MOT done.Nothing needed doing,although it shouldn't as it is the first one.
I am not a good passenger when OH is driving,or anyone else really.I have to keep my eyes on the road!!,and foot ready to break!!
I do a lot of sucking in breath when I feel we are too close to the kerb or hedge lol

My son has a friend whose eyelashes are to die for.Poor lad ,he gets so embarassed (sp) when people comment on them.They are beautiful..

LOL Lizzie ....Nothing wrong with looking .....I love to look.It's human nature .Thats my excuse anyway. I had many boyfriends with longer hair than mine,and they looked after it well.Oh those were the days lol

Evening Ladies.
It's been a cloudy day today, not really very good for sitting out , mind you I think I over did it a bit yesterday, came in last night to have a shower and when I got undressed I had a bright red nose, shoulders and top of arms were bright red and the hollow bit of my throat, where you swallow was really red, ,luckly non of it was sore. my hair parting was a bit tender too, even though I did start to wear a sun hat later on in the day.

Daughter no 2 went back to Gala today , car packed with all her outfits that she and her assistant(dad) manage to complete, both of them are shattered, ,I think it will be an early night for OH now the stress and tension is over. she did a really good photo shoot ,OH took her up to our local country Park at Chatelherault and took some photo's of her posing beside the car. they look really good in her portfolio.
Now all we can do is hope she gets good marks this time round.

I will keep everything crossed for her Fiona.Chatelerault sounds French.

Yes you are right Chatelherault is french , The town of Hamilton where I live is twinned with Chatelherault in France, we have many streets or crescents named after Chatelherault (pronounced Chatelherow) and the school where my 2 girls went to was Chatelherault Primary school. and as I mentioned before the Country Park close by has a beautiful House or lodge situated in it's grounds.

Morning all
I'm early this morning as I have quite a lot of clearing up in the sweat shop downstairs (dinning room) and I want to do some of it before visiting dad this morning, very quiet here now, OH & MIL left at 6.00, she's always been a early riser and likes to get home as soon as she can so she's got the rest of the day to sort out her washing , post etc. .

Both OH & daughter deserve high marks for what they've done this week. OH say's he now knows what and how an over locker machine is built , good job he was a ships engineer in the merchant navy, I get nothing new in this house untill OH has had it to bits to make sure he can't fix it himself first before he will go and buy a new one.

well I'm off now got to walk up to dads and get him ready for day care.

I remember the smell of my sons things when he came home from Cub/Scout camp,Nd the mud and grass and squashed bugs etc.At least you can air the tent outside today.It is a beautiful day here.OH is just mowing the lawn,then I can hang out the washing.He has to take down the whirley line as he does stripes on the lawn !!!Heaven forbid if he had a wonky one lol

I wish I had learnt to drive. I miss so much by OH being unwilling to go anywhere, he prefers to be at home. Used to have more freedom when I cycled, but the hills kept growing! Then had aHonda C90 which I used for work for 8yrs while son and OH whizzed past in the other direction in their respective cars. Was told by the heart specialist that my condition was such that I was unsafe to other roadusers, so I stopped. Asked my GP if he would pass me for a driving licence, and he just looked at me and smiled!

Hello Jean, I know how you feel, I sat my driving test twice and failed both times on reversing round corners.On the day of test no.3 I was pregnant with my now 21 yr old son and sick not just in the mornings but all day so I decided to cancel, son was born 11 weeks prem and I spent the next 10 weeks back and forward to hospital so the driving test had to be cancelled again! I never did get back to it,now I have to depend on OH ,daughter or my son to take me to appointments etc. I wonder if 55 is too old to give it another go?

Ah but the roads were a lot quieter ini the seventies I don't know if I could cope with all the boy racers and road rage that's out there now

Patricia,go for it.If you feel that you would like to have another bash.55 (same as me) is not too old.
When my Dad died,Mum thought she should try and learn to drive as Dad wanted her to be independent .She was a disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.I don't know how the instructor wasn't a total wreck lol.I think he nicely put it to Mum that she was not cut out for driving !!

I think the problem is that I am 74!

You go for it Patricia. My best friend's mum had an old Austin 7 as a young woman in the 30s, but then never drove until 35 years later when she was 58 when we were teenagers. She bought a car (husband didn't drive) but was very nervous and would only turn to the left as she daren't turn right.! Determined to succeed, she booked a lot of lessons and was soon confident, driving locally until she was confident with the car, then going further. Eventually, she would drive almost anywhere and got a job doing market research which took her to different towns. You won't regret it.

Afternoon ladies, been just catching up on the posts.

With regard to learning to drive Patricia and Jean, my mother in law learnt to drive at the age of 67, she took her test in an automatic...it does restict you to driving automatics, but they're good as you don't have to learn clutch control etc...ideal to learn with just an auto as you just have the two pedals, STOP and GO! She doesn't go far, but she's got her independance!!

Thanks for that,an automatic might well be the way to go.I may book a trial lesson for next week and see how it goes

I don't drive an automatic,but my sister and all her family do.They wouldn't change to a manual .I have to say they are really good to drive.
