Afternooin ladies

Fiona it must be a worry for you with your poor old dad. I cared for my dad here at home with us, he was very frail and had no mobility but was okay with regards not getting in a muddle so it made it easier. His partner of many years had dementia and that was hard going.

Tina I sound very well connected don't I knowing Sandra. I know her as I helped care for her mum when she was very old and frail ( as I worked for her a few years back) so that's how I know her. I'm going to one of her workshops on the 30th it's nice as you get to talk to loads of people who love art! Tell you what Tina some of the stuff they sell on the net, well as my hubby says it looks like my pallett...and people pay for crap like that!

Working a night shift tonight and then not working 'til the 24th so be back tomorrow pm.

Pam.xx ☺

Fiona, what a worry you have with your Dad, but what a caring daughter you are, but do take care of yourself too :))

Pam - agree, after looking at some of the art was amazed at what was being put up for sale.

What do you like painting and do you use watercolour paints or acrylics or oils or a mixture?

I like doing watercolour painting, my sister has given me some acrylics which I am experimenting with,I like the versatility of using it like watercolour paint and then just slapping it on thickly lol

Harpstrings Report 19 May 2009 22:22

Sorry Jane, I have gone off wandering on other threads lol.

I have heard of Gauche too, not sure what it is though, and I use other mediums lol will have to have a google about it

Nite nite , gosh its nearly 10.30, time for me to think about taking me medication and pop off up to bed lol

See you tomorrow. Sleep well. :))

Tina xxx

EDIT:

"GOUACHE", paints, (pronounced 'g-wash') are water soluble paints in the watercolor family. Unlike traditional watercolor paint, which is translucent, gouache is an opaque medium, with a matte finish as opposed to a lustre. It can be mixed with traditional watercolor, and painted OVER watercolor, for interesting effect.

There we go, you learn new things every day! lol xx

Evening ladies,

Tina, I like to use acyrillic and oils, not especially fond of water colour. Acryllic as you know drys faster so it's better in some ways...but really i love have to say oils is my favourite to work with. I've also done a couple of pictures on canvass of my children and dad from photographs using charcoal and water colour pencils which I'm really pleased with.

Had a busy shift last night! Gawd did I have the hot flushes this morning!! Not working again until sunday night and then not sure when next in as I'm just relief/bank, which suits me fine actually.

Pam.

can I ask you all how frequent your hot flushes are?
I seem to have a tropical moment every half hour.

Paula xx

Fiona

Fiona Report 21 May 2009 11:43

Hi Diane ,Hi Easter Bunny
when I first started having hot flushes I was 47 and they came like you about every half an hour some very strong, so strong that I had to give up my polo kneck jumpers, my thermal cammi tops. which i really needed living in cold wet Scotland,
One minute, it was of with the jumper, windows open then about 2/3 mins later I was closing windows saying i was freezing, my family thought I was nuts.
I have had the menopause for almost the last 7 years, I an now approaching 54 and they have calmed down a lot, mostly only bother me at night time. occasionally I get them if I am in the car on a warm day, so it's down with the window for a cool breeze, then up for a bit of a heat.

Things that cause the golden moments (thats what my family call them along with the senior moments LOL) are Hot baths, Hot drinks, overdoing the wine, sometimes put lemonade in. but it's not the same BOO HOO.
and sharing a bed with OH who is like a hot water bottle. and occasionally if i get over stressed. was on HRT for a while but had to come off due to them making my migraine headaches worse.

Hello ladies

Yes Lorraine there are quite a few artists in north Norfolk, Cromer is about a half hour drive from me so know where you mean...Woolworth's gone now though!

Getting back to the menopause...had a very sweaty night and feel very achey today in my joints, must get some more ibuphrofen today... 400mg ones! The lady at the chemist's getting to know me now...back later, lovely day here in Norfolk. ☺

Wonder where Jane/ Helen is today, it's unusual for her not to pop in to say good morning.

Hi Familysearcher, Hi Pam

Pam- Jane's computer is not working so she has taken it to get fixed, she did say she would try & borrow OH laptop , but she's not been on for a while, so maybe she hasn't been lucky yet,
I use ibuphrofen Gel for my achey shoulders and kneck, it's great.I found it worked better than those heat pads I used.
Got to go and bring the washing in ,hopefully it will be dry we have had a lot of sun and wind today.
