Ancestry Connection and Junk Mail

I have started to get lots of junk emails via the Ancestry Connection Service, all advertising/offering different things. The contact/person in question is someone I know but I cant figure out why I am getting the junk stuff when I thought the service was to make contact and discuss family tree connections?

Is anyone else getting these? I am at a loss to know if it's an option somewhere that I have to turn off, or if the sender has to deal with it.
