Oh ,its not fair, you all seem to be having grandchildren.I am like Pam and don't think we are likely to have any in the near future.
Just made sure my son has his passport after reading what your OH did Lizzie.
My BIL did that once when he was going to Brussels for a meeting. The company wizzed a courier on a motorbike to him home to pick his up ,and he made it just in the nick of time.
The wind is blowing so hard here at the moment I keep having to go and secure the Gazebo. The wooden peg things on the top keep coming out.
I must go and water the beans and tomatoes now,as with all the wind it will dry out the soil, and believe it or not we haven't really had much rain.
I have a very sweaty face today lol

Hi Fiona ,I hope you have as much fun with your wee one as I have with mine I,ve been "lucky" to have my daughter and her family live within 2 miles for all of the 8 years sh's been married. We also work together in our family firm so we shared childcare up until she stopped breastfeeding at 10 months then I stopped weekday working and looked after first Gregor and now Sophie.Though I sometimes moan about being tied I wouldn't change a thing. We're due our third grandchild in 17 days so Sophie will go to nursery next year and I'll have her Unclle Sandy's wee girl to care for.His partner Lisa's mum runs her own business so is unable to take her,and to be honest I don't want to miss out. Hope all goes well for your daughter

morning all
quite a mild day here with frequent rain showers. daughter no2 feeling a little better and has decided to go for a bath, so I will be staying around as it will probably make her feel a little worn out after the effort, yesterday she just lay about on the couch.

Patrica you are a brave woman looking after two grandchildren all that time. trying to keep them occupied as well is not easy.
I have kept all my nursery school books (I worked in a nursery for 4 years)and all my art bits and peices so when my grandchild is much older and comes to stay I will have something I hope to keep her /he amused for a while.(my first grandchild's due date is a week to tomorrow(28th) I am getting very excited now.

Morning ladies,

Wow Patricia I admire your stamina! I must say too that I'm very envious as I'm not a granny as yet and I can't see me being one for a while yet either. My dear old dad was a great help to me when my two where small, he had the patience of a saint and they adored him, he was so easy going and like you, sounds a lovely grandparent. Keep up the good work and as you say they go back today!!!

Seems like another warm and sunny day here again, hope that you all have a nice day and a safe one.

Hi ladies, wonder if anyone else is knackered for the same reason as me?I've had the pleasure of looking after my 6year old grandson and 2 year old grandaughter 9 hours a day for the summer holidays.Much as I love them it can be a long hard days work especially when the weather 's bad and we're confined indoors, thankfully school goes back today so it's just me and Sophie and I can usually convince her that a nap in the afternoon is a good idea, something she wouldn't even consider while her brother Gregor is here.An hour of peace makes all the difference! My mother never watched my kids, when they were small, for more than a couple of hours at a time now there are times when I think she was very wise ,though there are days when I laugh from 8.30 'til 6pm at the silly things they say and do.

Ann, Dr has known me about 28yrs. He knew me when I worked at the local hospital and has seen me through most of my problems. Probably wouldnt have said that to anyone else but he's very human!

A bit off topic but reminds me of when the doctor asked OH if he had noticed any deafness lately and OH said 'only according to my wife'.

Does your Dr know you well Jean????

Hope your OH recovers from his chest infection soon, and I hope the laugh made your Drs day!!!!

Jean (Monmouth) Report 18 Aug 2009 19:54

We were at the Drs yesterday as OH has a chest infection. Got on to the subject of longterm diabetes care and how things have changed. Told him about being laughed at 40 yrs ago because we asked for help with sexual problems and lack of function. Said nowadays with Viagra there are few problems and did we want to try. We laughed and said it's a bit late now, too many other problems for it to be worth it. We were all having a good laugh, and when I opened the door to leave one of the practice nurses was stood there looking very puzzled! Not the usual sound heard there. My OH was not well, and I said to the Dr, he's not as tough as me, and his reply, under his breath, was, that would be difficult! Dont know whether to be insulted. Lol.

It was too hot last night, tossed and turned,as did OH.I dreamt that I had gone to an island with my neighbours and it was a garden centre.Somehow someone stole my clothes.( I don't know how) so I got stranded lol,and eventually I took clothes from the shop(gardening clothes) and got home the next day.
I am boiling at the moment and am sat under the fan.Need to cool off before going in to town.

Morning all,

Oh what a hot night...we were very busy and I had the misfortune to be working with a care assistant who runs around like a blue ar*ed fly!! Not the way to be when you're dealing with elderly and frail people, that's when accidents happen....made my feelings known too!

Ahh well off for my shower and bit of breakfast and then to bed...speak later girls and I hope you all have a lovely day.

Evening all
Had a nice evening out on Friday caught up on all the family news with the girls next time we meet up I'll be a granny and one of the other ladies will have been married it will be her second marriage.

What a day!!!! OH was up at dad's all day due to this gas problem there has been an army of gas men in & out all day and poor OH has had to cope with dad as well, trying to tell the men what to do and complaining about the banging and drilling, every time he looked out of the window and saw the vans he kept saying whats going on why are they in my house, no body told me they were coming what is going on.
at one point he asked OH why are you here do you work for the gas what are you doing in my house, totally confused.
Glad they are finished in the house and will be back tomorrow to fill in the holes, thankfully dad will be at the day centre(breathes a sigh of relief)

It's been quite chilly here today more like an Autumn day than summer wore trousers and a jumper to church and a jacket too, won't belong before the old tights are back on.
I'm of to watch the TV for a bit before bed ,hope you all have had a good day
night night

Parts of Dorset feel like the rest of the country felt years ago, if you see what I mean, totally unspoilt and so peaceful, some very pretty villages too. I am looking forward to it.
