Hi,

Just want to let people know that sometimes the GRO staff are inefficent.Ao please double check if they say one of the checking points are wrong when you order any certificates.

I sent for my Aunties marriage certificate naming her father as Alfred and I got an email telling me I had a £4 refund as the father of the groom was not Alfred.

I rang them as soon as I had read the email and got through to a nice lady that took my customer number.
I told her the problem about Alfred not being the groom's father but Alfred was the bride's father.

She told me "No that Alfred wasn't the brides father either" .
So I told her that I knew 100% that Alfred was the brides father as she is my auntie.

The reply was "you will have to re-order the cert and give no checking points" ie the brides father's name.

So I re-ordered the cert(with checking points ie Alfred as the bride's father's name) which has come today and guess what "" the brides father is Alfred. who is my grandad.

Right cert all along but just ineffiency with the staff at the GRO.

Just rang then again to ask for the £3 refund back and she said she will have to send it to the complaints department to double check so I get my £3 refund back.

I know £3 isn't a lot of money but it's better in my pocket than theirs as especially when I am an OAP.

So it's so long but I hate ineffiency especially when it costs me money I haven't got.
