Hi All,
I'm sure there's a techi who can tell you more about this.

This has just brought tears to a friend of mine. Her computer has been hit with the above virus/trojan which opens IE and attempts to takes you to softwarereferral.com. It also tells you how your computer is in immanent danger, with authentic looking Microsoft windows popups and other popups saying that your Registry and Files are corrupted and you need to purchase the software from the named company.
It's a total frightener. Popup windows galore, porn sites and other nasties.

I'm not sure how long it's been doing the rounds as it hit me last week. Getting rid of it was easy by just re-installing my regular backup. I lost a few files but nothing I could not afford to lose. Neither the latest updated version of Adaware 2007 or AVG75 would remove it.

It looks like the sole purpose of it is to frighten you into paying for the download to remove the offending virus/trojan.

Backup your data before you are hit!!!!!!!
