Evening ladies, we have been home just over an hour...we had a fantastic time but are shattered as we were picked up from hotel at 7am this morning.

Congratulations on being a granny Fiona, and you soon to be one too Patricia...I'm very envous...will log off now as i'm sooooo tired!

Patrica , I'd love to be with daughter & her family at Christmas but unfortunately we can't . I have to look after my father at Christmas (he has Dementia)and then he goes into respite for 3 days while we travel to lancashire on boxing day to see OH mum and his brother and family, then we come back home for new Year, My mum died new years eve 1999, so I visit the cemetery around that time. can't leave dad for to long as he is unable to cope with every day life if he is too long out of his familiar surroundings.

Fiona ,that lump of coal thing sounds familiar,when I was small my mum used to say if we were bad Santa would leave cinders in our stockings.Now we tell our grandchildren that the house alarm lights are hidden cameras so Santa watches to check on their behaviour

yes Jane it's the theatre on the cliffs,the first time we went there we saw "Our Town" don't know if you know the play ,it started about 7pm and it was dark when it finished so we had an ever changing backdrop with the sun sinking and little fishing boats in the distance.The final scene takes place in a graveyard and the atmosphere was amazing with no props and just people drifting on and off the stage and voices coming out of the darkness.Even our teenagers thought it incredible.Fiona you just need to go on holiday to Italy with them ,thats what I would do then everbody's happy I'm sure your daughter would love to have her family with her for Sofia's first Christmas.

Fiona ,its fascinating seeing how different nationalities celebrate Christmas.I reckon your daughter will want to have the next Christmas at home .Sofia will be more fun then as she will be into tearing all the paper and playing with the packaging lol.Will she be brought Bi Lingual?

Love monsoon's Patrica , There's always something different than in the high shops, I don't have the problem of buying Sofia a Christmas outfit ,I wish I did but she will not be here for Christmas her mummy and daddy are planning to take her over to Italy to see all her Italian relatives then, so I will have to give her present to the Italian version of Santa clause Which is La Befana.
They don't celebrate christmas like us they give small gifts in January not December

La Befana is one of Italy's oldest and most celebrated legends. Each year on January 6 the children of Italy awaken in hopes that La Befana has made a visit to their house. This is a significant day to Italians because it marks the end of the Christmas season and the day that the three Wise Men arrived at the manger of the Christ child. Over the years the Epiphany has been a more celebrated holiday for the children of Italy than even Christmas.
As legend has it the three Wise Men were in search of the Christ child when they decided to stop at a small house to ask for directions. Upon knocking, an old woman holding a broom opened the door slightly to see who was there. Standing at her doorstep were three colorfully dressed men who were in need of directions to find the Christ child. The old woman was unaware of who these three men were looking for and could not point them in the right direction. Prior to the three men leaving they kindly asked the old woman to join them on their journey. She declined because she had much housework to do. After they left she felt as though she had made a mistake and decided to go and catch up with the kind men. After many hours of searching she could not find them. Thinking of the opportunity she had missed the old woman stopped every child to give them a small treat in hopes that one was the Christ child. Each year on the eve of the Epiphany she sets out looking for the baby Jesus. She stops at each child's house to leave those who were good treats in their stockings and those who were bad a lump of coal.
So thats that, Maybe when Sofia is older they may spend christmas at home, We can only hope.

Is that the open air theatre on the cliffs Patricia?I have a feeling I went there as a very young child.

Hi Fiona, have a look in Monsoon's childrens dept. Spoilt for choice of clothes for wee girls.Our Sophie has now got a choice of 4 outfits for Christmas day and I'm under oath NOT to go back in to the shop 'til the New Year.He didn't mention the website though lol.

My OH wouldnt like the separate beds at all! we dont cuddle because of physical difficulties, but we go to sleep every night arm in arm. He is always restless even asleep while I am reading, but as soon as I link he is away!

Hi DL ,did you come accross the fab herb farms in Cornwall we visited 2 last year my favourite was Halzephron they sell all sorts of herb related stuff.I particularly like their munchy seeds with different flavourings and they do a range of sauces ,herbal remedies,bath products etc etc. We always visit the cider farm too for their homemade preserves .You were very lucky with the weather the past few years when we've been down it's been constant rain though it doesn't really matter ,we stayed in Port Isaac last year and the restaurants ,pubs and local music were all terrific
We tend to go to Cornwall in the summer annd Ireland in the autumn.

My specs live on the top of my head,unless I'm trying to read lol.Even the writing on the jars etc is still to small with my glasses on!!!

Jane , I stand on tiptoe when I use my credit card in the machine at the shop counter, as sometimes the screen is pointing upwards can't move it down, also spend time having to get my glasses out as I often press the wrong numbers, can't see much without my glasses these days.

Back to being short.I had to stand on tiptoe when I was putting diesel in the car this morning.The new pumps gauges are far too high for me too see clearly.

Afternoon ladies.
OH is away last night and tonight and it's great getting the bed to myself for a bit. my OH is a bit like your OH Patrica doesn't mind the odd occasional night when I decided to sleep in the spare bed, but wouldn't be happy if it was permanent, I keep nagging him when he sits down to watch the TV at the weekend as normally he opens up a bottle of red wine (only drinks on a Saturday Evening, no work next day) then sometimes he will have a whisky before bed, I tell him if he has more than 1 whisky ,I am off to the spare room as his snoring keeps me awake.

Morning ladies.
I am sure when my son goes back to uni on saturday and his bed has had a good airing lol I will soon be nipping in there for a few sleeps on my own.I know I do disturb OH quite a lot some nights and he does need to have good quality sleep to be able to do his job.

I do agree with the sleeping apart thing ,unfortunately my O.H. would not be pleased if he thought it a permanent arrangement,he usually vacates our bed for the spare room if I'm having a bad time with sweats and comes back in the morning for 1/2 an hour before he goes to work but he 's only happy to do this as a temporary measure 'til I'm through "the change"Optimistic as he is, he reckons it can't last much longer! Wish I was so sure.

I bet Pam is having a great time in Menorca.Lucky thing.
