These Hormones of ours have a heck of a lot to answer to haven't they.
Another thing I wonder about is skin.I get what I call flare ups on my scalp .It looks a little like excema or dermatitis.Just small red scaly patches that can appear at any old time.My head gets itchy and I can smell my hair!!!!!! That oily smell .It reminds me of my Mum lol.Am I the only one with that???

Hi Tina,

Yes feeling slightly less achey than I was thanks.

That's a nasty feeling having a panic attack, I had one or two after the birth of my daughter, think it may have been a touch of post natel depression. The feeling that I get with the heart flutterings aren't a panic feeling, so it could be just to do with the change again.

I suppose one thing that has changed for me as I've got older is I'm certainly more confident. I just go about life doing the best I can, trying to be nice, but you'll never please everyone. That would have bothered me years ago if i thought people didn't like me or what I was doing, but not now.

Afternoon Pam and the gang lol

Hope you are feeling better this afternoon and that the painkillers worked.

Now I have learned something else and was reminded. I too have had panic attacks. First time was in a very large supermarket, I had to get out and sit in the car, I felt very faint with buzzing in my ears. I had a spell where I could not go to work on the bus, I felt as if everybody was watching me and I had the idea that what I was thinking in my head I was actually talking out loud. I used to go bright red if someone turned round and looked at me. I hasten to add I dont go around talking to myself - well not out in public lol.

As for the mammogram, had one before I was 50, as I was concerned of pains in one of them only - they said it was hormonal and everything was clear.

Being of a very large obese lady can vouch and say that I had no prob presenting my bosooms to the plates!

OH is now "relaxing" in HIS chair, "watching" Oliver Twist - I cannot tell you how many times "we" have watched this film. I am sure before long I will be able to recite the entire script. lol He'll be snoring in a bit!

Thanks for all your morale support girls. I'm rather large in that area so hopefully it shouldn't hurt. I'd be a liar if i said i'm not a bit worried but hey....we've had smears, babies, so can't be any worse.

It's nothing to be scared of Pam You only need to grit your teeth for a few mo's.
The worst bit for me was having a strange woman handling my boobs. Now if it was a man.......!!!!.I have had 2 now, last time I was peeling so bad from sunburn on my shoulders she got all my flaky skin on her as they have to lean right into you to get the position right.

Aftermorning girls~~~
Pam, I had the whooshing of blood and palpitations, so I went for a blood test, and it turned out I was vitamin B12 deficient, which you get from red meat. But seen as I have a high cholesterol count, I'me not allowed to eat it!

Pam ,

I hope you are nice and round in the boob area for your Mammogram the smaller you are the more they tend to squeeze you in the Xray plates LOL

With me I'm plentiful up there and they just rest in the plates no problems ,

O my god what have I started ....this will be a thread on boobs & Mammograms .... cant wait !!

Anyway good luck Pam just bare with it, it does not take long I have had quite a lot done as I had problems with me boobies.

Hi Helen, yes I got that feeling last night but was very relaxed and sitting on the sofa at the time too, god as you say what next.

I'm going for my first mamogram on the 14th May.

Jane Report 19 Apr 2009 11:56

Pam you have described the palpitations and ear rushing thing perfectly lol
I went through a weird stage when taking the dog for a walk .I suddenly didn't want to go through the spinney which is a lovely little pocket park.I walked through there for years but for some reason felt panicky just at the thought.
Someone told me that another symptom of the change is lack of confidence and sometimes panic attack type feelings.God what else is there to go with this thing!!!!!!!!

Hi Tina, no that's like me I don't have a mum or sister or even an aunt to ask about 'female things.'

Off to take my painkiller.

Morning all, sorry you had a bad night Helen. My dreams the other night were so horrible they were bordering almost nightmare type. I can't begine to tell you what they were about as they were really nasty and made no sense. Really hope that's not another sympton of the change!

Does anyone else now and again have kind of heart pulpitations and occasionally you can hear the blood sort of rushing to your head, you kind of hear it through your ears...does that make sense, haven't described it very well.

I've got back achey joints today too, got to take an ibuprophen. I'm trying not to take as many as i once did as you hear all sorts of horror stories, but when you ache so you tend to think sod it and take one!

Hope everyone else is okay!!

Pam.

Thats interesting about the PMT issue. I have sailed through the menopause and did not suffer (well hardly) any PMT. I might have got a bit irritable the day before a period and a bit clumsy.

Its very interesting this thread - even still. I have not got any female relatives either to ask (blood relatives that is, so dont know what they went through.

Have a good day folks and see you later ~~~~~~~~~~~

(OH has now got up so will have to socialise with him pmsl)

My OH has just resurrected my old bike from the shed.It is one of those like the old midwife would have ridden(with a basket on the front).Has bought himself a helmet ,but not the lycra (yet) lol.He looks a honey .Think this is him and his mid life thing.
He did say tonight that he may buy himself a proper mans bike,as he will be a laughing stock riding my old sit up and beg one.
