dusting and finishing off my house work before my MIL comes this afternoon., even managed to get the few bits of washing dried befor any rain arrives . Daughter no 1 just phoned to say she's back from her fortnightly visit to the midwife. all is well seems baby has been in the head down position for the last 5 weeks. daughter does say she feels round nobbly bits???? !!! under her chest. so midwifes said it's probably the heels or baby's bottom sticking under her ribs. I am really glad she's been lucky and has had no major problems so far. 4 weeks to go till due date, but could go another 2 , who knows!!!!!
